(Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Police attacked Christians in India The All India Christian Council called out officials in Odisha State, India last week for violence against Christians. The council found that police assaulted tribal Christians, attacking women, children, and priests back in March. International Christian Concern reported a particularly disturbing event. “A 62-year-old woman who had buried her husband just hours earlier was also allegedly beaten up, along with her 17-year-old daughter, while they were in mourning.” The council noted that officials did not take any formal action against the violent police personnel. Proverbs 11:20-21 says, “Those of crooked heart are an abomination to the LORD, but those of blameless ways are His delight. Be assured, an evil person will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will be delivered.” 47 percent of Germans are religiously unaffiliated A new study found that people who identify with no religion outnumbered Protestants and Catholics in Germany for the first time last year. These religiously unaffiliated make up a shocking 47 percent of the country's population. Catholics represent 24 percent of the population, and Protestants represent 21 percent. Together, Catholics and Protestants lost over one million members last year in Germany. Meanwhile, the number of Muslims in the country increased by 80,000 last year. Supreme Court could allow publicly-funded religious charter school In the United States, the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments yesterday in a case that could lead to the nation's first publicly-funded religious charter school. Oklahoma's charter school board approved funding for St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School. However, the state's attorney general is challenging the decision. Conservative justices on the high court appeared supportive of the religious charter school. Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters told CBN News what the case is all about. WALTERS: “It's about the freedom to express your religious beliefs without being penalized by the government. And it's about school choice and making sure that parents actually have that power over their kids' education. Avinger, Texas is 74th Sanctuary City for the Unborn Avinger, Texas is the 74th city in the country to become a Sanctuary City for the Unborn. The city council passed the measure in a 3-1 vote on Monday. Avinger resident and former State Representative David Simpson said, “Avinger is blessed to join cities and counties across Texas who are going as far as they can to address the tragedy of abortion, specifically abortion trafficking and the mailing of abortion-inducing drugs.” U.S. economy shrank in first quarter The U.S. economy shrank during the first quarter of this year. The Gross Domestic Product fell 0.3 percent compared to last year. This was the biggest decline since 2022. Economic growth slowed as businesses tried to stock up on imports ahead of President Donald Trump's tariffs. And federal government spending was down 5.1 percent this year. Membership drops again among Southern Baptists Membership declined in the Southern Baptist Convention for the 18th consecutive year in 2024. The U.S. denomination grew from about seven million members in the 1950s to a peak of over 16 million in the mid-2000s. Since then, it has declined to 12.7 million members last year. However, the Southern Baptist Convention baptized 250,000 people last year, a 10 percent jump from 2023. Kevin Ezell, the president of the North American Mission Board said, “We celebrate every baptism and every new life in Christ. It's encouraging to see these numbers continue to move upward.” Capitol Hill's Bible Reading Marathon And finally, Christians gathered on Capitol Hill to read the entire Bible aloud. The Bible Reading Marathon started Saturday and finished yesterday. For 90 continuous hours, Christians read from Genesis to Revelation in Washington, D.C. Keith Davidson led the event. He told The Christian Post, “Our goal is to bring attention back to our legislators, of course, and to get the attention back on the word of God. And then for [legislators] to remember that's where our nation's foundation is at, and also, for people who are reading, to let them publicly express their faith.” In an interview on Washington Watch with Tony Perkins, Mike Herbster, Director of Southland Christian Ministries, talked about the power of reading the Bible aloud in the capital of Louisiana, like they did on Capitol Hill. HERBSTER: “We know that the word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword. [Hebrews 4:12] We know that obviously, as the word of God goes forth, the Bible says it will not return void. [Isaiah 55:11] So, even in the public declaration of it out loud to our state, even though not everybody will hear all of it, we know that some will hear some of it.” Deuteronomy 31:10-11 says, “And Moses commanded them, saying: ‘At the end of every seven years … when all Israel comes to appear before the LORD your God … you shall read this law before all Israel in their hearing. Gather the people together, men and women and little ones, and the stranger who is within your gates, that they may hear and that they may learn to fear the LORD your God and carefully observe all the words of this law.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, May 1st, in the year of our Lord 2025. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Canadians elect liberal Prime Minister Mark Carney to full term Canada's Liberal Party won Monday's national election with voters giving Mark Carney, a full term as prime minister, according to the national broadcaster CBC/Radio Canada. They chose a seasoned economist and policymaker to guide their country through turbulent times, reports The Epoch Times. The full results should be available early this morning. But the voters' decision sealed a stunning turnaround for the Liberal Party that just months ago seemed all but certain to lose to the Conservative Party, led by career politician Pierre Polievre. Carney has been prime minister since March, when former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stepped down. Going into the election, leftist Mark Carney led conservative Pierre Polievre by a 3.5% margin. Canadians favor abortion and homosexual faux marriage Canada is a progressive nation, progressive towards that which is evil. Sadly, 80% of Canadians favor abortion and 76% favor homosexual faux marriage or legal recognition. Canada is the eighth most pro-homosexual nation in the world, on at least one survey. Arson attacks on Canadian churches have doubled Over the last ten years, arson attacks on Canadian churches have risen from about 35 per year to 75 per year. That's about triple the rate of arson attacks on churches in the United Kingdom and the United States, according to a well-documented report from Macdonald-Laurier. Unbelievably, only about 4% of the arson attacks are investigated and charged. Russia cozies up with North Korea Russia's relationship with North Korea is more solidified, with the official Russian TASS News Agency confirming yesterday that the nations have signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement. Russian President Valdimir Putin issued a statement in which he commended North Korean soldiers for what he called “North Korean soldier's heroism, their excellent training, and dedication displayed while fighting, shoulder to shoulder with Russian soldiers, defending our Motherland as their own.” He added that, ”Our North Korean friends' move was guided by a sense of solidarity, justice, and genuine comradery.” North Korea remains the most dangerous country for Christians The Open Doors' World Watch list puts North Korea at the top of the list for the most extreme persecution of Christians in the world. In early 2024, the North Korean government announced stricter regulations and more draconian crackdowns and terrifying persecution of its citizenry. According to official reports, “the authorities publicly executed about 30 middle-school students (early teenagers) for watching a Korean drama on a USB drive. Several teenagers (17 years old) were sentenced to life imprisonment or death for similar reasons in June and July 2024.” Isaiah 10 speaks of these tyrants: “Woe to those who decree iniquitous decrees, and the writers who keep writing oppression, to turn aside the needy from justice and to rob the poor of My people of their right. .. What will you do on the day of punishment, in the ruin that will come from afar? … When the Lord has finished all His work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, He will punish the speech of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria and the boastful look in his eyes.” Trump's first 100 days: Southern border secure, economy faltering Today marks President Donald Trump's first 100 days in office. The U.S. Border Patrol encounters with illegal immigrants plunged to 7,000 in March—the lowest number in at least 25 years. By contrast, there were 250,000 illegal border crossings in December 2023. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrest rates have doubled since last year, increasing from 310 to about 650 per day. Plus, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced the results of Operation Tidal Wave. LEAVITT: “We are in the beginning stages of carrying out the largest deportation campaign in American history. Over this past weekend, it was announced that through Operation Tidal Wave, a joint effort between ICE Miami and Florida law enforcement agencies, nearly 800 illegal aliens were arrested during the first four days alone. “Among those arrested were a Colombian murderer, an alleged MS-13 and 18th Street gang members, and a Russian with a red notice for manslaughter. “And on the other side of the country, in the early Sunday morning hours, DOJ and DHS together launched a joint raid of an illegal alien underground nightclub used by Tren de Aragua in Colorado Springs, Colorado, DHS took more than 100 illegal aliens into custody, and many drugs and weapons were also seized. “Operation Tidal Wave is a preview of what is to come around this country: Large scale operations that employ our state and local enforcement partners to get criminal illegal aliens off our streets.” While our southern border is more secure and we're deporting illegal criminals, the American economy is faltering. Estimates of the first quarter Gross Domestic Product growth rate are coming in anywhere from -0.4% to 0.8%, a sharp decrease from fourth quarter 2024 results of 2.4%. Housing sales down Housing sales are sagging here in the U.S. Supply of existing homes stands at the highest level since 2016, nine years ago. Sales numbers are down to the lowest levels in 14 years. U.S./Chinese trade down American trade with China is taking a hit. Vizion Global Ocean Bookings Tracker records a 44% decline on trade, year-over-year. Overall, U.S. imports are down 22%, year-over-year. Abortion Kill Pill 22 times more dangerous than first reported About two-thirds of the officially-recorded abortions in this country are now conducted by the Abortion Kill Pill. But now comes this -- the “largest-known study of the abortion pill,” conducted by the Ethics and Public Policy Center. Complications with the Abortion Kill Pill are 22 times higher than first reported. Based on extensive research on hundreds of thousands of insurance claims, 10% of women who take the mifepristone kill pill suffer from a serious adverse event, such as an infection or hemorrhage soon afterward. Trinity Evangelical Divinity Seminary caves for survival And finally, a major U.S. evangelical seminary is moving to Canada. Trinity Evangelical Divinity Seminary in Illinois will be joining forces with Trinity Western University in British Columbia. But Trinity Western capitulated to Canada's requirement that students not sign a covenant prohibiting “sexual activity outside of marriage between a man and a woman.” Trinity Divinity School was formed to train ministers for the Evangelical Free Church of America back in 1897. Full time enrollment has dropped from 897 to 402 over the last twenty years. Foundations of Amateur Radio One of the basic aspects of being human and growing up is the process of learning. From a young age we explore our environment, play with others, have fun, fall over and bruise our knees, get up and try again. The playing aspect of this is often discussed as a way to keep things interesting. We add a competition element as an added incentive, so much so that we formaulate it into global competitions and call it sport. As a species it might surprise you that we spend about 1% of all Gross Domestic Product on sport, compared to science, which is about 2% of Global GDP. To give you some context, Agriculture accounts for about 4%, Manufacturing is 15%, Industry is about 26%, and Services account for roughly 62%. If you noticed that this is more