Lured Up Podcast 404: The Plan All Along Live Streamed on - 8/13/2026 Publish Date - 8/14/2026 What a week, am I right? Seriously though, this week has been a wild ride as Scopely Explore dropped multiple massive news bombs this week. While we start things off recapping the Summer Marathon, it isn't long before we spill into the larger news stories. The first being the details of the Mega Finale, which have come to little to no fanfare. Trainers are not too happy with the Raid lineup of the event, as we won't be able to grind the Kalos Mega Starters and we will once again have Mewtwo in the mix. That is of course, after everyone in the game just got a free Hundo Mewtwo with a background. Trainers were shocked to learn about a free Timed Research that rewarded a Hundo Mewtwo, and of course the internet was ablaze with reactions. From Trainers thinking it is the best thing since sliced bread, to some that somehow found a way to still be upset about things. At the end of the day, this was an unprecedented move that opened up a lot of questions. Was this a reaction to the online community's complaints or was this the plan all along? While we will likely never know, there is plenty of speculation flying around. The final big news drop was that the Explorer Gadget has now rolled out globally to Trainers level 20 and above. While not a direct replacement for the GO Plus+, the tool is a bit clunky and cumbersome to figure out, with limited explanation of how it truly works for it to be effective. We are sure that Trainers that do not have autocatcher hardware will love it, for those of us that have a GO Plus+, it just doesn't stack up and isn't the tool we hoped it will be. Adam feels like it will evolve over time, so we will have to see! Our Professor's Principle this week is about Expectation vs. Reality. With so many Trainers online being upset about the Mega Finale, it really comes down to them being upset about something they never even had. It opens a discussion about how to balance standards against expectations to find a place in the middle where you leave room to be flexible. The journey is part of the process and when you allow some uncertainty to the outcome, it allows you to adapt to manage emotions and ultimately disappointment. Let us know what you think! Lured Up Podcast 395: Forward Progress Live Streamed on - 5/27/2026 Publish Date - 5/28/2026 We are less than 2 weeks away from GO Fest Chicago! This window of time is the funky period where some are getting ready to travel to GO Fest, while the majority of others are still ready to play and grind at home! We break down some of the details of the Chicago event as well as the Team Leader Summer Quests that we will have globally over the next few weeks. Being a live service game, Pokémon GO definitely doesn't have time to rest on its laurels, as Season 23 of the game has been unveiled. Forever Forward will be our next season, and by the look of the promotional video, Niantic is doubling down on their core value of exploration. From Trainers walking an adventuring, to images of remote Pokéstops, the game has positioned itself as a key motivator in keeping Trainers moving forward. We unpack what we know so far, and how GO Fest season will drive the first few weeks of the season, leading right into Global in mid-July. We also have our June Content Update, bringing back some Raid favorites like Necrozma and some Ultra Beasts. Frigibax has been announced as the June Community Day Pokémon, and we have a few events called out for the month. If IRL GO Fests are not in your future, there is still plenty to do in game and from home, which can be considered a long, winding road to GO Fest Global. We cover some random notes like the Pokémon Fossil Museum in Chicago and the release of Excavator Pikachu. This will likely be on all Chicago Trainer's bingo cards for the weekend. Pokémon GO has once again partnered with 100 Thieves to release some killer Mewtwo merch. We are hoping to get our hands on it, and ultimately give it away to the community.  We also run through our announced Chicago plans so far, including our Podcast Community Mixer with the GO Cast Podcast and our Pokémon Pop Punk night. A Note from Jacob: Welcome to the 425th episode of Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast! When I started this platform back in November 2019, I did not know that this journey would take me to interview authors, Emmy-winning actors and journalists, Grammy-winning producers, independent recording artists, my fellow podcasters, Reality TV legends, and social media influencers. I appreciate your continuing support!  I am thrilled to welcome back my friend, author, and content creator Marcus J. Anthony, to Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar!  