POPULARITY
As an actor, Matthew Ewald's extensive experience and career in the industry began in 2001 when he completed not only his first feature film “Terminal Error,” but in the same year was fortunate enough to have portrayed Nicholas Bluetooth on the highly popular FOX science fiction/adventure television series “Galidor.” The franchise, an international hit, spawned Matthew his own action figure, as well as merchandising rights through Cap'N'Crunch cereal, McDonalds Happy Meal Toys, XBOX and Playstation video game consoles, among many others. He has wrapped production on over sixty-plus films, including one of the lead roles—as the villainous Mallock—in the pilot “Trancers Paradox,” as well as a guest-starring role in “Humber City.” He was a part of the highly acclaimed video game web-series “Mario Warfare,” as well as the episode “Lolani” for the equally acclaimed “Star Trek: Continues.” He has also had the great honor to have filmed the serious-minded remake of the 1959 classic Edward D. Wood, Jr.'s magnum opus, “Plan 9 From Outer Space.” Matthew has also won the prestigious Macabre Faire Film Festival's Best Actor in a Feature Film award for his role as Carl in the motion picture “Athena.” As a writer, Matthew is a published author with a number of horror stories already to his credit (three of which he had been asked to adapt into audio productions). He is a member of the HWA. Human Nature marked his debut novel. His follow-up novel, Whispers in the Cries, is his masterpiece of the genre combining frightening ghost story themes before a backdrop of events surrounding the RMS Queen Mary. The Coffin Clock is his most heartfelt novel, of high adventure, ghost pirates, and family bonding.

WATCH Romeo's Distress FREE HERE - https://youtu.be/w6EPLc5Zs8w Romeo's Distress is about a creepy guy named James, his unrequited love for a beautiful girl named Jane, and her father's sadistic response to it all. Romeo's Distress is a 2017 American independent, gothic, neo-noir, horror film and the directorial debut of Jeff Frumess. It was filmed on location in Westchester, NY. The film had its world premiere at the Macabre Faire Film Festival in January 2017. The film takes its name from the Christian Death song on the album Only Theatre of Pain, written by Rozz Williams and Rikk Agnew. In 2018, myself and Nick Bohun sat down to record a commentary track for the genre film Romeo's Distress - a "Gothic Noir" midnight movie. Having shelved plans for the Bluray due to various factors, I have decided to upload the film to youtube along with a version including this commentary track. On Tonights Episode We Talk To Tom Ryan Director of Theatre of Terror and Upcoming Film Theatre of Terror 2 This episode is sponsored by Deadly Grounds Coffee "Its good to get a little Deadly" https://deadlygroundscoffee.com Support Funding For Return To Terror https://igg.me/at/Return-to-Terror/x/12861307#/ Tom Ryan was born and raised in Jersey City NJ. Since his early childhood he's had a great passion for horror films. He nurtured that passion by filming backyard VHS films, drawing his own slasher-comic series titled "Midnight", and religiously collecting every issue of Fangoria magazine. In college Tom studied the media arts for two years before eventually dropping out to work full time. With a handful of childhood friends that share in his taste for the macabre Tom recently put together an independent production company called "Theatre of Terror". With a mission to make quality low budget independent horror, they launched their first short film "Day 9" in January of 2013. Day 9 went on to secure digital distribution through SHORTS HDTV. Another of Tom's great passions is music. He's been performing in bands since the age of 17 and is the lead singer and bass player for the band "Vlad the Inhaler". The band released their first studio album "the Human Infection" in April of 2013. Vlad the Inhaler performed at the Macabre Faire Film Festival in June 2013 and Parafest in September 2013. Their 2nd album "The Aftermath" was released in late 2016. Shortly after the release of "Day 9" started work on his first feature film "FACES". Filming began in late 2013 and the production wrapped in August of 2014. The film premiered on October 10th at the Landmark Loews theater in Jersey City to an audience of over 250 people. Soon after submitting to several festivals the film was accepted to the NY Horror Show/Macabre Faire film festival (screening in January 2015). This is where the film won Audience Choice Best Feature, Best Soundtrack, and a Best Actor Award for Tom who played the lead character Frank Walker. "FACES" has recently secured distribution