When my guest Jed Jurchenko first got married, he assumed everything would go wonderfully because, well...that's how it's supposed to work, right? Little did he know he was in for a total train wreck. Emerging from that rocky first marriage, Jed sought to understand how to build a relationship around mutual trust, a sane mindset and solid communication skills. Indeed, it's not that couples won't ever disagree, but what is the best way to handle conflict when it arises? Well, for starters you'll discover the number one best philosophy for virtually eliminating hateful, spiteful arguments...and it might not be what you think. What's the best way to effectively resolve an argument, and how exactly do you know when it has indeed been resolved? What are examples of 'atomic bombs' that should be avoided at all costs during relational conflict? If you have a long history of being 'Mr. Nice Guy' in relationships, what are the ramifications of that? And how can you proactively guard against future arguments even as you go about your day-to-day relationship? What is the golden secret that makes arguing virtually impossible? Is it really all about communication, or is there a more foundational element that must be addressed first? Just for good measure, you'll hear the powerful phrase that really gets to the heart of the matter when things get crazy. Why do women resort to nagging their men, anyway? And obviously, we'd be remiss if we didn't talk about COVID-induced stress. 2020 is still rolling on. How are you doing? Take control over your 'new normal'. You can do so by talking to me free for 25-minutes. Schedule at https://mountaintoppodcast.com === HELP US SEND THE MESSAGE TO GREAT MEN EVERYWHERE === We'll keep the solid, actionable content coming...all for free. The authors [of the book, The Aladdin Factor, by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen] also make it clear that there is no formula for 100% asking success. And they [successful people] ask over and over again. My favorite takeaway from the book is the formula SW x4.” Let’s find out together what Jed has to say about asking for what we need. “Asking gives other people an opportunity to help. When we ask, we give others the opportunity to say Yes! When we ask, there is the possibility of moving toward our goals!” And those goals will help us in our faith, family, and friendship. He didn’t deny his flaws, try to hide them, or pretend that they didn’t exist. His limp was there for the world to see. Yet, he succeeded anyway!” Jed’s curious what was on Walt’s mind when he spoke about his “kick in the teeth.” The best way to blog with a limp is to begin taking action. The first few steps are always the most difficult. Everything gets easier from there. Disney stated, “The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” Momentum is like a steam-engine. At rest, a small, slanted block, under the front tire, will hold that engine in place. However, moving at full speed, that engine will crash through most any barrier. Jed Jurchenko, a husband, father of 3 girls, therapist, seminary professor, and author, loves spending time with his family. He also enjoys reading, hiking, BBQing, mountain-biking, and beaching. At a training where he was asked to pick a superhero blogger identity, deciding on Spiderman was easy. Not only has Spiderman been Jed’s favorite since he was a kid, they have a lot in common. We both genuinely care about people; have a quirky since of humor, and most of all, spend a lot of time recovering from mistakes. One of the things Jed loves about his her is that he is an imperfect hero. This fact brings Jed hope. For example, Spiderman is famous for shooting webbing from his wrist. The only problem is that his web-shooters are continually malfunctioning. Sometimes these mishaps result in the bad guy getting away. At other times, these misfires happen while Spiderman is swinging from building to building, causing him to plummet toward the ground. These malfunctions happen quite often, leading Spiderman to become an expert at recovering from errors. Jed can relate because his life, by no means, has been mistake-free. On his Coffee Shop Conversations blog you will not find blog posts entitled “Three Steps to Having a Perfect Life Just Like Mine.” As a therapist and Christ-follower, he is well aware that people with a perfect life don’t exist.Jed helps hurting Christ-followers apply key leadership principles to their everyday lives, so that they can overcome challenges and live a joy-filled life!
