John Pirruccello Returns Again!Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know even more about John Pirruccello. In John's 3rd appearance on the show, we discuss The Mandela Effect; and some of the instances where it haunts John. Then we talk about the British playwright Patrick Marber, and some of his projects. John will be working with Partrick soon, and I pepper him with questions about it. Naturally, we talk about some of John's previous projects like: She Hulk & Twin Peaks, and john shares some behind the scenes stories involving David Lynch & David Mamet. We chat about Comicon and his experience there, and then I ask John questions about his life, some of his past experiences, and people from his past. He shares a story of trying to get in the movie The Godfather 3, and the time he spent with Father Guido Sarducci. Then we jump into some of his upcoming work. Season 3 of The Lincoln Lawyer comes out this week! John plays a prosecutor in most of the new season. He talks about playing ping pong on the set with the lead actor from the show, We do talk a bit about John's time on Mayans MC, and what a fun show that was to work on. Finally, we discuss John's role in The Sex Lives of College Girls, and his upcoming debut on The Simpsons! John and I close out the show talking about The Olympics, and the break dancing kerfuffle.

Saluton estas mi, Tyson Saner, welcoming you to Succotash Episode #347. I will be your host for the duration of this episode as it is my turn to do so. Last week in Epi346, subtitled "Clips Like a Lion", show creator and executive producer of Succotash Marc Hershon brought you a clips episode plus a little something extra. The clips featured in that episode were from the Soundcasts known as Dear Chelsea, The JTrain Podcast, and Two Vegan Idiots. The aformentioned extra took the form of a contribution from comedian Dan St. Paul's "Slices" blog, called "Rebel Without A Phone". It was an entertaining episode that, if you were to want to listen to that as well, you absolutely could on this listening platform, or on Apple and Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Soundcloud, YouTube, Amazon Music, Audible, iHeart Radio, PodBay, Podchaser, and, as always, on our homesite at SuccotashShow.com…this is provided, of course, that you found us somewhere other than those previously mentioned platforms. This week in Epi347 I have clips for you as well, and they are from the soundcasts How Did This Get Made, Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, and Nooner Podcast. It's extremely likely that you will also be encountering a classic advertisement from our longtime fake sponsor Henderson's Pants with an oh-so-apropos ad for their "Hooray for Hollywood pants somewhere later in the episode as well. CLIPS How Did This Get Made? We have featured clips from How Did This Get Made and soundcasts featuring those involved with it several times over the last almost 12 years. The most recent time was actually not all that recent though, in fact it was way back at the end of December of 2021 in Episode 284 subtitled "Clip The Halls" which is, of course in our archive were you to want to hear that sooner than later. Featuring hosts Paul Scheer, June Diane Raphael, and Jason Mantzoukas, our clip is from February 23rd of this year where the hosts break down, coincidentally (or is it?), the thriller "The Number 23" starring Jim Carrey. They discuss all the bonkers names—from Topsy Kretts to Fingerling to Sirius Leary—the protagonist who hates dogs, Walter Sparrow's sanity, Bud Cort's crazy room, the son's childish mug gift, Danny Huston's villainous vibe, and Chekhov's Saxophone. Plus, they ask "At the beginning is Jim Carrey basically playing Ace Ventura?" And Paul reveals his theory that maybe Walter Sparrow's dog bite gave him rabies. Is Paul right? Crack the code! Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum This soundcast has been featured once before, back in the end of February 2019, in Episode 188, which Marc hosted in my stead while I was quite busy navigating life with my at-the-time newborn son Jareth. (This was back when the episodes typically featured 6 clips each and were not guaranteed to post with the regularity that they have been since around April of 2020 with our Succotash Shut-In phase of this program.)  