What's up friends, Alex here, back with another ThursdAI hot off the presses.Hold onto your hats because this week was another whirlwind of AI breakthroughs, mind-blowing demos, and straight-up game-changers. We dove deep into OpenAI's new "Deep Research" agent – and let me tell you, it's not just hype, it's legitimately revolutionary. You also don't have to take my word for it, a new friend of the pod and a scientist DR Derya Unutmaz joined us to discuss his experience with Deep Research as a scientist himself! You don't want to miss this conversation! We also unpack Google's Gemini 2.0 release, including the blazing-fast Flash Lite model. And just when you thought your brain couldn't handle more, ByteDance drops OmniHuman-1, a human animation model that's so realistic, it's scary good.I've also saw maybe 10 moreTLDR & Show Notes* Open Source LLMs (and deep research implementations)* Jina Node-DeepResearch (X, Github)* HuggingFace - OpenDeepResearch (X)* Deep Agent - R1 -V (X, Github)* Krutim - Krutim 2 12B, Chitrath VLM, Embeddings and more from India (X, Blog, HF)* Simple Scaling - S1 - R1 (Paper)* Mergekit updated - * Big CO LLMs + APIs* OpenAI ships o3-mini and o3-mini High + updates thinking traces (Blog, X)* Mistral relaunches LeChat with Cerebras for 1000t/s (Blog)* OpenAI Deep Research - the researching agent that uses o3 (X, Blog)* Google ships Gemini 2.0 Pro, Gemini 2.0 Flash-lite in AI Studio (Blog)* Anthropic Constitutional Classifiers - announced a universal jailbreak prevention (Blog, Try It)* Cloudflare to protect websites from AI scraping (News)* HuggingFace becomes the AI Appstore (link)* This weeks Buzz - Weights & Biases updates* AI Engineer workshop (Saturday 22) * Tinkerers Toronto workshops (Sunday 23 , Monday 24)* We released a new Dataset editor feature (X)* Audio and Sound* KyutAI open sources Hibiki - simultaneous translation models (Samples, HF)* AI Art & Diffusion & 3D* ByteDance OmniHuman-1 - unparalleled Human Animation Models (X, Page)* Pika labs adds PikaAdditions - adding anything to existing video (X)* Google added Imagen3 to their API (Blog)* Tools & Others* Mistral Le Chat has ios an and adroid apps now (X)* CoPilot now has agentic workflows (X)* Replit launches free apps agent for everyone (X)* Karpathy drops a new 3 hour video on youtube (X, Youtube)* OpenAI canvas links are now shareable (like Anthropic artifacts) - (example)* Show Notes & Links * Guest of the week - Dr Derya Umnutaz - talking about Deep Research* He's examples of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (ChatGPT), (ME/CFS) Deep Research, Nature article about Deep Reseach with Derya comments* Hosts* Alex Volkov - AI Evangelist & Host @altryne* Wolfram Ravenwolf - AI Evangelist @WolframRvnwlf* Nisten Tahiraj - AI Dev at github.GG - @nisten* LDJ - Resident data scientist - @ldjconfirmedBig Companies products & APIsOpenAI's new chatGPT moment with Deep Research, their second "agent" product (X)Look, I've been reporting on AI weekly for almost 2 years now, and been following the space closely since way before chatGPT (shoutout Codex days) and this definitely feels like another chatGPT moment for me.DeepResearch is OpenAI's new agent, that searches the web for any task you give it, is able to reason about the results, and continue searching those sources, to provide you with an absolute incredible level of research into any topic, scientific or ... the best taqueria in another country. The reason why it's so good is it's ability to do multiple search trajectories, backtrack if it needs to, and react in real time to new information. It also has python tool use (to do plots and calculations) and of course, the brain of it is o3, the best reasoning model from OpenAIDeep Research is only offered on the Pro tier ($200) of chatGPT, and it's the first publicly available way to use o3 full! and boy, does it deliver! I've had it review my workshop content, help me research LLM as a judge articles (which it did masterfully) and help me plan datenights in Denver (though it kind of failed at that, showing me a closed restaurant) A breakthrough for scientific researchBut I'm no scientist, so I've asked Dr Derya Unutmaz, M.D. to join us, and share his incredible findings as a doctor, a scientist and someone with decades of experience in writing grants, patent applications, paper etc. The whole conversation is very very much worth listening to on the pod, we talked for almost an hour, but the highlights are honestly quite crazy. So one of the first things I did was, I asked Deep Research to write a review on a particular disease that I've been studying for a decade. It came out with this impeccable 10-to-15-page review that was the best I've read on the topic— Dr. Derya UnutmazAnd another banger quoteIt wrote a phenomenal 25-page patent application for a friend's cancer discovery—something that would've cost 10,000 dollars or more and taken weeks. I couldn't believe it. Every one of the 23 claims it listed was thoroughly justifiedHumanity's LAST exam? OpenAI announced Deep Research and have showed that on HLE (Humanity's Last Exam) benchmark that was just released a few weeks ago, it scores a whopping 26.6 percent! When HLE was released (our coverage here) all the way back at ... checks notes... January 23 or this year! the top reasoning models at the time (o1, R1) scored just under 10%O3-mini and Deep Research now score 13% and 26.6% respectively, which means both that AI is advancing like crazy, but also.. that maybe calling this "last exam" was a bit premature?