The Dublin native is an upcoming author who previously published Love of Sacrifice, then rebooted it as The World of Antheric. Some who have known Marcus from school found the news of his book a surprise, as Marcus struggled through school dealing with dyslexia and social anxiety. Marcus lacked focus in his studies and would spend most of his time daydreaming about flying on dragons or waving a wand to cast a spell. Fantasy fueled Marcus's mind. However, it caused him to fall behind in school. He would be exempt from Irish language studies, which was disheartening for him, as he could not translate his country's original language. When Marcus was ten, he suffered from sleep anxiety. So, he decided to use his strong imagination to create ‘movies' in his head that would help him sleep. That was when some of the characters in this novel were created. In the years that followed, the movies in his head developed into a magical world that Marcus could not resist writing about. Creative writing became his passion, and Marcus would not allow his dyslexia to stop him from achieving. He spent most of his teenage years (staying home on weekends) writing and learning until he found his writing style.   Marcus has a great love for animals and supports charities. He is vocal about awareness of animal abuse, which is expressed in the story through Jenin's past experiences. Marcus has four cats: Summer, Junior, Littler, and Leia. In 2017, Marcus fell into a dark spell of generalized anxiety and depression, which delayed the release of his book. The Black Grawth came from his experience with anxiety and panic attacks. And Gaul – the Dark Lord- represented the darkness of depression. With the help of treatment, family, and meditation, Marcus found strength and happiness again and continues to write, drawing inspiration from the world around him.  Since 2024, Marcus J. Anthony has established EliteMJ TV, which started with the original fan fiction series, Pokémon Next Generation. Set 10 years after Ash Ketchum won the Pokémon World Championship, the series follows Johto native Marc Masters, who hero-worships Ash, and travels across Kanto with his friends, Rachel Oak-Stone and Anthony Green.  So far, Marc has earned five gym badges from Forrest (Brock's youngest brother), Rain (Misty's cousin), Sgt. Sara (Lt. Surge's daughter), Skorcha (Blaine's granddaughter), and Erika.  The trio also battled foes in the form of Nastina, Earl, and Blurt, and Team Justice.  In addition to earning gym badges, Marc uncovered a threat that could destroy the Pokémon world: this threat's name is Mew-Z.  This Pokémon is unlike any creature that inhabits this world; it is pure evil. This monstrosity was the brainchild of Team Rocket leader Giovanni and brought to life by the sinister Dr. Yung and Evice, using genes from Mew, Mewtwo, Zygarde, and unknown factors.  While it is powerful, Mew-Z has not reached its final form.   According to Looker, for Mew-Z to reach its full potential, it must absorb both Mew and Mewtwo in one hour. The creature has begun hunting down mythical and legendary Pokémon, as well as Zygarde cells, to boost its power. Both Jirachi and Tapu Koko have fallen victim to this monstrosity.  He is also growing a following and assisting him with his misdeeds are Evice and a mysterious, red-haired woman named Commander, who kidnapped both Ash Ketchum and Pikachu at the series' beginning.  On the 425th edition of Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar, Marcus J. Hello to my fantastic listening audience across the internet. Welcome to the latest installment of my podcast. I've been a busy boy this week. Mourning the loss of a head coach, paired with the end of the season for the Heels, planting a flowerbed and exponentially expanding a Pokemon collection in a weekend really can take it out of a fella. I watched the first half of the Dook Uconn game today and left the house in an upset storm around halftime to deal with my Pokemon affairs. Left the house angry because Duke was winning by 20, not thinking in the least that Uconn would come back and have one of the best finishes I've seen in years. Wow I do love this game. My favorite time of year if I'm being honest is still the fall because of the trees in the mountains. BUT March is a close second because of things like that Duke Uconn finish. March Madness makes it fun to be alive for a month. I did finish dead last in the bracket pool that I entered. Saint John's let the boy down. Tough cheese. I hope some individual out there enjoyed the episode. Honey Bee by Muddy Waters and company really kicks the mule. Prince on Plectrumelectrum is suuuuch a nice tone and still to this day, Jimmy Page playing No Quarter at The O2 Arena in my opinion is the best example of guitar playing that one could offer. Whoever reads this, God bless. But you're here so what the heck. In four months I've managed to find and maintain a loophole in the Pokemon card world that has allowed me to catapult rather quickly to an impressive collection. A card shop owner this week told another customer that I most likely have more than enough to become a vendor at card shows. I believe that he is right. To give a visual, it is