Lured Up Podcast 324 Record Date - 10/16/24 Publish Date - 10/18/24   Niantic is making it harder and harder to talk about topics other than the news! October has been a non-stop barrage of events, updates, and content from Niantic, with Trainers barely having a moment to catch their breath. We run through our gameplay from the last week including GIovanni, Mega Mawile, and the current Magnetic Study. It has been a busy week to say the least. Yamask Research Day is this weekend and only adds to the back to back nature of events this month. It makes for the perfect primer for Part 1 of the Halloween Event which lands next week. Morepeko is absolutely making things interesting as is the event and its multiple ways to engage with it. Those chasing Morpeko will need to grind some GBL while those not looking to dig in too deep will stick to the Timed Research. We also can't forget about Spiritomb, who will be in Field Research making for a fun grind.   The big news of the week was the announcement of Gigantamax, and the upcoming events to support it. It looks like we will be seeing the Kanto Starters Gigantamax Forms in November, with a very interesting new way to lobby up. With up to 40 Trainers taking on a Gigantamax Pokémon at the same time, it will be interesting to see how many Communities can fill a lobby and get through the coordination needed to plan a large scale Gigantamax Battle. Let's also not forget that we are still seeing plenty of Power Spots at home based businesses, which makes you wonder if Gigantamax locations will be curated or random.   An unexpected update hit the news feed of Trainers in the Seattle and Bellevue Washington area, notifying them that the Pokémon Playgrounds AR Experience was available to them at select Gyms and Stops. We look back to 2017 when Niantic first mentioned Playground, which makes it running live in 2024 even more awesome. Resembling Krabby in many ways, Kingler is most well known for the gorgeous crown on its head and its giant pincers. These claws have 10,000 horsepower, which is more than enough to break open an apricorn... in case you were wondering. Its claws are so large that Kingler has a hard time just lifting them. So just know that if you see a Kingler waving at you, it's exerting a lot of energy on your behalf. That means you're special. Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob's fifty-second lesson on Pokémon biology. For the class today, we will be discussing Meowth: the Scratch Cat Pokémon. This little devil is a feline Pokémon with an affinity to round and shiny objects. In fact, Meowth loves round, shiny things so much that it even has a gold coin on its forehead! Now don't be silly, that gold coin was clearly placed there by the Meowth itself... right? They're not born with gold coins attached to their heads, right!? Why can't I have money sprouting from my body!? UGH! Also, Prof. Jacob has a ton of entries to read today, seeing as there's currently four registered Meowth variants in the National Pokédex: Kantonian, Alolan, Galarian, and Gigantamax! Two leakers have been told to pay The Pokemon Company a sizable $150,000 each in damages along with attorneys' fees after taking and uploading photographs of an unreleased Pokemon Sword and Shield strategy guide to the internet back in 2019. As reported by Polygon, The Pokemon Company initially filed the lawsuit because the leaks revealed some unannounced features and information including the Gigantamax forms of certain Pokemon. The company was unsure who was responsible for the leaks when it filed the suit, but after an investigation has named the culprits as Bryan Garcia Cruz and David Andino Maisonave, the latter of whom worked at the company hired to print copies of the strategy guide, LSC Communications. "Defendant (David Andino Maisonave) took pictures of The Pokemon Company's unreleased strategy guide on or about November 1, 2019. Defendant shared the illicit pictures of the strategy guide with a friend who also knew defendant Bryan Garcia Cruz," reads a court filing. "Defendant's friend shared the pictures of the Strategy Guide in a group chat that included Mr. Cruz. Mr. Cruz then posted the pictures taken by Defendant on the Internet."
