I'm Collier Landry, subject of the Investigation Discovery documentary 'A Murder in Mansfield'. On New Year's Eve 1989, I awoke in the middle of the night to the sound of 2 loud thuds. The next morning my mother was missing and I knew she was no longer alive. No one believed me except one detective; 25 days later, police found my mother's body buried beneath the basement floor of my father's new home he purchased for his mistress. I had witnessed a murder, and at the age of 12, I testified against my father at his month-long murder trial. He is still incarcerated to this day. In this podcast, we will cover the unanswered questions behind murder, its motives, and moving on. I will take you on an inside journey into the mind of a sociopath, where I will read my father’s never-before-seen letters, from prison for the first time. We will examine how sometimes we don't always get the answers we seek, but we end up getting the answers we need, as we explore... Moving Past Murder.
The Moving Past Murder podcast is an incredibly captivating and emotionally charged series that keeps listeners hooked from start to finish. Collier, the host and storyteller, has an incredible ability to draw in his audience with his storytelling skills, making each episode a truly fascinating experience. This podcast has quickly become one of the few that I eagerly anticipate each week.
One of the best aspects of The Moving Past Murder podcast is the way Collier weaves together his personal experiences with the events surrounding the case he discusses. His authenticity and vulnerability shine through as he recounts his own pain and grief, allowing listeners to connect deeply with his story. It is truly remarkable to hear how these events have shaped him into the person he is today. Additionally, Collier's voice and charm add another layer of immersion to the podcast, making you feel like you're right there in the room with him.
Another positive aspect of this podcast is its ability to engage even those who may already be familiar with the case at hand. Despite knowing some details about it myself, I found The Moving Past Murder podcast engrossing and gripping throughout. Collier's natural storytelling abilities make every episode compelling, leaving you eager for more.
While it's difficult to find any major flaws in this podcast, one possible downside could be that it may not appeal to those who prefer lighter or more lighthearted content. The subject matter can be heavy and emotional at times, requiring listeners to be prepared for the intense emotions that may arise while listening. However, for those who appreciate deep dives into true crime stories and are open to exploring difficult themes, this should not deter them from giving The Moving Past Murder a chance.
In conclusion, The Moving Past Murder podcast is a must-listen for true crime enthusiasts and anyone who enjoys powerful storytelling. Collier's ability to connect with his audience and share his personal experiences adds an extra layer of depth and authenticity to the series. With each episode, I found myself more invested in the story, eagerly awaiting the next installment. This podcast is a true gem and leaves a lasting impact on its listeners.

In this profoundly moving and unflinching interview, Zett Espinoza opens up about the profound trauma of growing up under the control of her father, the leader of a criminal organization built around the distribution of illegal pornography, brothels, exploitation and sex toys. As a child, Zett and her brothers were kidnapped by their father, forced to change their identities, and hidden from the world to shield him from law enforcement. Within this shadowy existence, they were subjected to relentless manipulation, psychological torture, and physical abuse. Her father used fear and coercion to control their lives and even pressured them into aiding his illegal enterprises, robbing them of their innocence and freedom. Zett speaks candidly about the emotional and psychological toll this harrowing experience took on her—revealing how the trauma of being raised in such a dark and exploitative environment impacted her sense of self and her ability to trust. Despite this, her story is one of resilience and hope as she recounts her journey to reclaim her identity, heal from the scars of the past, and rebuild her life on her terms. #luigimangione #insurance #unitedhealthcare #lafires #truecrime Luigi Mangione Resurfaces As Symbol of Anger Against California Insurers. In this episode of The Collier Landry Show, I sit down with Dr. Angel Iscovich, a renowned expert in human behavior and decision-making, to unpack a timely and controversial topic: the growing public anger toward insurance companies in the wake of disasters and corporate decisions that leave countless Americans vulnerable. We delve into the online discussions surrounding Luigi Mangione. This name has surfaced in the context of the recent fires devastating Southern California and the startling murder of UnitedHealthcare's CEO, Brian Thompson, on December 4. Dr. Iscovich helps us explore why these events have sparked such a visceral reaction, with many viewing Mangione as a symbolic avenger against a system they perceive as broken. Together, we examine the broader societal implications of these narratives, the psychology of public outrage, and what these events reveal about the state of trust (or lack thereof) in corporations. How does this collective anger reflect our values as a society? And what can we learn from it as we look to move forward? Justice for Abby and Libby – Richard Allen Sentenced to 130 Years In this episode of The Collier Landry Show, we cover the sentencing of Richard Allen, convicted of the 2017 Delphi Murders of Abigail “Abby” Williams (13) and Liberty “Libby” German (14). An Indiana judge handed Allen a 130-year sentence—65 years for each murder, served consecutively. While this verdict brings a sense of closure, Allen maintains his innocence, and his attorneys plan to appeal. Healing as a Survivor of Violent Crime As a survivor of violent crime, I reflect on the healing process after such tragedies. #conspiracies #truecrime #crimestory The Ramblings (You Won't Believe the Lies!) from a Convicted Murderer Psychopathic Father. Back