Actor Dean Norris sits down with host Frank Mackay on this episode of The Frank Mackay Show!
No señor. Nunca he visto nada parecido, es brillante. Saludos, Tony Hopkins --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/epistolar/support

As Melanie and I prepared for this episode one question kept coming up ... Who is the protagonist? Melanie argues that the entire family is the protagonist, but I think that Olive (who is the Little Miss Sunshine contestant) is the protagonist. It's an interesting question and our discussion about it is even more interesting. On this episode of California Now Podcast, host Soterios Johnson welcomes celebrated character actor and longtime Temecula resident Dean Norris. During their conversation—available on both audio and video platforms—Norris discusses his latest projects, including his work on Ghosts and Law and Order: Organized Crime. He also shares a memorable anecdote from his time filming with Arnold Schwarzenegger, recalling, “He was so cool that when the camera was on his closeup, he'd have a cigar down here while the camera was going. It was awesome.” Norris then discusses the joys of owning the Swing Inn Cafe and BBQ in Old Town Temecula, a nostalgic neighborhood joint that dates back to 1927. He recounts the story of how he acquired the cafe and his decision to introduce barbecue to the menu. “I found a great pitmaster who makes just really legendary stuff,” Norris notes. “We have people from Texas that come in and say, ‘This is legit.'” The actor goes on to highlight some of his favorite menu items, including the slow-cooked brisket and his signature Shraderbräu beer, along with other Breaking Bad–themed cocktails. Finally, Norris calls out some of his go-to Temecula wineries, golf courses, and one uniquely local nightlife spot. “You can line dance and hear some country music... it's a very Temecula experience to hang out at the Stampede.” Norris ends the episode by taking the California Questionnaire, offering his takes on the best ways to play, splurge, and road-trip around the Golden State.

Actor Dean shares how his early obsession with saving money molded his successful acting career. Way before he landed the role of Hank on Breaking Bad, he understood the critical importance of living within his means so that he could continue to pursue acting. Money can offer freedom, but it requires a delicate dance of respect and control, especially in a career that's as unpredictable as acting. That's when Stella, Auggie, and Chuck hop in the car of Ramon, a mysterious drifter who has come to their town to escape the draft. Afterwards, the four make their way to a dilapidated home on the edge of town that once belonged to the wealthy Bellows family, who mysteriously disappeared shortly after the town's titular mill shut down. The publication of Thomas Hutchinson's secret letters to London politicos outraged Massachusetts citizens, as Hutchinson advised the British establishment on how to suppress colonial dissent and insulted those who disagreed with British policy. Ultimately, when it was learned that Benjamin Franklin had leaked the letters, Franklin's reputation was ruined in England, and he became an undisputed revolutionary. But how did Franklin get the secret letters? Jeremy Bell, author of three books on William Hogarth, joins us to unravel this 250-year old mystery, and tell us about Franklin as an associate of Sir Francis Dashwood and other members of the "Hell-Fire Club" one of many stories that Jeremy weaves in "Ben Franklin's Sit-down Walking Tour of Boston," at the Bell in Hand. He shares some of this, as well as other enduring questions, and tells us his own favorite dramatic portrayal of Franklin, was in "Sons of Liberty," with Dean Norris from "Breaking Bad" as "Bad Ass Ben."

The Equalizer Season 3 Episode 11: Christmas Presence Aired on CBS: December 16, 1987 Directed by: Michael O'Herlihy Written by : Coleman Luck Featuring: Jacqueline Brookes, Corey Carrier, Don McManus, Dean Norris (!) Possibly the most very special episode in the entire run of the show, the Equalizer (aka Mr. Manhattan) and Harley Gage have to protect a boy who has AIDS from some very concerned dads in the neighborhood. Because this is The Equalizer, instead of civilized community discourses these dads opt for smoke bombs, animal masks, and kniving furniture. Kudos to the show, there weren't many TV shows addressing this topic in the 80s; and despite the cartoonish bad guys, the show's viewpoint holds up pretty well, especially compared to other shows. Also it's a bona fide Christmas episode and the first appearance of Pete's, McCall's favorite restaurant. The specialness lives on through the years to make this a very special podcast episode. @equalizerspod equalizerspodcast at gmail dot com