through Green Apple Entertainment. Besides writing and directing Tom has also appeared in several independent projects: Corrado Gadaleta's Dead Road (web series) as Sniper (episodes 5-8) Theatre of Terror's Day 9 (short film) as Tom Weber Pictures' Sheriff Tom vs the Zombies (feature) as partygoer Mark Boutros' The Collectors (short film) as Frank Devarez Films' Zombie Hunters: City of the Dead (tv series) as FBI Agent O'Malley (episode 10) Weber Pictures' Zombies Incorporated (web series) as Gerald Jones Weber Pictures' Witches Blood (feature) as Gerald Jones Bradley Creanzo's Case at Midnight (feature) as Geils Durstein Theatre of Terror's FACES (feature) as Frank Walker (Won Best Actor) Mass Grave Pictures' Theta States (feature) as Danny (won Best Actor) Jeremiah Kipp's Black Wake (feature) as the Fisherman New Needle Productions' Good Day (feature) as Eric IMDb Mini Biography By: Tom Ryan Follow Tom Here Twitter: https://twitter.com/TomTerror1 Check Out Theatre of Terrors Social Media Here Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/theatreterror/ Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/TheatreTerror/ Website: www.theatreofterror.net https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPoKm4srVp0MBUDOenOhHBA Follow the Dorks Kevin @Aknuckle Tony @Tonyhas9fingers Yo Yo https://www.facebook.com/yossarian.norman https://www.instagram.com/boymeetsphone/ https://twitter.com/BoyMeetsPhone Produced by: The Dorkening Podcast Network https://TheDorkening.com Facebook.com/TheDorkening Youtube.com/TheDorke Find out more at https://wicked-horror-show.pinecast.co Send us your feedback online: https://pinecast.com/feedback/wicked-horror-show/7b024550-88f1-4fa2-8b10-bb9f1e672237
CHRISTINA RAIAIn Her Own Words: Filmmaking & Community LeadershipI am now a New York City based Writer/Director and the Founder and Team Leader of CongestedCat Productions, LLC. I shot my first feature film, SUMMIT, a Horror-Drama, in 2013. It premiered at the 2015 Manhattan Film Festival and was awarded Best Horror Film. I won Best Director for the film at the 2015 Flickers: Rhode Island International Film Festival (Vortex Genre Fest); and the film also screened at the 2015 Scare-A-Con Film Festival, 2015 Unreal Film Festival, and 2016 Macabre Faire Film Festival. It is available on Amazon Prime, Vimeo on Demand, and VHX. Shortly after wrapping production on SUMMIT, I directed and produced the comedic web series 'Kelsey,' which premiered on blip.tv in September 2013 to rave reviews and consistent press coverage, including as a Critic's Pick and named one of the 19 Best Comedy Web Series of 2013 by Indiewire.com. It has over a quarter million hits online and has screened across the country as part of an LGBT Web Series Panel tour, most notably at Outfest. It is now available on Vimeo and Youtube.I turned my desire to foster collaboration and engagement in the local film community into IndieWorks, a monthly film screening series showcasing and supporting the work of other independent filmmakers in New York. Each month screens 4 or 5 shorts and consistently has over 50 people in attendance. It is currently starting its 6th year and has gained name recognition of its own.My work often has a focus on character exploration. I have an affinity for ensemble pieces and quick-witted dialogue. I love exploring social issues through humor and horror. My other credits as Writer, Director include a dozen independently produced (read no-budget and community supported) narrative shorts that have made official selection at film festivals across the country. I am currently on the festival circuit with with my second feature, a comedy titled About A Donkey, written by and co-produced with 'Kelsey' collaborator Kelsey Rauber. It has screened at the 2018 Austin Revolution Film Festival, where it was nominated for 7 awards and won Best Produced Screenplay, as well as the 2018 North Carolina Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, 2018 Georgia Film Festival, 2018 Adirondack Film Festival, 2018 Buffalo International Film Festival, 2018 YoFiFest; 2019, Flathead Lake International Cinemafest, and 2019 Cambria Film Festival; with upcoming screenings at the 2019 Queens World Film Festival and 2019 Capital City Film Festival. I'm in early festival submissions for a new horror short titled “The Gaze,” as well as in early development for Silent Night, my feature horror-comedy that I intend to be my third feature; the screenplay for which made the Quarter Finals of the 2016 Slamdance Screenplay Competition. I was selected as one of the 10 to Watch Filmmakers in 2018 by Independent Magazine, as well as selected for the prestigious 2018 NYFF