The DA presented five weeks of evidence in People v. Letecia Stauch in Colorado Springs. And while prosecutors secured a conviction in 2023, this case may have been compromised long before opening statements ever began. In April 2026, the Colorado Court of Appeals granted Letecia Stauch a new trial, pointing to a critical issue of juror bias. At the center of it all? A juror who was the father-in-law of a local prosecutor working within the same district attorney's office that tried the case. Under Colorado law, that kind of relationship raises serious concerns about impartiality, and it's exactly the type of issue that can unravel an entire verdict. So how did this happen? And why wasn't it caught before the trial ever started? Join Margot as she breaks down what the appellate court actually decided, why juror bias is such a big deal legally, and what prosecutors are likely to do next… ⸻
CRIME TALK SHOP Crime Talk Store: https://scottreisch.com/crime-talk-store The Colorado Court of Appeals has overturned Letecia Stauch's murder conviction in the killing of 11-year-old Gannon Stauch and ordered a new trial. The ruling does not declare her innocent, but it does say the original trial was legally flawed because a juror who should have been automatically disqualified was allowed to take part in deliberations. In this video, we break down exactly what the appeals court said, why the judge's decision became a structural error, how the prosecution responded, and what happens next if the case moves forward again. We also look at the emotional reaction from Gannon's father and why this ruling could force everyone to relive one of Colorado's most disturbing child murder cases. Do you think the outcome of a new trial will be any different, or will the final result be the same? #LeteciaStauch #GannonStauch #TrueCrime #CrimeNews #CourtOfAppeals

On this episode of They Walk Among America… After all of the evidence in Gannon Stauch's disappearance pointed towards the person entrusted to look after him, the endangered child case quickly became a homicide investigation. Letecia Stauch was arrested in March 2020, and just over two weeks later, Gannon's remains were found in a suitcase beneath a bridge in Florida, over 1,300 miles from his home in Colorado Springs. It was evident that 11-year-old Gannon had suffered horrific violence before his death, but his stepmother continued to try and avoid responsibility throughout the investigation and even after her arrest. After waiting three long years for justice, Gannon's family were forced to sit through 20 days of grueling testimony and blatant lies about his final moments… (Part 2 of 2)*** LISTENER DISCRETION IS ADVISED *** ‘They Walk Among America' is a Law & Crime podcast network production. This episode was hosted by Nina Innsted.Researched and written by Eileen Macfarlane.Editing and scoring by Kory Hilpmann. A true-crime YouTuber has come under fire for selling gruesome autopsy photos of Gannon Stauch on her Patreon account. The photos reportedly show the 11-year-old boy's decomposed body that was found stuffed in a suitcase. His stepmother, Letecia Stauch, was convicted of beating, stabbing, and shooting him before locking Gannon in the luggage and driving from Colorado to dump his body under a bridge in Florida. *TRIGGER WARNING - Death of a Child*On January 27, 2020, in the Colorado Springs area, Letecia Stauch reported her 11-year-old stepson, Gannon Stauch, missing when he did not return home by his 6 pm curfew. Gannon was initially thought to be a runaway, but clues soon pushed investigators in a different direction. Two months later, in March 2020, Gannon's remains were found in a discarded suitcase in the Florida panhandle. Letecia was charged with Gannon's murder and in May 2023 she was found guilty of stabbing Gannon 18 times before hitting him in the head and then shooting him once – all because she wanted to hurt his father (her husband) Al Stauch, whom she planned to leave and who was away on a NationalGuard deployment at the time. Listen to hear about how Letecia claimed one of her other personalities, “Maria”, was to blame for Gannon's murder and why the judge said "The facts, in this case, are the most horrific I have ever seen. Your conduct, in this case, deserves the maximum sentence that I can impose according to Colorado law." #JusticeForGannonAre you ready to feel more energized, focused, and supported? Letecia Stauch, a stepmother from Colorado, was found guilty on May 8th, 2023, of murdering her 11-year-old stepson, Gannon Stauch, in January 2020. She was convicted of first-degree murder, murder of a child under 12, tampering with a deceased human body, and tampering with physical evidence. Prosecutors alleged that Stauch killed Gannon because she was resentful about being used as a babysitter, as evidenced by her search history. She stabbed Gannon 18 times, beat him across the head four times, and shot him in the jaw, according to prosecutors, before dumping his body under a bridge in Florida. Stauch, who worked as a special needs elementary school teacher, had claimed that her behavior was the result of mental illness or childhood sexual abuse. Prosecutors argued that she acted with intent and was mentally competent when she killed Gannon. The jury agreed with the prosecutors and found Stauch guilty on all charges. In an emotional sentencing statement, Judge Gregory Werner sentenced her to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of Gannon Stauch. Prayers to the Stauch family as they deal with the aftermath of this terrible tragedy. ➡️ Wanna say thanks for a great episode? https://www.buymeacoffee.com/collierlandry ➡️ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/collierlandry ➡️ Check out my Merch Store: https://www.collierlandry.com/store ➡️ Amazon Affiliate Link: https://www.collierlandry.com/amazon ➡️ YouTube- https://www.youtube.com/collierlandry Collier's Live Schedule, updated on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook: Instagram: Tuesday 2 pm ET / 11 am PT YouTube: Wednesdays 7pm ET / 4pm PT ▶ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/collierlandry/ ▶ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@collierlandry ▶ Twitter: https://twitter.com/collierlandry ▶ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/collierlandry ▶ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/collierlandry/ Learn more about your ad choices. The murder of Gannon Stauch was a case that bought the True Crime Society community together. We know many of you found us through this case originally. The trial in this case has just started and we wanted to run through Gannon's story again, while we wait for justice. Gannon was 11 in January 2020 when he went missing from Colorado Springs, Colorado. His step-mother Letecia Stauch originally said that Gannon had gone to a friend's home. But she couldn't name the friend, or in fact, any of Gannon's friends. What actually happened to Gannon is horrendous. We know now that Letecia likely shot Gannon while he was in his bed. She wrapped his body in his bed sheets and stuffed his small body in a suitcase. She lied to everyone – her husband, friends, police and the media – before fleeing Colorado with her daughter Harley. It is believed she threw Gannon's remains from a bridge in Florida and his body was found in March 2020. Letecia has been in prison since 2020 and her trial is finally underway. In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we tell Gannon's story and run through Letecia's antics leading up to the trial. The payment was for $2,385. Debbie was never seen alive again. Shortly after the payment was made, Debbie was found naked and burned in a wooded area, around 60 miles away from her home. She was found clutching a small tree. Her cause of death has not been made public, but police have said there is no evidence of either suicide or kidnapping. Debbie's case is one of the strangest we have ever encountered. She was caught on CCTV, alone at a dollar store, around the time that the Venmo payment was made. Debbie purchased items that were found at her death scene. There have been rumors about Debbie's daughter being involved in the death. Or was this a mental break that ended in death? There are NO answers in Debbie's case to date, even with the FBI joining the investigation. WHAT IS GOING ON?
