Jason Quigley is about to begin The Rebuild – and who better than Andy Lee to guide him back towards the top? After all, Lee knows all about The Rocky Road from world title contender to forgotten fighter. He put every drop of blood, sweat and tears into his career to earn himself a crack at the WBC world middleweight title in 2012 but it all went wrong on a sweltering summer night in El Paso against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. He then had to deal with the devastation of losing his beloved trainer and mentor, Emanuel Steward, and look for somewhere to start again from scratch. Lee found a new coach in Adam Booth and, two and a half years later, pulled off an unforgettable victory when he stopped Matt Korobov in Las Vegas to win the WBO world middleweight belt. Luckily for Quigley, he is not starting from scratch. Lee showed it can be done. In his last outing, Quigley was defeated by Demetrius Andrade for the WBO belt Lee previously held but it was another Irish boxing world title night where everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Lee had visa issues and couldn't attend. And Quigley's game-plan – to feel his way into the fight and figure out his man – went kerplunk when he suffered a broken jaw in the very first round. He's been clipped since – first by an O'Neills Size 5 – and knows he's good to go. The comeback date has been secured – April 1 at the National Stadium – and the opponent will be Kim Poulsen of Denmark. The Rebuild has begun, as both Quigley and Lee tell Kevin Byrne following a lively press conference at the National Stadium. Kev also catches up with Limerick boxing brothers Paddy and Edward Donovan, who fill him in on their sparring sessions at home and abroad, and Lanzarote-based former Irish pro Jonathan O'Brien, who's now coaching fighters over there. He bemoans the recent state of Dublin boxing but, with a new partnership in Elite Sheer on the scene for the Quigley comeback (and pro debut in Ireland), as well as a Waterford card and a Katie Taylor homecoming on the horizon, there's reason to be cheerful for fight fans in the starved south. Fightweekend is amongst us again, but unfortunately for Jermall Charlo he has to face a replacement in Matt Korobov after Willie Monroe, Jr. was pulled for a banned substance. So today lets discuss what makes a fighter risk a payday and a chance at a title by trying to cut corners. What is going through his mind, what type of pressure is he under when he thinks that taking a PED or steroid might be ok? What type of punishment should a fighter get for this? Also lets talk about what a replacement fighter has to feel as he steps up in class on a late notice. Is he looking for a payday or is he looking for the upset? Andy Lee defeats Matt Korobov to win the world title for Ireland. Music: Instrumental cover of Just like Honey by Jesus and the Mary Chain
First Irishman to win a world title bout in America since Jimmy McLarnin in 1934. First Irish world middleweight champ since Steve Collins 20 years ago. Killer right hook. All round nice guy. Our 4Thumps first series kicked off with Andy Lee and we’re back with the main man to conclude. The Limerick man joined Kev, Ciaran and Eric to discuss his WBO glory against Matt Korobov in Las Vegas and mull over his options like bringing boxing back to RTE screens, fighting at home, early days in the amateur squad with Eric and the songs being written about his success. Lee and Taylor were on our first show and within weeks, both had won world titles. Jono Carroll went from 4Thumps to Prizefighter champ so we’re something of a good omen. Enjoy our latest show, and see you (hopefully) for Season 2! #4Thumps #IrishBoxing
Irish middleweight Andy Lee stands on the brink. A world title shot v Matt Korobov beckons this Saturday night. Can the Limerick man and Athens Olympian step across to become a WBO world champion? Our team of Kev, Ciaran and Eric assesses the southpaw's chances against fellow leftie Korobov. We also have input from @LoveIrishBoxing's Leonard Gunning and Lee's former Ireland team-mate, Kenneth Egan. There's the top Lee moments featuring Marty Morrissey, journalists losing objectivity and the realisation that there's no more Mr Nice guy in this one. Enjoy #4Thumps

Even killjoys like the two hosts of Queensberry Rules Radio are willing to admit it when fight cards are reasonably entertaining. Maybe not without some tears or whimpering, but it's not totally unheard of, anyway. Between a solid HBO card this past weekend and the dueling HBO and Showtime cards this coming weekend, there was bound to be a good fight or two. So let's hope the quota didn't already get filled. This week on TQBR Radio, James Foley of Bad Left Hook and The Queensberry Rules' Patrick Connor do it all. From David Lemieux's stoppage of Gabe Rosado (and accompanying undercard), to Amir Khan vs Devon Alexander (and undercard) and Tim Bradley vs Diego Chaves (and undercard), there may be some forced optimism. Thanks for tuning in! (Photo: Tom Hogan/Hogan Photos)

With overall matchmaking options boxing narrowing and becoming more limited and asterisk-laden, we've had to relax our standards some, even if only out of a survival instinct. No, boxing is not dying or limping or anything like that, but the last two months or so have given us surprisingly entertaining fights from bouts that, beforehand, were either considered tune ups or technical match ups. Lucas Matthysse-John Molina wound up a splendid fight indeed, Robert Guerrero-Yoshihiro Kamegai slugged its way into our hearts, and this past weekend, Terence Crawford went all Travis Bickle on everyone and mopped up Yuriorkis Gamboa. As Bad Left Hook's James Foley is on vacation, joining Patrick Connor this week is Queensberry-Rules and Transnational Boxing Rankings Board Chair Tim Starks. Also likely to be covered: Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs Erislandy Lara, Evander Holyfield's retirement, more Golden Boy and Top Rank vs Al Haymon and Richard Schaefer nonsense, etc. Thanks for tuning in!