In case you hadn't heard that episode, or don't know of Inside of You, the show description reads: "I'm Michael Rosenbaum, I've spent the better part of the last two decades in and out of film and television - mostly known for playing the bald dude on the show Smallville. I'm the guy that you probably don't know by name, but when you see my face you might say “oh, that guy from that thing.” I've befriended some of the most talented people in the business, but it wasn't until I started inviting them into my home that I realized, I didn't really know these people. What started as me having some fun, quickly evolved into something I've fallen in love with. What I've discovered is that all these people aren't that different from you and me. They have the same insecurities and flaws that we all deal with every day. In a dark, yet enlightening way…I find a lot of comfort in that. I invite you all to join me while I get inside each of these fascinating people." Our clips hails from September 6th of last year, and features guest Wil Wheaton (Stand By Me, Star Trek: TNG, Big Bang Theory), who shares his brave story of coming to grips with the trauma of his childhood, breaking the cycle so it doesn't carry on to future generations, and understanding that part of his healing process may lead to a lifetime split from his family. Nooner Really what can be said about Nooner Podcast that hasn't already been? The show started with Dan Etheridge and Marty Yu hosting from Kevin Smith's living room way back in 2011 with their 1st guest Martin Starr. (It's a soundcast that is ALMOST as old as Succotash itself!) Since it started, the show has had some lineup changes whose personalities include, but are not limited to, Stephen Kruger, Bill Watterson, Emily O'Hara (or O'Hare?  I don't know and it is extremely difficult to find information about her, but I did not hallucinate her…) Giselle Nett, John Pirruccello, Cassandra Cardenes, and John Sylvain. These are the most frequent co-hosts. Other folks who co-hosted more than once — and may I remind you that I am going from memory — include Scott Marvel Cassidy and Vivian Martinez.   I have been listening to and contributing to the show in some way or another since the beginning, including music and live #tumblr ing which becomes harder to explain as time goes by. They are a nice group of people who have been very morally and creatively supportive of me over the years, so featuring them occasionally in place of perhaps a soundcast that I've never heard before seems reasonable to me. With that in mind, this clip is from the end of January this year, Ep: "Babylon Is the Worst First Date". Hosts Marty and John talk nonsense, but just fast forward to hear the funny MIRP, Cassandra, talk about why weddings are bullshit and why Babylon is like disappointing sex. And that brings us more-or-less neatly to the end of this episode of "Succotash". I do hope you found something interesting and/or enjoyable in the last half hour or so of content. It's Oscar day as I write this, and will likely be Oscar night as I am recording this. I'm rooting for "Everything, Everywhere, All at Once" to win best picture. It's been nominated for 11 Oscars, and I hope they win nearly all of them. I say "Nearly" because one of the categories they've been nominated for is "Best Song", and although I'm sure that the Son Lux/Mitski/David Byrne song "This is a life" from E2A2O is perfectly fine, "Naatu Naatu" from "RRR" is also nominated, and that song is AWESOME. To be fair, I haven't listened to "This is a life" that closely…certainly not to the degree that I've heard "Naatu Naatu"…(sigh)…ok, I will be right back, I'm going to give the E2A2O song a closer listen. (pause)  Ok, I have listened to it closely. I absolutely grok it.…But I still really want "Naatu Naatu" to win. At the very least, I hope to enjoy seeing the Oscar performance of "Naatu Naatu" later on YouTube. Assuming that there is an Oscar performance of "Naatu Naatu" planned…and why wouldn't there be?  As I mentioned before, it is AWESOME.   And so are you, for listening. The next episode will be hosted by Mr. Hershon, and it will most likely be numbered #348. We are sailing along to our 12 year anniversary of this show, and will see you when we get there, one way or another. Thank you for listening, be decent to each other, and should you be out there in the world with thoughts about anything you heard in this episode, and you feel any reason to share that information with other people, we'd appreciate that a great deal. It's what we mean when we ask you to PLEASE…Pass The Succotash. — Tyson Saner

