Sony Corp's quarterly financials have finally arrived, and they carry within good news for the PlayStation brand. PS5 is selling briskly, third party games are moving, monthly active users are steady, and so on. But this recent report portends rougher times ahead, too, especially when it comes to PlayStation's vaunted dozen-or-so 'games-as-a-service' that once promised to help shepherd in a new era of Sony exclusive. And all of this against the backdrop of a mysteriously-exiting CEO? With Concord confirmed for 2024, Bungie looking a little bit like a lemon, and a potential Twisted Metal teaser embedded in a recent live-action trailer, the reality is: We have much to discuss. Plus: Grand Theft Auto VI's reveal trailer is coming in December, Sony will be co-funding and co-producing Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda film, BioWare continues to tease Mass Effect for some reason, Embracer's collapse continues unabated, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! PlayStation Portal is right around the corner. What's our excitement level? Nearly a million people have already Platinumed Spider-Man 2. Does this data have significance? PSVR2's coverage is virtually non-existent on Sacred Symbols. Is a lack of media attention partially responsible for the peripheral's soft reception? World War III lurks right around the corner. First things first. This is probably the most NSFW show that we've done. Be warned. Now that's established, this is a special shortened, but extremely fun episode of Character Issues inspired by the now retired Lou Reads The Internet For You podcast that we're all fans of. Seriously, check it out while it's still available. We take two fanfics of some of our characters and read them, verbatim, warts and all. Also we bring to you a special fanfic not found anywhere on the internet. Find the original works here:A Fine Line Between Fool and Heartache by RunicMagitekhttps://archiveofourown.org/works/7286704The Kindest Use a Knife by J_Marquishttps://archiveofourown.org/works/14319765Also featuring the following music, absolutely not used for monetary gain, so it's all good and fair use.Tina Fabrique - Reading Rainbow Luigi Boccherini - Minuet Opus 11 Number 5George Friderich Handel - SarabandeFrédéric Chopin - Nocturne Opus 9 Number 2Check out our website characterissues.com and please leave us some reviews on your podcatcher of choice, but especially iTunes, it'll help.

This week, Sara and Runa take the concept of a visual novel book club to its next logical step and join an exciting, breathtaking, Dokidoki Literature Club! What will happen when we spend our days reading novels and discussing manga and writing poetry with cute girls? Will we get to snack on cute cupcakes and get to know our fellow club members? Will we have heartpounding discussions about our favorite literary tropes? Well, whatever happens, I'm sure it will be extremely safe and normal!Dokidoki Literature Club!(2017) is a visual novel that begins as a very cute, lighthearted dating sim where you play as a faceless high school boy at the beginning of a new week, unsure of what club he might join in school and without any particular direction for the time being. He quickly encounters his childhood friend and neighbor, Sayori, who coaxes him (with the promise of cupcakes) to try out the literature club. Once there, Sayori introduces him to the other current members: Yuri, a tall and introverted girl who reads intricate fantasy and sci-fi novels; Natsuki, a small and contrary girl who loves baking and reading manga; and the club president, Monika, who your protagonist notes is one of the most popular and beautiful girls in school. As you spend more time in the literature club, you'll start to grow closer to Sayori, Yuri, and Natsuki, all while Monika is getting closer and closer to something as well...Please note that, if you haven't played DDLC before, the game features explicit images and themes of self-harm, suicide and suicide ideation, and unreality. Welcome to the Hentai Literature Club, where we analyze Hentai through the lens of literary criticism! Here, on the first episode, we look at hentai doujins which feature breasts in all of their different forms, which leads to questions about how do we change from our day-to-day lives to the bedroom, how do intimate relationships form, how do our personal experiences affect our ability to enjoy or engage with a text, and how to accept our own bodies. Yes, all of these questions from talking about hentai. We hope you enjoy. If you want to read along with us and join the discussion, the texts we looked at in this episode were: "Ooana Manbaken" by Kemuri Haku, "The Devil's Meaty Monster" from "Houman Mucchiri Pai" by Muronaga Chaashuu, and "Chounyuu For You" by Nagashima Chosuke,
