In this episode, the discussion revolves around the rules of wearing multiple layers of clothing on Shabbat, particularly focusing on the wearing of belts and other garments. The key point explored is whether wearing one belt over another is allowed, with different opinions on whether a separation between belts is required. The podcast also touches on specific garments like the *gartel* (a belt worn for prayer), and how its status can change depending on whether it is worn with an overgarment. The rules around carrying keys in a belt on Shabbat are examined, highlighting the need for a separation between the belt used to hold pants up and a belt used for keys. The podcast further explores wearing hats, gloves, and even *talit* (prayer shawls) on Shabbat, and how certain garments, even if not fully in accordance with halacha, are still permitted to be worn.

Today's Song of the Day is "Never Let You Go" from Overcoats's album, Winner, out April 7th.
----- Rajinder Singh Bedi adapted Nikolai Gogol's short story, The Overcoat into Garam Coat and then further wrote a screenplay for a film by the same name. In his adaptation, Bedi moved quite far from the original, only taking the coat as a leitmotif. While Gogol's story revolves around a man's desire for a new coat, Garam Coat, the short story is a poignant story of a man who struggles between his own needs and his longing to fulfill his family's desires. The movie version, starring Balraj Sahani goes a few steps further and explores the ups and downs in the protagonist's married life. ----- Rajinder Singh Bedi was a pillar of the Progressive Writers Movement. After the partition he moved to Bombay where he made his mark as a dialogue writer, screenplay writer and director. He wrote dialogues for several of Hindi film classics including Mirza Ghalib, Devdas, Abhiman, Garam Coat, Daag, Anupama etc. He also directed Phagun, Dastak etc. #hindistory #hindikahaniya #rahindersinghbedi #progressivewriters #urdukahaniyan #afsane --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/storyjam/message

I saw the trailer. It's fair. 0:08 - The internet just couldn't wait to spoil a Rescue Rangers character cameo (don't worry, I don't spoil it because I'm considerate like that) 18:35 - Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is double featuring with a movie that I've already seen and didn't particularly like 26:07 - Disney dropped the first trailer for She-Hulk and I have OPINIONS!!! 40:38 - I beat another copyright claim. Yay me! 43:32 - Remember the possibilities teased at the end of Predator 2? 32 years later, they're making good on them!