than 100%, take it up with the World Bank, I'm a radio amateur, not an economist. Over the years I've explored different aspects of our chosen hobby of amateur radio. Time and again I return to experimentation, learning and having fun. Now I absolutely concede that my idea of fun and yours might not match, my GDP side quest is likely evidence of this, but in my opinion, this embodies the range of how we as a disparate community interact and exchange ideas across the ionosphere and closer to home using what we all can agree on is pretty close to magic. So, what is my point? Fair question. Having fun and learning. If you've ever had the opportunity to listen to aviation radio, and I'd encourage you to, the YouTube channel, VASAviation is a great place to start, comes with maps, explanations and subtitles. You'll discover that the complex domain of aviation communication is a dynamic environment where miscommunication matters and often has severe consequences. It's not all incidents and accidents though. If you look for Air Traffic Control legend "Kennedy Steve", you'll come across some of the funniest exchanges captured on ATC frequencies, all the while staying professional. So, how does this relate to amateur radio and you? Well, at the moment we have a few types of exchanges where we can practice our skills. The most obvious one is a thing we call contesting. A scored and rule bound activity where you're expected to exchange information and are declared the winner in a category. It's a little like sport and some have attempted to rephrase amateur radio contesting into a field that they're calling "radio sport". I have mixed feelings about this because there isn't much in the way of spectator activity associated with this. Another exchange is calling for DX contacts, sharing an exchange across distance, attempting to contact as many countries as possible, with the prize being membership into the fabled DXCC, the Century Club that acknowledges your prowess in making contact with a hundred countries. The most common exchange is the net or discussion group. It can be formal, like the weekly F-troop I've been hosting since 2011, or it can be ad hoc, one amateur chatting to another, sparking spontaneous discussion among several stations on frequency. We also do things like radio direction finding, someone sets up a transmitter and everyone playing tries to find the source as quickly as possible. First one to find it wins. It made me wonder if there are other things we might come up with. Has anyone played chess across HF? Or if you want to involve a larger group, what about playing Bingo! or a game of trivia? Anyone considered an MMORPG, or Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game? The point being that we can play games, have fun, and learn in an environment where there are many factors affecting your ability to communicate, so we can all get better at keying the microphone and getting the message to the intended recipient. While we're having fun, nobody said that this needs to be a voice activity. An FT8 session could well be coerced into transmitting chess moves and nobody said that you have to do FT8 on the same frequency that WSJT-X is using. So, what games can you come up with and learn from? I'm Onno VK6FLAB
The cost of health care has been rising worldwide. People all over the world are feeling the pinch. And out of all the countries around the world, Americans spend the most on healthcare. According to US government data: “U.S. health care spending grew 7.5 percent in 2023, reaching $4.9 trillion or $14,570 per person. As a share of the nation's Gross Domestic Product, health spending accounted for 17.6 percent.” But what if I told you there are things you can do, at no cost, that can have an over-sized impact on your health? Is it too good to be true? Ok, let me re-phrase that. There is a cost. There is always a cost. But the costs I'm talking about are not dollars, pounds or euros, but small changes in your life. They take a little bit of time and effort. And they come out of the pages of the Bible. But they carry no hit to your wallet or pocketbook. So, join us today on Tomorrow's World, as we unlock “Three Biblical Keys to Better Health.”
The Finance and Growth Minister is confident the economic turnaround will continue. Latest figures show we're officially out of recession, after our economy grew 0.7% between October and December. Nicola Willis says we're going to continue to see growth in tourism and agriculture exports. She told Mike Hosking households should also be getting more disposable income as they switch over to lower mortgage rates, that will flow through into the economy. Willis says the consensus among forecasters is for growth to accelerate this year. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
If you accept that the Government are struggling in the polls, you may well accept the general notion that part of what is driving that is the lack of runs on the board. Perhaps an impatience is frustrating some of us. We voted to get rid of the last lot on the understanding that things had been wrecked and destroyed, and there was this new lot that were going to put it right. The trouble has been, as they have tried to explain, that things like fiscal cliffs were a lot worse than anticipated and the problem with too many voters is we vote and move on, and then when we re-engage, we expect fixes to problems that are more complex than we gave them credit for. This Government has announced a lot and changed a lot. But the simple to read “runs on the board” are only starting to trickle through. The downturn on crime would be one of them. The police focus on rounding a few people up, so we feel safer on the streets is tangible. The targets on emergency housing being met years ahead of schedule is another one. Then yesterday the Gross Domestic Product, the GDP, which is surely one of the most important of all. It is the economy and the economy is everything. It pays the bills, retires the debt, forks out for the programmes and sets the mood of the nation. If you are growing, and as it turns out (thank the good Lord) we are, you are moving forward and moving forward is what gets Governments popular and re-elected. Everyone, as in the experts, had the number at anywhere between 0.3% and 0.5%, still importantly in the right direction. So the actual figure of 0.7% is better than expected and must be the best of news. For a country that has spent more time in recession than virtually anyone, certainly anyone we compare ourselves to in the OECD, this cannot be overstated in terms of importance. 0.7% surely comes with a sense that there is more where that came from. So maybe, just maybe, we can turn our backs on the dark days, or years, that have dragged this country to places economically it has never really been. No, it is not over and, yes, there is much left to do. But such a decent and, dare I suggest, better than expected number will tell you that the current Government might have got a grip on the worst of it and turned the tide. An economist is warning not to expect big growth in GDP figures out today. Data —due out from Stats NZ just before 11 this morning— is expected to show the economy has been pulled out of recession, but is still crawling to recovery. Economists are predicting growth of between 0.3 and 0.5%. Westpac senior economist Michael Gordon told Ryan Bridge he's predicting flat growth in the fourth quarter. He says there have been signs things are turning, but it's likely to have happened in the beginning of this year. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
New Zealand is believed to be crawling to economic recovery. Figures —due out from Stats NZ this morning— are expected to show the economy grew between 0.3 and 0.5% in the three months to December. That would lift New Zealand out of technical recession, but further growth will be slow. ASB chief economist Nick Tuffley told Francesca Rudkin an uplift in agriculture in quarter four will have helped. He says the sector —particularly dairy— had a strong lift into Christmas. Here in the United States, Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency have identified 16 million Americans between ages 110 and 369 receiving checks or multiple checks from the Social Security Administration. Quite bizarre! According to gerontology wiki, there are only 32 living Americans over 110 years of age. In a separate X post, Musk wrote, “There are FAR more ‘eligible' social security numbers than there are citizens in the USA. This might be the biggest fraud in history." First generation immigrants use more welfare than native born citizens The Center for Immigration Studies reported last year that 54% of first generation immigrant households in the United States access welfare programs, compared to 39% of U.S.-born households. U.S. immigrants who are most dependent on socialism are those from Africa. 46% of these immigrants use three or more welfare programs, 37% of immigrants from South America use three or more welfare programs. President Trump has long insisted that our European allies need to pay more for their own defense, most recently by allocating fully five percent of Gross Domestic Product. Therefore, the Europeans have spent with impunity on “butter” while letting us largely pay for the “guns.” Most balked at honoring even their NATO commitment to spend two percent. Mr. Trump's unilateral negotiations with Russia on ending the Ukraine war, however, are concentrating the Europeans' minds. They fear Vladimir Putin's territorial ambitions will not be satisfied by a deal legitimating his seizure of much of Ukraine and that America's announced re-focus on the growing Chinese threat risks a security vacuum on the continent. TBD is whether the allies will opt for appeasing Russia or take more responsibility for their own security – sensibly inside NATO or via a duplicative and inevitably inadequate European military structure. It's Wednesday, February 5th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Pakistani Christian brothers released from prison Praise God! Two Christian brothers are now free from prison in Pakistan. A court acquitted the twin brothers last month. Eighteen-year-olds Sahil and Raheel Shahid were facing false Islamic blasphemy accusations. The brothers' attorney told Morning Star News, “We believe that this case was a conspiracy against the Christian residents so that vested interests could grab their land and properties.” False blasphemy accusations are an increasing problem in Pakistan, a 97%-Muslim nation, The country is ranked 8th on the Open Doors' World Watch List of the most difficult places to be a Christian. Countries in which religious nationalism predominates Pew Research released a global report on religious nationalism. The report identified religious nationalists as people who believe in the historically predominant religion of their country and believe that their religion should influence their laws and leaders. Religious nationalism was most common in Kenya for countries with Christian roots. For Buddhists, the country with the most religious nationalism was Thailand. For Hindus, it was India. For Jews, it was Israel. And for Muslims, it was Indonesia and Bangladesh. Religious nationalism for Christians was most common in Africa and South America while being the least common in Europe. The United States was somewhere in-between with just 6% of adults identifying as religious nationalists. Psalm 33:12 says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.” Senator Cassidy explained his conditional support of RFK, Jr. In the United States, Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, a moderate Republican who voted to convict President Donald Trump in February 2021 of “incitement of insurrection”, was a key vote as member of the Senate Finance Committee which considered Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to be the next Secretary of Health and Human Services. As a physician, Senator Cassidy was especially concerned with Kennedy's questions about a possible link between childhood vaccines and autism. Before the committee vote, Cassidy made this statement from the Senate floor. CASSIDY: “Now, Mr. Kennedy and the administration reached out seeking to reassure me regarding their commitment to protecting the public health benefit of vaccination. To this end, Mr. Kennedy and the administration committed that he and I would have an unprecedentedly close, collaborative working relationship if he is confirmed. “We will meet or speak multiple times a month. If confirmed, he will maintain the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommendations without changes. CDC will not remove statements on their website, pointing out that vaccines do not cause autism. “He committed that they help committee chair, whether it's me or someone else, may choose a representative on any board or commission formed to review vaccine safety. These commitments, and my expectation that we can have a great working relationship to make America healthy again, is the basis of my support. “If Mr. Kennedy is confirmed, I will use my authority as chairman of the Senate committee, with oversight of HHS, to rebuff any attempt to remove the public's access to life-saving vaccines without iron-clad, causational, scientific evidence that can be accepted and defended before the mainstream scientific community and before Congress.” RFK, Jr. voted out of Senate Committee On Tuesday, the U.S. Senate Finance Committee voted to advance President Donald Trump's nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. The committee voted 14-13 along party lines. Committee Chair Mike Crapo of Idaho oversaw the committee vote. CRAPO: “We now have not only a quorum, but all members of the committee are present. I move that the committee favorably report the nomination of the Honorable Robert F. Kennedy, Jr of California to be Secretary of Health and Human Services. Is there a second?” COMMITTEE MEMBER: “Second.” CLERK: “Mr. Chairman, the final tally was 14 ayes, 13 nays. CRAPO: “The vote was 14-13. The nomination is reported favorably.” Kennedy's nomination now goes before the full U.S. Senate where he needs a simple majority or a minimum of 51 votes to be confirmed. Trump: Military will no longer pay for abortion travel Last Tuesday, the Trump administration announced the military will no longer cover travel expenses for services members to get abortions. U.S. Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama notably stood against the Defense Department's funding for abortion under Biden's leadership. He said, “For the past two years, I have been sounding the alarm about the Pentagon's illegal and immoral practice of using taxpayer dollars to fund abortions. I took a lot of heat when I stood alone for nearly a year in holding senior Pentagon promotions over this—but as of today, it was all worth it.” Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Department of Education getting phased down The Trump administration is beginning to scale back the Department of Education. Already, the administration has placed dozens of employees on paid administrative leave. This is part of a broader effort to remove hires based on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. The administration is also working on an executive order that would begin the process of eliminating the Education Department entirely. GDP slowed In economic news, the U.S. Gross Domestic Product slowed down during the last three months of 2024. The economy grew by 2.3% during the fourth quarter of last year, down from 3.1% during the third quarter. Economists had expected 2.5% growth for the fourth quarter. Also, the Federal Reserve held its key interest rate at 4.25%-4.5%, saying inflation remains somewhat elevated. The Fed cut interest rates three times since September 2024 and President Trump is calling for more cuts. Virginia voted down anti-homeschooling bill Virginia lawmakers voted down a bill that would have eliminated the religious exemption from the state's public education requirements. The bill would have added many regulations for parents who educate their children at home for religious reasons. Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin wrote on X, “I stand with parents across Virginia in opposition to Senate Bill 1031. We cannot allow this attack on homeschooling to become law.” Court: San Francisco must rehire employees who refused COVID shot And finally, a federal appeals court ruled in favor of Christian employees who were fired for not getting a COVID-19 shot in California. The city of San Francisco must now rehire workers who were terminated for refusing the shot. The ruling stated, “Appellants' coerced decision between their faith and their livelihood imposed emotional damage which cannot now be fully undone. … [San Francisco's] finding that Appellants' religious beliefs were insufficient to warrant any accommodations can only be described as a ‘dignitary affront.' ... The circumstances surrounding Appellants' termination constitute irreparable harm.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, February 5th, in the year of our Lord 2025. The latest Gross Domestic Product report reveals that the American economy is experiencing steady growth, with a 2.3% annualized rate for the last quarter of 2024. This growth is largely driven by strong consumer spending, which has been bolstered by low unemployment and rising real wages. Notably, spending on goods surged by 6.6%, marking the fastest quarterly growth since the pandemic recovery, while service sector spending also saw a healthy increase. Despite some sectors, like business investments, showing signs of slowing down, the overall economy demonstrates resilience, particularly in the auto industry. An article from the Washington Post highlights a significant shift in the landscape of American businesses, noting that while small businesses account for about 60% of all American businesses, a growing majority of workers are now employed by larger firms. This trend has been exacerbated by policy decisions favoring larger corporations since the 1970s. The article points out that while certain sectors, such as the restaurant industry, have thrived, many others have struggled, leading to a decline in the number of small businesses. As a result, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are increasingly turning to managed service providers (MSPs) for support in navigating the complex technology landscape.A recent report from JumpCloud indicates that over 93% of SMEs are either currently using or considering the use of MSPs, with a notable increase in those fully outsourcing their IT management. This trend underscores the challenges faced by IT teams, including rising costs and security threats, prompting a shift towards proactive management solutions. As MSP partnerships grow, a significant portion of small businesses plans to increase their investments in these providers over the next year, highlighting the critical role MSPs play in helping smaller firms remain competitive in a rapidly changing economic environment. In the tech sector, Apple and Microsoft recently reported their earnings, revealing contrasting fortunes. Apple experienced a decline in iPhone sales but saw overall revenue growth, driven by its services division. Meanwhile, Microsoft faced skepticism regarding its AI investments despite strong revenue growth, as concerns about monetization and competition from other AI models emerged. TeamLogic IT, a managed IT services franchise, reported significant growth, surpassing $1 billion in total sales and aiming to expand to 500 locations by 2030. This highlights the viability of franchised service models in the competitive mid-market space, emphasizing the need for differentiation through expertise and high-touch service. As soon as this Saturday, U.S. president Donald Trump could impose punishing tariffs on Canadian goods that are sold south of the border. That would have a big impact on this province's mining sector. Mining accounts for 7.3 percent of NL's Gross Domestic Product. Amanda McCallum is the CEO of the Mining Association of Newfoundland and Labrador. She spoke with the CBC's Elizabeth Whitten.
It's Tuesday, January 28th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Brazil's Leftist president a liability Brazil's Left-wing president is not doing well in the polls. Luiz Inácio da Silva's ratings have dipped to 47%. Lula's deficits are running 9.5% of the Brazilian Gross Domestic Product which is the measure of the total value of goods and services produced in a country over a year. The Brazil Real, which is worth 16 cents in America, has dropped 16% in reference to the U.S. dollar since he took office. The Real took the dubious award for the worst-performing major currency in 2024, reports The Economist. Brazil's debt to GDP also increased from 71% to 78% in 2024 Milei's conservative policies boosted Argentina's economy Meanwhile, just south of Brazil, Argentina's government under President Javier Milei has successfully reduced the nation's Debt to GDP ratio in 2024 from 155% to 112%. Milei's fiscally conservative policies also improved the nation's Gross Domestic Product slightly, year over year. South Africa seizing private property without compensation And, last week, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa signed a bill into law that would allow the national government to seize private property without having to pay compensation. The confiscations will be allowed where it is “just and equitable and in the public interest.” The radical measure has fired up disunity among parties in the new South African government. Power shifted a bit in South African government after last year's election. The African National Congress and the South African Communist Party dropped from 68% to 49.7% control over the nation's government. Redistribution of the land has not yielded good results thus far for the South African people. Business Day reported that “On-farm beneficiaries earn little-to-no income, and the majority of beneficiaries seek employment on surrounding commercial farms instead of actively farming their own land. Where land reform farms are in operation, they operate below their full commercial potential and have a strong bias towards subsistence agriculture. Across sampled sites, crop production had decreased by 79% since conversion to land reform.” God's law states plainly, “Thou shalt not steal.” (Exodus 20:15) Trump's administration arrested 2,500 illegals since Thursday The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency has already arrested 2,500 illegal immigrants since last Thursday, 956 on Sunday, reports One America News. This isn't the first time the United States has deported illegal immigrants. The previous administration averaged about 311 deportations per day, according to ICE reports. About one-third of deportations in 2023 were individuals facing serious charges or convictions of crime as well as 237 known terrorists. Democrats oppose protecting baby survivors of botched abortions The U.S. Congress still has proven itself incapable of taking the most basic pro-life position against the greatest evil in American society today. Republican Senator James Lankford's Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act failed again last Thursday, as 47 Democrats voted against allowing the bill to proceed in the Senate. Listen to what Republican Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota said about the Democrat opposition. THUNE: “We should all be able to agree that a baby born alive after an attempted abortion must be protected. And yet, I fully expect that later today, my Democrat colleagues will vote no on this legislation. “They will vote against protection for a living, breathing newborn baby simply because that child has been born alive after an attempted abortion. Why are they going to vote like that, Mr. President? After all, I think most Democrats would still claim to oppose infanticide, even if the moral line at times appears to be slipping. And yet, Democrats are going to vote against legislation to provide appropriate medical care to living, breathing, newborn children.” Be sure of this: “Though they join forces, the wicked will not go unpunished; But the posterity of the righteous will be delivered.” (Proverbs 11:21) Rubio halts all foreign spending except for Israel, Egypt, & emergency food assistance Politico reports that Secretary of State Marco Rubio has halted all foreign aid spending for 90 days, including distributions to Ukraine. However, the order exempts foreign military financing for Egypt and Israel, and allows for emergency food assistance and “legitimate expenses incurred prior to the date of this” guidance “under existing awards.” 