Bryson Stott scored the game winning run on a wild pitch as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Washington Nationals 7-6 in the first game of a three game series at Citizens Bank Park. Zack Wheeler was excellent, once again, but took a no decision after Orion Kerkering gave up a 3-run homerun to Nathanial Lowe in the top of the 9th. Johan Rojas and Trea Turner contribute offensively, but struggle defensively. The Phillies are now 16-13 and on a 3 game winning streak.
(0:00-12:56) The game against the Nationals last night was filled with dramatic twists, culminating in a wild pitch that allowed the winning run to score. We also discuss Rob Thomson's insights regarding Johan Rojas and his performance this season. (12:56-20:40) As the Phillies prepare to take the field in just a few hours, Ricky reveals the lineup, highlighting Bryson Stott in the leadoff position and Edmundo Sosa stepping in at third base for Alec Bohm, who is taking a day off. (20:40-30:58) Dave Zangaro joins the discussion to share his insights on the Eagles' decision to exercise the option on Jordan Davis, as well as the rationale behind their selections in the recent NFL Draft. (30:58-39:44) The latest Twitter poll indicates that the bullpen remains the primary concern among respondents. Additionally, we provide our insights on the recent interview conducted with Dave Zangaro. The Phillies had a chance to sweep the Marlins on Sunday, but the bullpen continues to be inconsistent to start 2025. Brooke Destra and Spencer McKercher are here to break down another series win, but left questioning what should have been a four-game win streak heading into a series with the Mets on Monday. #Phillies 1:25 - The Phillies bullpen has the second worst ERA in baseball6:38 - Meanwhile the offense is cooking early now10:34 - Johan Rojas and Bryson Stott both had great weekends at the plate19:14 - Zack Wheeler gets back on track on Friday23:49 - Now time to shift focus to going to Citi Field for a three-game series with the Mets
Francisco Rojas is back with a new episode of Phillies Today. He gives his takeaways from yesterday's loss to the Marlins and the three-game series overall. Also, he previews the next series that will be on the road against the New York Mets, who currently own first place in the N.L. East. Lastly, Francisco ends the show going around Major League Baseball and doing another edition of this day in Phillies history.
The Phillies get the split with Giants, and look ahead to a weekend set with the Marlins. There are high expectations for this club, coming off of three straight postseason appearances including one pennant. Still in the infancy stages of the 2025 season, the usual up and down performance from this group has continued to rear it's ugly head, yet they are presently neck and neck with the Mets for the NL East lead. The Phils are looking for back-to-back Division Flags. But it won't be easy. The questions in the outfield remain relevant and frequent. The revolving door of players seems to be on track to repeat itself again this offseason, regardless of the result. A major question is how the team will deploy some of their hot young prospects into the majors later in the year. The Eagles are 6 days away from the NFL Draft with a lot of capital and options, for a team that is still loaded despite the loss of some solid defenders. Howie Roseman could go quite a few ways in the 1st Round, including moving up to get a true impact player. The defending Super Bowl Champions have an open window to repeat the feat. The Philadelphia Phillies continue to struggle with runners in scoring position, going 1-11 last night in the series opening loss to the San Francisco Giants. Taijuan Walker had one bad inning that doomed his start, giving up six runs in the 2nd inning after Bryson Stott, Trea Turner and Nick Castellanos got the Phillies on the board the inning earlier. What does Rob Thomson do about the centerfield position with neither Brandon Marsh or Johan Rojas hitting?
Joe DeCamara is not a fan of Johan Rojas. What should the Phillies do?

Taking a look around MLB free agency this offseason, the center field group is severely lacking. Former New York Mets center fielder, Harrison Bader, is the best of the group, but the remaining names are not exciting. Is Philadelphia Phillies center fielder, Johan Rojas, the best option for the Phillies, assuming they do not make a trade this offseason? Plus, we discuss the latest in the evergrowing saga between Garrett Crochet and the Chicago White Sox.

Joe DeCamara says play Edmundo Sosa more and look into sending Stott to minors. Caller Scott would move Bryce Harper to leadoff.

The Phillies have been looking for a right-handed-hitting outfielder for months. They got their man on Friday, when they acquired Austin Hays from the Orioles for Seranthony Domínguez and Cristian Pache.First reactions following the deal?Well, the Phillies didn't give up a single prospect, meaning they still have plenty of quality players to deal to get a big bullpen arm.By trading Domínguez, the Phillies opened the door to acquiring more than one bullpen arm for the stretch drive.By acquiring Hays, Brandon Marsh could see more time in center field with Johan Rojas.Ruben, Jim and Todd break down the Hays deal, and what might be coming next for Dave Dombrowski and the rest of the Phillies' front office before Tuesday's 6 p.m. ET trade deadline. You can watch the show on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ThePhilliesShowKeep up with the show here:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thephilliesshow/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thephilliesshowX: https://twitter.com/thephilliesshowThreads: https://www.threads.net/@thephilliesshowFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61559185425483If you like us, give us a review!

Take 10 with Tim – June 21, 20241. The injuries have been brutal of late. What is your advice for managers who have been kicked in the teeth multiple times this season with the loss of, just not fifth outfielder, put first, second, and third-round picks?2. Mookie Betts will be out for 6 to 8 weeks with a fractured hand. This opens up an opportunity for a player to step up. Who do you think will seize this chance and make a significant impact?3. Kyle Bradish will have Tommy John Surgery. This should secure Cade Povich for the rest of the season. How good can he be this year and in the future?4. Bo Bichette hits the IL with a calf strain. While it doesn't sound too bad, that doesn't seem to be the case this season. Orelvis Martinez gets his chance. Does he hit? Does he stick?5. Christian Encarnacion Strand might need season-ending surgery. Noelvi Marte should be finishing his 80-game suspension soon, as the Reds have played 75 games this year. Is he the answer for playing time there. Should fantasy managers be excited by the potential?6. Anthony Rizzo is out for two months with a fractured arm. Ben Rice has been promoted and will get the strong side of the platoon. Should fantasy managers be excited about this?7. Justin Verlander hits the IL with neck soreness. It might not be too long, but the Astros are out of pitchers. What will they do? Is there anything of interest for fantasy managers?8. Yimi Garcia hits the IL with a nerve issue in his elbow. I've heard of no time frame for his return. Who is the pickup for saves now in Toronto?9. As expected, Mike Trout is healing slower than anticipated. It's really interesting that some people heal faster than others. I remember when Albert Puljos broke his arm and spent the minimum time on the IL (15 days). Trout appears to be on the opposite side of that equation. Not a criticism, just an observation and a disappointment to his fantasy managers. Thoughts?10. Tyler Black has been promoted back to the Brewers. Does he get enough playing time to be relevant for fantasy managers?11. Johan Rojas was demoted earlier this week when the Phillies activated Trea Turner from the IL. Were you surprised that Rojas got demoted? They kept Mickey Moniak, Christian Pache, and David Dahl. Sure, they were all of out options, but really?12. The Mets are playing much better, and arguably, Christian Scott, their best pitcher, was sent back to the minors and continues to pitch well. What am I missing?13. What hitter are you targeting for this weekend's FAAB?14. What pitcher are you targeting for this weekend's FAAB?
With Trea Turner back, someone had to go, and it's Johan Rojas, who was optioned to the minors. Who were other candidates to open up a space for Turner? Mike Missanelli discusses that and interviews "Go Birds" singer Holdyn Barder.
