It all started with one trip to Pinball Expo—just one. I came back home, bought my first machine, and from that moment on, it's been all pinball, all the time. Machines have come and gone, and through the years, I've learned a lot about what I love in a game and what just doesn't stick. But here's the problem: I still struggle with deciding what stays and what goes. With limited space and an endless list of games I want to own, it's a constant battle. In this episode, I take a deep dive into my current collection, the games that didn't make the cut, and whether I regret letting any of them go. If you've ever wrestled with tough pinball choices, this one's for you! Let's talk collecting, decision-making, and the never-ending search for the perfect lineup. This month's PINcast comes from the Dutch Pinball Open Expo and marks a unique moment as, for the first time ever, Jonathan from Pinball Magazine and Martin from Pinball News present their monthly Pinball Industry News PINcast while actually together at the same desk. Plus, they bring in two special guests, with David van Es from Barrels of Fun and Daniel Janson from Pinball Brothers, both of whom have some exciting news to share. However, as you'll hear, not everything went entirely to plan. October's Pinball Industry News largely revolved around the 40th anniversary Pinball Expo, the manufacturers stands, their seminar presentations and their factory tours. Dutch Pinball Exclusive, having revealed their Alice's Adventures in Wonderland title earlier in the month, premiered the now sold-out game at Pinball Expo with three machines on their stand for guests to play, and also held a seminar about the making of the game. Meanwhile, Stern Pinball, off the back of announcing their The Uncanny X-Men brought out another new title with Metallica Remastered – an updated and enhanced version of their 2013 Metallica game. They premiered this on their Pinball Expo factory tour and then brought it to their stand at the show, along with a seminar by the game's designer John Borg. There were multiple talks at Pinball Expo from the pinball makers explaining how they created their latest releases, including Avatar: The Battle for Pandora, The Uncanny X-Men, John Wick and Jaws, along with tours of Stern Pinball, Jersey Jack Pinball, American Pinball and Chicago Gaming. Naturally, Jonathan and Martin were both there to report on the excitement and bring you video recordings of the key seminars. Then, a fortnight later, they reunited in Veldhoven in the Netherlands for the 25th anniversary Dutch Pinball Open Expo from where they recorded this latest October 2024 edition of the Pinball Magazine and Pinball News PINcast – the podcast the pinball industry listens to. Unfortunately, without access to their normal recording equipment, the quality of the sound isn't up to their usual standard, but they hope you can bear with them for this one-off special recording. You can grab it right now from your favourite podcast supplier, find it on YouTube and YouTube Music, or get it direct from Spotify on the link above, and don't forget you can also subscribe to the PINcast to guarantee you get the freshest episode every month the very moment it is published. As you'll hear, there is so much happening in the pinball industry right now and coming up very soon, so make sure you join Jonathan and Martin each month to ensure you don't miss any of it.

Can you believe it's already the start of another new month? The good news is that a new month means a new Pinball Industry News PINcast with Jonathan Joosten from Pinball Magazine and Martin Ayub from Pinball News. Having covered the first few days of the month in the previous PINcast, the duo look back on all the excitement from the pinball world throughout the remainder of September. After numerous teases, Jersey Jack Pinball finally announced their tenth game with the launch of Avatar: The Battle for Pandora. Featuring six flippers, three under-playfield areas and numerous wireforms criss-crossing the playfield, perhaps the greatest innovation is the use of UV-reactive ink across the playfield, plastics, inserts and sculpts. There's also a first-time pinball artist who created the playfield, cabinet and backbox art package, as well as a musician who composed the music for his first ever production pinball. To find out much more about them and the rest of the game, Jonathan and Martin are joined by the game's designer, Mark Seiden. Having launched their latest title just a few days earlier, Stern Pinball have been busy building and promoting their The Uncanny X-Men with video streams of gameplay along with a number of changes based on audience feedback. The company has been busy in Europe too, attending the IAAPA Europe event en masse, as well as hosting an evening with Gary Stern at the Dutch Pinball Museum. October is Pinball Expo month, so this latest PINcast looks ahead at what we can expect from all the major players at the show. There's also full details of the extensive seminar schedule and how you can get to enjoy all the main talks even if you can't be there in person. There's news about the debut of Homepin's new The Blues Brothers game, who has signed an exclusivity agreement with Spooky Pinball, when you can see and play DPX's new Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, who is manufacturing what, and why it looks like your final chance to get one of these titles before it is discontinued. Get all this and so very much more in this latest September 2024 edition of the Pinball Magazine and Pinball News PINcast – the podcast the pinball industry listens to. Grab it right now