When you think of Wales three things come to mind, rugby, rolling green hills and iolo Williams in worryingly short shorts. For those that don't know iolo he is currently one of the main presenters for the hit BBC nature show spring watch and has also appeared in many other programmes including rugged Wales, great welsh parks and welsh language programmes for S4C. Iolo also isn't shy to stand for nature from raptor persecution to egg collectors he's a vocal activist for the natural world. Today we talk about what wildlife encapsulates Wales, starting out with the watches and how surprisingly egg collecting still goes on today. One of the obvious things with iolo is how much of a all rounder he is whether its birds, mammals, plants whatever they'll be something he's deeply interested in. The first in our Lockdown Lives was BBC natural history presenter Iolo Williams. Iolo is a good friend of Raptor Aids and is a massive fan of birds of prey, his favourite being the Hen harrier which he still finds time to monitor. Before ending up on our TV screens Iolo worked for the RSPB across Wales as the species protection officer for 15 years. This means Iolo is perfectly positioned to discuss conservation on the sharp end and he's certainly not one to mince his words. Best known for his presenting on popular programs such as the BBC Springwatch and Autumnwatch series he is always great value with plenty of humour. http://iolowilliams.co.uk/
We talk to Iolo Williams about raptor persecution and the wildlife found in Wales. We also discuss and Iolo answers questions on how he ended up as a wildlife presenter, his favourite wildlife encounter, the effects of cats and pheasants on wildlife, Mya Bambricks plan to get more wildlife habitat in schools, where to look…
So, what's it like round here? The unheard, unbelievable true story of a girl called Maya; forever thirteen, forever on the move. Funny, fearless and frightening, Transporter explores themes of identity, difference, conflict, and what it means to come or not come from somewhere.Transporter tells the story of Maya, a girl who is constantly on the move. We meet Maya as she stands on the threshold of a new house in an ordinary city. From this everyday moment an epic story is woven, spanning decades and continents. Maya - forever thirteen - is both ordinary and extraordinary; schoolgirl, time traveller, shaman. Tales of classroom conflicts, flights across deserts, ice cream dreams and thwarted revolutions weave together, and the local and the global the personal and political collide. In a year that witnessed the Grenfell Tower fire, an unprecedented rise in homeless families in the UK, and entire populations on the move, together we considered the questions: What does home mean? Is there a safe place left on Earth? How do we navigate our way through a world that appears to be in ruins?Written and performed by Catherine Dyson, in collaboration with Andy Smith and Lewis Gibson. Developed through Theatr Iolo's artist development programme, Platfform, Transporter was born out of conversations with young people from the city of Newport, South Wales.

Throughout the productΓÇÖs life cycle, he maintained its status as the top seller in its category, dominating 80% of the marketplace.
