A friend of mine got in touch with me (Matthew Janzen) about doing an interview for one of his college courses. He asked me various questions about being a pastor and the particular religious persuasion of our congregation. I hope it's all a blessing to you.
Utah's Children's Justice Centers are in nearly every county in the state and are a safe place for abused children to talk about and provide evidence regarding what they've been through. These CJCs look like residential homes to provide a comfortable, secure environment for interviewing young victims of violent crime. The Utah Attorney General's Office oversees the state's CJCs, designed as important “safe houses.” There, specially trained investigators help children talk about what they've been through as part of an ongoing investigation. What they say can be used in court. It's a compassionate way to deal with the dispassionate prosecution of a criminal case. In Part 1, we spoke to the CJC's Deputy Director, Heather Stewart. From Matthew Janzen of Ministers of the New Covenant Streamed Live Jun 3, 2021 Most people begin speaking on or thinking about the New Covenant with Hebrews 8 or 2 Corinthians 3. That's too late in the game. We should begin - at least - with Jeremiah 31, and then pull from either further than that based on key words in the text. But then, you have a lot of people that read Jeremiah 31:31-34 and stop. They don't finish chapter 31, much less go into chapter 32 and 33. I first met them on Facebook, and over the last 2 to 3 years we've grown to know each other as friends. Brother Sean has actually been to my house once for dinner, and I've been on several different shows with him discussing topics in Scripture, and giving answers to various questions we get asked about our branch of the faith. From Matthew Janzen of Ministers of the New Covenant This is an introductory lesson on the Septuagint that begins by noticing three key texts in the New Testament which quote former texts in the Old Testament. By comparing the two we can notice that the NT author is citing from the Greek Old Testament rather than the more commonly accepted Hebrew Old Testament (Masoretic Text). At the end of the lesson I take a few questions, and hopefully this will spark your attention as we continue this Bible study series throughout the year (2022). Matthew Janzen of Ministers of the New Covenant May 21, 2021 PART 1: In this lesson I give some preliminary thoughts about what has happened in my life as a Torah Observant Christian over the last 23+ years. I then begin walking through the prophecy in Jeremiah 31 (beginning at verse 31) and define words, phrases, and concepts using Scripture alone. Very few people have a correct understanding on what the New Covenant actually is, but I promise you that it's not difficult to figure out if we just stay with Holy Scripture. PART 2: The better promises of the New Covenant do not stop at Jeremiah 31:34. The rest of Jeremiah 31 (and 32-33) continue to speak on the matter, as well as parallel prophecies in the books of Isaiah, Micah, and Ezekiel. The state of craft beer in Wisconsin is rapidly changing and steadily improving. At this point, it's impossible to document everything that's happening in Milwaukee brewing and in the other microbreweries spread throughout the state. That didn't stop Matthew Janzen from trying. The author and photographer took his interest in beer to the next level when he quit his job and took it upon himself to visit dozens of breweries, fields, and other facilities that work in concert to shape the reputation of Wisconsin brewing. Janzen combined the images, interviews, and information he collected into his first book, State Of Craft Beer. Between stops on his book tour of Wisconsin libraries, Janzen came to Milwaukee Record headquarters to talk about what led to his decision to take on the daunting task of capturing the story of the state's brewing scene, ways things have changed since the book's release, the economic impact beer has in Wisconsin, and what's next for him.