Episode 309 - Special Guest:  John Pirruccello   The Buzzards are big fans of the acting profession and we're especially fond of character actors...the best kind. It's even better when those people are even cooler in real life.   Take the career of John Pirruccello. He started out doing voiceover work for TV and radio commercials, video games, cartoons and movies. He leads a weekly improv group while also performing in sketch comedies, theater and television and movie roles. He also did stand-up all around Los Angeles. On stage he was in Horton Foote's (Best Screenplay Oscars for To Kill a Mockingbird, Tender Mercies) play Harrison, Texas. Davdi Mamet caught that and went on to cast him in many roles including in his HBO movie Phil Spector. He also worked with Mamet's daughter, Clara Mamet, in a play and a film. He was in the third season of David Lynch's Showtime series "Twin Peaks" and in the hit HBO sitcoms "Barry" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and was in the bigbudget feature film Godzilla vs. Kong.   He has also had an extraordinary life outside of the entertainment world.  He was a cab driver, has a degree in Italian, was a military brat as a youngster and has lived in many places including San Antonio, TX, Northern Virginian, Southern Vermont, Amherst, MA, Siena, Italy, San Francisco and Los Angeles. One of the more important jobs he does is volunteer to help children with special needs. He has a unique approach from his acting training that allows young people to be heard, be confident and be focused.   So, wipe off your grease paint, take a hot bath, wrap yourself in some warm pajamas and relax with a glass of wine while Nate, George and Roger get to hear the skinny on all things acting, Mamet, teaching children, and what happens when you hang out with Helen Mirren on this episode of FIVE DOLLAR BUZZ.   And remember, please, hit "like" for this episode and "subscribe" to our channels on our current platforms; YouTube, iTunes and Spotify. Yes, ‘tis I, Marc Hershon. Happy holidays and welcome to Epi122 of Succotash, the Comedy Podcast Podcast. I’m back with another edition of Succotash Clips, the version of this podcast where we feature clips, snippets, and bits from comedy podcasts harvested from all around the Internet. Special thanks, as always, to our Associate Producer, Tyson Saner, for going out and getting many of the offerings to be found in this installment.  I hope you find at least one new show that you’d like to track down and download after listening to our little Whitman’s Sampler of a show. Coming up this episode we have slices off of Comic Book Jones, The David Steinberg Podcast, The Eisenstein Effect, The Gisele Show, The GSMH Podcast, Proudly Resents, Sweet Feathery Jesus, and Wooden Overcoats. What Else We Got? In addition to the clippage, we’ve got our Burst O’ Durst segment with political comedian and social commentator Will Durst, where he’s running down the Top 10 comedic news stories of 2015 for you. This episode is sponsored by Henderson's Pants seasonal Jingle Drawers. And we’ve also got your tweets and emails and reviews in the Tweetsack. And that’s about it. But isn’t that enough, really? Clips David Steinberg PodcastFunny how younger comics have, for the most part, paved the way for older comics to make their way into podcasting. The great David Steinberg is now jumping in, even though he’s mainly been busy writing and directing television for years. He started out as an improvisor and a standup. In fact, he was one of my comedy influencers back when I was first figuring out what made something funny. The guest in his second episode is Kathy Griffin and, even though David is a great conversationalist, with Kathy in the room you don’t really have to try that hard to keep the chatter going.   