Send us a textWelcome back, Trainers! It's Episode 245 of the Purified Podcast, and June is starting with a BANG! We've got a brand-new season, a major company shake-up, tons of event news, and PvP updates to dive into. It's time to celebrate a Delightful Summer in Pokémon GO!
Lured Up Podcast 348: Coming TogetherLive Streamed on - 5/28/25Publish Date - 5/31/25With a Shadow Raid Day and a GMAX Battle Day behind us, we share our feelings behind the impact that Remote Raid Passes have had on our IRL Communities. While Ken's heart is still firmly with the IRL crowd, he was pleased to share that the impact felt from remoters was positive all around. Adam however, is still down on the mechanic, feeling like the magic and exclusivity that Max Battles brought to the game has been ripped away from us. This will be an ongoing topic, and we are eager to hear what everyone thinks.GO Fest Osaka is this weekend and it brought 100 person lobbies for GMAX Rillaboom! It is easy to go big at an event like that, so it will be interesting to see how Rillaboom lobbies do as part of the Serene Retreat event that the rest of the world has. It may actually be tougher because the GMAX Battles are spread out over the weekend. Let us know how you do!There are a few small bits of news to cover like new Masuda music coming to the game for GO Fest, the return of the Regis to Raids, and Jangmo-o being selected as our June Community Day Pokémon. Niantic Spatial has also officially branched off as the Scopely deal is now complete. Recon will be their new mapping mechanic and as far as we can see, all the criteria for Ingress submissions will stay the same. We are wondering if many PGO Trainers that played Ingress will be hanging up the game for good. Finally we dig into our GO Fest: Jersey City plans, as we have an incredibly packed weekend ahead of us. We are excited to announce that we have been selected as Notable Trainers for the fourth year in a row! Thank you to everyone for the support as we hope to meet you in person at the Notable Trainer Tent! We also have our full schedule posted on LuredUp.com, including info for our Friday night meetup at The Pixel Lab in downtown Jersey City! On April 30th, 2025, a U.S. court ruled that Apple's anti-steering policies are anti-competitive and unenforceable. That single sentence could redefine the mobile app economy. For the first time ever, developers can now directly link to their own web stores from inside their iOS apps, promoting them, pricing them competitively, and funneling players off-platform without fear of being banned. We unpacked everything on a special emergency episode with Chip Thurston, Head of Gaming at FastSpring (and former Scopely product leader)
Tonight we hear from DJz on the DTI Debacle and examine why the DTI faction store changes may have been not as necessary as Scopely believes. In this episode of Game Changers, Jackson Vaughan explores the rising power of IP licensing in today's gaming landscape—why it's becoming essential for discoverability, and how developers are using it to drive growth across mobile, PC, and console. We unpack the challenges facing studios today, from rising ad costs to shrinking visibility, and spotlight how familiar brands and characters can give games a vital edge. With examples from Monopoly Go! to Scopely's billion-dollar strategy, we look at how licensed IP is helping developers cut through the noise, reach high-value players, and extend a game's lifecycle.Plus, we dive into the growing trend of major IP holders like Disney and LEGO partnering with trusted studios instead of building in-house—and why that's a smart play in a high-risk market. In a world of endless content, IP isn't just a shortcut to attention—it's a serious business strategy.Liked what you heard? Lured Up Podcast 340: Meeting With NianticLive Streamed on - 3/15/25Publish Date - 3/19/25This was quite the week in Pokémon GO. With the Community reeling from the news of the sale to Scopely. The amount of uncertainty and emotion is at an all time high. With feelings spanning the entire spectrum of thought, some Trainers remain concerned with cautious optimism, while others think this will spell out the demise of Pokémon GO as we know it. While our perspective is definitely to be optimistic while calling it like we see it, we had some of our concerns and doubts eased a bit after meeting with Niantic for a Q&A session to discuss the transition.I was able to meet with Michael Steranka the Senior Product Director on Pokémon GO and Mark Van Lommel, Niantic's Director of Communications, Games and Influencer Relations. Our 30 minute Zoom call was a no-nonsense information fest, where a small group of Pokémon GO creators from around the world could communicate directly with Niantic to have their questions answered. On this episode we will go through in detail some of the key questions that were asked, and Niantic's detailed and confidence inspired responses. Time will absolutely tell what the future holds for Pokémon GO, but for now we were able to address some of the topics that matter most to Trainers. This week on