Er ist Präsident vom Branchenverband MusicTech Germany. Ich habe mit ihm auf der New Visions-Konferenz gesprochen. Die zweitägige Konferenz hat Matthias zusammen mit Philipp Grefer von Wise organisiert und dabei viele internationale Speaker nach Berlin geholt. Falls ihr noch nie auf einer Konferenz wart und mit dem Begriff gar nichts anfangen könnt: Bei einer Konferenz gibt es meist Diskussionsrunden der Vorträge auf einer Bühne. wenn ihr daran teilnehmt, könnt ihr euch das angucken, Fragen stellen und neues Wissen drauf schaffen. Was für viele von euch vielleicht spannender ist: Ihr könnt euch mit ganz vielen Leuten vernetzen, die im Publikum sitzen oder deren Vortrag ihr gerade gehört habt. Ich kann euch also nur empfehlen, geht zu Konferenzen, gerade, wenn sie nicht so teuer sind. Für Artists bieten diese Konferenzen häufig auch noch Unterstützungsmöglichkeiten an. Manche Musikkonferenzen wie das Reeperbahn Festival oder die C/O-Pop in Köln bieten neben dem Konferenz-Teil auch noch Konzerte. In Berlin startet am 12. November also in knapp einem Monat z. B. die Most Wanted Music-Konferenz. Vielleicht sehen wir uns ja da. Im Kindesalter durchlief er die musikalische Ausbildung der Regensburger Domspatzen, einem der ältesten und bekanntesten Chöre der Welt. Das strenge Lernen sorgte aber schließlich dafür, dass Matthias Strobel für immer Abstand vom Gesang und Klavierspiel nahm. Trotzdem blieb er der Musik – wenn auch in anderer Form - treu. Nach einer Ausbildung und Beschäftigung beim ZDF beteiligte sich Matthias Strobel 2012 beim Start-Up Nagual Sounds. Mithilfe von Technologie wollten die Entwickler Musik nur durch Körperbewegungen entstehen lassen. Das Start-Up wurde zwar mit Lob überschüttet, am Ende fehlten die Investorengelder. Danach leitete Strobel u.a. 2015 ein Flüchtlingscamp in Berlin – eine Phase, die ihn unglaublich forderte und einiges lehrte, wie er im Redfield Podcast berichtet. Später tauchte er tiefer in die Welt der Musiktechnologie ein und gründete den Bundesverband MusicTech Germany, der traditionelle Musikindustrie mit den Music Tech Pionieren zusammenbringen möchte. Im Interview tauschen sich Gastgeber Alexander Schröder und Matthias Strobel über die vielfältigen technologischen Entwicklungen in der Musikbranche aus. Dabei sprechen sie über die Schwierigkeiten von sauberen Metadaten, vereinheitlichten Datenbanken, aber auch über spannende Entwicklungen wie K.I., NFT, 3D Audio oder Virtual Reality. Außerdem erklärt der Musikfan die kürzlich mit Dennis Kastrup gegründete Agentur Wicked Artists.