11% now delinquent on mortgage Commercial Mortgage-Backed Security reports the highest delinquency rate on mortgages in recorded history going back into the 1990s — now at 11%. That's up from 2% in 2023. Coresight, which tracks store closures, recorded a total of 7,325 retail stores shuttered up last year — a 67% increase over 2023. Family Dollar and CVS were the big losers. Amazon, Walmart, and Costco had big years. Coresight estimates 15,000 closures this year to include Party City, Big Lots, and Walgreens, reports CNBC. 75% of Christian men & 40% of Christian women use porn Barna Group and Pure Desire Ministries issued their 2024 “Beyond the Porn Phenomenon” report concluding that pornography use has increased 11% over the last eight years. Seventy-five percent of Christian men and 40 percent of Christian women report that they are viewing pornography at least occasionally, and 60% are addicted. About half of practicing Christians say they are comfortable with the habit. Also, the younger generation (or Gen Zers) were the least likely to express comfort with how much porn they use. Gen Zers were almost twice as likely to say they wished they didn't use pornography at all, as compared to older generations. John Piper cites 2 Biblical motivations not to use porn Pastor John Piper addressed the porn problem in his recent “Ask Pastor John” podcast. PIPER: “The biblical principle of motivation for purity, for not pursuing or indulging in sexual pleasure where it ought not to be found, is that the Bible uses fear and hope to draw us away from impurity. You hear both of these, for example, in Romans 8:13. “‘If you live according to the flesh, you will die. But if, by the Spirit, you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.' So, if you spend your life giving into lust, the lust of the flesh, you perish. Now, that's meant to make us afraid. It's meant to strike fear into our hearts so that we turn away, flee from temptations of the flesh. “But then he says, ‘If by the Spirit, you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.' And that's meant to awaken hope. In the power of the hope, pursue this purity and not sin. So, the Bible uses both fear and hope, threat and promise.” He points to the Gospel motive from 1 Peter 2:24. It says, “He Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.” Pastor Piper emphasized that “Christ purchased the power not to sin.” Pray for Pastor John MacArthur's recovery after heart surgery And finally, Pastor John MacArthur, the host of the radio program Grace to You, remains in the hospital following heart valve surgery, dealing with ongoing issues with his heart, lungs and kidney. Grace Community Church Elder Phil Johnson took to X to correct rumors that the pastor was dying. Johnson is urging fellow believers to “keep him in your prayers.” Please pray for his recovery and send a get well card to Pastor John MacArthur, Grace Community Church, 13248 Roscoe Blvd, Sun Valley, CA 91352. There's uncertainty if the Reserve Bank will change tack following the revelation of New Zealand's deep recession. Stats NZ figures out yesterday show GDP fell 1% in the three months to September. It's also revised the preceding quarter down to 1.1% contraction. Former Reserve Bank Economist Michael Reddell says it did achieve its goal of bringing inflation under control. He told Heather du Plessis-Allan he doubts they'll ramp up the size of OCR cuts next year in response to the recession. Reddell says it's more likely they'll go ahead with a 50 basis point cut, then tail them off next year. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
There's an expectation that weakness in the last economic quarter is behind the country's slump. Stats NZ reports gross domestic product dropped 1% in the September quarter. We're now in our deepest recession since the Covid-driven slump of 2020. Westpac Senior Economist Michael Gordon told Heather du Plessis-Allan that the grind the country has been experiencing throughout the year is now showing up a bit more fully than in the last GDP numbers. He says one thing that stood out was the recognition of the cutbacks in the public sector, which weren't being fully captured in the figures from three months ago. It's Friday, December 6th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus and Jonathan Clark Pastor charged with converting people through prayer A Baptist pastor in India, Pranjal Bhuyan, who also works as a teacher, was arrested last week in the Northeastern state of Assam following complaints from villagers that he was attempting to convert people through prayers, reports International Christian Concern. Attempting to heal people by praying for them is illegal under the Prevention of Evil Practices Act, enacted in February. This law purportedly wants to create science-based knowledge and a safe environment to protect human health. It also aims to end “evil” and “sinister practices” that lawmakers believe thrive on ignorance and people's ill health. The law criminalizes practices resorting to “magical healing” (prayers) and stipulates a three-year jail term and a fine for violations. Christian leaders believe the legislation is ultimately an attempt to restrict and curb the spread of Christianity in Assam. Pastor Bhuyan now holds the dubious distinction of being the first person to be arrested under this law. According to Open Doors, India is the 11th most difficult country worldwide in which to be a Christian. British young people are advocating for the unborn BBC One aired a documentary last week called “Young, British, and Anti-Abortion.” The film shows the rise of pro-life activism among members of Gen Z. One pro-lifer featured in the documentary was Eden McCourt of Abortion Resistance. She has received over 3.4 million views with her content online. Filmmaker Poppy Jay noted, “These activists are young, and they are in it for the long term. They know they are not going to change anyone's mind overnight, and their strong social media presence is just giving them more confidence. Yes, they might be a vocal minority, but they are effective at getting their message across.” In 1 Timothy 4:12, the Apostle Paul told Timothy, “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” Jeff Bezos applauds Trump's attack on regulations, stands by not endorsing Kamala Harris Amazon founder — and Washington Post owner — Jeff Bezos rarely speaks in public. And to get him to talk about politics in public is an even bigger feat. Political commentator Chris Cillizza said that Bezos did both on Wednesday — sitting down with the New York Times' Andrew Ross Sorkin. BEZOS: “If we're talking about Trump, I think it's very interesting. I'm actually very optimistic this time around. He seems to have a lot of energy around reducing regulation. And my point of view, if I can help him do that, I'm going to help him. Because we do have too much regulation.” Bezos suggested an economic growth strategy that would outpace the growth of the national debt. BEZOS: “This country is so set up to grow. If you look at the national debt, and how gigantic it is as a portion of [the Gross Domestic Product], these are real problems, and they're real long-term problems. The way you get out of them is by outgrowing them. “You're going to solve the problem of the national debt by making it a smaller percentage of GDP, not by shrinking the national debt, but by growing the GDP. You have to grow the denominator. That means you have to grow GDP at 3%, 4%, 5% a year and let the national debt grow slower than that. If you can do that, this is a very manageable problem.” In an attempt to appease Trump, Bezos applauded the President-elect's vision to cut regulations. BEZOS: “There are so many advantages here, but we are burdened by excessive permitting and regulation. President Trump is serious about this regulatory agenda, and I think he has a good chance of succeeding.” The New York Times interviewer, Andrew Sorkin, pointed to the blowback that Jeff Bezos received as owner of the Washington Post when he ordered the editorial staff not to endorse Kamala Harris for president and simply remain neutral on the editorial page instead. SORKIN: “Marty Baron, who was your former editor of that paper, he said, ‘This is cowardice with democracy as its casualty.'” BEZOS: “It was the right decision. I'm proud of the decision we made, and it was far from cowardly, because we knew there would be blowback, and we did the right thing anyway.” SORKIN: “Okay, so let me ask you about that though. There was blowback. I think 250,000 people canceled their subscriptions.” Political commentator Chris Cillizza offered his analysis. CILLIZZA: “He does not want to make an enemy of the incoming president of the United States who has already targeted him repeatedly during his first term. So, I think this is of a piece with Bezos' decision to not run an editorial that, from the Washington Post editorial board, that endorsed Kamala Harris. He defended that decision. He said it wasn't cowardly; it was brave. Look, I think this is, at root, probably a business decision.” Congress definitively concludes COVID-19 came from Wuhan, China lab On December 2nd, the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic concluded its two-year investigation into the COVID-19 pandemic. They released a final report entitled “After Action Review of the COVID-19 Pandemic: The Lessons Learned and a Path Forward.” Since February 2023, the Select Subcommittee has sent more than 100 investigative letters, conducted more than 30 transcribed interviews and depositions, held 25 hearings and meetings, and reviewed more than one million pages of documents. In their 520-page final report, which we have linked in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com, the Select Subcommittee's investigation documents the five strongest arguments which demonstrate that COVID-19 most likely emerged from a laboratory in Wuhan, China. First, the virus possesses a biological characteristic that is not found in nature. Second, data shows that all COVID-19 cases stem from a single introduction into humans. This runs contrary to previous pandemics where there were multiple spillover events. Third, Wuhan is home to China's foremost Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome research lab, which has a history of conducting gain-of-function research at inadequate biosafety levels. Fourth, researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology were sick with a COVID-like virus in the fall of 2019, months before COVID-19 was discovered at the wet market. And fifth, by nearly all measures of science, if there was evidence of a natural origin it would have already surfaced. Anti-Bible PCUSA denomination has lost a million members And finally, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) released its annual statistics report on Tuesday. The mainline Protestant denomination, which continues to reject Biblical orthodoxy, now has about one million fewer active members or half as many as it did in 2009. The denomination had 1.094 million members last year, down 46,000 from 2022. Member congregations also declined during the same period. The mainline denomination's decline comes as it became accepting of sexually perverted lifestyles. Leviticus 18:22 says, “Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Friday, December 6th, in the year of our Lord 2024. Such persecution includes physical violence, murder, threats, damage to property, and disruption of prayer services. A.C. Michael with United Christian Forum said, “In 2023, we recorded about 750 incidents, which means two Christians were attacked every day in our country. These are organized acts of violence by pro-Hindu groups targeting Christian faiths.” The organization's latest report documented 673 incidents of violence and discrimination this year between January and October. India is ranked 11th on the Open Doors' World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian. This brings a two-month pause to 14 months of fighting between to the two sides in southern Lebanon. The United States and France brokered the agreement. The incoming administration of President-elect Donald Trump claimed credit for the deal. Florida Rep. Mike Waltz is Trump's pick for national security adviser. He posted on X, “Everyone is coming to the table because of President Trump. His resounding victory sent a clear message to the rest of the world that chaos won't be tolerated. I'm glad to see concrete steps towards de-escalation in the Middle East.” China released three detained American citizens Speaking of coming to the table, China released three American citizens it had detained for years. The White House announced the prisoner swap yesterday. The three Americans are Mark Swidan, Kai Li, and John Leung. The United States had designated them as wrongfully detained. This comes just months after China released David Lin, a Christian pastor from California, who was detained for 20 years in China. Judged halted sentencing of 7 pro-life activists Last Tuesday, a federal judge in Michigan halted the sentencing of seven pro-life activists. The pro-lifers were convicted under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act. Some faced over 10 years in prison for protesting at abortion mills. Judge Matthew Leitman delayed proceedings until after Donald Trump takes office. Trump has already promised to review the cases of those “unjustly victimized by the Biden regime” and get them “back to their families where they belong.” Supreme Court takes up Tennessee transgender case The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments in a major transgender case next Wednesday. The case involves a Tennessee law that protects children from transgender drugs and procedures intended to enable children to pretend to be the opposite sex. Tennessee House of Representatives Majority Leader William Lamberth co-sponsored the measure. He told Reuters, “This case is about protecting vulnerable young people who are experiencing gender dysphoria or other mental health crises from making the biggest mistake of their lives.” You can sign a prayer commitment for the case through Alliance Defending Freedom