Artist Academy. At the 2019 Queens World Film Festival, I was honored to receive the Lois Weber Pioneer Award for leadership in filmmaking. This week we chat with Christina Raia Christina grew up on Long Island with a single mother and one brother. Growing up multi-ethnic (her mom was born in Trinidad of Indian descent; her father's side is Sicilian with a touch of Austrian -- bet you didn't guess that when you looked at her), She had the privilege of never fitting in, which meant always feeling a bit out of place but also unable to be put in anyone else's box. Often an outside observer of people and their stories, She fell in love with movies very early on as a child. She can't quite pinpoint a moment in her childhood when She decided She wanted to be a filmmaker; it is simply a desire that has always been there. She began writing stories at age five and She attributes her interest in visual storytelling in large part to watching movies of very wide variety with her mom at a young age. Watching "The Twilight Zone" marathon every fourth of July was a family tradition and she credits that as a huge reason for her interest in screenwriting. She wrote Her first screenplay, or what She thought was a screenplay, at age nine. She knew her love for movies was something bigger than just an interest when a video camera was first placed in her hands at the age of 13. It was from that point forward that her passion in life was clearly defined. In high school, she attempted to make two "feature films" with a cast of friends and a crew of one, but those never quite panned out. After high school, she took a year off and honed in on her writing. she won a couple of online video contests and put the money towards funding her first big project. Christina enrolled in Hunter College in 2008 and made her first independent short, "Do Over," a psychological thriller, the summer after freshman year. She then graduated with honors with a BA in Film Production & Studies in 2012. Filmmaking & Community Leadership She is now a New York City based Writer/Director and the Founder and Team Leader of CongestedCat Productions, LLC. She shot her first feature film, SUMMIT, a Horror-Drama, in 2013. It premiered at the 2015 Manhattan Film Festival and was awarded Best Horror Film. This week, we bring you the Filmmaking On A Budget panel from the Macabre Faire Film Festival, featuring indie directors Patrick Devaney, Jeremiah Kipp, and Jerry Landi. Whether making films on the budget of a pizza dinner, two days of shooting for 10 months of post production, to working with Hollywood actors, at the end of the day the only thing that matters is finishing the film. Patrick, Jerry and Jeremiah discuss their ups and downs of producing low-budget films over the last decade and more. Scrubbing race cars out of your sound, ADR, mobile greenscreens, zombies on the beach, creature creation, artistic filmmaking, shorts vs features, making money, losing money, and everything in between. If you have the slightest inclination to make your own films, this panel proves that you CAN do it yourself! This week, we bring you the Latino Filmmaker panel from the Macabre Faire Film Festival. Hosted by Manny Serrano, and featuring filmmakers Edwin Pagan and Christian Moran, horror super-fan and actress Ines Peek also joined us for the talk. While much of Hollywood is currently fighting for equality of female and black filmmakers, one of the most marginalized groups in American film today are Latino and Hispanic filmmakers. Making up less than 4% of characters in films in Hollywood, the Hispanic perspective on life is one that is not told very often, and is generally overlooked. In an eye-opening panel, we discuss the hardships Latinos face growing up in America, and not seeing themselves and their identities portrayed truthfully in American cinema. Edwin Pagan tells about how he started the website LatinHorror.com and how it has become a central hub for a community that he, and many others, did not the extent to which it existed before the website came to be. Christian Moran talks about his career, from writing faux-sequels to films when he was young and filming them with his siblings, to his new Proxies Of Fear film series which strives to give a platform to Latino and other minority filmmakers in New Jersey. Bringing in more of a viewers perspective, Ines Peek lends her thoughts on her experiences watching horror films as a child and a teenager, and how it has fueled her love for the genre and film festivals today. She also describes how the lack of representation in films may bottle-necked the opportunities for her to follow her aspirations of becoming an actress, via the