in the 1990s, after Collier's father was in prison for murdering his mother, he was interviewed live on a radio program called What's Right What's Left with Pastor Ernie Sanders. Speaking from prison, Collier's father professed his innocence while discussing the conspiracies and crooked law enforcement he claims were out to frame him. For the very first time, Collier listens to his dad's interview as he records this episode. Hear his responses and outrage to the lies his father peddles as he tries to clear his name by smearing Collier's dead mother. * Hear what Collier's father has to say about Collier just a few years after he took to the witness stand to help convict his father in his mother's murder. * Smuggling gold and dr*gs on the black market? * The wild explanations Collier's father gave for his wife's disappearance and death. In the wake of the P. Diddy scandal, more and more attention has been drawn to the malignant epidemic of sex trafficking in America. Today, investigative journalist and author Brian Joseph joins the program. It's been more than six years since investigative reporter Brian Joseph began researching the underbelly of sex trafficking, starting at the Las Vegas Review-Journal. His investigation extracted a harsh reality here in the United States: Law enforcement agencies trip up, and their investigations into sex trafficking become compromised, and self-interest corrupts news organizations and the corridors of power that might otherwise have been able to help bring sex trafficking in America to an end. #truecrime #matthewperry #podcast Link to this episode on YouTube: https://youtube.com/live/q6NjziFFjqY Today, we discuss Matthew Perry's death and the Doctors who illegally obtained ketamine, which caused his death. We will explore the parallels of Michael Jackson's death at the hands of Dr. Conrad Murray and the opioid documentaries "Crime of the Century" and "American Pain", both available on the MAX streaming platform. I also dive into my thoughts regarding addiction and the chorus of sycophants that often surround high-profile people experiencing substance use disorders. Rest easy, Matthew Perry. You were loved by millions. Background on the case: Dr. Mark Chavez has pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to distribute ketamine in connection with the death of actor Matthew Perry. Chavez, a San Diego-based physician, was one of five individuals charged in the case. He admitted to illegally obtaining ketamine and transferring it to another doctor, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who then sold it to Perry's assistant. Perry died from the "acute effects of ketamine" in October 2023. Chavez now faces up to 10 years in prison. Other defendants in the case include Plasencia, who has pleaded not guilty, and Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry's assistant, who has also pleaded guilty. The case has raised significant attention due to the involvement of multiple medical professionals and Perry's tragic death. Published in the June 2023 issue of the journal JCI Insight, the study adds to growing preclinical evidence that the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) system plays a role in alcohol and other substance use disorders and that GLP-1 receptor agonists show potential for treating people with alcohol use disorder (AUD). GLP-1 is a gut hormone that stimulates insulin secretion after eating. This promotes a feeling of fullness, helps regulate blood sugar, and reduces hunger cravings. Semaglutide and other GLP-1 agonists—medications that bind to GLP-1 receptors and mimic their effects—are currently used as treatments for diabetes and obesity. “Parts of the brain that drive eating behaviors overlap extensively with the drive to use alcohol or other substances,” explained Lorenzo Leggio, M.D., Ph.D., and Leandro Vendruscolo, Pharm.D., Ph.D., two of the study's senior authors. They added that there is also an overlap between the brain mechanisms that regulate overeating and those that contribute to the development and maintenance of substance use disorders, including AUD. Rancho Palos Verdes is a coastal city in south Los Angeles County, California. It sits atop the bluffs of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, neighboring three other cities in the Palos Verdes Hills: Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills, and Rolling Hills Estates. Rancho Palos Verdes is known for its extensive nature preserves, hiking trails, school district, and high property values. • Sources used in this video may include public news sites, interviews, court documents, dedicated Facebook groups, and news channel segments. #karenread #ellengreenberg #truecrime Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, who was one of the leading contenders to become the Democratic vice presidential candidate, has seen his record come under scrutiny, with some of his actions while in office receiving renewed attention. Questions over Shapiro's handling of 2011 death of Ellen Greenberg In 2011, Ellen Greenberg, a 27-year-old Philadelphia teacher, was found dead in her apartment by her fiance. She had 20 stab wounds to her body, including in the back of her neck. The medical examiner's office initially ruled the death a homicide, but police publicly objected to the ruling because her apartment door was locked from the inside and her fiancé, who said he broke down the door to get to her, had no defensive wounds. The medical examiner's office then revised the findings, saying the cause of death was suicide. Greenberg's parents had been fighting since her death to have the case reexamined, and when one of their lawyers became Philadelphia's district attorney in 2018, the family appealed to him to reopen the case. Citing a conflict of interest, however, he recused himself and sent the case to state Attorney General Josh Shapiro's office. In February 2022, the attorney general's office announced it had reviewed the case and ruled once again the cause of death was suicide. However, in July 2022, Shapiro's office referred the case back to the Philadelphia district attorney's office, after critics cited unverified claims that Shapiro had connections to Greenberg's fiancé's family. The attorney general's