With most of the highly attractive late-stage assets already scooped up, pharmas are turning their sights to Phase II companies, and lining up their case to make an attractive offer and move fast. About 40% of the M&A deals in 2023-24 were completed in less than six weeks, from approach to announcement, according to Lazard's data. A legal team representing the family of Caitríona Lucas has given the government two weeks to pay legal costs the family must meet following the inquest into her death. The 41-year-old mother of two and Coast Guard volunteer died after the Kilkee Coast Guard Delta rigid inflatable boat (RIB) she was on capsized while searching for a man who was missing in September 2016. Catríona was the first Irish Coast Guard volunteer to die on duty. Her family's legal team has called the state's delay in covering these costs “inordinate and unacceptable.” To discuss this further, Alan Morrissey was joined by Marine Expert acting on behalf of the Lucas family, Michael Kingston.
