For the month of January, we are changing things up a bit with the podcast. Instead of our regular interview-style episodes, we will be sharing the teaching from the main talks from our last Fall Conference. This is the first time we are using the podcast platform to share teaching like this. We are kicking off the year with a big reminder that, as believers, we are Messengers of Hope. This past fall, around 400 youth ministry specialists from 18 Central and Eastern European countries came together after a two-year break for our “Movement Conference,” designed to fuel God's work among young people across the region. The theme was "Messenger of Hope." In the evenings, we heard some fantastic teaching by three Josiah Venture missionaries. This episode features Dave Patty, President of Josiah Venture, with his Fall Conference talk, "Messenger of Hope." We hope you enjoy this encouraging talk and that you are inspired to be a messenger of hope. It's been 29 years to this day that Director, Producer, Editor and Filmmaker Eric Christiansen survived the 1990 Painted Cave Fire in Santa Barbara, California. The fire destroyed over 400 homes, including Eric's, and burned over 5,000 acres, devastating many lives.  Eric talks about how he turned to alcohol and drugs to cope with the aftermath initially. But then he later realized that there was a bigger picture to just his own personal trauma.   Since then, he's been creating movies with messages of resilience and inspiration. Although he's won multiple awards for his films, he prefers to call himself a "messenger" because he says surviving that fire has taught him that his purpose now is to not just connect with survivors and relay their stories but to show that there's hope. The release of this episode coincides not only with the 29th anniversary of The Painted Cave Fire in Santa Barbara but also with National PTSD Awareness Day.  This episode--and really all episodes on The Inspire Cafe podcast--are dedicated to spreading awareness about PTSD and mental health. But in Malawi, an exceptionally talented street musician named Lazarus is making a stand in defence of fellow albinos, and he's doing it with music. Lazarus's debut album Stomp the Devil will be released in August, 2019. Producer Banning Eyre takes us inside Lazarus's life and music and explores his surprising tale of survival and activism. We are often reminded to put our faith in God to find healing. On this episode we hear a testimony from Lynne Holcomb that highlights the necessity for faith in times of crisis. After being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer—one of the deadliest forms of an already lethal disease— Lynne has beaten what could have been a life sentence. Through the constant reminder of God's grace from family, friends, members of her Church, and even strangers, Lynne has outlived her diagnosis and wants to use her experience to help others.    “Don’t give up. God doesn’t want you to give up.” - Lynne Holcomb   Lynne was in the shape of her life, working as a personal trainer and teaching kickboxing for 25 years when she was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and given 3-6 months to live.   After receiving this life sentence, a nurse informed Lynne that faith could get her through the ordeal. Lynne recognized in this moment that the nurse was delivering God’s message of reassurance. In the three years since her diagnosis, Lynne has been reminded by her support system of God's ability to heal her. Additionally, she has had her own conversations with Him in which she has found great comfort. A clinical trial ended up not only stopping Lynne's cancer from spreading, but actually got rid of her tumors.    Lynne beating stage 4 pancreatic cancer is a reminder that miracles do happen, and she is passionate about sharing her story to remind others of God's ability to heal. Indeed, her own journey was paved with reminders from others of His grace. Though a harrowing experience, Lynne's ordeal should be a story of hope to all who hear it. Even when all odds seem to be stacked against us, God has the power to help us. What must keep fighting, and continue to have faith.   Guest Bio- At the time of her diagnosis with pancreatic cancer, Lynne Holcomb had been a personal trainer for 25 years.  Lynne's certifications include: NASM CPT AFAA CPT Certified Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor TRX certified An avid sports fan, Lynne sought the first medical advice (which would lead to her diagnosis) while at a sporting event. Since seeing amazing results from a clinical trial to fight the cancer, Lynne aims to inspire others to live life to the fullest. She also strives to highlight the importance of faith to get through life's challenges.

Awake 2 Oneness Radio with my Encore episode of my first show with Suzanne Giesemann, Messenger of Hope. You can tune in to this encore episode on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 7:00 PM EDT. This show originally aired on May 27, 2016. Suzanne is the author of twelve books, a metaphysical teacher, and an evidential medium.  She gifted me with a reading on my son's Kyle's birthday on Thanksgiving Day 2016 and during that reading my son Kyle's voice came through; his voice was captured on the recording of that session. I had never heard of Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP), until I experienced it firsthand in that reading. Also it was the first time in the hundred of readings that Suzanne has done where she captured EVP during her readings on audio. Suzanne captivates audiences as she brings hope, healing, and comfort through her work. Suzanne’s gift of communication with those on the other side provides stunning evidence of life after death. Touted as “a breath of fresh air” with “a quality that is so different from others that it is difficult to describe,” she brings messages of hope and love that go straight to the heart.