which is linked in today's transcript at TheWorldview.com. U.S. economy grew 2.8% The U.S. economy grew by 2.8% on an annual basis during the third quarter of this year. The Gross Domestic Product is slightly down from 3% during the second quarter. However, the U.S. has seen growth of over 2% for eight out of the last nine quarters. Consumer spending, along with an increase in exports, contributed the latest economic growth. America's history of Thanksgiving The first official National Proclamation of Thanksgiving in America was issued by the Continental Congress on November 1, 1777, in celebration of the victory against the British at the Battle of Saratoga. In 1941, as America confronted a world at war, Congress voted to establish Thanksgiving as a national holiday. In his first Thanksgiving proclamation, President Ronald Reagan wrote: “America has much for which to be thankful. The unequaled freedom enjoyed by our citizens has provided a harvest of plenty to this Nation throughout its history. In keeping with America's heritage, one day each year is set aside for giving thanks to God for all of His blessings. … “Searching our hearts, we should ask what we can do as individuals to demonstrate our gratitude to God for all He has done. Such reflection can only add to the significance of this precious day of remembrance. “Let us recommit ourselves to that devotion to God and family that has played such an important role in making this a great Nation, and which will be needed as a source of strength if we are to remain a great people.” Most popular Thanksgiving verses And finally, Lifeway Research shared the most popular Bible verses during Thanksgiving based on analysis from YouVersion's Bible app. Verses from the Psalms were among the most popular verses in recent years. Lifeway shared 11 verses that appeared on the list of most popular verses at Thanksgiving at least twice during the last five years. Here are the top three: Numbers 6:24-26 says, “May the Lord bless you and protect you; may the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; may the Lord look with favor on you and give you peace.” 1 Chronicles 16:34 says, “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever.” Psalm 100:4-5 says, “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and bless His name. For the Lord is good, and His faithful love endures forever; His faithfulness, through all generations.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 28th, in the year of our Lord 2024. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Cuban Communists levying fines against churches A group of 63 Cuban Christian leaders, called the Alliance of Christians of Cuba is speaking out against the nation's persecution of churches. The Communist government has levied at least $43,000 in fines against Christian churches in 69 separate cases thus far this year. That's equivalent to $1.4 million in the American economy, given the differences in median income for Cuba. The nation is facing its worst economic crisis in decades. The Alliance of Christians of Cuba is calling the Cuban government “to protect fundamental human rights including the right to freedom of religion or belief.” Ukrainian official: “World War III has already begun” The authorization by the United Kingdom and the United States of the use of long-range missiles by the Ukrainian side in the Russian-Ukrainian war has led to heightened international tensions. Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine's ambassador to the UK who formerly served as the Commander-in-Chief of the armies, publicly stated that "World War III has already begun,” reports Breitbart. He was referencing recently increased assistance on the Russian side with Iran, China, and North Korea technology and forces. Special Counsel Jack Smith drops all charges against Trump On Monday, Special counsel Jack Smith filed motions to drop all federal charges against President-elect Donald Trump regarding both his mishandling of classified documents and his effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election in the lead-up to the January 6th riot at the U.S Capitol, reports NBC News. Hours later, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan granted Smith's motion to dismiss the January 6-related indictment, formally bringing to an end the case that alleged Trump unlawfully conspired to overturn his 2020 loss to President Joe Biden. Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung called Smith's motions to dismiss a "major victory for the rule of law." He added, "The American people and President Trump want an immediate end to the political weaponization of our justice system and we look forward to uniting our country." Trump picks homosexual for Treasury Secretary President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Scott Bessent, a homosexual and long-time supporter and business associate of leftist billionaire George Soros to the key position of Treasury Secretary, reports The Epoch Times. The appointment would mark the most powerful position ever held by a homosexual in the history of American governance. Pro-lifers object to Robert F. Kennedy, Jr to HHS In addition, pro-lifers and Christians are registering their concerns with the appointment of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to the key position of Secretary of Health and Human Services. Elon Musk: Cut $300 million from Planned Parenthood In a Wall Street Journal column, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy announced their plans to cut federal expenditures dramatically. They specifically mentioned cutting $300 million from Planned Parenthood and $535 million from Public Broadcasting Service. Live Action, the pro-life group founded by Lila Rose, is spearheading a petition drive, urging key Trump cabinet members, like Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., to defund Planned Parenthood. The mushrooming national debt The U.S. federal debt is growing faster than the Gross Domestic Product which is the measure of a country's economic activity that reflects the monetary value of its goods and services. Still, the Debt to GDP ratio stands at 121%. That's up from 55% in 2001. President Biden drove up the debt by $7 trillion over three years, an average of $2.3 trillion per year. President Trump's budgets drove up the debt $8.5 trillion over four years, or $2.1 trillion per year. And the Obama administration jacked up the debt at a rate of $817 billion per year. Interest payments on the debt have topped 36% of total tax receipts. Pro-abortion groups spent 8x money as pro-life groups on referendums Pro-abortion forces spent eight times the money spent by pro-life efforts on the 2024 election referendums. Live Action News reports a total of $244 million spent by pro-abortion organizations on the ballot measures while the pro-lifers put in only $29 million. Psalm 37:35-36 testifies, “I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a native green tree. Yet he passed away, and behold, he was no more; Indeed, I sought him, but he could not be found.” Bitcoin skyrocketed since Trump landslide Bitcoin, the first decentralized cryptocurrency, almost breached the $100,000-per-share threshold over the weekend, reports CBS News. The Trump landslide stimulated a rush on cryptocurrency. Bitcoin has increased by 33% in value since November 5th. By contrast, gold slipped about 1% in value over the same time period, hovering around $2,700 an ounce. International adoptions down, 100,000 U.S. kids available for adoption And finally, international adoptions to families in the United States have dropped off sharply — now only 1,300 per year, reports Zero Hedge. That's down from 12,700 in 2009. The United Nations Children's Fund reports 153,000,000 orphans in the world. Most recent numbers indicate 368,000 U.S. children in foster care and over 100,000 available for adoption, while American families adopt around 100,000 children each year. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Brazilian homeschoolers growing despite opposition The Brazilian homeschooling movement is growing despite opposition from the leftist government of that country. Over the weekend, 3,000 homeschoolers gathered outside of Sao Paulo for a major conference and rallying point. Generations Radio and The Worldview supported the conference with speaking and resources. Reports of government prosecution of homeschooling families are on the rise, with at least twenty cases presently on record. Pray for Christian families under this spiritual and political push back. Psalm 78:5-6 encourages parents that God has “established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children; that the generation to come might know them, the children who would be born, that they may arise and declare them to their children.” German government collapsed last week Only hours after Trump's announced election last week, the national government of Germany collapsed. The multi-party based government was tenuous to begin with, but when Chancellor Olaf Scholz fired Finance Minister Christian Lindner, the government lost its majority in parliament. The government has also lost support from the populace. According to a recent survey, only 3% of the people called the present government “good for Germany.” Germany's economy shrinks as families have fewer babies Germany is the fourth largest economy in the world after the United States, the European Union, and China. Interestingly, Germany was the only economy of the Group of 7 nations to shrink last year. Thus far this year, the country is barely holding onto a 0.1% annual Gross Domestic Product increase based on data from the first three quarters. In addition, industrial production has been steadily decreasing since 2018. Germany's working age population will decrease more than every other G7 nation over the next five years due to low birth rates. Catholic Latino support for Trump doubled between ‘20 and ‘24 The Republicans gained more ground cultivating support from the Latino Catholic vote than any other major demographic in the 2024 presidential election. Trump support among Catholic Latinos increased from 28% in 2020 to 53% in 2024 — almost double! Support from the Catholic demographic in general for the Donald Trump presidential bid actually increased from 47% to 58% between 2020 and 2024. Republicans win U.S. House According to Decision Desk HQ, the Republicans won control of the U.S. House with 219 seats over the Democrats with 210 seats. 218 seats are necessary for a majority. Eric Metaxas: Pastors don't understand the times Pastor John Piper sparked a little controversy among Christian websites when he commented on the presidential election, noting that “[God] having delivered us from one evil, [He] now tests us with another.” The pastor referenced Deuteronomy 13:3, not to listen “to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the LORD your God is testing you, to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.” Citing 1 Chronicles 12:32, Christian commentator Eric Metaxas responded by saying, “Shame on these pastors for not being Sons of Issachar, but rather modern day Pharisees and Sadducees, not knowing Truth from a lie. Lord, deliver us from them.” Evangelical theologians discuss presidential election, pro-life movement Other leading evangelical theologians have commented on the election as well. Carl Trueman wrote that he “would be horrified if my children behaved as either of our two serious presidential candidates routinely do. The choice is a grim, but unavoidable one. ... Vote against the candidate who will do the most damage by policy.” And Albert Mohler, president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, opined that “the pro-life movement in the United States is in big, big trouble” based on recent losses at the ballot box. But he also said, “I'm thankful for the clarity that the American people achieved for the Republic. I think the choice, in this case, (for President) was also healthy for the Republic.” Trump appointed Rep. Elise Stefanik as Ambassador to United Nations President-elect Trump has appointed GOP Congresswoman Elise Stefanik of New York as the next Ambassador to the United Nations, reports ABC News. Stefanik has a 48% conservative voting record on Liberty Score. That compares to Rand Paul's 93% on the same rating. Stefanik voted to codify same-sex mirage into federal law back in 2022, and was in favor of the female draft in 2021. Federal Reserve cut reserve rate again The U.S. Federal Reserve Board voted to cut the reserve rate by another 25 basis points late last week. That follows a 50 basis point cut in September. The rate was just about 0% in January of 2022, at which point the Fed began increasing the rate all the way up to 5.33%. Trump election impacting market And finally, cryptocurrency prices shot up after the Trump election last week. Bitcoin is scraping $88,000. Gold dropped slightly from the $2,740 per ounce to the $2,670-per-ounce range. And