Connacht aim to continue their home run in the EPCR European Challenge Cup on Saturday (12th April 2025) when they host Racing 92 in the quarter-final. They've only met once before when the French side squeezed out a 26-22 victory in the Champions Cup in December 2020, despite Connacht tries from Matt Healy, Alex Wootton and Conor Oliver. Victory will secure another home knockout game in May, before the team head off on their URC trip to South Africa. Connacht head coach Pete Wilkins has made three changes for their BKT United Rugby Championship trip to Munster on Saturday (11th May 2024) Peter Dooley, Paul Boyle and captain Jack Carty start. Two victories over Dragons and Zebre have pushed Connacht back up to sixth place on 44 points, nine behind third placed Munster. Jack Aungier's try on New Years Day was instrumental in Connacht winning 22-9 at Dexcom Stadium this season. But Munster are reigning United Rugby Championship title holders and beat Connacht 24-17 at home in November 2022. Connacht's Paul Boyle has told Galway Bay FM Sport that the Champions Cup is a completely different level for players and supporters. The back-rower was speaking at the launch of the Investec Champions Cup at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where the finals will be held next year. The Connacht management team have again opted to shuffle their squad for Monday night’s Guinness PRO14 season finale against Scarlets in Llanelli (k/o 20:00). The side is captained by Paul Boyle in a back row that also features Conor Oliver and Abraham Papali’i. Gavin Thornbury and Niall Murray continue their second row partnership after impressive showings last weekend, and a front row of Jordan Duggan, Shane Delahunt and Jack Aungier completes the pack. Kieran Marmion is retained at scrum-half with Conor Fitzgerald alongside him, and there are no changes at 12, 13 or 14 which are filled by Tom Daly, Academy centre Sean O’Brien and winger Ben O’Donnell. Alex Wootton is named on the opposite wing with John Porch completing the side from full-back. Galway native Dylan Tierney-Martin could be in line to make his Connacht pro debut, with the hooker named among the replacements.
