In the pod squad this week were Russ, Pete, Alan and our latest debutant Lincoln Pigman, a self-described Johnny come lately who has timed his choosing of a football club with uncanny aplomb! The quartet discuss the felling of confirmed champs Liverpool in style on Monday night, thanks in (final) part due to one half of a cousin combo of subs: Jack Hinshelwood. The other half of that combo was (even) young(er) Harry Howell from Albion's academy. What a time to make your debut in the stripes! Also under the spotlight was the rest of the PL action, the play offs, P*lace's Europa ‘complication', Albion transfer news (Boscagli on his way to us!!!), Sky Sports' ever increasing saturation coverage of the PL and a look ahead to Albion's final game of the season at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where the club seek the point or more needed to fulfil their part in a four-pronged set of required outcomes to get them that second bite at European football for next season. Stand or fall! UTA! And come on Villa, Forest and then next week, er, Chelsea *cringe Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
pWotD Episode 2941: Tottenham Hotspur F.C. Welcome to Popular Wiki of the Day, spotlighting Wikipedia's most visited pages, giving you a peek into what the world is curious about today. With 167,514 views on Wednesday, 21 May 2025 our article of the day is Tottenham Hotspur F.C..Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, commonly referred to as simply Tottenham (, TOT-ən-əm, , tot-nəm) or Spurs, is a professional football club based in Tottenham, North London, England. The club itself has stated that it should always be called "Tottenham Hotspur" or "Spurs", as Tottenham is the area of London and not the name of the club. It competes in the Premier League, the top tier of English football. The team have played their home matches in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since 2019, replacing their former home of White Hart Lane, which had been demolished to make way for the new stadium on the same site.Founded in 1882, Tottenham Hotspur's emblem is a cockerel standing upon a football, with the Latin motto Audere est Facere ("to dare is to do"). The team have traditionally worn white shirts and navy blue shorts as their home kit since the 1898–99 season. Their training ground is on Hotspur Way in Bulls Cross, Enfield. After its inception, Tottenham won the FA Cup for the first time in 1901, the only non-League club to do so since the formation of the Football League in 1888. Tottenham was the first club in the 20th century to achieve the League and FA Cup Double, winning both competitions in the 1960–61 season. After successfully defending the FA Cup in 1962, in 1963 they became the first British club to win a UEFA club competition – the European Cup Winners' Cup. They were also the inaugural winners of the UEFA Cup in 1972, becoming the first British club to win two different major European trophies. They collected at least one major trophy in each of the six decades from the 1950s to 2000s, an achievement matched only by Manchester United. In domestic football, Spurs have won two league titles, eight FA Cups, four League Cups, and seven FA Community Shields. In European football, they have won one European Cup Winners' Cup and three UEFA Cup/Europa League titles. Tottenham were also runners-up in the 2018–19 UEFA Champions League. They have a long-standing rivalry with nearby club Arsenal, with whom they contest the North London derby, as well as a contested rivalry with Chelsea. Tottenham is owned by ENIC Group, which purchased the club in 2001. The club was estimated to be worth £2.6 billion ($3.2 billion) in 2024, and it was the ninth-highest-earning football club in the world, with an annual revenue of £615 million in 2024.This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 02:24 UTC on Thursday, 22 May 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Tottenham Hotspur F.C. on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Niamh.

Arsenal stumbled – again. Manchester United were average – again. So, which teams do deserve the prime time 4pm Sunday slot? Spurs v Bournemouth put on a good show at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Bournemouth are a swash buckling side, will they be able to hold on to their star players? For Ange Postecoglou, the path to making something of this season is getting narrower, are the players still playing for him? Nottingham Forest notched a “seismic” win against top four rivals Man City. Has anyone done better transfer business and might they have three players in the next England squad. Talking of Champions League…what's the point of getting into it if you don't' do anything in it…?Alyson met up with David Brookes who has recovered from stage two Hodgkin's lymphoma. And, is it time to feel sorry for Erling Haaland..? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
A point gained? Or two points dropped? Thanks to Andoni Iraola, Bournemouth fans sense the latter. On Sunday, Cherries travelled to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to face the Lilywhites in buoyant mood thanks to the levels of expectation set by our Basque boss. Whilst Bournemouth's Premier League form has been shaky of late, there still remain great expectations for this season, and the pre-match chatter amongst Boscombe fans suggested that this match-up in North London would be pivotal to that. Whilst game ended with a "creditable" 2-2, Cherries fans came away deflated - a feeling that is, by it's own admission, an acknowledgement and realisation that Iraola continues to raise the bar - after all, a point at Spurs is superb right? Are we wrong to feel frustrated or even miffed by dropping points?! Sam and Tom discuss the finer details... Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms. Tottenham beat Manchester United 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, completing the double over them for the first time since 1989-90 season. James Maddison grabbed the winner and shushed the camera, a fitting response to Roy Keane's criticism earlier this week. Ange Postecoglou's side keeps climbing the table, while United's struggles continue. How far have they fallen from the Ferguson era?Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/ruletheroost. Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Co-Hosts Jason McGovern, Russ Williams and returning Special Guest in Paul O Keefe as we discussed the final hours of the January transfer window as Mathys Tel is now a Tottenham Hotspur player after a dramatic turnaround on transfer deadline day. The talented attacker makes the move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium from Bayern Munich on a loan deal, which includes an option to buy. Spurs can make the move permanent in the summer with an option to buy for €55million (£45.7million). If Spurs do take up the option, Tel will sign a six-year contract at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Tel's Tottenham switch comes at the perfect time as the Lilywhites have two huge games on the calendar over the coming days as they take on Liverpool in the Carabao Cup and Aston Villa in the FA Cup. The attacker's first Premier League game for Spurs could come against Manchester United on Sunday, February 16. Liverpool were beaten 1-0 by Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night in the opening leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie. A solitary strike from Lucas Bergvall four minutes from the end of normal time settled the affair at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, leaving the hosts holding a slender advantage ahead of the Anfield return on the 6th of February. Coming up in this podcast, Arne Slot and Conor Bradley reflect on a frustrating night in the capital. Former Red Jason McAteer and LFC Women defender Gemma Bonner joined Becky Davis in the studio for LFCTV's post-match show. We were also joined by our fan panel contributors, Gareth Roberts, Ryan Paton, and Padraig Byrne from the Wexford Official LFC Supporters' Club, joined us remotely to give their thoughts on Liverpool's victory.

Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Compère Richard Cracknell, Broadcaster Russ Williams and Marlon Via Spurs Kings TV as Ange Postecoglou described it as a 'bridge too far' after Liverpool ran out 6-3 winners in Sunday's Premier League clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Liverpool took a grip on proceedings in the first half as they moved 2-0 and then 3-1 up. It was 5-1 by the hour and although we staged a fightback to make it 5-3 with goals from Deki Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke, the visitors had the final word as Luis Diaz completed the scoring five minutes from time. Billi (@SGPSoccer) breaks down the Premier League Matchday 15 slate, which will be headlined two derby clashes. The weekend opens up on Saturday with the final ever Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park, as Everton host leaders Liverpool. Meanwhile, on Sunday, the attention will turn to London, as second placed Chelsea travel to Tottenham. Tottenham have been a tough team to judge this season, and they are coming off a particularly abject performance in their midweek loss to Bournemouth. They could definitely be set for more misery against London rivals Chelsea on Sunday, who are the +110 ML favourites to take the points away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