the Dow Jones Industrial Average and Nasdaq stock indexes bumped up about 5% since the election. Don't let the presidential election be your investment indicator Presidential elections, especially this one, make people become very emotional, but don't let that sway you away from investing. Looking back to 1950, the S&P 500 index gained 12.1% per year under Democrats and 7.1% under Republicans. So based on that tad bit of information, you would think that Democrats are better for the stock market than Republicans. If we dig deeper, we will see that Nixon had a major negative impact as he left office in August 1974. This was at the end of the 73-74 market crash when the S&P 500 was down 48%. The other Republican who had bad timing was George W. Bush, who was in office from 2001 to 2009. The S&P 500 dropped 38% in 2008 during the Great Recession and wiped out all the previous gains in the stock market while George W. Bush was in office. Looking more recently, there were investors who hated Trump as President and when he got into office, they sold their stocks missing an average annual return of 13.8% per year while he was President. The same thing happened in 2020 when Joe Biden became president, many Republicans thought the world was coming to an end and sold their stocks. The gain in the stock market under Joe Biden so far has been an 11.9% average annual return. The best advice I can give you is do not look at the President for any type of analysis on stocks, there are so many other factors at play rather than just who is in the White House. Instead, I recommend you look at the equities you are investing in and ask yourself how will they do going forward. Ultimately, businesses will find ways to succeed regardless who the President of the United States is. Job openings continue to decline, is that a problem? In the September Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTs), job openings declined to 7.44 million. This was below both the expectation of 8.0 million and the prior month's reading of 7.9 million, which was revised lower by 179,000. This also marked the lowest level of job openings since January 2021. While this all sounds negative, there are still around 1.1 job openings per available worker. Also, this should be positive for inflationary concerns as the labor market is now more balanced when looking at the relationship between employers and employees. When employees have way more power like we saw over the last few years, it can have a big impact on wage inflation, which generally feeds through to overall inflation. While this isn't an overly exciting report, I believe it still shows the labor market is in a good place. I think we could see job openings even fall a little further before it would become a concern. Based on Friday's job report, it looks like the economy is in trouble, but it's not! We have not seen numbers like these in the jobs report since 2020 with nonfarm payrolls only increasing by 12,000 for the month. The expectation was job creation of 100,000 jobs. Why the big miss? Right off the bat the strike of Boeing was a loss of an estimated 44,000 jobs and who can forget the two hurricanes we had in the south. It's currently unclear how many jobs were lost during that timeframe due to those natural disasters. On the positive side, average hourly earnings did increase 0.4% for the month, which was above the estimate and the 12 month gain of 4% held steady. Revisions to August and September took out 112,000 jobs bringing the August number to only 78,000 and September's gain declined down to 223,000 jobs. Temporary jobs are sometimes seen as underlying strength of a job market, but they have declined by 577,000 jobs since March 2022. We don't feel this is the indicator that it used to be and we expect to see some reversal of temporary jobs for the holiday hiring season. This should start being reflected in the next month or two. The hurricanes in the south were a hit to leisure and hospitality as I'm sure many bars and restaurants were closed and the category saw drop of 4000 jobs in the month. Only two sectors in the job market saw increases which was healthcare as it added 52,000 jobs and government experienced an increase of 40,000 jobs. On the surface, the job report looks frightening, but we are out of hurricane season and heading into the holiday season. I think you'll see a reversal in the job market in the next 2 to 3 jobs reports, which should be rather positive. Not as positive as it was during the expansion when we were recovering from Covid, but definitely better than a 12,000 job increase! There are two meetings left for the Federal Reserve and I think this job's report would allow them to cut rates by a quarter point at the next meeting. For the last meeting of the year, we will wait for more economic data before predicting another rate. Is the US economy still growing? The GDP shows it is. While Q3 GDP, which stands for Gross Domestic Product, growth of 2.8% came in below the expectation of 3.1% and Q2's reading of 3.0%, it is nowhere near signs of a recession. It also points to a US economy that remains in a good spot, even though it may be slowing. Remember slowing and declining are very different! The consumer continued to remain a bright spot in the economy as personal consumption expenditures added 2.46% to the headline number. This was thanks to growth of 3.7% as service spending growth was 2.6% and goods spending growth was 6.0%. Durable goods in particular were quite strong as they grew 8.1% in the quarter. Gross private investment had little impact on the headline number as it added just 0.07% to the headline number. The change in private inventories subtracted 0.17% and residential investment continued to be a problem as it fell 5.1% and subtracted 0.21% from the headline number. This was largely offset by growth in equipment spending of 11.1%. Government spending also was a large factor in the quarter as it added 0.85% to the headline number in large part due to growth of 14.9% for national defense spending. The only major category that subtracted from the headline number was trade as it had a negative impact of 0.56%. While exports were up 8.9% in the quarter, imports were up even more at 11.2%. Overall, I'd say this was a good report. I would warn people that I would not be surprised to see growth slow in the quarters ahead, but I'm still not looking for a recession in the near term. Retirement Plan Allocations The majority of working people have some type of retirement plan through their employer like a 401(k) or 403(b), but many of those people don't pay enough attention to how those funds are invested. Employer retirement plans are great because they automate your savings so every paycheck you have a portion that gets invested. Over time this can build to a lot of money. There are also no income limits you have to worry about like with IRA accounts and you get the tax benefit from making tax-deferred or Roth contributions. However, in order to get the most out of the plan, you need to make sure you're choosing the best investment options within that plan. Every plan has a list of options called a fund lineup. These may include stock funds, bonds funds, balanced funds, asset allocation funds, real estate funds, and cash funds, all of which will have different expected growth rates. In many cases we see people choosing a random fund that they don't understand or the default option which is usually a target date fund or stable value fund. Target date funds generally have higher fees and an overconcentration of bonds which results in lower performance over time and a stable value fund is essentially cash which doesn't grow. It only takes a few minutes to update the investment options but taking the time to do it can result in thousands of extra dollars per month in retirement without actually contributing any more. Once you choose your investments, you typically don't need to adjust them too often, and in many cases, you can set up automatic rebalancing if you would like. Making sure your retirement plan is set up correctly is a simple thing everyone can do which will have a huge impact on your financial future. Companies Discussed: Chewy, Inc. It's Tuesday, July 23rd, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Hindus are beating up Christians in India Last month, on June 12th, a mob of vigilantes in Chhattisgarh, India knocked two Christians unconscious while three others were hospitalized with severe injuries, reports Open Doors. Before the mob banished Christian families from the village, the believers were forced into signing a statement that declared if they returned to the village, they would have to convert to Hinduism within 10 days. This coercion took place in the presence of and with the cooperation of local authorities. The Christians have now fled the village fearing that if they return they will be killed since they have no plans to renounce Jesus Christ as their Savior. In addition, on July 13th, a mob of more than 50 Hindu activists attacked a gathering of Christians organized by a local church in central India, reports International Christian Concern. Members of the mob beat those in attendance, including a 60-year-old woman who was punched in the face. Her face swelled up for more than three days. The Clintons, 16 governors, and 33 senators endorsed Kamala After President Joe Biden backed out of the 2024 presidential race, Bill and Hillary Clinton, 16 state governors, and 33 senators have thus far endorsed Kamala Harris for the Democrat Party nomination. Alexander Soros, the son of the well-known billionaire George Soros, and the Chair of Open Society Foundations, also endorsed Kamala Harris on X. He tweeted, “It's time for us all to unite around Kamala Harris and beat Donald Trump. She is the best and most qualified candidate we have. Long live the American Dream!” According to Breitbart, Alexander Soros has visited the Biden White House 17 times. However, holding off on endorsements are former President Barack Obama and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York. But Job said, “The Lord makes nations great, and destroys them; He enlarges nations, and guides them. He takes away the understanding of the chiefs of the people of the Earth, and makes them wander in a pathless wilderness. They grope in the dark without light, and He makes them stagger like a drunken man.” (Job 12:23-25) The financial shift from West to East World power is shifting from West to East The economic production of Russia, China, India, South Africa, and Brazil will grow from 16% of the total world economy in 1992 to an estimated 34% by the year 2028, reports GeoCapitalist.com. Meanwhile, the Western G7 nations drop from 46% to 28% over the same time period. South America depending on China South America is moving towards more economic dependence upon China. Chinese trade with South America has increased from $18 billion in 2002 to $450 billion in 2022, reports The Economist. And China's trade with Brazil increased by more than a third in the first two months of the year, according to The Financial Times. Venezuela: The economic disaster in South America Venezuela has become the worst economic disaster in South America. Since 2007, the country has been subjected to Marxist rule under President Hugo Chavez and his protégé' Nicolás Maduro. The nation's GDP fell from $316 billion to $114 billion since then. The nation will have an opportunity to elect another president this coming weekend, although doubts are high as to whether the current president will conduct fair elections. Venezuela has the lowest Gross Domestic Product per capita of South America — that's $8,500. Over 7 million people or 20% have fled the Marxist “paradise.” Proverbs 28:15 points out that ”Like a roaring lion or a charging bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people.” America's $1.9 trillion deficit The Congressional Budget Office is projecting a $1.9 trillion deficit this year. That's up $400 billion from what was originally estimated. And it's twice the average deficit spending under the 8-year-long Obama administration. The average deficit spending under the Trump administration was $2.06 trillion per year. The estimated average deficit spending per year under the Biden administration will be $1.75 trillion. By contrast, the average deficit spending under the Obama administration was only $817 billion per year. Rite Aid, Walgreens, and CVS shutter hundreds of pharmacies Since October, the pharmacy chain, Rite Aid, has closed 520 of its 2,111 stores. And now, Walgreen's Chief Executive Tim Wentworth told the Wall Street Journal that his company plans to shutter approximately 2,100 stores, which amounts to about a quarter of its retail outlets. CVS has closed 600 stores since 2022, and plans another 300 closures this year. Coincidentally, CVS and Walgreens began selling the abortion pill over the counter in March of this year. Historic First Baptist Dallas sanctuary burned down The historic sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Dallas, pastored by outspoken Trump supporter Robert Jeffress, burned to the ground late last week in a four-alarm fire, reported Fox 4. An emotional Pastor Jeffress shared his thoughts. JEFFRESS: “This sanctuary has been around since 1890. It was the home for our church for a long time until we moved to our new Worship Center about 12 years ago. “This historic sanctuary was the site of many personal events, including my own. I was baptized there when I was six. I was ordained for the ministry when I was 21. It holds a lot of memories.” Pastor Jeffress was grateful that no one was hurt. JEFFRESS: “But we thank God that nobody has been hurt. We had just concluded Vacation Bible School with over 2,000 kids. They were all gone. So, God has protected us through all of this. “I'm grateful that the church is not bricks and mortar or wood. It's people and the people of God will endure. First Baptist Dallas will endure. And we thank so many of our friends around the country who are praying for us right now.” The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives sent investigators to assist in determining the cause of the fire which is still unknown. The newer worship center where the congregation meets is still intact thankfully. While the girls were walking towards an ice cream truck outside their apartment complex they confronted the man who was forcibly removing a little girl by the wrist. They recorded the abduction with their phone cameras, and then asked him if he knew the girl. The man indicated he did, but the 6-year-old disagreed. Police subsequently arrested the man, and, at last report, the 40-year-old male, Hayder Albu Mohammed, has been charged with second-degree attempted kidnapping. Tom welcomes back Lawrence Lepard from EMA2 Equity Management Associates for a discussion on economic trends and the Federal Reserve's monetary policy. Lepard expresses concerns about the Fed's potential acceptance of a higher inflation rate due to rising U.S. interest expenses and a large budget deficit. Jerome Powell, the Fed chairman, is also contemplating rate cuts to support employment levels and government finances amidst ongoing inflation and uncertainty in unemployment data and Gross Domestic Product growth figures. Larry and Tom contemplate potential rate cut timelines, the possibility of a shift in Fed tactics, concerns over financial crises, and the potential impact of political events on the Fed's decisions before the upcoming election. The conversation shifts overseas to Japan's economic situation, with Lepard predicting that gold will reach new all-time highs due to Japan's reliance on imported oil and its shift towards purchasing oil in yen instead of dollars, potentially leading to a surge in gold demand and higher prices. Larry anticipates a decade-long bull market for gold and silver stocks as they are expected to double or even triple in value within the next 12 to 18 months due to higher metal prices, increased earnings, and potential dividends or stock buybacks. Larry expresses his investment preferences, focusing on companies that pay dividends or hold precious metals as treasury assets. He also emphasizes the importance of responsible capital management following lessons learned from previous cycles. Despite concerns about mergers and acquisitions for large companies during this period, Larry suggests they might pay higher prices later in the bull market instead of seizing opportunities at low prices now. Larry discusses his current projects, which include completing a quarterly report and writing a white paper on why sound money is crucial to solving the world's problems. He proposes making gold, silver, and Bitcoin legal tender, abolishing the Federal Reserve, letting banks fail if they engage in risky practices, and eliminating the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as steps towards progressing towards sounder money. It's Wednesday, June 26th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark 37 physical attacks on Christians in Israel in 2023 The Rossing Center for Education and Dialogue released a report this month entitled, “Attacks on Christians in Israel and East Jerusalem.” The report documented 33 attacks on church properties and 37 cases of physical attacks against Christians last year. The report noted, “While hostility towards the Christian presence has been a longstanding occurrence in some local communities, it has now escalated to a broader and more severe phenomenon.” And the report quoted the Cardinal of Jerusalem, Pier Battista Pizzaballa, who said, “These people, [the attackers], feel they are protected … that the cultural and political atmosphere now can justify, or tolerate, actions against Christians.” Liberian Methodist Bishop opposes American Methodist heresy Back in May, the United Methodist Church voted in favor of allowing those living sexually perverted lifestyles to be clergy. To its credit, the United Methodist Church in Liberia, Africa is opposing the decision. Liberian Bishop Samuel J. Quire Jr. released a statement this month. He wrote, “The Liberia Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church will not conduct any weddings or ordinations of self-avowed, practicing homosexuals. The Liberia Annual Conference … is traditional in its interpretation of Holy Scripture and will continue its evangelistic outreach to all persons who live in darkness and do not know the redemptive grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ.” I Corinthians 16:13 says, “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.” Franklin Graham champions religious liberty in Scotland FRANKLIN GRAHAM: “It is good to be in Glasgow.” Evangelist Franklin Graham preached to over 7,000 people in Glasgow, Scotland on Saturday. Listen to this clip from his sermon. GRAHAM: “Sin is a barrier. It's a wall. It blocks you from God. You see, God loves you, and He's willing to forgive our sins, but we have to come to Him, His way, and that's through the cross of Jesus Christ. You can hit the reset button. You've got a new start at life, but you have to make a choice.” Over 300 Scottish churches partnered with Graham for the event. One local pastor said, “We see depression, mental health problems, financial issues, we see it all. And it's not just our church, it's people all over Scotland. Nothing is going to help Scotland apart from Jesus.” One man in his 20s professed Jesus Christ as his Savior at the crusade. NEW CHRISTIAN: “I went up tonight because Franklin is so powerful in his Word. He said, ‘Get up out your seat.' I had to get up out of my seat. I had to get there. I didn't realize that there was going to be two to three thousand people behind me. It gives me anxiety, but I didn't care. I'm going. I'm going to give it to the cross.” During the event, Graham announced the creation of the Billy Graham Defense Fund for protecting religious freedom in the U.K. He said the fund is designed to “encourage Christians across the U.K. to keep living out and sharing their faith freely and boldly.” Biden and Trump ready to rumble on CNN ANNOUNCER: “Let's get ready to rumble. Are you all ready for this?” President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are set to debate tomorrow night in Atlanta on CNN. Ahead of the debate, both candidates released campaign updates. Trump's campaign and the Republican National Committee raised over $140 million in May. Meanwhile, Biden's campaign and the Democratic National Committee raised $85 million. Trump's support was boosted by small dollar donations during his trial and conviction in May on charges of falsifying business records. Oklahoma Supreme Court rules religious charter school unconstitutional Oklahoma's state supreme court ruled on Tuesday that a religious charter school is unconstitutional. St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School was set to open this year. It would have been the first publicly-funded religious charter school in the country. Alliance Defending Freedom is supporting the charter school. ADF Attorney Phil Sechler said, “The U.S. Constitution protects St. Isidore's freedom to operate according to its faith. … We are disappointed with the court's ruling that upholds discrimination against religion; we'll be considering all legal options, including appeal.” U.S. deficit $400 billion higher than predicted The U.S. Congressional Budget Office updated its federal budget deficit estimate on Tuesday. The agency projects the U.S. deficit will be $400 billion higher this year than the agency projected in February. This projection follows spending packages for Ukraine and Israel, costs for reducing student loan debt, and increased Medicaid spending. Take a look at the U.S. Debt Clock through a special link in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com. The agency also expects public debt will increase from 99% of the Gross Domestic Product this year to 122% by 2034. That would be the highest level on record. Anniversary of Roman Emperor Julian the Apostate's death Roman Emperor Julian the Apostate died on this day in history in AD 363. He suffered wounds during a conflict with Persian forces in what is modern-day Iraq. As his name suggests, Julian spent his life trying to bring back paganism to the Roman Empire. He took aim at many of the Christian reforms of Emperor Constantine. However, referencing Christ in his dying words, Julian said, “Thou hast won, O Galilean.” The pagan emperor's last words aptly sum up the previous centuries of Christ's victory over paganism through His church. Isaiah 9:7 says of Jesus, “Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end.” What prompted a 10-year-old boy to give $10 to The Worldview I picked up the phone recently and talked to two Worldview listeners, Kristina and her 10-year-old son Lukas in Olympia, Washington. Kristina, a homeschool mother of six children, explained how the family first became aware of The Worldview newscast. KRISTINA: “We started listening to it because we bought some Generations curriculum a few years ago, the history, and it was connected with that. I just love it! Because I want my children and myself to have a heart for what God's doing in the world. It helps our hearts to be bigger and focus on what God's focused on. I just appreciate the daily refocusing of our vision to be bigger. It gives us something to pray about.” She is especially grateful for the stories we share on the persecuted church. KRISTINA: “When we listen to the first story about Christians who are suffering for their faith, we just love the opportunity to uphold brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering for Christ and yet are remaining faithful. So, we uphold them in prayer and thank the Lord that we have these brothers and sisters and just pray that their ministry, whatever it is, and their influence would be expanded and the Gospel would go forth.” Lukas, her 10-year-old, echoed that sentiment. LUKAS: “It's just very informative about Christ moving in the world, stories of people following their faith, even if it gets them hospitalized.” McMANUS: “Have you and Daniel and your parents ever prayed for someone you heard about on the newscast?” LUKAS: “Every single time we listen to it.” McMANUS: “Oh, wow!” LUKAS: “When we hear about someone who's getting persecuted or has being threatened to get persecuted, we pray that God would save them in some way, or that they would not give up faith in God.” McMANUS: “What made you think about giving $10?” LUKAS: “It feels like God has really changed a lot in my life and felt like He was encouraging me to do that.” McMANUS: “Where did this money come from?” LUKAS: “Just money I accumulated from birthdays or other things.” McMANUS: “Is it just from gifts that you got the money from or did you work for any of the money?" LUKAS: “I guess I've helped my dad with some things to get some of it.” McMANUS: “What do you do for your dad?” LUKAS: “Usually just something useful to help him, like getting into places he can't reach when he's working.” McMANUS: (laughs) “That sounds like my kids. Oh, that's funny. Like cleaning the attic or the garage or a project like that where you're cleaning up something or what?" LUKAS: “Usually in the attic. I just have to pull some wires to where he can reach them.” McMANUS “What was your reaction when Lukas said he wanted to give $10 of his money to, to the newscast effort.” KRISTINA: “I was grateful that he listened to the nudge of the Holy Spirit. It was excited that his heart was turned toward that.” McMANUS: “Tell me about your decision to match it.” KRISTINA: “Well, I thought I would join him, that would honor his gift by doubling it. The Lord loves to multiply little things into much.” 8 Worldview listeners donated $3,050 And finally, toward our $84,000 final goal by 5:00pm central this Saturday, June 29th, 8 Worldview listeners stepped up to the plate to help fund our 6-member team for another fiscal year. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Muslims killed 80 Christians in Congo, Africa Muslim militants killed at least 80 Christians in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in a string of attacks earlier this month. The Islamic State took responsibility for the violence. Open Doors, a persecution watchdog group, noted that the attacks are becoming more aggressive in targeting Christians. The group said, “Christians are forced to flee, and some churches in the affected villages have closed as a result of the latest attacks.” The central African nation is ranked 41st on the Open Doors' World Watch List of nations where it is most dangerous to be a Christian. Franklin Graham defines Biblical marriage in Birmingham, England Evangelist Franklin Graham continued his God Loves You Tour in the U.K. Over 8,000 came to hear him preach in Birmingham last Saturday. It was his first time in the Midlands, although his father, Billy Graham, had preached in the area some 40 years earlier. Franklin Graham had planned on preaching in Birmingham and seven other U.K. cities in 2020. However, many venues canceled his events at the time for his support for Biblical marriage. The Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 4:3-5, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine … and they will turn their ears away from the truth. … But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” To his credit, Franklin did not shy away from calling sin sin. Listen. GRAHAM: “Let me say something about sex. God created sex. He wants us to enjoy sex, but sex is to be used in a marriage relationship between a man and a woman. (clapping) That's the way God designed it. “There may be people here tonight that are guilty of sexual sins. I'm here tonight to tell you God will forgive you. There may be people here tonight you've stolen, you've lied, you've cheated all your life. I'm here tonight to tell you God will forgive you tonight if you repent and turn from your sins. “How about murder? ‘Franklin, we lock up murderers around here. We don't just let murderers walk around.' Really? How about abortion? In God's eyes, it's murder. Now, you say, ‘But Franklin, it's legal.' Okay. But I'm here to tell you tonight that God views it as murder. You may be guilty of having an abortion. Okay. I get it. “But I'm here to tell you tonight: God loves you. And He'll forgive you tonight. But you've got to come to Him by faith in His Son Jesus Christ. Tonight, you can have that guilt, and that shame you have felt. He'll take that all away. He'll give you a new heart. He'll change your life. He'll cleanse you tonight.” NATO increases their military spending Countries in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) are upping their military spending. A record 23 out of 32 NATO member nations met the military spending goal of the alliance this year. That goal is two percent of a country's Gross Domestic Product. The number of members meeting the goal more than doubled compared to last year. Western countries have increased military spending especially since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022. House passes $900 billion defense bill which blocks tax-funded abortions In the U.S., the House of Representatives approved the annual National Defense Authorization Act. The nearly $900 billion spending bill passed 217-199. Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson said, “This year's [National Defense Authorization Act] will refocus our military on its core mission of defending America and its interests across the globe, fund the deployment of the National Guard to the southwest border … and strengthen our nuclear posture and missile defense programs.” The bill also blocks the Pentagon from using taxpayer dollars for abortions. However, the bill would also need to pass in the Democrat-controlled Senate. Biden's new path to citizenship for 500,000 illegals President Joe Biden announced a new path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. The program will be open to illegal immigrants who are married to U.S. citizens and have lived in the country for at least 10 years. This could affect 500,000 people. The program will also be open to about 50,000 children who have parents that are U.S. citizens. The announcement comes after the Biden administration restricted illegal immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, seeking asylum. Supreme Court overturns ban on bump stocks for guns Last Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a Trump-era ban on bump stocks. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives banned them in 2018. The ruling defined a bump stock as an accessory to a gun that allows shooters to fire semiautomatic firearms at rates approaching those of some machineguns. The court ruled that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms exceeded its authority by classifying semiautomatic rifles with bump stocks as machine guns. Americans becoming more liberal A new Gallup survey found that Americans are identifying with liberal social values more and more. Social issues included sexually perverted lifestyles and the murder of unborn babies. Thirty-three percent of Americans have liberal views on social issues now, up from 24% in 2000. Thirty-two percent of Americans say their views are conservative, down from 39% in 2000. Those with moderate views similarly dropped from 38% to 32%. The basketball team now holds the record for the most championships. Joseph Mazzulla coaches the Celtics. At 35, he's now the youngest coach to win a championship since 1970. His post-game interview T-shirt read, “BUT FIRST … LET ME THANK GOD.” Mazzulla told NBA TV, “We are exactly where we're supposed to be. And God always has us where we're at. And you've just got to be patient, take your time, and use all the pain and all the stuff that you've been through in life for the next opportunity.” 1 Corinthians 10:31 says, “Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” 11 Worldview listeners donated $3,380 Toward our $63,000 goal by this Saturday, June 22nd – the three-week mark, 11 Worldview listeners stepped up to the plate. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Dept. of Justice targets pro-life protestors Peaceful civil disobedience in the United States has long been tolerated by the media and government officials -- until now. Last week, two pro-life activists were sentenced to years in prison, for chaining themselves to furniture inside of the Washington D.C. Surgi-Clinic where abortions are performed. The protest occurred on October 22, 2020. As The Worldview reported on May 16th, 30-year-old Laruen Handy received a sentence of 4 years and 9 months. And 69-year-old John Hinshaw was sentenced to 1 year and 9 months. Steve Crampton, the Thomas More Society Senior Counsel who is representing the pro-lifers in this case, talked to Fox News Digital. He said, “This is not the America I know. …The contrast here with the Pro-Palestine folks shutting down the colleges and even preventing graduation ceremonies, and blocking entire highways and interstates, in addition to the ongoing attacks, yet there are virtually no ongoing investigations. I think there's kind of a palpable sense of selective prosecution elements that can't be ignored here.” The Thomas More Society is appealing the case. Amos 3:6 asks, “If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid? If there is calamity in a city, will not the Lord have done it?” Iranian president killed in helicopter crash Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi and his foreign minister, along with seven other officials, were killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday. The crash occurred in northwestern Iran near the border of Turkey. Raisi was elected as President in 2021. He represented the more hardline Islamic Clergy Association. During Raisi's administration, Iran continued to build its nuclear weapons capacity and support Hamas militants in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon. The devastated Iranian economy Iran's Gross Domestic Product per capita has suffered about the worst drop of any nation in the world — falling from $8,300 to $2,700 between 2012 and 2020. The country has only recovered slightly since then. Bidenomics is squeezing Americans The assessment is in. Since the 2020 elections, Americans have slipped in their economic position. The Wall Street Journal reports that household net worth in the U.S. has flatlined since Biden took office. That means no appreciable increase for the average household. That compares to a 16% rise in household net worth over the 4-year Trump administration, adjusted for inflation. U.S. household income dropped by 5% Also, the U.S. median household income continues to fall from $78,250 back in 2019 to $74,580 today. That's about a 5% cut in pay over five years. Argentinian president's great economic strides Forbes reports that Argentina's President Javier Milei is making giant strides with his economic policies in his first year in office. First quarter 2024 government finances revealed a budget surplus -- the first since 2008. Remarkably, Milei eliminated 70,000 government jobs in Argentina and suspended new public works contracts. Plus, the inflation rate is moving in a good direction — 8.8% last month, down from a whopping 25% in December. Where do most sexual perverts live? An international survey, published by Statistica, finds the highest percentage of people who associate with a sexually perverted lifestyle commonly referred to as LGBTQ are the United States, Israel, the Philippines, Thailand, Canada, Sweden, Brazil, and Australia. By contrast, South Korea and Romania claim the lowest percentage. Millennials vs. Baby Boomers on Electric Vehicles 22% of Millennials own an electric or hybrid car compared to only 4% of Baby Boomers, reports ZeroHedge.com. Electric Vehicle sales only make up a fraction of total car sales -- 1.4 million electric cars compared to roughly 14 million gas-powered light trucks and passenger cars. Pope Francis asserts that he doesn't allow blessings of homosexual unions The Roman Catholic Pope Francis was interviewed on CBS's 60 Minutes. He clarified that he would not allow a blessing of “homosexual unions” because “the Lord made [the sacrament] that way.” He said that blessing homosexual unions goes against the law of the church. However, Francis does advocate the blessing of the individual persons. Listen to the set up question by CBS' Norah O'Donnell as well as the Pope's response. O'DONNELL: “Last year, you decided to allow Catholic priests to bless same-sex couples. That's a big change. Why?” POPE FRANCIS: “No, what I allowed was not to bless the union. That cannot be done because that is not the sacrament. I cannot. The Lord made it that way. But to bless each person? Yes. The blessing is for everyone.” Recently, the Pope criticized national governments that criminalize homosexuality, stating that the behavior is not a crime while still it is a sin. Let us remember Proverbs 3:33. “The curse of the LORD is on the house of the wicked, but He blesses the home of the just.” Supreme Court vs. parental rights on kids' gender transitions And finally, the U.S. Supreme Court has taken a position against parental rights in schools that advocate gender transitions for children. Yesterday, the justices declined a Maryland school district case in which the school allowed for hiding information from parents about their own children's gender identity, especially from the parents deemed “unsupportive.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Tuesday, May 21st in the year of our Lord 2024. In this month's episode, co-host Jessica Levy and guest Cheryl Narumi Naruse examine popular narratives surrounding Singapore's "miraculous" journey from Third to First world nation, currently ranked third in the world in terms of Gross Domestic Product per capita. The episode takes a particular look at the period leading up to and following the 1997 Asian financial crisis, during which this tiny island city-state underwent a massive rebranding campaign to transform its reputation from a culturally sterile and punitive nation to an alluring location for economic flourishing. Topics discussed include Singapore's relationship with a core constituency of Global Asia, namely Overseas Singaporeans, genres of postcolonial capitalism, and much, much more.
America is a parody of itself, focused on the least important issues at the expense of the most important, chasing nickels and dimes while spending trillions each year without a care in the world. The United States of America has become a deeply unserious nation, and everyone can see it. The good news is that the problems are fixable, but the frustration comes because the causes of the problems are entirely preventable and yet seem to be happening by design. Expecting the government to solve the very problems that they created seems like a losing strategy. Maybe the point is to not fix the problems.
