God Will Take Care of You - Morning Prayer
Matthew 10:9-16
Evangelist Andrew Wilson- A sermon preached Sunday Evening, on February 23, 2025.
ABANDONING WORRY is a new message series from Winning with the Word Joan E. Murray. Discover how you can obtain freedom from worry and doubt by trusting GOD and living by faith. You have no reason to doubt GOD; develop an intimate relationship with Him and He will guide you. Remember HE is GOD, our CREATOR and He wants to help you.
In this heartfelt message, our brother shares a word from God that's perfect for anyone feeling down or struggling. He reminds us that God will always take care of us, no matter the situation. Using the story of Elijah and the widow from the book of 1 Kings chapter 17, he shows how faith and obedience can lead to blessings even in tough times. This inspiring talk encourages us to trust in God's promise, get up from our struggles, and believe that God will provide for us. Through every challenge, God is there to help us, so let's not give up hope. JD Bauman is the Director of Effective Altruism for Christians (EACH) and founder of Christians for Impact. Born to missionary parents, JD was rooted in a Christian upbringing that emphasized the importance of generosity to see real change throughout the world for the Kingdom of God. JD provides insightful perspectives on the principles of effective giving and the practical implications for believers who seek to harness their resources for maximum impact, emphasizing data-driven decision-making and how the ITN (Importance, Tractability, Neglectedness) framework can help individuals prioritize their charitable efforts, guiding them to tackle the most pressing issues in society effectively. Major topics include: Understanding effective altruism Christian perspectives on altruism Core frameworks for effective giving Balancing physical and spiritual needs Practical steps for giving effectively The role of spontaneous giving Considering the local church, global Church, and future Church in effective giving Thinking about global problems with the ITN framework (importance, tractability, and neglectedness) Recommended charity evaluators Influencing others through generosity Helping people pursue meaningful careers through Christian for Impact QUOTES TO REMEMBER “I didn't love economics, but I studied economics because I thought I could earn more money with an economics degree and give more money away.” “Effective Altruism is this idea: Use evidence and reason to find the best ways to do good, and then to take action on the basis.” “I want to love those God loves and I think God loves everyone, and when we're more effective, we can help more people made in God's image.” “Outcomes matter, good intentions aren't enough.” “Jesus cares about the body and the soul. And we should too.” “I think we have really good reasons for thinking that a dollar goes a lot further globally. And if people gathering in Jesus' name in West Bengal is just as important as them gathering in North Bethesda, then I think we should honor those faith communities equally. And I think we can, on average, promote a lot more growth in church communities globally than locally for the same dollar.” “All problems can be categorized by Importance, tractability, and neglectedness.” “If we want our charity to make a real impact in the real world, we need to be giving in ways that create a world that's better than it otherwise would have been, that bring the kingdom of God into this world where otherwise it might have been broken.” “Let's make it a new normal in the Church to give radically and effectively.” LINKS FROM THE SHOW Effective Altruism for Christians Christians for Impact Operation Mobilization Wycliffe Bible Translators (see our interview with CEO John Chesnut) Society of Christian Philosophers BlessBig.org (see our interview with founder Jay Dykstra) When Helping Hurts (see our interview with coauthor Brian Fikkert) GiveWell Happier Lives Institutes Animal Charity Evaluators Charity Navigator ROI Ministry (see our interview with founder, Tim Barker) All Access International (see our interview with founder, Lane Kipp) The Finish Line Community Facebook Group The Finish Line Community LinkedIn Group BIBLE REFERENCES FROM THE SHOW Matthew 6:28-30 | God Will Take Care of You And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. It is so easy to overlook the way God provides for us because it's not usually in the way we want or expect. Plus, in the world's eyes it looks cheap. It looks poor. It looks like we are incapable of taking care of ourselves. It looks vulnerable and reliant upon others and we live in a world that thrives on independence. Today I wanted to share with you the way God has moved in my life. How He has provided for myself and my family all throughout my life. My hope in sharing these stories with you is that it helps you to open your eyes to how God is working and providing in your life, so that you can start looking for it and get excited the next time it happens. So go grab yourself a yummy drink and maybe some tissues because I believe God is going to do some work in us today. Let's get to it. Xo Molly P.S. •The Gay Sisters of Chicago, Illinois became the top selling singing artists for Savoy Records In 1951, Geraldine, Evelyn and Mildred Gay went from local gospel sensations in Chicago's Church of God in Christ community to national stardom with the release of the hit single, “God Will Take Care of You”. They travelled the world sharing their style of Gospel Music. Because of their release “God Will Take Care of You” it became a top seller of 1 Million copies; which is the equivalent of a Platinum Album these days. That was unheard of in the 1950's. •The Gay family, after moving to Chicago, IL were members and attended Elder Lucy Smith's All Nations Pentecostal Church on the West Side. Elder Lucy Smith was a Pentecostal pastor and faith healer and the grandmother of Little Lucy Smith (Pianist for the Roberta Martin Singers.) The All-Nations Pentecostal church had over 3, 000 members with a weekly radio broadcast affording the Gay Sisters access to reach people all over the Midwest. •The Gay Sisters appeared with Mahalia Jackson at Carnegie Hall, recorded several sides/singles for Savoy Records during the 1950's and, along with their brother Donald “Preacher” Gay, in the 1960's for Rush Records Checker Records, Faith Records, and other labels. •Most recently, (2014) Geraldine Gay and her brother Donald Gay teamed for projects released by The Sirens Records. Almost to the end, Geraldine could sit down and play gospel piano in a style that combined the kinetic energy of Arizona Dranes with the whispering jazz of Thomas Dorsey & Erroll Garner. She was a magician at the keys. •Please send Let's Talk: Gospel Music Gold an email sharing your thoughts about this show segment also if you have any suggestions of future guests you would like to hear on the show. You spend time with God by listening. Think of that image of Dolores from Disney's 'Encanto', with her hand up to her ear. That. Just listening. This listening is continuous, that's mediation. When you're listening you're not thinking, that's meditation. And then in the quiet listening, Love is felt. You hear God's silence, and then you feel God's Love. You're gifted His Peace, and then you notice that that too, is continuous! No matter what comes (or goes), this Peace stands. All you have to do is remember to listen for the feeling of Peace, and then that Peace dissolves everything that isn't Peace... help comes, because God is. I Love you, Nik nikki@curlynikki.com Today's Quotes: "...continuous reaching toward the center of our being, will eventually result in the experience of the Christ. In that moment, we discover the mystery of spiritual living: We do not have to take thought for what we shall eat, what we shall drink, or wherewithal we shall be clothed; we do not have to plan; we do not have to struggle. only Christ can live our life for us, and we meet the Christ within ourselves in meditation. The degree to which we attain the experience or activity of the Christ, the presence of the Spirit of God in us, determines the degree of individual unfoldment." -by Joel S. This listening is continuous, that's mediation. When you're listening you're not thinking, that's meditation. And then in the quiet listening,Love is felt. You hear God's silence, and then you feel God's Love. You're gifted His Peace, and then you notice that that too, is continuous! No matter what comes (or goes), this Peace stands. All you have to do is remember to listen for the feeling of Peace, and then that Peace dissolves everything that isn't Peace...help comes, because God is.I Love you,Niknikki@curlynikki.comToday's Quotes: "...continuous reaching toward the center of our being, will eventually result in the experience of the Christ. The degree to which we attain the experience or activity of the Christ, the presence of the Spirit of God in us, determines the degree of individual unfoldment."-by Joel S.