Wooden OvercoatsIf you’re a fan of British comedies, particularly the sitcom kind, there’s a podcast out that just wrapped up its 8-show, first season run that doesn’t miss a beat. It’s called Wooden Overcoats, created by David K. Barnes, and features a fantastic cast that really bring the characters to life. “Wooden overcoat” is slang for “coffin” and the premise of the show is that the only undertaker in a sleepy Channel island village is bent out of shape when a rival sets up shop. There’s intrigue, violence, romance, and a narrating mouse. The Gisele Show Podcast, mit Friends! You might know Gisele Nett from her gig co-hosting the Nooner podcast on SModcast Internet Radio with Marty Yu. She’s started her own, entitled The Gisele Show Podcast, mit Friends! There are a pile of cast people, too: Jonna Tamases, John Pirruccello, Jon Stahl, and Gena Key. Tyson clipped this from her very first episode, featuring guest comedian Cassandra Cardenes. GSMH (God-Shaped Mommy Hole)I’m not sure how our associate producer Tyson Saner finds some of these shows. Which is precisely why he’s as good as he is as our top clip clipper! Thanks to him we bring you a snippet of the GSMH Podcast, the initials of which stand for God-Shaped Mommy Hole. Headed up by a dude named Toni Rager, it’s a bunch of friends, just hanging out. There’s also Louis, Tim, Clicks and Freiddo, plus Rubbi Rager, but her mic was dead this episode. This clip features an interview technique with the acronym FORD, and some of the gang tries to explains to the rest of the gang who Joe Rogan is. Proudly ResentsThis clip comes in directly from the source: Adam Spiegelman. Friend of Succotash, as well as past and, no doubt, future guest, Adam is the host of the Proudly Resents podcast. It had grown into kind of a mishmash of content and Adam was having a tough time figuring out what his own podcast was supposed to be. But in his note to me this week, he says that he has, “finally split up my podcast.” Meaning he’s got different bits and pieces but they’re all making sense. He says he got recaps, interviews, Nicko – his sometimes sidekick, and “The best of the worst Christmas movies.” He recently did a live “Saving Christmas” show at the Improv in Hollywood, with Jimmy Pardo, Todd Levin (a writer for Conan), and Sharon Houston, who is a podcaster and TV producer in the same vein as Adam. Sweet Feathery JesusWe’ve not played anything for quite a while from the boys over at the Sweet Feathery Jesus podcast – Belasco, Beardo and Chuck Turtleman – so let’s correct that now with a segment from their show. This clip is from their #111, entitled On The Wagon Train, because their fourth cast member, Booze, is absent. It features an installment of their segment Denmark Is Shit. The Eisenstein EffectComedian Vickie Eisenstein hosts The Eisenstein Effect, which is – according to her homesite – “a weekly jaunt to explore the careers, hobbies, and passions of funny, artistic, talented, and intelligent guests!” I think she’s based in Chicago, so she’s got access to lots of like-minded comedic types. Including the guest in Epi23 of her show, Anthony LeBlanc. Comic Book JonesThere’s a comic book store in Staten Island, New York, a legendary place on Forest Avenue, called Comic Book Jones. It also happens to be the name of their podcast, hosted by proprietors Socko and Tiger Jones. They’ve been podcasting since Fall of 2012 and they’re still going strong with their special brand of geek chatter and comic book mayhem. And, at least around Thanksgiving, talk about disgusting White Castle Thanksgiving sliders. Great Gift Ideas! If you’re looking for something special for that someone special, might I suggest you visit our homesite, at http://SuccotashShow.com, where you can use the Amazon banner at the top of our page to slide over to the world’s biggest online store. Every time you purchase something there after using out link to get there, we get a little taste of the purchase price, but at no cost to you. You can also shop at our Succotashery, if that special someone would like something with our show logo on it. And if WE’RE your someone special, you can click the Donate button in the upper right hand corner of the page and slip us some delicious cash to help us keep Succotash alive in 2016! That’s going to do it for Epi122 of Succotash Clips, the Comedy Podcast Podcast. Hopefully I’ll get another episode or two out before the end of the year. No special plans for a year-end show but you never know – maybe I’ll whip something up. I know this time of year gets busy but feel free to take Succotash along while you’re Christmas shopping or heading off to visit friends and family this holiday season. And while you out there visiting, don’t be afraid to pass a little Succotash! — Marc Hershon

The question of the week on MEN ARE PEOPLE TOO is "Do you remember the first time you wanted a girl to be your girlfriend?" Reminiscent of the "She will be mine, oh yes." From Wayne's World. Do you remember? Today's Guests: Barry Schwartz, Mike LaFeevre, John Pirruccello, Peter Hyoguchi, Steve Benaquist
