Beachman: From Dream to RealityOn this TALKdesign Episode, Ben Taylor and Steve Payne from Beachman share their inspiring entrepreneurial journey. Founded in 2016, Beachman Life began with Ben's vision for retro-inspired products. In 2019, he joined forces with Steve, a motorcycle mechanic, to create electric mopeds that combine accessibility with modern appeal. The idea was inspired by vintage designs and a passion for stylish, high-quality bikes. Ben's marketing and design expertise, coupled with Steve's technical skills, led to the creation of Beachman's first production bikes. They quickly moved from concept to prototype, showcasing their shared willingness to take risks. Steve built the initial prototype from a Kawasaki frame, and they collaborated with a factory in China to refine the design. Despite challenges like design theft, they focused on innovation and rapid production. Their initial risk, funded by Steve's home mortgage line of credit, paid off when they quickly sold their first 30 bikes, leading to a successful crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.Beachman faced significant challenges, such as supply chain disruptions, but persevered, expanding into a larger warehouse. Their commitment to authenticity and brand values remains steadfast, ensuring each new product aligns with their vision of a life well lived. Future plans include expanding into North America and Europe, and developing unique lifestyle accessories and electric car conversions, all while maintaining their core ethos.Tune in for a fascinating episode with Ben Taylor & Steve Payne. Multiplayer - Cosmic Quest from the 2022 self-released album Multiplayer. Matt Williams is a Seattle-based, Phoenix-bred, Kansas City-born pianist and vibraphonist who has worked with a seemingly endless amount of names in multiple jazz communities, many of which might only be familiar to niche jazz aficionados but carry a heavy mantle of respectability. His latest project Multiplayer is an improvisational project that feels both modern and nostalgic. Our Song of the Day, “Cosmic Quest,” comes from his recently-released debut self-titled album and very much feels like one searching the galaxy for something more. With a sparse synth-fueled start, the song's unhurried build feels like a floating object just searching for some purpose. Things tighten up quickly, as the target is acquired and, while we may not feel like we're moving at the speed of light, we're still boldly going where no man has gone before. Hello dears! I've been on a hiatus! A much-needed spontaneous recuperation session. I've been hiding out with friends and family before my big move down to Los Angeles. I've been rooting myself in my yoga practices, yard dances, reading, writing, and the frequent tearful friend call as I've been processing a dizzying amount of change. But enough on that. Today's episode is the SEASON TWO FINALE sponsored by the What the Hell is Up Live Show from July 2nd at Cafe Racer. That night, I discussed the story of a star whilst surrounded by stars. Turns out we are all always surrounded by stars in one way or another. Sometimes it might just be a bit harder to see them due to light pollution, smoke, or unrelenting distraction. May we always see ourselves as stars and recognize the starry-qualities in those around us. Thanks for tuning in. You're a star and I love you. Hello ModernJeepers welcome to Episode 162 of The ModernJeeper Show… the show about Jeeps, Jeeping and Jeepers. Things are always happening in the world of the ModernJeeper... last week we were in Moab and this week Matson is back at MetalCloak World Headquarters while Corey & Jessy are on the road heading to Oklahoma City for a CTI Tour Stop on their way to Jeep Beach in Daytona Florida. Event season is in full force! And no one knows it better than our guest this week, friend, ModernJeeper, journalist, gearhead and all-around off-road Guru, Sean Holman, the head of the Truck Group at Motortrend and host of the hugely popular Truck Show Podcast. Sean shares a multitude of stories including the benefits of Moab, falling gracefully into off road journalism, turning a Sportster into a Cafe Racer, building a modern Flatty, how a podcast about trucks led to visiting a Boomer submarine, driving Jeep's concept rigs [including what his favorite one is of all time], how he snagged a 4xe Grand Cherokee for his wife, and building a 1960 Bug for his daughter... kind of. And he even tries to give Matson some encouragement that one day he, too might be famous enough to drive a Concept Jeep.