"The Shadow" is probably the best known radio program... when polls were taken among college students who had never listened to OTR,"Can you name an old time radio show"... about 95% said, "The Shadow!" Series started in 1937 with Orson Welles initially playing the first year of the series. Later Bret Morrison, Bill Johnstone, John Archer, and Steve Courtleigh took on the role of tThe Shadow. Margo Lane was first played by Agnes Moorehead and later Marjorie Anderson, Marion Sharkley, Laura Mae Carpenter, Lesley Woods, Grace Matthews and Gertrude Warner. The series ended in 1954 and thankfully many episodes were recorded and have been preserved. Incidently the phrase, "The Shadow Knows" became part of our vernacular This episode will be stored in "The Shadow" Playlist.
Join the Wine Dream Team, Jaime Araujo, Tanisha Townsend, and Akos Forczek, and the Host, Antoine Abou-Samra for The Wine Hour #10. We have the pleasure to welcome István Szepsy Jr from Szepsy Winery in Tokaj, Hungary. SPECIAL GUEST BIO It all started in the 17th century with Máté Szepsy Laczkó. He was a priest, vine grower and winemaker. Educated abroad, he started to work for the lord of Tokaj, called György Rákóczi the First. Incidently, the Rákoczi family was important for the King and the Tokaj wine was important to the financing of war. György Rákóczi's wife, Zsuzsanna Lórántffy, controlled the wine business and asked Máté Szepsy Laczkó to define the Aszú wine making rules. That was in 1631. Aszú winemaking started a century earlier but there were no rules yet. Because of his work, Szepsy István Jr great-great-great-….-great grandfather got a Nobility title. Back then, Tokaj was the wine of the Queens, Kings, and Tsars. The wine making perpetuated in the family until the Soviet Union occupation of Hungary post WWII. Private enterprises were banned, and all work was directed to the cooperatives. They were producing mass and cheap wines. At the fall of Berlin Wall and the Communist Block in 1989, Istvan Szepsy Sr reestablished the Szepsy wine brand. He wanted to rediscover the excellence and taste of the Szepsy Tokaj from the Pre-Soviet era and yesteryears. As he retired 5 years ago, Istvan Szepsy Sr focuses solely on the grape production. Graduating as a wine maker in 2004, István Szepsy Jr, the 18th generation in the family, is now managing the winery with his sister Gabriella and her husband, perpetuating the legacy. PROGRAM Uncorked [4:16] Jaime Araujo and Akos Forczek discuss Sweet Wine, its place on the table and in the wine industry. Licensed To Taste [27:30] Tanisha Townsend enhances our knowledge of the different Sweet Wine types and producing regions. Have A Drink With Me [38:45] Antoine Abou-Samra has a conversation with István Szepsy Jr on the history of the Szepsy family, the resurgence of Tokaj and the bright future of the region. Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. Welcome to episode #249 which is the first official episode of Season 5 of Succotash: The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. That's right, it's season 5 and the show is no longer being called "Succotash Shut-In" as explained last week in Episode 248 which was our 10year anniversary show. Featuring Marc Hershon, Joe Paulino, Bill Heywatt, and yours truly in an extra-special conversation-and-trip-down-memory-lane extravaganza! I urge you to check out the episode if you haven't already. (I would like to point out that during that conversation I incorrectly stated that I had been contributing to "Succotash" since 2012. I looked in the archive and it turns out that I sent in 2 clips that were used in the episode from Apr 30, 2013, entitled Succotash Epi57: Boozin' With Bill (Again) which I will link here: https://succotash.libsyn.com/succotash-epi57-boozin-with-bill-again.) Oopsie. At any rate, that means in 10 days from when this episode is posted I will have been contributing to this program for 8 years. My apologies for any confusion this may have caused. This episode I've got clips for you from the soundcasts The Blood Buddies: Horror Podcast, Wack Brackets, and Daydrinking with Gary & Elliot. We're also sponsored by Henderson's Parachute Pants 2.0. Now, let's get to the clippage… CLIPS The Blood Buddies: Horror Podcast Come join Brian and David every other Friday to discuss a horror movie based off of a theme from a roulette wheel. Our featured clip is from January 18, 2018, where the guys dissect the opening moment of "It Follows" (2015) from director David Robert Mitchell. Wack Brackets Asking the burning questions you never knew you wanted answered until host Mike asked them. We bring on fellow podcasters and friends of the show to bracket off similar contestants using irrelevant, ever changing