When comedy writer Tamara Yajia talks about her childhood, she's sometimes unsure what tone to strike. Her new memoir Cry for Me Argentina: My Life as a Failed Child Star depicts a very fun nuclear family with parents and grandparents who are loud, crass, and sex-positive. There are hilarious moments and situations that seem wildly inappropriate. In this week's episode, Tamara tells Anna about the ups and downs of her childhood, which was spent in both Argentina and the U.S., and what she wishes her parents had done differently.   This episode was produced by Cameron Drews. In this episode, we sit down with filmmaker Drew Stone and photographer Gregory Rudolph Smith, aka Rudy, to uncover the story behind London 77: The Lost Archive. Rudy shares how he unintentionally became a documentarian of London's emerging punk scene in 1977 while trying to get his life back on track. Armed with a camera and an outsider's perspective, he captured powerful images of icons like Adam and the Ants, Generation X, and Crass, then put the negatives in a storage locker where they sat for decades. We discuss the cultural impact of the era, the process of rediscovery, and the thrill of preserving a moment in music history.https://generationrecords.bigcartel.com/product/london-77-the-lost-archive-the-photography-of-gregory-rudolph-smithhttps://coretexrecords.com/London-77-The-Lost-Archive-The-Photography-of-Gregory-Rudolph-Smith_1******************************************Hungry for more?Check us out at https://isbreakfast.com******************************************

In early 1979, Tony D(rayton) ceased publication of his trailblazing punk fanzine Ripped & Torn, having experienced a seismic shift in his values by the emergence of anarcho-punks Crass on the scene. After nine months traversing Europe and rethinking his “decadence,” he came back to London and started a new fanzine, Kill Your Pet Puppy. Like its predecessor, KYPP proved highly influential, and at times equally controversial, gradually moving away from music coverage over the course of its six issues to become something more…In this, his second appearance on The Fanzine Podcast (check Episode 13 for the Ripped & Torn story), Tony D. talks about his conversion to the Crass way of living, his sojourns in Europe, falling out with Adam Ant, falling in with a new squat scene, why Kill Your Pet Puppy initially had a far more shocking title, gaining the printing patronage of Joly MacFie at Better Badges, testing the boundaries of what a punk zine could achieve and represent, the attraction of the new ‘Positive Punk' groups like Alien Sex Fiend, Southern Death Cult and Sex Gang Children, why he launched KYPP with an attack on host Tony Fletcher's Jamming! fanzine, and why he eventuallyran off to join the circus. Hey Rebel.  In this powerful and uplifting episode, I'm joined by comedian Lauren Hope Crass, who uses humor to challenge anti-fat bias, diet culture, and the unrealistic expectations placed on all of us—especially women in bigger bodies. Lauren shares her journey from self-deprecating humor to empowering comedy, how she found her voice (and her people), and the impact of resilience and body acceptance in a world that constantly tries to shrink us. In this episode, we discuss: How Lauren uses comedy to challenge fatphobia and diet culture The realities of anti-fat bias—including career discrimination The shift from self-depricating humor to self-empowerment Why finding your people matters more than changing for others & Behind-the-scenes stories from her standup career If you've ever felt judged for simply existing or struggled to fully accept yourself, this conversation will remind you that you don't have to change to be worthy—and that laughter can be one of the most powerful forms of resistance. https://www.laurenhopekrass.com/ ----- Ready to Heal Your Relationship with Food?
