On November 3, 2016, authorities found 30 year old Kala Brown handcuffed to a pipe inside a storage container on property owned by popular local real estate agent Todd Kohlepp. Kohlepp had kept the missing woman as his prisoner for 65 days. A few hundred feet away, the authorities found the buried bodies of four other missing people--and they would soon discover that Kohlepp was also responsible for an unsolved quadruple homicide nearly two decades earlier. How had this monster stayed hidden in plain sight for so long? And how many other bodies would they find? FAM! COME TO A TCO MEETUP THIS WEEK: Milwaukee: TONIGHT! Todd Kohlhepp was a successful real estate agent in upstate South Carolina. Covering his criminal past, he lied into a career that would otherwise be unavailable to him. In 2016, a US Army Veteran named Kala Brown went missing along with her boyfriend Charlie Carver. Eventually, her phone pinged at a rural 95 acre property owned by Kohlhepp. Law enforcement was stunned to discover Kala Brown chained up inside a shipping container belonging to Kohlhepp. Her boyfriend had been murdered two months earlier. Police were even more shocked when Kohlhepp admitted to 6 more unsolved murders. Todd Kohlepp was a serial killer hiding in plain sight for years.Intro music by Joe Buck YourselfHosts Heather and Dylan PackerTo support the show sign up at www.patreon.com/mountainmurderspodcast Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/mountain-murders--3281847/support.
On November 3rd, 2016, a woman by the name of Kala Brown was found chained inside of a shipping container that sat on the sprawling 95-acre property of a man named Todd Kohlhepp in rural Moore, South Carolina. She had been held against her will for 65 days. Todd Kohlhepp was a 45-year-old single man and a successful realtor who owned his own realty company. He was also an ex-con, a rapist and a serial killer.Once in custody after rescuing Kala Brown, police began to question Todd Kohlhepp, who began confessing to multiple murders, with his criminal activity beginning in 1986 in Tempe, Arizona, when he was only 15 years old. For the next 30 years, Todd claimed to have killed at least seven individuals, with four of them shot dead in 2003 in the infamous Superbike Motorsports store in Chesnee, South Carolina. The Superbike Motorsports case had been cold for over a decade. But was he to be believed? Was he just admitting to the murders for attention? Or did Todd Kohlhepp's killings go far beyond what anyone could have ever imagined?Show Notes:https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10558324/
In this week's episode, Lily tells you about the Amazon Review Killer, Todd Kohlhepp. His one survivor, Kala Brown, tells interviewers some chilling details that also helps solve a cold case.
*** VOTE VOTE VOTE! Todd Kohlhepp was convicted of murdering seven people in South Carolina between 2003 and 2016.This is a case which broke after the MWM podcast started and one we've followed very closely when it was a missing persons case. Kala Brown and Charlie “David” Carver had gone missing on August 31, 2016. As the family searched for them, Charlie’s Facebook page became active. Posing as David, Kohlhepp posted messages in response to questions by both families. Police were able to trace the phone being used to post the messages but they were unprepared for what they found. In our news section: - Twelve Tribes Sydney headquarters raided by police - Serial killer 'Cyanide' Mohan gets life in 19th murder case - Britain's most dangerous man 'kept in same glass box as Hannibal Lecter' See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Being a female leader in the food industry is hard and she shares a frustrating experience where she didn't get treated the same as male counterparts. Kala says she’s stubborn, sassy and a hard worker and knowing her own personalty is one way for her to know how and why she acts under pressure and it makes her a better employer and employee. Kala, a culinary/business graduate from the University of North Alabama, is in the culinary world serving up dishes that perhaps your Grandmother created. Kayla grew up playing competitive sports and says that helped her in the culinary industry. She says that you don’t get to quit and you have to work hard —just like it is on a sport team.