lack of roles available to audition for, to very minimal support from friends and family telling her that it was possible. Filmmaking is a visual medium, obviously. So it goes without saying that choosing the right cinematographer is essential in telling your story properly. At the Macabre Faire Film Festival, Manny was lucky enough to have hosted multiple panels, one of which was The Art Of Cinematography, with two extremely talented D.P's in Phil Kral and Jill Poisson. Discussing a range of topics starting with how they became cinematographers to defining a "film look," working with multiple directors, and how to create a visual style over the span of a career. Happy New Year everyone! Today marks the one-year anniversary of the first episode of Filmmaking Sucks AND the first episode of the new year, so we decided to do a bit of a year end wrap-up. A huge part of this struggle is keeping yourself motivated in the face of so much rejection and, plain and simple, a lack of time. Between working to pay the bills, and shooting your films on weekends, how do you find the time to actually promote yourself at events? You lose sleep, you lose a social life and essentially free time as a whole. The road to getting noticed is definitely a long-game. It takes 20 years to become an overnight success, so you have to plan to put the time in, and try to not focus on doing too much at once. This week we will talk about some of our personal goals and how we budget some of our time in order to always keep ourselves working towards our long-term goals. You can catch us next weekend, Jan 12th-14th at the Macabre Faire Film Festival, where Lindsays film "Beneath" will be screening on Saturday and Sunday. Lindsay will also be part of the Women In Horror Panel, and Manny will be hosting the Cinematography Panel, featuring Jill Poisson and Phil Kral. Go to MacabreFaireFilmFest.com to buy tickets! Happy Turkey Day everyone! While most people are sitting around a table eating (and we hope enjoying) dinner, we have decided to bring you a special bonus episode of Channel X, where we discuss one of the oldest supernatural legends of North America, the Native American Skinwalker. Unfortunately, Manny spent three days dealing with a tooth infection, so the episode is a little late, but fret not! The discussion is just as compelling! The history of this creature goes back centuries, but is most widely known today in the Navajo traditional Skinwalker. Let us tantalize you with the history of this legendary shape-shifter, as we discuss the etymology, and how it connects to modern day Lycanthropy and Ufology! About three weeks ago, Manny was fortunate enough to be interviewed on the paranormal radio show, True Ghost Stories. The show is hosted by Adam Ginsberg and Sherri Emily, and can be regularly heard on Monday Nights at 10pm eastern time on WLOR.NET. So, this week we are presenting the interview in full to you, our Channel X Listeners. On the show they have interviewed a plethora of paranormal investigation crews, so i was very excited when Adam asked me to be a guest on the show. we discussed my own personal Shadow Person experiences, among a few other subjects. We've known Adam for a few years now, him and his wife Elsie run Twitch Twitch Productions, which host the Macabre Faire Film Festival, Haunt Faire and numerous other events throughout the year. Their next big event is Immortal Con, coming up next weekend on Sept 24th in Ronkonkoma, NY at the Clarion Conference Center. Immortal Con is a Fantasy & Cosplay convention with a secondary cause; Elsie Ginsberg was diagnosed with Breast Cancer many years ago, and part of Immortal Cons mission is to spread awareness and help to get attention to the cause of fighting breast cancer and coming together in support of those who have survived the fight, and those who haven't. So, if ever there was a show for you to get behind, this is the one. This coming Saturday, Sept 17th, you can find us at 'Grindhouse at Cafe Z'. Grindhouse is a mostly quarterly event in Union, NJ showcasing some of the newest films in Independent Horror and SciFi. This Saturday we will be at the show, premiering the first two episodes of our new web series, Dark Tales From Channel X. So, if you're in the NY/NJ area this weekend, come on out and see some great short films for the day. There will also be musical performances and vendors set up for the day, including ourselves. So, if you would like to pick up our films on DVD, this is your chance! head on over to Horrornerd.net for more information and to buy your tickets for the day.Subscribe to us on iTunes, Stitcher, TuneIn or one of the many other podcast apps out there!