office said, "While the Office of Attorney General does not have an actual conflict in this matter, circumstances beyond our control have created the appearance of a conflict." Shapiro's team previously told The Philadelphia Inquirer it had never addressed or clarified the allegations because it was "not acknowledging unfounded accusations." In July, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court agreed to hear Greenberg's parents' case. Their attorney, Joe Podraza, told CBS affiliate WHP-TV they are seeking a decision on "whether coroners and medical examiners have absolute power, or can they be challenged when the evidence shows they are not only mistaken, but grossly mistaken." Originally from Toronto, he earned a J.D. from Harvard University in 2001. After working as a law clerk for a federal judge and as an associate at a law firm, he joined the faculty of Florida State University in 2005. Markel was killed in Tallahassee, Florida, in 2014, in a murder-for-hire motivated by child custody issues following Markel's divorce from Wendi Adelson, a clinical law professor and child advocate also employed at Florida State University at the time. Wendi Adelson has not been charged, but she has been named, together with her brother Charlie and mother Donna, as "conspirators" in the killing. Four individuals have been convicted in the case. Luis Rivera pled guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 19 years in prison. Sigfredo Garcia was found guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder and sentenced to life in prison. After a mistrial was declared in her original trial, Katherine Magbanua was found guilty of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and solicitation of murder in her retrial; she was sentenced to life in prison plus two consecutive 30-year sentences. Charlie Adelson, Wendi Adelson's brother, was convicted of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and solicitation of murder. On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, Charlie Adelson was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder plus an additional 30 years each for conspiracy and solicitation convictions. Donna Adelson, Markel's former mother-in-law, was arrested at the Miami International Airport on a warrant from Leon County, apparently trying to flee to Vietnam, a country with no extradition treaty with the U.S. She is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and solicitation of murder. Her trial is set for September 17, 2024. • Disclaimer: All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. #trump #truecrime #secretservice On July 13, 2024, former President Donald J. Trump survived an assassination attempt. President Biden ordered a full review of security for former President Trump's Pennsylvania rally and to assess the security in place for the Republican National Convention this week in Milwaukee. On Sunday afternoon, Trump said he would head to Wisconsin for the RNC as planned. He'd thanked the nation on Sunday morning for its concern in the wake of an attempt on his life the evening before. Throughout the morning, Republicans and Democrats alike called for lowering the temperature of political rhetoric. Amid those calls, there were questions about how this happened and descriptions of the rally as a “security failure.” One person at the rally was also killed, and two others were critically injured, officials said. Overnight, the FBI named the suspect in the shooting at a rally in Butler, Pa., but offered no other details. Authorities said Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pa., was involved. Today, I am joined by James E. Craig, the 42nd Chief of Police for the City of Detroit. About my guest: James E. Craig has dedicated his life to service, spending more than four decades in law enforcement, leaving the cities he served safer than he found them. In 2013, Craig was asked by Governor Rick Snyder to serve as the 42nd Chief of Police for the City of Detroit, his hometown. Over the next eight years, Craig led a department of 2800 sworn and civilian personnel and achieved great success, propelling the DPD into the 21st century. Accomplishments as the Chief of Police in Detroit include a significant reduction in violent crime rates through the utilization of data and analysis to support proactive policing, quicker response times for priority 911 calls, and the institution of programs to cut gang membership in at-risk communities. Craig received widespread acclaim for his leadership during the unrest in the summer of 2020. While other cities were marred by looting, riots, and destruction, Detroit stood firm, a model for other cities to strive for. #micamiller #truecrime #mentalhealth Victim Rights Attorney Sarah A. Ford joins the program to discuss the Mica Miller case. MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- There is an unexpected twist in the death of a South Carolina pastor's wife after the sheriff announced the FBI and U.S. attorney are helping in the Mica Miller investigation. The 30-year-old woman was found dead in April. However, investigators say she called 911 moments before she was found dead at a state park in North Carolina, which was about an hour north of where she lived in Myrtle Beach. Mica's death came just days after she told a police officer "she was scared for her life" after finding a GPS tracker on her car and a razor blade in her tire. She and her husband, John Paul Miller, were also in the process of separating. He was a pastor at a local church but has since been released from his duties. About my guest: Sarah A. Is intergenerational trauma just an excuse for bad behavior used by narcissists to get away with their wanton behavior? Collier Landry and guest Dr. Roger Rhoades discuss the epidemic rise of the intergenerational trauma excuse being used to mask criminal narcissism. Sighting the recent case of Senator Robert Menendez, a New Jersey Democrat charged with accepting bribes, including cash, gold bars, and a Mercedes-Benz, in exchange for political favors to foreign governments. Collier makes some revelations in his own life dealing with narcissism in his romantic life. About my guest: Dr. Roger Rhoades has been a professional counselor since 1987.
