Marc King has been with Keller Williams since 1997 and has moved through the company from an agent all the way to becoming the President of KWRI. He likes to say that he makes more mistakes than any one else in the company, and one of those was not focusing on Profit Share sooner.Marc shares that people recruiting people to make money doesn't work — it's the realization that you can help change lives that makes Profit Share work. For Marc, his big WHY is his family, including extended family, and helping to take care of them is why he does what he does.In the late 00s, his grandmother was very ill and was on kidney dialysis. It was $400/month to keep her on dialysis, and he was struggling financially with his business. He outlines just how much he was struggling, and how he had to tell his grandmother that he couldn't cover her dialysis one month. The day he believed he couldn't make the dialysis payment, he received just enough in profit share to make the payment for her.He shares that it's not the Profit Share and that what makes goes to charity — it's not about what you get, it's about who you become, and helping people realize that. Linda notes that you never know when Profit Share will help fill a gap, and that you never know when that will happen.Linda mentions that if Keller Williams isn't changing your life, you're not leaning into enough stuff because there is opportunity. Marc is a good example as he literally started at the bottom and worked his way up.

In today's episode of the Live UNREAL w/Glover U Podcast, we are joined by a brilliant panel of leaders in real estate and banking: Keller Williams' President Marc King, Berkshire Hathaway Home Services' Steven Fase II, eXp Realty's CEO Jason Gesing, and Sandro DiNello, CEO of Flagstar Bank. These industry insiders are perched in different areas of real estate, and each bring an insightful, high-level perspective about the market and where they see it going.  The panelists share what they are paying attention to, and recommend strategies for agents to stay ahead of the game and win in different market conditions. You'll also learn: Relationship vs. technology  How agents can compete at a higher level What our experts think about Zillow and its relationship with the industry   Quotes  No matter how easy the communication is and how great the tech is, even among Gen-Z and millennials, they still want an agent and that's going to continue to be true. -Jason Gesing  Realtors who have strong relationships shouldn't be worried about technology. -Mark King  We are only as good as the average among us in terms of our value to clients. -Mark King  If the consumer thinks we're the same, it's a race to the bottom. -Steven Fase   Key Points  There are always going to be ups and downs. Some are created by monetary policy and inflation and others aren't. Agents need to be prepared for the worst thing that might happen. If it doesn't happen, you're way ahead of everyone else and if it does, you'll survive. Every time there's something difficult that creates an opportunity, take advantage of the uncertainties. There is a correction coming, but we don't know how big it will be. The agents who prepare right now will win. The migration to second home markets on a permanent basis is one of the biggest shifts in the market right now. The remote work trend is here to stay, and agents need to be positioning themselves to capture the opportunity. If brokerages want to continue to be relevant, they need to start competing where Zillow is strong and that's on search.

On this episode, Linda and Dana talk to Marc King about how he went from living in a car as a teenager to building massive wealth for himself as an adult. Marc shares how growing up poor made him think that the way out was to make money in sports, and did go to college on a baseball and golf scholarship, but as he started to realize he wouldn't make money off those sports after college, he started paying attention to the people who were making money knowing about business.  He ended up going into real estate and realizing he did love working with buyers, but that he excelled with sellers and focused on listings.  As he progressed, he also learned about himself that he enjoyed long term relationships with people that extended past the 90 day relationships he had with sellers and he shifted into leadership.  Marc shares what he has learned in his journey to wealth and what helped him the most along the way.