questions. Pending FDA approval! This clip hails from Epi58 from April of last year - an episode entitled: "Redneck Events w/Trashy Trashy: Mutton Bustin'" with guests Erika Curry and Cassandra Cardenes. Daydrinking with Gary & Elliot A cocktails and comedy podcast featuring American comedy treasure Gary Anthony Williams, home mixologist Elliot Blake, and an entire raft of celebrity guests who stop by Gary's house for a daytime tipple. Every episode has an original cocktail, a funny, unrehearsed, heartfelt chit-chat, and sometimes a second cocktail. Our clip is from their Episode 29 back in January 18th, 2019 with guest Dana Snyder from Adult Swim. Sidenote #1: This show has not posted an episode since Steely Dan Day of 2020… Steely Dan day, of course is May 19… Sidenote #2: We llast featured Daydrinking on Succotash Shut-In Epi207 last June. Well, that's it. The 1st show of season 5 in the can and in your ears…or EAR if it so happens that you only have one. And if you do, I appreciate you taking time to listen to this all the more. Your one ear has to do the work of a person with two ears and I'm not sure if most people that have two ears ever even take that into consideration…so for your consideration I am at LEAST twice as grateful. I think that's how the maths work…I'm pretty sure that's how gratitude works. This next season of "Succotash" is - as far as I know - is going to be released in the same fashion and with the same frequency of season 4 which is to say every week for the foreseeable future. So, tune in next week for Epi250 when show creator Marc Hershon is back hosting and bringing you content of clippage, chattage, or really whatever he would like to put in his episode. If you are listening to us through a streaming service of some sort and you'd like to listen to Succotash the moment it becomes available you can subscribe to us. I know that is how it works on Stitcher for example but I'm not 100% sure about the other methods. Could you do me a favor and check on that for me in case I forget to? I appreciate that a great deal. I'd also appreciate if you'd go to www.tysonsaner.com to find links to music, gaming videos, and the soundcast known as "Anti Social Show" which I co-host with Hunter Block. (Recently, Marc Hershon was a guest of "Anti Social Show" for EP91 which is called "Wordlike Objects with @hershco" because that is Marc Hershon's twitter account if you'd like to show him some love there.) Incidently, if you Google "Sounds By Tyson Saner" it is the easiest way to find "Anti Social Show" OTHER THAN going to the aformentioned website. Of course you can find the show's archive at www.succotashshow.com and feel free to do so. You are almost guaranteed to find something that you will enjoy listening to. If you in fact do, and you'd like to express your appreciation in some way, we would really appreciate it if you would share us with other people. It's what we mean when we ask you to Please…Pass The Succotash… — Tyson Saner
This podcast is going to deal with the shameful refusal of successive Irish governments to develop a national monument, a cultural quarter, a revolutionary quarter, a freedom quarter, a 1916 quarter on the battlefield site of Moore St.For those of you who don't know Moore Street runs parallel to O'Connell Street from Parnell Street to Henry Street beside the GPO. 16 Moore Street was the last meeting place of five of the seven signatories of the 1916 Proclamation - the leaders who planned and led the 1916 Easter Rising. It is also where the O'Rahilly - a leader of the Volunteers- was killed. In April 1916 the small streets around the GPO in Dublin were the site of a fierce battle between republican forces seeking independence and British forces determined to defeat them.On Friday evening, 28 April, and with the GPO in flames, the embattled republican defenders evacuated the building. The O'Rahilly was killed leading the first charge. As he lay dying in a shop doorway he wrote a last note to his wife:‘Written after I was shot. Darling Nancy I was shot leading a rush up Moore Street and took refuge in a doorway. While I was there I heard the men pointing out where I was and made a bolt for the laneway I am in now. I got more [than] one bullet I think. Tons and tons of love dearie to you and the boys and to Nell and Anna. It was a good fight anyhow. Please deliver this to Nannie O' Rahilly, 40 Herbert Park, Dublin. Goodbye Darling.Incidently 40 Herbert Park is not the subject of a similar debacle as that of Moore Street. More of that in a moment. The rest of the GPO garrison, O'Rahilly's comrades, made their way to number 5 Moore Street – Dunne's Butchers, and began tunnelling from house to house along the terrace. The following morning they