Fast forward four years and he's now he's a two-time MotoAmerica Twins Cup Champion and a factor at the sharp end of MotoAmerica Supersport races, In fact, Davis earned his first Supersport victory in the season's finale at New Jersey Motorsports Park en route to finishing third in the championship behind heavy hitters Mathew Scholtz and PJ Jacobsen. Spend any time with Larry Pegram and there's one thing that's certain - you're gonna laugh. But in case you don't know, Pegram is no joke when it comes to racing a motorcycle. Any kind of motorcycle. Case in point: Pegram has won three AMA Superbike races and multiple AMA Grand National Flat Tracks. At the ripe young age of 51, Pegram recently raced in the MotoAmerica Supersport class at our WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca round, finishing 15th and 11th in the two races. Next weekend, August 16-18, Pegram is going to throw his leg over the TopPro Suzuki GSX-R750 again as MotoAmerica brings the series back to Pegram's home track of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen. There are times when a racer wins a championship and finds himself without a ride for the following year. It happens to the best of them, including Wayne Rainey who won a Superbike title for Kawasaki only to watch as the team disbanded for the following season. Well, Xavi Forés finds himself in the unenviable position of looking for a ride after winning the 2023 MotoAmerica Supersport title. Stefano Mesa won his first MotoAmerica Supersport race of the year in race one at Pittsburgh International Race Complex a few weeks ago. The next day he followed up his victory with another podium finish - his sixth of the year - to end the weekend third in the championship and only 13 points out of second. This week the news broke that Mesa was foregoing the Supersport class after getting a once-in-a-lifetime chance to race a full-blown, race-winning BMW M 1000 R Superbike vacated by the injured Cameron Beaubier for the Tytlers Cycle Racing team. Mesa jumped at the chance and will race the BMW at next weekend's eighth round at Circuit of The Americas and a few weeks later in the season finale at New Jersey Motorsports Park. We caught up with Mesa to chat about his opportunity and much more on this week's episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/stefano37/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/stefano.vmesaSupport the show

No matter what motorcycle Jake Lewis throws his leg over, he goes fast. Whether it's flying through the woods on a motocross bike, racing around in circles on a dirt tracker or road racing against the best MotoAmerica has to offer, Lewis has found success. In 2023, Lewis is learning something new: The art of going fast on a King Of The Baggers Harley-Davidson Road Glide. And that's not all. Lewis is also racing a Disrupt Racing Suzuki GSX-R750 in the MotoAmerica Supersport class. Cory West has been around the racing block a few times. He's raced an EBR in AMA Superbike. He's raced in a Honda 600 in Spain for a guy named Kenny Roberts with current MotoAmerica Supersport points leader Xavi Fores as a teammate. He's raced flat track, two-stroke 250cc GP bikes back when that was a class in AMA racing and even the Pikes Peak Hillclimb. And the ever-smiling racer from Eureka Springs, Arkansas is still at it. Only now it's Mission King Of The Baggers on a Harley-Davidson Road Glide and the Mission Super Hooligan National Championship on a Harley-Davidson Pan America. Xavi Fores had a perfect beginning to his MotoAmerica Supersport season at Road Atlanta with victories in both races and a perfect 50-point tally at the top of the championship. This weekend, the Spaniard will do battle with America's best on an unfamiliar racetrack - Barber Motorsports Park, the site of what will be the first of the two "extended" Supersport races that will feature mandatory pit stops. Fores has plenty of experience on a variety of motorcycles on a variety of racetracks around the world and he also has endurance-racing experience. So don't expect him to struggle. Other than getting engaged to his now-fiancee Kaitlyn, Michael Gilbert had a pretty awful 2022. In this episode I chat with professional motorcycle road racer Braeden Ortt who races a Kawasaki ZX-6R in the Supersport class of the MotoAmerica racing series. The 19 year old racer will be entering his sophomore year of college in the Fall and continuing his major in Chemistry, with future plans to be a plastic surgeon. In the meantime he is racing in two motorcycle racing series as well as enjoying other outdoor sports like snowboarding, wake surfing and jet skiing. Braeden and I talk about motorcycle racing in general, and in particular some of the challenges of the Corkscrew at the Laguna Seca Raceway, including his recent crash there during Sunday qualifying. Braeden survived the crash relatively unscathed and walked away with minor injuries. He expects to be able to race in the next MotoAmerica round, August 10-11 in Sonoma, CA. One of my goals in helping grow the sport of motorcycling, is to bring more attention to motorcycle racing, and in particular motorcycle racing in the US, with series such as MotoAmerica. Even if you don’t watch or follow motorcycle racing, or any form of racing, I think you will really enjoy learning from this amazingly talented and driven 19 year old racer from Canada. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I enjoyed doing it!
