Stacy and Brenda talk with the Human Polygraph, Will Carlos about the Helpers Paradox and who it affects. Getting to the root of that feeling of not feeling good enough or feeling like a fraud and struggling with imposter complex and the 8 Pillars of the Impostor Complex. It's not just about "Believing in yourself", there are 8 specific parts and when they are all understood Healers can move forward with more ease and joy. How he came to be called the Human Polygraph by his clients. How can we clear the overwhelm and align with ease? Wil Carlos helps healers who want to feel safe to be seen, especially online. Wil helps Healers get to a point where they are able to be themselves online without being ruled by the fear of criticism or judgment. Described by his clients as a “Human Polygraph” Wil uses his spiritual gift of Claire-Audience, and limiting belief clearing, to help his clients see exactly where they have been subconsciously staying safe so that they can shift from overwork to ease and fun as they be more of themselves in their business After delivering his signature belief clearing session with 500 people in 28 countries, Wil has honed his direct, honest and “No-fluff” approach to help his clients end self sabotage and confusion. Wil's deeper purpose (That honestly still scares the Sh*t out of him) is to help others heal their relationship with God, (The God of their understanding), as well as with themselves, so that they can build their life + business on a solid foundation of faith, self love and spiritual confidence. I've spent probably $100,000 on creative tools in my lifetime, and that's a conservative estimate. My output should be so much more based on the embarrassment of technical riches I possess. But Shiny Object Syndrome isn't the real problem here. That's a made-up name and another side of perfectionism that creative people deal with constantly. But I refuse to make it a pathology; it's just a feature of the process. We all have psychological protective behavior patterns. That's a part of being human. For some people, it shows up as high achievement; for others, it appears as ambivalence in our commitments, and for others, it's a compulsion to never move out of our safe zones. Impostor Complex is a similar condition. It's a way of protecting ourselves from exposure, embarrassment, and failure. And it's a part of almost every creative person's life that I've come across, including my own. Creative people learn to work in spite of these protective tendencies. We take risks, we try new things, and we fail repeatedly in order to get something just right. It's a part of the process for all of us. When a client comes to me reporting Shiny Object Syndrome or Impostor Complex, or any other diagnosis you might find in a gossip magazine quiz, I ask them about what's really going on. What are they really afraid of that their protective mechanisms are kicking in? Getting to the heart of those fears makes the surface symptoms go away. #fearishuman #egohatespain #youareok

Today on the Ready Enough Podcast, I have the joy of speaking with the deeply wise and powerful Meg Lightheart. Meg is a presentation coach for people with a vision and a leadership coach for people facing uncertainty, complexity, and mess. She particularly likes supporting people who feel in over their heads and who sense that what's got them to where they are isn't going to get them through this next set of challenges. So together, we’re talking about where the Imposter Complex show up for folx doing presentations and other types of performance. We talk about where the Imposter Complex shows up in leadership and the ever-so-vital distinctions between independent leadership and interdependent leadership. But more specifically, we talk about how the Imposter Complex loves to get into and under or activate our perfectionism and how it tag teams with humility to become diminishment. Meg shares her experience in how the Imposter Complex shows up for her as a trans feminine person who uses she/her pronouns. Because the Impostor Complex is obsessed with binaries and certainty and all or nothing. So, we get into where this plays into the idea of “trans enough.” I think you’re going to love this conversation. Find full show notes for this episode here. In this episode, we combat the voices of the Impostor Syndrome and overcome the thoughts that you are not good enough. Louise and Michael give strategies to empower yourself and slam dunk the impostor voice once and for all. Louise Bedford and Michael Yardney Inspired by Tanya Geisler, we know that the Impostor Complex thrives on 5 LIES. Louise Bedford goes through each lie and Michael Yardney responds to each one to debunk its authority. Here they are: If you have self-doubt you will fail You can’t admit your vulnerability You are not ready It is only a matter of time until you blow