In Episode 12, Vanessa and Emily explore two pieces of media that have a hidden heart beneath their rugged surface: Dinner in America and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. What connects these two different stories? How does Wolfenstein II hold up in today's world? And WHAT were Vanessa and Emily like in high school? (I'm sure you can already guess.)Dinner in America is available on Hulu; you can find Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus on the PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Martin Stig Andersen is a video game score composer and game audio specialist. He as provided music and/or sound for such games as Playdead's LIMBO (2010) and INSIDE (2016), as well as Wolfenstien II: The New Colossus (2017) and Control (2019). I have played all of those games and they are some of my all-time favorites. Martin was called out by my past guest Clemens Ruh, sound designer on the incredible INDUSTRIA (2021). In this episode we will discuss the iterative process of developing LIMBO, the role of silence in video game scoring, the difference between music and sound design, are LIMBO and INSIDE connected?, playing music through a human skull, inhabiting the space between music and sound design, sound design influencing game design, the absurdity of Wolfenstein II, combat vs. exploration music, working on a remaster, and much more. Hello hello everybody and welcome back to episode 44 of Trophy Talk! This marks our second episode of Spooktober , a time of year full of frights, candy, scary pumpkins, and creepy monsters. Well, if you choose to engage in those sorts of media at least. This episode is a big one for us, as the second episode of the month the hosts dive deep into what we've been playing for the month of October! And, speaking of hosts, for the first time in a few episodes, the whole gang is back together. That's right, you can expect Colin, Eli, and Darryl's answers to your hard hitting Patreon questions including things like, how we would fare against Thanos, what our favorite season is, if we would buy a new Sony handheld, what features we want to keep from the PS5, and what games we love but will never platinum. On top of all that goodness Darryl gives his long awaited thoughts on achieving the platinum in Wolfenstein II, Eli starts to sound like a real pro with his understanding of Minecraft, and Colin falls deep into survival horror and nostalgia with Alien: Isolation. We hope you enjoy and thank you for listening!
Hello hello everybody and welcome back to Trophy Talk! Episode 40 marks the first episode that focuses primarily on what we've been playing, and Patreon questions! Boy do we have some bangers for you this time. We start the show off by asking, what is the proper time to dispose of a pair of socks or underwear? You'd be surprised just how deep this conversation can get. From there we get serenaded by some dad jokes before moving on to answer questions like, what movies are infinity rewatchable? What are some of the best and worst dreams we've had? And, if we could bring private servers to life for a game that lost them which one would it be? The second half of the show focuses on what we've been playing. Eli gushes about his ever growing love for virtual Legos, aka "Minecraft" and gets excited that he's nearly done with "Doom: Eternal." Darryl shares his first war stories from "Wolfenstein II" and his slow practice runs leading up to Mein Lieben. Colin cleans up an old classic in "Mass Effect" , and polishes off the full "Spyro Reignited Trilogy" which in turn reignites his interest in 3D platformers. See what we did there? Thanks for listening of course and we hope you enjoy!

The New Colossus is a very strange game. By our usual metrics, this sequel isn't as good as its predecessor. The levels are bad, and the difficulty tuning is way out of whack. Instead, what makes us love this game is its audacity, and how well it tells its story... sometimes even through play! Billy begins the game near death, having lost his leader and his ability to walk. But he still mounts up and puts together a resistance movement to take back America and begin the revolution against the Nazis, once and for all. This is a preview of April's premium episode. The holiday season may be upon us, but the review of the decade continues! In this week's episode, your favorite hosts dive headfirst into 2016 and 2017. While it wasn't so hot in politics at this time, all of that turmoil was trumped by what were two solid years in gaming. See what I did there? These two years brought with them a system that is near and dear to Andy and Amar's hearts, as well as numerous titles they continue to enjoy to this day. Games like Wolfenstein II, Destiny 2, Splatoon 2 (that's a lot of "twos"), Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, Persona 5, and Doom provided countless hours of entertainment for people around the world. Just like this podcast! Also, the Nintendo Switch released in 2017, and is still the guys' favorite gaming system to use in the bathroom. Much easier than a PS4. We know, because we've tried. From us at the Bored Certified Gaming Podcast, happy holidays.

We're big fans of the Wolfenstein reboot from a couple of years ago, as well as the standalone DLC that followed it up, so with no surprises whatsoever we're getting excited about the next game coming in October this year. During EGX 2017 we got the chance to tag along with Stuart Cullen and record his chat with Andreas Öjerfors, senior game designer at Machinegames, to find out what the intrepid Scottish Sun reporter was asking about with Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus being just over the horizon. Would it all centre around the inclusion of a Scottish character, does Andreas want some Irn Bru, or how does Haggis go down in Sweden? The interview may include at least one of those things… Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, developed by Machinegames and published by Bethesda, continues the story started in Wolfenstein: The New Order and has B. J. Blazkowicz picking up the mantle of freeing America from the oppression of the Nazis and is due for release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on the 27th October. We'll be bringing the review as soon as we can get our grubby mitts on a copy of the game.
Corey and Edward come together to discuss the new possibilities for third party games on Nintendo Switch now that Bethesda is piling on the support.
On this week's show we go over the latest game releases, talk a bit about the Nintendo Direect that aired a few days ago and the headlines it brought with it, and finally, because I can't help myself we touch ever so slightly on Destiny 2's post game content. This week's discussion topics include the announcement that Bethesda's Doom and upcoming Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus are headed to the Nintendo Switch. Buffa is especially smitten with the topic considering he's been eyeing Wolfenstein II since he got his hands on it at an event a few months back. We then briefly discuss Metroid: Samus Returns and the concept of remaking (not remastering) games from scratch. We wrap up the show by talking about Microsoft's Xbox Showcase which we had the pleasure of attending earlier this week. Thanks as always for listening!
The Horror Junkies are back in the studio this week with their good friend Jorge. The Florida sky is turning black and the winds begin to pick up, which means that the conditions for recording our episode are perfect. On this week's episode we discuss Infection movies and finally tackle the underrated hit It Comes At Night by Trey Edward Shults. In the first half of the show, Patrick drags us through what felt like an eternity of Horror News. Bringing up some really anticipated Horror themed games from the E3 conference that was this past week. Such titles include: The Last of Us part 2, The Evil Within 2, Wolfenstein II, and Days Gone, which feels like it was influenced by World War Z. Be sure to check out those games if your into survival games or if you just want to cry with the lights off. We also had a pretty intense Horror History segment with Mike. Before digging into his topic, Mike brought up a painting from It Comes At Night. This particular painting is titled The Triumph of Death and was painted by Pieter Bruegel the Elder in 1562. Depicting mass death, walking skeletons, and destruction. The topic of Horror History today was the Bubonic Plague that decimated Europe in the 14th century, wiping out one-third of its population. The second half of the show is our short Spoiler Free conversation about It Comes At Night, followed by a longer spoiler filled conversation about what our thoughts are and the questions we have after watching the movie. This movie got a really solid rating from the Horror Junkies, and it really makes the viewer think and pay attention. But don't take our word for it, go see It Comes At Night and tell us what you think. As always.... Stay Weird! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/horrorjunkiespodcasts/support