wrapped the wounded the James Connolly in blankets and with great difficulty carried him through the holes they had forced in the walls to number 16 – Plunkett's, a poultry shop. It was an agonising journey for Connolly. In a small room Seán MacDiarmada, Pádraig Pearse, Joseph Plunkett, James Connolly and Tom Clarke discussed the limited options open to them, including the possibility of rushing the British Army barricade on Parnell Street. Tom Clarke, who went to look at the situation, returned to tell his comrades that it could not succeed. The leaders came to the reluctant conclusion that surrender was the only choice open to them to avoid further loss of civilian life.Julia Grenan, Winifred Carney and Elizabeth O'Farrell had stayed throughout Easter week in the GPO. O'Farrell was now tasked with the dangerous responsibility of going to the British lines. She walked down Moore Street to the British barricade and was brought from there to Tom Clarke's shop in Parnell Street where the British Army General William Lowe insisted that he would only accept unconditional surrender. A short time later Pádraig Pearse, accompanied by Elizabeth O'Farrell, and wearing his military overcoat and hat, left the Moore Street headquarters of the Provisional government to meet the British General. This meeting occurred on Parnell St opposite Moore St and close to where the Kingfisher Cafe now is. In the original photograph taken of that meeting only Nurse O'Farrell's feet can be seen and in many of the reproductions since then they were airbrushed out. Another example of women being airbrushed out of our history.Shortly after 4.30pm the republican garrison left their Moore Street HQ and marched to the Gresham Hotel where they were searched before being taken to the Green in front of the Rotunda Hospital in Parnell Street. This then is Moore Street. A hugely important part of our history.
Welcome to the Technology podcast, podcast 335. On this edition, we do talk about a few things including security, transportation, and braille, but in a different light. Translation software was talked about in the talk, but nothing too specific. Here are the topics. On our first segment, Trend Micro's 2019 report and 2020 predictions. I talk about the numbers and what sticks out with me. Incidently, the webinar that they'll do this month is dealing with the predictions for 2020. I'll blog about that after I get a chance to read the email. If you want to read my blog post about the threat report and predictions please go to the blog post entitled: Question: Are we looking for more or less threats this year and if so what kind? from blog The Technology blog and podcast and it links to the article in question. On the second segment, we talk about the automated voice announcement system. Every bus here is supposed to call stops and every train is to call stops too. While it is technology, and it fails, the failure is also within the drivers. It has to work both ways, and my talk which will be presented on Thursday, January 16th, at an Accessibility Awards Luncheon will talk about this. At some point, we must have drivers and passengers work together to get passengers to where they need to go safely. How is it for you in your area? How is the AVA specifically for you? Lets talk! Finally, the canute 360 is discussed. This blog post which was posted on the 10th talks about where to go and links to Blind Bargains. I attended this forum, and what I learned was quite interesting. I didn't stay long for the questions and answers, but the presentation was quite interesting. Its supposed to be made available for listening at some point. I do want to catch this so I can take the time to listen to the rest of the questions in case there is something else I can learn. Finally, what is coming up on future podcasts and contact information. I hope you will enjoy the program as much as I have putting it together for you. I look forward in hearing from you! email/imessage tech at menvi.org text/whats app 804-442-6975 If you have other social media, you can use that. Relationships As I work with men and women, and their spouses, I find that one of the biggest issues that comes up is how pornography use affects their relationships. one thing that I often see and one thing that happened in my own relationship was that my wife thought that for her to be happy she needed to control me and my pornography use. If you haven't read that story go back to my blog and check out the one titled, “My wife used sex as a way to try and control me and I wanted her to” Lots of wives and husbands do this to varying degrees, especially when their spouse isn't behaving in a way that they want. This is the rules part of all our relationships. We have all