Last December Dublin Digital Radio celebrated their 4th birthday. As part of a weekend of celebrations myself and Declan Synnott recorded a long conversation. Declan Synnott is not only a gentleman, he’s also scholar – with an actual PhD in Punk. I know I’ve talked about my own perceived parallels between Punk and Traditional Irish music many times in the past, but I think this is the most in depth and articulate it has ever come out. So abgedroschen-inflationär das Wort "Powerfrau" auch klingen mag: Britta Schewe füllt die Vokabel mit 100 % echter Bedeutung: Lebenskraft und ebensolcher Lust, Neugierde, Spontanität und vollumfängliche Macher(innen)attitüde. In 20 Jahren Berufserfahrung "in den Medien" hat Britta sehr viel erreicht, ausprobiert, erfahren: Konzern Karriere (hier auch wie sie NICHT leben und arbeiten will: wenig integrativ und zu glatt, zu geradeaus - Schornstein-Karriere ohne Hügel, Berge, Kurven...) und Startup Welt, Gründer Trio Dasein und one-woman-show, Geschäftsführerin und Roadtrip Auszeit mit Hund - bis auf letzteres alles rund um "wie kann mit bewegten Bildern im Netz begeistern und Geld verdienen?" Begeisterung - zentrales Thema in ihrem Leben: wenn Britta für ein Projekt, Idee, Thema, Firma.....Feuer gefangen hat gibt sie alles: literweise Herzblut und totale Verbundenheit - jedwedes Abwerben ausgeschlossen. "Versicherungen" funktionieren ohnehin nicht im wirklichen Leben - mehrmals konfrontiert mit der "Endlichkeit" packt Britta das Leben am Schopfe. Vollgas Mentalität mit Verantwortungsbewusstsein, für andere (Löwenmutter Manier) und für "die Sache". Trotz und mit aller Extravision, Feierlaune und mega Präsenz: Britta mag und sucht genauso die Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit, braucht und liebt die Freiheit in allem was sie tut. Am liebsten beim Cruisen in ihrem Oldtimer oder bei langen Spaziergängen "irgendwo am Wasser" in der Natur mit ihrem Hund. Und neben Amüsement vor oder hinter dem Bartresen interessiert sie am Ende eines Tages der Mensch UNTER seiner Oberfläche: echte Gespräche über Haltungen, Leidenschaften, Persönlichkeitsentwicklung, kurz um: das Eingemachte! Ihr Rat ans Teenager Ich ist ein wertvoller Appell ans uns alle und ein vermutlich niemals abgeschlossener Weg: die eigene Verwundbarkeit zuzulassen und sich darin kennenzulernen. Mein Fazit: Hammerfrau mit Herz, Hirn und Haltung!

Ryan Stier is a seasoned singer/songwriter/guitarist. He fronts folk outfit The River Monks and also plays guitar in Annalibera and Seedlings. The Monks are on a steady climb having just released an Lp and embarked on a 7 week long tour. They've also had heavy video rotation on major outlets.
