Chicago band Lollygagger (Matt, Michael & Kinsey) and Chris from family-run kitchen Bizarro & Son joined me the night before Labor Day for a fun (and funny) chat about food and music (the Car Con Carne cornerstones). We talked about the delicious food Chris makes for Bizarro & Son as we ate “Lollygagger” tortas. Mexican fusion? Yes, please. We also talked about the fantastic new Lollygagger album, “Total Party Kill,” featuring instant classics “Sick Semper,” “My Boss is a Dick” and “Liar's Club.” About Liar's Club… we couldn't resist the tie-in, so we recorded this one right in front of Liar's Club. See Lollygagger play as part of Punk the Burbs at Basecamp in Lisle on 9/30. Eat Bizarro & Son's food at Rock Island Public House in Blue Island! Now is the time to go solar! We're chilling on the patio of Flossmoor Station Brewing Company next to their soon-to-open caboose bar and tasting new summer brews. Recorded at a 9-foot homemade oak bar in a basement on the South Side of Chicago. Let's talk food, drink, concerts, events and local news. "Some kind of instinct. Memory of what they used to do. This was an important place in their lives." The original "Dawn of the Dead" is screening in two midnight shows at Music Box Theatre this weekend. You can't see it on any streaming service, and it demands to be seen on the big screen. To talk about the history and virtues of Dawn of the Dead is cinephile, celebrated bartender (Rock Island Public House) and beloved podcast guest Mike Vanderbilt.
Hey Sox fans! We are joined by Sean Anderson from The Locked on Sox podcast and The Score 670. We talk with Sean about the importance of spending premium money to help fill the remaining holes on this Sox roster with premium talent once the lockout ends. Where will Andrew Vaughn play this season and why Kyle Schwarber can be the answer at DH? Is Jake Burger really going to be spending time at second base in 2022 for the Sox and how excited should we be about the impending Oscar Colas signing? Also, we have a big announcement about hosting live and in-person White Sox trivia this March at Rock Island Public House. Local, fan-centric Chicago White Sox chatter. This week we have a very special bonus episode for our listeners. Given that we're all trapped in our homes with the shelter in place orders in full effect, we're missing socializing and seeing our friends lovely faces. We had the idea of doing Skype table reads of classic horror movies, but that idea was one-upped by Mike Vanderbilt and Nat Brehmer by settling on reading some of the great unmade horror movie scripts. For our first time out, Jerry brought MAXIMUM KING to the table. It the kinda true, kinda exaggerated, you had to be there story about Stephen King's disastrous attempt at directing Maximum Overdrive. It has everything: cocaine, killer trucks, boozy binges, heavy metal, steamy sex, cocaine, people losing eyeballs on set due to gross negligence, cocaine, Cujo, cute kids, a heart warming reunion and cocaine. If you like what you heard, and have a couple bucks to spare, please donate to the Rock Island Public House go fund me, where our stage director Mike Vanderbilt tends bar. As we all know, this pandemic has affected hundreds of thousands of servers, waitstaff, kitchen help and bartenders that rely on our patronage to keep them afloat. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks to our cast: Nat Brehmer: Stephen King Izzy Lee: Tabitha King, Joe Hill Jerry Smith: Emilio Estevez Mike Vanderbilt: stage director Jacob Davidson: Dino Delaurentis Johnny Donalson: Armando Nannuzzi Veronica Maitland: Laura Harrington Grace Sobieralski: Demi Moore, Annie Wilkes, Naomi King, Carrie & Margaret White Brian Keiper: Dan Jenson, Angus Young, Camerman, Executives + various Mike Snoonian: Jack Torrance, Brian Johnson & various

This week on Drinks On Monday, Mark and and Jeffery of These Old Men They Play Records stop by the kitchen to partake in some taste testing. Mark paired up craft beers from some of his favorite Illinois-based breweries with some classic Girl Scout cookies from Thin Mints to Trefoils. The guys share with Dan and Mike about how their DJing gig got started with the help of The Rock Island Public House and also share their thoughts on Record Store Day, local favorite Beverly Records, and "vinyls."
Dan is back in the fold for this week's super-sized episode! This week, the boys discuss their Valentine's Day weekends and the geeky gatekeeping surrounding the release of DEADPOOL. The guys touch on which R-rated movies that they saw at the show when they were way too young. On the menu this week are craft beers supplied by the Blue Island Beer Co. including their collaborations with Underground Communique Records and The Rock Island Public House. The Strike Team also discuss THE X-FILES reboot as well as some of their favorite episodes as well as KOLCHACK: THE NIGHT STALKER, Chris Carter's inspiration for his '90s take on conspiracies and the paranormal. The guys also discuss some of their favorite conspiracy theories ranging from the Kennedy assassination to the "cold envelope" theory that changed the NBA. On the paranormal end, a caller east of the Rockies chimes in with an out of body experience. Bust out your tin-foil hat, and listen at your own risk. The truth is in the kitchen. Featuring music from Mark Snow, Mike Donnelly, Icicle Works, Swag, and Ke$ha.