the pod, things are getting wild—because nothing screams "totally ethical government" like a Tesla dealership popping up on the White House lawn! Yep, Trump casually rolled up to his new South Lawn Tesla dealership—complete with a free, live-streamed commercial on Musk's X platform. Ethics, schmethics! And hey, nothing screams "I'm totally into electric vehicles now" like last year's EV-hating candidate sitting in a Cybertruck and shouting out Elon Musk's patriotic greatness. Seems legit.Speaking of questionable decisions, Casey Anthony's back—again—because who wouldn't trust parenting advice from someone with her…unique qualifications? Casey's now on TikTok, claiming she's here to advocate for Caylee and give legal advice. Definitely sounds promising, right? Her attorney called it out perfectly: it's not about redemption; it's about clicks, controversy, and a chance to remind us all (again) how tragic her past is. Shocker. Finally, because the mobile gaming world just wasn't complete, Scopely now owns Pokémon Go. Yep, that Scopely—the folks famous for games like "Yahtzee with Buddies." Niantic handed over their golden goose, along with Monster Hunter Now and Pikmin Bloom. So get ready for your augmented-reality addiction to hit new heights—or new monetization nightmares. Probably both. This week's lineup has it all: ethical gymnastics at the White House, Casey Anthony's latest attempt at relevancy, and the corporate takeover of your childhood nostalgia. Lured Up Podcast 338Livestreamed on - 2/28/2025Publish Date - 3/1/2025What an interesting week it has been! After the shocking news last week about Niantic's rumored 3.5 Billion Dollar Sale of their gaming division to Scopely, the Community has seemed to let it all go in trade for hype about GO Tour! We aren't sure if this is good or bad, but we should all stay alert as if it does happen, it may come out of nowhere. It's been a long drive on the Road To Unova this week as we started working our way through the Tour Pass. We discuss if the Battle Pass format is a slippery slope or if it is a welcomed addition to the game. From issues with the UI to unengaging tasks, it really is all about the rewards, which so far have been pretty awesome, so long as you shelled out $20 for the Tour Pass Deluxe.Black and White Kyurem will have new Adventure Effects with unique benefits. From making GO Plus catches easier to keeping jumpy Pokémon standing still during the catch sequence, these two new effects should see significant usage from Trainers during Unova Tour. With Dual Destiny coming to a close after Unova Tour Global, Might & Mastery will be here before you know it. With Kubfu and Urshifu leading the charge, it appears to be another Season of non-stop events, although the Raid lineups seem to be less than stellar. Combined with the March Content Update, there is no signs of Niantic slowing down as we will have things to do every weekend, making the game-life balance a tough juggling act.Once we get through the March Update, we talk about the first new event of the Season, Powerful Potential, which brings with it an $8 event ticket, in a very transactional feeling encounter with a second Kubfu. Is Niantic training us to be ready for aggressive monetization from Scopely? We may never know, but what is clear, is that PGO has really been asking for more time and money than it has in the past.Road to Unova: bit.ly/LU335RoadToUnova TourPass: bit.ly/LU333TourPass Unova Tour Global: bit.ly/LU330UnovaGlobalKyurem Adventure Effects: https://bit.ly/LU338AdventureEffects Might & Mastery: https://bit.ly/LU338MightMasteryMarch Content Update: https://bit.ly/LU338March Powerful Potential: https://bit.ly/LU338PowerfulPotential LuredUp@PokemonProfessor.com Voicemail and SMS: 732-835-8639 Use code FULLHEAL at https://tgacards.com/ for 10% off your order!Support the show by bookmarking and shopping at TCGPlayer.com using this link - https://bit.ly/TCGPlayerAffiliate Connect with us on multiple platforms! https://linktr.ee/PokemonProfessorNetwork HostsKen PescatoreAdam TuttleWriter and ProducerKen PescatoreExecutive Producer XanderShow music provided by GameChops and licensed through Creative Commons▾ FOLLOW GAMECHOPS ▾http://instagram.com/GameChopshttp://twitter.com/GameChopshttp://soundcloud.com/GameChopshttp://facebook.com/GameChopshttp://youtube.com/GameChopshttp://www.gamechops.comIntro MusicLake Verity (Drum & Bass Remix) TetracaseGameChops - Ultraballhttp://gamechops.com/ultraball/https://soundcloud.com/tetracase https://soundcloud.com/MegaFlare0Break MusicNational ParkMikel & GameChopsGameChops - Poké & Chillhttp://smarturl.it/pokechillhttps://twitter.com/mikel_beatsOutro MusicVast Poni CanyonCG5 & GlitchxCity (Future Bass Remix)GameChops - Ultraballhttp://gamechops.com/ultraball/ http://soundcloud.com/cg5-beatshttps://soundcloud.com/glitchxcityPokémon And All Respective Names are Trademark and © of Nintendo 1996-2024 Pokémon GO is Trademark and © of Niantic, Inc.Lured Up and the Pokémon Professor Network are not affiliated with Niantic Inc., The Pokémon Company, Game Freak or Nintendo.#pokemon #pokemongo #podcast