these expectations of how our relationships should be. As I have learned and grown from a pornography user and now as a coach, something that each of us has to learn is that our relationships are just one thing. They are our thoughts about another person. If you have ever had a boss you can't stand but someone else loves them, you know what I am talking about, even if you have never thought about it this way. Another good example of this is our ward bishops. They can be figures that are beloved by almost everyone, but there are some that we just don't get along with. And we also have ideas about who they should be and how they should behave. As an example of how we think people aught to behave, When I was a young man I attended a youth conference where there happened to be a tv on in the lobby showing some Saturday night live reruns. In my house we had never been allowed to watch SNL because my parents had opinions about it. But there, in that lobby I saw a member of our stake presidency Julian Breillatt watching and laughing at SNL. Now, being the know it all teenager I was, I said something about how I was surprised he was watching it. and he responded that he loved SNL and thought it was very funny. Incidently, a number of years later, this same good man was the temple sealer who married my wife and i. My thoughts about what a member of the stake presidency should and shouldn't watch were a manual of sorts for this man. But at that moment, I learned that I didn't have to believe everything I thought about how others should behave. I could just let people behave without having to judge them as fulfilling some arbitrary set of rules that I thought. Our relationships with others depend solely on our thoughts about that person. What I thought about president briellatt watching snl could have been that he was a bad person and that I would never value anything he ever said again as a spiritual leader. Or, as was the case, I didn't take his behavior to mean anything other than he was a man, doing the best he could. And when it came time for him to officiate in our wedding, I was happy to have a man who had been part of my life for many years there to officiate. When it comes to spouses, this same lesson can and, I'll say, probably should, be applied for the sake of everyone's happiness. Specifically, when it comes to pornography use, oftentimes, I find that spouses feel it is their duty to hold their loved one to a certain standard. And when that standard hasn't been met, they are to punish, cajole, withhold affection from and judge the other party. So, in my relationship with darcy, I know that my relationship with her depends on my thoughts about her. My thoughts about her depend on my expectations of her and how well she meets those expectations. I also can't have “love” for her, but that I have loving thoughts about her. Because, as we know, our emotions and feelings are generated by our thoughts. So, when I think about her lovingly, I feel love. I also know that I can't be mad at her. I only have thoughts that create the feeling of being mad. I make me mad. Just like when I used pornography, she, her thoughts, were what made her mad.

Our main event this week is Rob's review of Uncharted 4, a game he was looking forward to so much that he missed the recording of last week's podcast rather than miss playing it for an hour! With anticipation through the roof, what will Rob make of Nathan Drake's final adventure? But before we get onto that, we need to fill you in on the week's news! Disney is ceasing production of Infinity for good; the NX will apparently be like neither the WiiU or the 3DS; Mass Effect Andromeda has been delayed until 2017; and Star Trek Online is coming to consoles! All that plus news about the Overwatch Beta from last week, Modern Warfare Trilogy, Pokken Tournament, Street Fighter 5, and the upcoming slate of video game movies that we have to "look forward" to. Then, it's not all Uncharted 4 in "What Have We Been Playing," there's also talk of Destiny, Galak-Z, Starcraft 2 and Dead Star. But let's be honest, you're only here for Rob talking about Uncharted 4. Incidently, you may be wondering why this episode's title isn't Uncharted 4 related in any way. There's a reason for that, but to find out you'll just have to listen to this week's episode of the award-wanting Gamecentral Podcast! Thursday, Russ and I interviewed author D.K. Christi. her book, "Ghost Orchid" is being reissued October 31st and she was eager to talk about it. Not knowing anything about orchids, Russ and I were astounded at her knowledge of the Ghost Orchid, it's mysticism, history and beliefs. In all a fun conversation and extremely informative. Incidently, "Ghost Orchid" is a great read!
