Presentation Secondary School, Kilkenny 2-0 Presentation College, Athenry Roisin Foley (50), Emily Phelan (67) Two second half goals ensured Cup success for Presentation Secondary School, Kilkenny over defending Champions Presentation College, Athenry in a sun-soaked Athlone Town AFC this afternoon (March 19). It's been some season for the Kilkenny kingpins as this victory confirmed a Cup double for the girls with their Senior crew capturing the National title five weeks ago in the same venue with six of the Junior squad involved in that showpiece. It was a case of taking their chances when they came with a sublime effort from Roisin FOLEY to open her account for Kilkenny with twenty minutes of the game remaining. Vice Captain Emily PHELAN made sure of the win three minutes from time when she saw her effort go in off the keeper. Kilkenny made the brighter start to the contest with Hannah Griffey forcing a brilliant save from Jane Brennan with 13 minutes on the clock. Towards the latter stages of the first half, it was Athenry that dominated most of the possession but just couldn't get the ball on target as the teams went in goalless at the break. Within four minutes, Kilkenny broke the deadlock with a superb set piece from Roisin FOLEY that sailed over the head of Brennan and into the top corner, leaving the Galway shot-stopper no chance. The Galway side had a great opportunity to draw level a few moments later when Niamh Kilgannon had a glancing header goal bound only for Isabelle Carroll to produce a top class save at the near post to deny the youngster. Noone, Duffy and McNamara had half chances blocked down with some solid defensive play from Presentation, Kilkenny. The killer blow for Athenry came three minutes from time when Emily PHELAN'S cross slipped through the hands of Brennan and in for Kilkenny's second of the afternoon. After the game, Presentation College manager Joe Finnerty spoke to Galway Bay FM's Mike Rafferty. == PRESENTATION SECONDARY SCHOOOL, KILKENNY | Isabelle Carroll, Anna Morrissey, Roisin Foley, Hannah Griffey, Maria Ryan, Ellie Barron, Kate Ryan, Olivia Dunphy ©, Emily Phelan ©, Meadhbh Doherty, Ellen Treacy SUBS USED | Kate Dalton for Treacy (46) Amy O'Shea for Barron (46). Introduction by Malcolm J. Pelham, Jr. Read by: Lauren Moran A Visit from St. Nicholas, a poem originally published anonymously on December 23rd 1823, tells the story of a family settling in to sleep on Christmas Eve as the father is disturbed by noises on the lawn outside. In 1837, Clement Clarke Moore claimed authorship of the poem, as it continued to be printed in the newspaper each year around Christmas. Moore, known as a professor, did not want to have his name connected with the unscholarly verse. However, upon insistence of his children, the work was included in Moore's own book of poems published in 1844. Join us for this special Pelham Place reading of A Visit from St. Nicholas - better known as 'Twas the Night Before Christmas - read by our friend, twelve year old Lauren Moran. 'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there; The children were nestled all snug in their beds; While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads; And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap, Had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap, When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash. The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow, Gave a lustre of midday to objects below, When what to my wondering eyes did appear, But a miniature sleigh and eight tiny rein-deer, With a little old driver so lively and quick, I knew in a moment he must be St. Nick. More rapid than eagles his coursers they came, And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name: "Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now Prancer and Vixen! On, Comet! on, Cupid! on, Donner and Blitzen! To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall! Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!" As leaves that before the wild hurricane fly, When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky; So up to the housetop the coursers they flew With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too— And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof The prancing and pawing of each little hoof. As I drew in my head, and was turning around, Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound. He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot, And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot; A bundle of toys he had flung on his back, And he looked like a pedler just opening his pack. His eyes—how they twinkled! his dimples, how merry! His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry! His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow, And the beard on his chin was as white as the snow; The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth, And the smoke, it encircled his head like a wreath; He had a broad face and a little round belly That shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly. He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf, And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself; A wink of his eye and a twist of his head Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread; He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk, And laying his finger aside of his nose, And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose; He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight— “Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!” *A Visit From St. Nicholas, by Dr. Clement C. Moore, is a work in the Public Domain.

On today's episode, I'm chatting with Lauren Moran, the baker, co-founder and Chief Product Officer for Eastern Standard Provisions, a Boston-based gourmet pretzel company. In my interview with Lauren, we talk all about: How you make pretzels Different ways you can eat pretzels – yes, she shares her favorite pretzel pairings, recipes using pretzels and even some ideals for pretzel-based desserts We also talk about what it's like to run a gourmet pretzel company in the midst of a pandemic and her biggest advice to aspiring food entrepreneurs. Lauren Moran is a talented artist who has made her impact to the wrestling scene with her incredible portrait of one Becky Lynch. Darnell and Lauren talk about her love for art, Star Wars, her relationship with her family and being a queer woman in a male dominated nerd world.
This week, Danielle and Lindsey are joined by Darnell Mitchell. He’s one of the heads behind the Brooklyn-based wrestling promotion Uncanny Attraction. Like any respectable wrestling organization, Uncanny Attraction will be in Tampa Bay on WrestleMania week (April 2nd at 11PM). He’s also ready to announce the show’s main event: Effy vs. AEW’s Sunny Kiss! Tickets are going to be available soon! Darnell will tell us all about what it was like to go from a fan to a professional in the industry, which independent wrestlers and promotions he’s most excited to see and why so many wrestlers need to step up their suit game. The Main Event Tessa Blanchard was known across the international wrestling scene as someone whose star was only going to burn brighter. She’s been a champion in multiple organizations, including the current World Champion of Impact. But in the midst of her greatest accomplishment, word has come out from multiple wrestlers that Tessa has a history of being a bully and a racist. It’s a lot to take in, but we share our reactions. The Three Count Darnell put over artist Lauren Moran and the MV Young No Ring Death Match Extravaganza Lindsey put over this week’s episode of NXT, especially the debut of Mercedes Martinez. Podcaster and longtime New Yorker Elana Levin is here to talk about the 1979 semi-sci fi classic street gang film, The Warriors. NYC geography as plot element, the importance of branding to street warfare, the real New York versus the mythical/cinematic New York, and what people miss about costuming (not just in this film, but in comics too). We also talked about the idea of a Warriors comic, and Elana wants me to add Ronald Wimberly as a candidate for writer/artist, which I totally agree with. New INTO IT art by Lauren Moran.