from your favourite podcast supplier, find it on YouTube and YouTube Music, or get it direct from Spotify on the link above, and don't forget to subscribe to the PINcast to guarantee you get the freshest episode every month, the very moment it is published. The start of another new month means it's time to join Jonathan Joosten from Pinball Magazine and Martin Ayub from Pinball News for their look back at all the exciting news from the pinball world throughout March in their Pinball Industry News PINcast. There are two new games to discuss this month – one already launched and one about to be revealed – plus a radical update to another new title. American Pinball released their latest title with a tribute to legendary pinball designer, Barry Oursler, in their Barry O's Barbecue Challenge game. A dozen models were shipped to locations across the US for public play the day following the reveal, after which it became the star of American Pinball's stand at the Texas Pinball Festival. Just as this month's PINcast was being recorded, Pinball Brothers confirmed that their third game title would be based on the hugely-popular Swedish band ABBA. A full reveal is coming shortly, while there will be a launch party to mark exactly 50 years to the day since the group was launched onto the global stage by winning the Eurovision Song Contest. There's also much more news from Pinball Brothers with some personnel changes at the very top of the company. While not announcing their next game just yet, Dutch Pinball celebrate a milestone by launching a new offshoot called Dutch Pinball Exclusive (DPX) to produce short-run titles of 500 or fewer units. It hasn't been officially confirmed, but the likely first DPX title is discussed along with potential timescales for production. Last month there was news of a record-breaking auction price for a Jersey Jack Pinball Elton John Collector's Edition machine, but this month that record was itself smashed. Get all the details. Turner Pinball returned to the Texas Pinball Festival with a very different look to their Ninja Eclipse game, taking onboard much of the feedback from their appearance at Pinball Expo last October. Find out what's new and how the game plays as part of the extensive TPF 2024 show coverage. All this and much, much more is packed into this latest edition of the Pinball Industry News PINcast. Ensure you haven't missed out on any of the excitement by streaming or downloading the podcast the pinball industry listens to. Grab the latest edition of the Pinball Magazine and Pinball News PINcast from your favourite podcast supplier or get it direct from Spotify on the link above, and don't forget to subscribe to the PINcast to guarantee you get the freshest episode each month just as soon as it is published. What a month! There was a ton of news from the pinball world throughout October, so join Jonathan Joosten from Pinball Magazine and Martin Ayub from Pinball News as they bring you bang up-to-date with all the new games, companies, products, code, and much more. Of course, October's pinball news was dominated by the events in and around Pinball Expo. An evening of food, drinks and gameplay followed by the first tour of Stern Pinball's new factory kicked off the show in style. The huge show hall featured just about all the main players in the pinball business with their latest offerings, while upstairs guests could enjoy an exhausting forty-seven seminars and two movie screenings stretching over three days. There were several stars of the show, but only one true superstar – Elton John. Jersey Jack Pinball launched their spectacular ninth title at Pinball Expo, with three Elton John machines available to play, first at their seminar reveal and then on their stand. Talking of reveals, the ‘Mystery Pinball Company' revealed themselves as Barrels of Fun, and they revealed their first game as Labyrinth, based on the David Bowie fantasy movie of the same name. Looking to all the world as though they've been building pinballs for years, this start-up put on a very professional launch for their new company and new game. There were also soft launches for the Ninja Eclipse game from Turner Pinball which featured a number of innovative (and sometimes controversial) design elements, and the game Elements from Pinball Adventures, with further development expected on both these titles before they go into production. Meanwhile, Pinball Brothers were showing their new Ellen Ripley version of Alien, a new animated topper for the game and new backglass artwork for their Queen game. American Pinball brought together the four main cast members from their Galactic Tank Force game, first for a seminar and then – in full costume – for an autograph session in the main hall. There's also a report from a visit to the American Pinball factory with a behind-the-scenes preview what's coming up from the company. There was much more to report from the show, but it's not all Pinball Expo this month. There's also news of new game price cuts, charitable donations, upcoming show appearances, upcoming court appearances, new game teases, a new book, new pinball artwork, plus all the latest code updates. It's all packed into this month's brand new, extended PINcast, so make sure you haven't missed out on any of the excitement from the pinball world by listening to the podcast the pinball industry listens to. Grab the latest edition of the Pinball Magazine and Pinball News PINcast from your favourite podcast supplier or direct from Spotify on the link above, and don't forget to subscribe to guarantee you get the freshest episodes just as soon as they are published.