currently 5 full binders of modern, 2 full binders of vintage and a huge tote box full of the more fancy stuff. All sorted and organized. I felt like the Daywalker at that card show this weekend absolutely going nuts in there and balling out of control. No shame at all. I'm a 33 year old man with more game than an arcade. I handed an ol boy a handful of cards for trade value earlier today. I read this guy like My Side of the Mountain. After seeing the top 3 cards in the stack, buddy looked up at me like I was Neo in the Matrix. "How did you know I liked this stuff?" his question to which I replied "Who doesn't like that stuff"? He gave a trade value offer and I cracked buddy for a nasty Mewtwo. WHAT AN EAR BEATING. The point is, I almost didn't have time for my ever-faithful listening audience across the inter webs because I was too busy balling out of control. Submitting this at midnight like Cinderella. Lured Up Podcast 385 GO Tourist Trap Live Streamed on - 3/3/2026 Publish Date - 3/5/2026 The last week of gameplay has been some of the best Raiding the game has seen. With multiple chases and backgrounds, this week was either a collectors best dream or worst nightmare. One thing was for certain, and that was how both the Road to Kalos and the GO Tour itself were set up to accommodate spending. We both had a different approach to the event, but we both felt the pressure of spending throughout. March is shaping up to have some great events. Blogs have been released covering the next three weeks of gameplay. This comes after last week's March Content Update felt very light on info. The 30th Anniversary Event brings an ambitious amount of Pokémon to the gameboard, with plenty of availability for Legendaries. After the anniversary event we get a one-two punch from the Pokopia Celebration Event and the Bug Out! The schedule may be structured, but it hasn't slowed down at all. Details for each of the IRL GO Fest events has been released and Mewtwo and Zeroara are leading the charge. The event will switch up the habitat style for this event, and even offers a stand alone city experience ticket. If the Early Bird ticket sales are any indication, this year's GO Fest is going to be sold out across the board. We end the show with a discussion about how the Road to Kalos trained us to be prepared to spend, only to be followed up with an even bigger weekend of Raiding. We discussed the Scopely Effect last week, and we think this may be another side of that coin. It looks like a future “Global” events could be increasingly more demanding on our wallets! Not a single individual is interested, but for the last two weeks I've been amassing a Pokemon card collection that could stop traffic. Yes I am a 33 year old man but it's not creepy at all because I opened first edition, base, jungle, fossil and team rocket packs myself in real time in the 90's at the KB Toys in Berkeley Mall so don't tell me what I can and can't do with Pokemon cards. It's in fact, genuinely wholesome that I took the time and effort to build my childhood collection back to something admirable. I will say this. If I still had my childhood collection in good condition I could purchase a home outright and own a business from Pokemon profit. Happy Halloween, everyone!   For the first time (and in podcasting history), I will be entering the Pokémon world! All thanks to my friend, Marcus J. Anthony (Elite MJ)!   Marcus has written a phenomenal fan fiction series, Pokémon: Next Generation. The series is set ten years after Ash Ketchum won the Pokémon World Championships.  Inspired by Ash Ketchum, Johto native Marc Masters is on his own journey in the home region of his hero.  Together with his friends Rachel and Anthony, they are currently traveling across Kanto with unique goals.  Along the way, Marc has won four gym badges from Forrest (Brock's youngest brother), Rain (Misty's cousin), Sgt. Sara (Lt. Surge's daughter), and Skorcha (Blaine's grandfather).  In addition to earning gym badges, Marc uncovered a threat that could destroy the Pokémon world: this threat's name is Mew-Z.  This Pokémon is unlike any creature that inhabits this world; it is pure evil. This monstrosity was the brainchild of Team Rocket leader Giovanni and brought to life by the sinister Dr. Yung and Evice, using genes from Mew, Mewtwo, Zygarde, and unknown factors.  While it is powerful, Mew-Z has not reached its final form.    According to Looker, for Mew-Z to reach its full potential, it must absorb both Mew and Mewtwo in one hour. The creature has begun hunting down mythical and legendary Pokémon, as well as Zygarde cells, to boost its power. Both Jirachi and Tapu Koko have fallen victim to this monstrosity.  He is also growing a following and assisting him with his misdeeds are Evice and a mysterious, red-haired woman named Commander, who kidnapped both Ash Ketchum and Pikachu at the series' beginning.  For the first time, Mew-Z broke its silence and is the guest on the 2025 Halloween episode.
