In this hilarious and unfiltered episode of Bone to Pick Podcast, comedy legends Robert Kelly and Paul Virzi welcome a call in from comedy icon Colin Quinn for an off-the-rails, laugh-packed session of grievances, rants, and unexpected wisdom. From live plants in restaurants to overbooked airlines and absurd movie tropes, no topic is safe. Colin joins the chaos mid-show to share his signature dry wit and absurd characters, while fans send in their own "bones to pick"—including a wild tale about a vomiting child in a Chili's. This episode blends raw honesty, clever bits, and nonstop riffing in the only way these veteran comics know how. If you love stand-up comedy, inside-baseball industry talk, and comics being comics, this is a must-watch. Rowan RobertsonAt age 17, guitarist Rowan Robertson was hired by Ronnie James Dio to record the “Lock Up the Wolves” album and tour the world. His first gig was opening for Metallica, but his grand entrance was straight out of “Spinal Tap!” He joins us to discuss his time with Dio, his subsequent bands Violet's Demise (featuring singer Oni Logan), DC4 and Bang Tango. We also learn the importance of his father's and friends' unwavering belief, his current gig in the all-star Vegas production, Raiding the Rock Vault, and why Jimmy Bain endearingly called him “Mr. Vomit.”Created and Produced by Jared Tuten

In this episode of The Southern Naturalist, Dr. Bob and Dr. Aimée Thomas explore the slimy, strange, and surprisingly intelligent world of slime molds — with a special focus on the infamous Fuligo septica, also known as dog vomit slime mold. Despite its less-than-appealing nickname, this bright yellow protist is a marvel of biology.Slime molds are cosmopolitan species, meaning they can be found all over the world — from your backyard mulch pile to deep forest floors. While F. septica takes center stage, we also explore a range of other slime mold species and what they reveal about the natural world. These unique organisms have long defied easy classification. Though they're often mistaken for fungi, slime molds are actually protists — a fascinating group of life forms that blur the lines between what we think we know about cells, movement, and even behavior. We discuss how scientists use slime molds to study things like traffic flow and network optimization, how some slime molds can “solve” mazes, and how their behavior continues to baffle researchers. You'll also hear about the strange folklore that surrounds slime molds across cultures and why these humble blobs have captured the human imagination for centuries.Whether you're a slime mold skeptic or a full-blown myxomycophile, this episode is a deep dive into the gooey, brainy, and totally bizarre world of some of nature's most overlooked organisms.Follow @SoNatPodcast on Facebook and Instagram!Visit our website at https://lucec.loyno.edu/so-nat-podcast Do you have any more questions about nature? Kelbin's weekend went off the rails when a friend got sick, and Miguel's cup was filled when he got some PIPING hot tea!
Laodicea had it all—wealth, status, and success—but they were spiritually bankrupt. Jesus called them lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—complacent, self-sufficient, and blind to their need for God. They believed in a false gospel of prosperity that values health and wealth above all else. And Laodicea thought their riches made them secure. But Jesus wasn't impressed. He told them: You think you're rich, but you're poor. You think you see, but you're blind. You think you're clothed in luxury, but you're naked in my eyes. This is lukewarm Christianity exposed!

We are featuring a feed drop from a brilliant show on the RQ Network: Hi Nay. “Hi Nay” is an atmospheric, analog-style horror audio drama, featuring Folk Horror, mythology and chilling supernatural terrors in an urban setting. Hi Nay, literally translated to “Hi Mom”, follows Mari, a Filipina immigrant who lives in Toronto. Mari first gets roped into Toronto's supernatural crises after saving their neighbor Laura from being killed. From then on, she assists Detectives Donner and Murphy in dealing with supernatural threats using her upbringing as a babaylan (Shaman). Mari finds herself dealing with a multitude of supernatural issues in Toronto, tied to cursed artifacts and the sinister order behind their creation. She has a great aptitude for magic, though her abilities seem to have a price she's not forthcoming about. She calls her Nanay (mother) often and recounts her experiences over the phone. This exciting audio drama is filled with Mystery, Suspense, and most importantly, Horror. Introduction and outro by Billie Hindle. Listen to Hi Nay on The Rusty Quill website, on Acast, or wherever you get your podcasts, or learn more about Hi Nay on its official website. This week my guest is Susan Scarf Merrell, author of Shirley: A Novel, which became a major motion picture. She's also the author of A Member of the Family, and The Accidental Bond: How Sibling Connections Influence Adult Relationships. Susan teaches in the MFA in Creative Writing & Literature at the Lichtenstein Center of Stony Brook Southampton, and she is the co-creator, with the novelist Meg Wolitzer, of the BookEnds Fellowship novel revision program. Susan's essays, book reviews and short fiction have appeared in The New York Times, Newsday, The Los Angeles Review of Books, and The Washington Post. Fun fact: she brushed her hair and changed out of her sweatshirt for this interview, which inspired me to do the same! We covered: • How she first became a published author as a child • Her mother (Maggie Scarf), a psychology journalist who worked on books about Antarctica and Jane Goodall • Her alternative fantasies to writing, like being a swimmer or opening a bakery • How she was a copy editor in the right place at the right time and talked her way into a job as a research professor which eventually earned her a tenured position • The value of a what she calls a vomit draft • How a lot of the times she's working on her writing, she's not actually sitting at a desk and writing—she's baking, or walking, or swimming Connect with Susan at susanscarfmerrell.com.