Sarah, this one is for you! Safe travel. We shall miss Bear and are expecting to be kept informed of its future Catalonian adventures.. Incidently we will miss you as well.. For the Barcelona bound Sarah & Bear: a vocal, beachy, breeezy, groovy and sometimes deep set. Beffiting the occasion of your going away.. with schadenfreunde, lots of sugar but also a dollop of spices and a dash of tears. Initially mixed in Russia but recompiled here to fit the occasion andgive the new KOT " I Need to Love Me" the lead of the set... Current tunes but with a couple of oldies, ranging from Deep jams to Nu-Disco.. Some purists will pass on this one but rest assured that it is a very worked set with happy tunes and sun-rays all along.. 2011 I Need To Love Me (Sandy Rivera's Club Mix [w/Mr. V & DJ Roland Clark Accapellas]. Kings of Tomorrow feat. April 2010 Subconscious Part Two (Strobe Remix) [W/ Mr. V It’s About You sample]. Samantha James 2011 Silence (Seb Skalski's Flute Mix). Shane D feat. Kerry Wood 2011 I'll Take You There (Tony Loreto & Jacko 'Italian Foundation' Remix) [w/DJ Roland Clark Soul Meditation Accapella]. Frankie Knuckles pres. Director's Cut feat. Jamie Principle 2009 Can You Feel it (Casio Social Club remix). Jake Island Ft. Alec Sun Dre 2007 The Cure & the Cause (Dj Meme Philly Suite Mix). Fish Go Deep feat. Tracey K 2011 Come On (Original Mix) [w/Cure & The Cause acapella & Mr. V It’s About Yousamples] . Dave Mayer 2011 Funky Like That (Original Mix). Dave Mayer & DJ Roland Clark 2010 Something (Original Dubstrumental) [Tales of The Deep Xtian Edit] . Alias Rhythm Feat Sandy Spady 2010 Headed In The Right Direction (Scott Wozniak Soundcould Remix). India Arie 2008 Quiero Saber (RV's Mood). Benji Candelario 2008 In My Mind (Afro Soul mix). Sasha Alazy feat. Mel 2011 In It Together (Director's Cut Signature Togetherness Mix). Human Life 2011 Take Me Back (Sandy Rivera's Original Mix). Kings Of Tomorrow feat. April Highlights: I reordered (remixed) the whole set to present you with the newest release of KOT " I need to Love Me" as I thought it ought to open the set in case some of you only stream the first 5' ( how dare you? ;). Fantastic track and Sandy Rivera is now back in full force. The classic Frankie Knuckles/J. Principle "I'll take you there" was in my bag for a while but I was waiting for the right remix to include it ( Frankie Knuckles...another one having a good year). "The Cure & The Cause" included because it is one of my favourtie tracks for the past 5 years and I was listening to a fab set from C&M whilst travelling and thought it was high time to revisit the DJ Meme remix. More current "In It Together" from Human life, the club hit of the 2011 summer, Knuckles' remix, what more can be said.. And "Take Me Back" Sandy Rivera feat. April to bring the set to a close in a nice loop with the intro tune. Enjoy, might be too vocal, too commercial, too beach for some House afficionados but perfectly filtting for Sarah's going away and was what came out of the bag in the second week of my Russian trip..
Yep, another trip down memory lane, this time with Simon Jackson and Nick Johnstone. The idea was to guage peoples opinions of the "evil" papparazzi after "what they did" to Princess Diana and Dodi AlFayed. It instead gave us such memorable catchphrases as "it's like bolting the door after the horse has gone" and "if you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem". OK, you probably needed to be there, but it's a funny walk down that lane!! Incidently this also marked my first attempt at producing, think it turned out ok!
I would like to apologize for the lack of sound effects in this episode. This is a sneak peek at the movie that's put us up against a wall for the past few months (in a good way). Incidently this is also the first official unveiling of the final title. It truly is a labor of love.
