Let's face it: innovation is our ADHD advantage, but execution moves the needle. Shiny Object Syndrome is not a quirky personality trait; our ADHD brains are hardwired for novelty, so creating consistency takes self-awareness and strategy. Lucky for you, this episode is full of candid stories, neuroscience-backed insights, and actionable advice on how to do just that. Loan me your ear holes for the next 25 minutes for:

Mike Jackness and Aymeric catch up on their e-commerce journey as friends and talk about how timing and luck are so important in entrepreneurial success. Success is always a mix of luck, tenacity, and grit. It takes a bit of luck to be in the right place at the right time and some grit to keep going when things aren't as profitable as they used to. At the same time, success also involves balancing between trying new things and focusing on what works. Knowing when to zone in on the one thing or when to test the waters only comes with experience and time. My good buddy Aymeric who's been a friend of mine is on the podcast today to talk exactly about what it takes to be successful as an entrepreneur. We've both had our fair share of successful and failed ventures, but that didn't stop us from trying and moving forward. If you're a business owner looking at the tariffs right now and thinking about moving out of e-commerce, this episode might be eye opening for you. In the end, the choice is yours to make. Aymeric, thanks for joining us on the podcast today! If you'd like to outsource some work and get your social life back together, check out the VA Placement service he offers here.

In today's episode, you'll learn: Why shiny object syndrome is holding you back from consistent improvement. How the urge to constantly switch swing thoughts, putters, or training methods prevents long-term progress. The four stages of skill development and why most golfers quit too soon. How fear of success can lead to self-sabotage on the course. The role of strategic tunnel vision in accelerating improvement. Why journaling and after-round reflection reports are crucial for tracking progress. How to stay committed to one process long enough to see measurable gains. Instagram: @thegolfhypnotherapist Twitter: @parsoverbogeys Key Takeaways: Shiny Object Syndrome Feels Productive But Sabotages Progress: Constantly chasing new techniques, equipment, or coaching creates an illusion of improvement while preventing deep skill development. The Adult Learning Model Explains Skill Development: Golfers must progress from unconscious incompetence (not knowing what they don't know) to unconscious competence (performing without thinking), which requires repetition and patience. Fear of Success Can Be a Hidden Barrier: Many golfers unconsciously sabotage their performance because they are uncomfortable with the pressure and expectations that come with playing at a higher level. Strategic Tunnel Vision is Key to Mastery: Blocking out distractions, focusing on one process, and eliminating unnecessary sources of golf advice allows skill development to take root. Frustration is a Normal Part of Progress: Skill development is non-linear, and setbacks are expected. Instead of abandoning a strategy, commit to working through challenges. Measure Progress Over Time, Not Round-to-Round: Weekly, monthly, and quarterly reflections provide a better picture of long-term improvement than focusing on one bad round or a temporary plateau. Shiny Object Syndrome is a Symptom of Impatience and Self-Doubt: Overcoming it requires commitment, patience, and a willingness to trust the process long enough for real results to show. Key Quotes: “Golf improvement isn't about finding a magic fix. It's about sticking to a process long enough for the results to compound.” “The moment frustration sets in, most golfers pivot to something new instead of staying the course.” “Shiny object syndrome provides a short-term dopamine hit but leads to long-term frustration.” “When there's a gap between expectation and reality, frustration and doubt fill the space.” “If you keep abandoning your plan, you're never giving it a chance to actually work.” “Your subconscious mind wants safety. If rapid improvement feels unfamiliar, you might unconsciously sabotage yourself.” “Commitment to one process is the true key to unlocking consistent progress.” Time Stamps: 00:00: Introduction and Personal Updates 07:39: Understanding Shiny Object Syndrome 18:12: The Impact of Impatience and Self-Doubt 27:01: Strategies to Overcome Shiny Object Syndrome

There is something to be said for staying in your lane and staying true to yourself as an artist instead of chasing the trends. But on the flip side, sometimes that attitude is not always the right answer. Today's guest Erich McVey is opening up about when he realized sometimes it is ok to try things you aren't super comfortable with. You can try and emulate others but when it comes down to it, it is better to be yourself than a watered down version of someone else. But how do achieve that while also making sure you aren't falling behind? Today's episode might just tell you exactly how to do that!MASTERMIND IS COMING BACK! Do you ever feel like there just aren't enough hours in the day? As a business owner, your to-do list is virtually never-ending. But what if you could grow your business faster by doing less? Today's podcast guest is proof that it's possible. Rodric Lenhart is a lifelong entrepreneur, multi-best-selling author, and sought-after speaker. Over the last 30 years, he's built several multi-million dollar companies in both the product and service industries. Having traveled to more than 50 countries across six continents, Rodric brings a unique worldview and a deep appreciation for freedom. All profits from his book Million Dollar Flip Flops are donated to his foundation, Send a Student Leader Abroad, with the goal of sending one million kids on life-changing trips. Build Your Business Around Your Life Like most successful business owners, Rodric is very protective of his time. He wakes up in the sun and has a structured morning routine, after which he works from around 10:00 to 3:00 pm. It's important for him to leave empty space on the calendar for reading, writing, and introspection. That quiet time is crucial for developing the business. When you're busy all day everyday, that leaves little room for new ideas. If you're trying to find your ideal daily routine, ask yourself what you want your day to look like a year from now–then build a business that fuels that, instead of the other way around. Advice for New Entrepreneurs Rodric has two pieces of advice for new entrepreneurs: the first is to turn off social media. Forget what everyone else is doing and focus on your business and your customers. Don't get lost in the comparison game. Second, try to avoid Shiny Object Syndrome. It's easy to get sucked into the newest app or strategy, but successful businesses are built on the basics. Be willing to pick up the phone and have conversations with people. Figure out what your target audience wants and needs, then give it to them. Let them tell you what they want, instead of trying to impose your ideas on them. Listen and learn. Enjoy this episode with founder Rodric Lenhart… Soundbytes 11:29-11:51 “I'm very protective of my time. I haven't set an alarm in probably 15 years. I wake up with the sun. I have a very set morning routine, and I try to work between around 10:00 and 3:00 every day. And I make a lot of time for reading and introspection and writing and developing the business, not just being busy all the time.” 21:10-21:36 “It's shiny object syndrome, the next cool app or program, the next customer acquisition method. That's not what's going to give you a successful business. It's back to the basics. It's having conversations with people. It's being willing to pick up the phone. It's learning what do they want, what do they need? That's how you know what to give them, versus thinking you have this idea of what to give them.” Quotes “The bulk of my financial abundance came from the ability to change course.” “What do you want your day to look like a year from now? And let's build a business that feeds that, not the other way around.” “Why write a book? Well, it's to help people who are in the same situation I might have been in 20 years ago.” “Ultimately, it all comes from a place of service. And I think if we aren't wired that way to start, none of the other things fall into place.” “I don't know what chapter two looks like, but I know I can't see it while I'm in the middle of chapter one.” Links mentioned in this episode: Million Dollar Flip Flops: http://www.milliondollarflipflops.com/ Connect with Rodric on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rodriclenhart/ Connect with Rodric on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rodriclenhart/ Connect with brandiD: Download our free guide to learn 16 crucial website updates that attract more leads and convert visitors into clients: https://thebrandid.com/website-tweaks/ Ready to elevate your digital presence with a powerful brand or website?
