Lynlea Rudell talks dyslexia and discipline. Imagine a world where things are upside down, inside out and backwards for you while others see, hear and comprehend things in a straight line. That's what dyslexia feels like some times. Now imagine having to navigate school and work through the lens of dyslexia. According to Lynlea, because she is driven to excel, dyslexia caused her to work hard and be disciplined. Attributes that have taken her far in life and business. Lynlea is a true water baby. She has been swimming since a very early age. Then a competitive swimmer. Later coach to a swim team taking them to a state championship. Suffice it to say it did not come as a surprise that she decided while completing her MBA that she wanted to work with a ‘water-based' company. For this reason and many more Pool Scouts is a perfect fit. Lynlea Rudell, the Director of Marketing for Pool Scouts joins special guest co-host Stacie Shannon, entrepreneurship advocate, franchise broker and the host of The Franchise Life podcast and Rebecca Monet on this episode of The Franchise Woman podcast: Where Passion & Purpose Collide. Listen in to full interview here.

In this week's episode of the "Power Kid Podcast," host Phil Albritton of Power Kid Design speaks with prolific toy and game designer Elliot Rudell. Rudell Design has been in business since 1975 and has been responsible for the development and licensing of products that have generated millions for the toy industry. The success of Rudell's toys and games, including Splash Out, Upwards, Wet Head, GeoTrax, GlowDome, and Weebles led to his induction into Hasbro's Toy Inventor Hall of Fame in 2001. On the show, Rudell discusses how his “whimsical graphic flare” landed him his first job and early success at Mattel and the development of Upwards. Additionally, Rudell offers advice for young inventors and explains the importance of a passionate pitch. Finally, Albritton and Rudell discuss the recent partnership between Rudell Design and Far Out Toys to create products inspired by pocket.watch's massively successful Ryan's World brand. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/adventuremedia/message
Found in Bob's personal LP collection, this singular recording reprises the style of the radio show: girl singer with Bob, Jud De Naut on bass, and (in this case) Don Beamsley on piano and tack piano. Though an accomplished and busy club singer, our research found this recording and no others available, making this a rare touchstone to an era of torchy chanteuses. The liner notes mention "clever special material written exclusively for her" which must mean Jud's two tunes were written with her in mind. Bob's copy was signed on the back by everyone: "To Bob-With deep appreciation for your wonderful efforts for us. Love, June", and "For Robert [struck through] Furnace Furniss Bain. Frankly, I'm a little bored with the big reputation you have built for yourself in music. Actually to me you are nothing but a run of the mill genius. XXX Jud" and finally "Me Too. Don". Clearly they had a good time making this record. There were a pair of Gourmet Restaurants, in Hollywood and in Beverly Hills, and the owners took a gamble and opened a third restaurant adjacent to Disneyland as part of the Disneyland Hotel complex in 1956. June Rudell had a long engagement in the lounge (which sat 650), and so this recording may reflect her many solid hours of dates there. Gourmet lovers rejoice!
Film producers Tom McCabe and Kirk Rudell (“Soccertown USA”) join the podcast this week to discuss their newly released documentary about the modest working-class New Jersey town with an outsized influence on the history of the sport of soccer in the United States. In the mid-1980s, as the domestic pro game began to fade with the demise of the once-hot North American Soccer League, and FIFA’s passing over of the US as potential replacement host for the 1986 World Cup – it was three kids from largely-unheralded Kearny, NJ who helped save it. Native sons Tab Ramos, John Harkes, and Tony Meola – who formed the backbone of a Men’s National Team that willed its way to breakthrough success in both the 1990 and 1994 World Cups, and laid the groundwork for the pro game’s rebirth in 1996 with the launch of Major League Soccer – were products of a uniquely rich soccer-passionate culture dating back to the town’s Scottish immigrant influx in the 1870s. Kearny’s storied heritage as a fertile American soccer hotbed – spirited factory-sponsored leagues, ASL cup-winning “pro” teams, strong youth programs, a vibrant street-soccer scene, and even local heroes in the 1970s NASL (including a member of the mighty New York Cosmos virtually next door) – not only nurtured these three pioneers of the game, but also continue to help inspire future generations to play and support the “beautiful game.”
I was lucky enough to be able to sit down in-person with both two amazing leaders - Andrea Markstrom (CIO at Blank Rome) and Meredith Lonner (Administrator at Franklin, Weinrib, Rudell & Vassallo). Andrea and Meredith are from very different firms, not just in the type of law they practice, but also more obviously, the size. There were plenty of contrasts between how Meredith and Andrea approach similar topics, such as looking at technology, working with the partnership, and even how they found themselves to be in legal. However, (and perhaps surprisingly) there were similarities also and I walked away from the conversation with plenty of learnings.

Oprah recently called Hunter's guest, Sarah Rudell Beach a "mindfulness guru," with her popular blog, Left Brain Buddha. There this teacher and mom of two little ones writes about the challenges and riches in her journey to live and parent mindfully. Sarah's journey to mindfulness began after she suffered from post-partum depression. She started practicing meditation and found that it not only cured her depression, but affected every area of her life. Sarah talks to Hunter about how mindfulness has affected her parenting, giving her that essential pause, so that she can respond rather than react. You MUST listen for the brilliant question that she asks her child in moments of conflict! I'm certainly applying this one in my own life. Find Sarah at her popular blog Left Brain Buddha and her mindfulness in education site, Brilliant Mindfulness. Do you want a mindfulness practice in your own life? Get started with my new 10-Day Mindfulness Challenge for parents. You will get guided meditations, daily inspiration, and a live coaching call to support you! CLICK HERE to join. There's no cost and it will run from September 12-21, 2016
Dan Wasser has a combination of extensive entertainment law experience and a background in corporate and securities law that enables him to work with clients on a broad range of business and legal issues. In addition to counseling clients as part of the firm’s theatrical practice, Dan also works with entertainment industry clients in connection with matters such as mergers and acquisitions and employment agreement for senior executives in public and private companies. It’s a fascinating time in the legal world of Broadway shows, particularly in the area of how money is raised for Broadway shows. That’s why I picked one of the experts in our industry on financing for this episode, Daniel M. Wasser of Franklin, Weinrib, Rudell & Vassallo! I’ve worked with Dan for over a decade, and he has given me some fantastic advice over the years. But one of my favorites is this ol’ chestnut about what an attorney’s actual function is. In other words, they’ve got your back if you’re a massive hit or a massive flop. Listen to some more of Dan’s advice on this episode, like: When a Producer should hire an attorney. Could the movie model of paying artists work on Broadway? The most important part of any negotiation. The 3 Ways the JOBS Act could revolutionize Broadway fundraising. This section of the episode is perhaps the most comprehensive explanation of the JOBS Act including crowdfunding and how it relates to us out there.