it They don’t mean the praise they are just being NICE. And Louise walks through some antidotes to build your self-worth. Firstly... Start with a simple thank you. The Impostor Complex hates the word 'thank you'. Just say THANK YOU to the small triumphs. No need to diminish or put your achievement down in any way. Both sides WIN from saying a simple thank you. Secondly… Seek out constructive criticism on small things which don’t affect your identity. Thirdly and most of all the Impostor Syndrome likes you to be SMALL, ALONE, and in the DARK. Having support is ESSENTIAL to bring yourself out into the light. That is why we bring you free resources at Talking Trading each week to give you access to the best experts in their fields and hear their stories of inspiration. Today I am delighted to have my coach and friend Desiree Adaway on the show. Desiree helped me see, integrate, and then SPEAK this truth in every single and all gigs—that race, class, age, gender, ethnicity, gender expression, and other identities will always come into play as you do this work, and that I, Tanya, will not always be the best person to provide you support you need to do this work of shifting our mindset around leadership. AND I am committed to helping you reduce barriers and using my privilege to connect you to networks, resources, and teachers that CAN support you on this journey. So in this episode, Desiree and I talk about Desiree’s understanding of liberation and identities and how these two work together when it comes to navigating our world—and informing our Impostor Complex. We outline the frameworks of liberatory consciousnesses: awareness, analysis, action, and accountability. We talk about why we are so scared of getting it wrong and how this determines our every move, getting over the sense that if we do something wrong then we are wrong at our core. So a lot of that comes down to understanding the characteristics of white supremacy and focusing on brave spaces instead of safe spaces. Then we offer different ways of showing up with this deeper understanding to do the work. Find full show notes for this episode here. I had so much fun talking to today's guest, Tanya Geisler, I did not want this interview to be over! Tanya's expertise is The Imposter Complex. Based on the Imposter Phenomenon, it looks at how most women are incapable of internalizing their own success, but totally able to internalize their failures. We talked about how this messes with women's lives in so many ways --primarily isolating you, keeping you out of action and making you doubt your capacity. Tanya walked me through the behavioral traits that indicate when you're in the Imposter Complex, how and why this is conditioned into women, the double binds it creates (this was so eye opening), AND, how and why the Imposter Complex shows up (this part is the good news). We also got into a chat about integrity, unshakable confidence, collective grief and desire. This is probably a listen more than once type of episode, enjoy, share and let me know what you think! xo, E About Tanya Geisler: Tanya Geisler is a Leadership Coach (CPCC) with a penchant for clarity and an abhorrence of the Impostor Complex. Tanya, you were recommended from one of our club members, Helen, who said that all the conversations in our club right now are ... Well, not all of them, but a lot of them are around feeling like an imposter, a lot of self-doubt, especially because we have a lot of new copywriters in our club. This is what you talk about day in and day out. So we’re really grateful that you’re here to kind of just address this challenge that we all are facing head on, and hopefully we can help some copywriters along the way. Tanya: May it be so. Kira: A good place to start is with your story. You know what, especially as I’ve heard you, I’ve heard your name in the past, watched your TED video, checked out your website, and you’ve stepped into your starring role, but I always wonder, when did you do that, and was it easy for you? Were you always in a starring role? Could you tell us your story? Tanya: I want to laugh. The first thing I want to do is laugh. Yeah, it was so easy. No, not much about this has been easy at all. It’s been tons of self-doubt, tons of, “What do I know? Who am I?” I talk about there are 12 lies that the Imposter Complex wants us to believe. And I believed them for probably the first ... Even if I put a name, a number on this, I worry that it’s going to trigger people, but really and truly for probably the first four to five years of my work as a leadership coach I was really coming up against the Imposter Complex, like huge. And what I started to recognize was this through line that was inhibiting me from stepping into my starring role. That wasn’t the language that I would’ve had back then, but the through line that was inhibiting me from being ...
