On Monday's Mark Levin Show, the battle begins Tuesday with the hearings for President-Elect Trump's cabinet posts. Every one of Trump's nominees must be confirmed. These hearings will be a test of the Republican Senate majority. If the GOP Senate majority will not confirm Trump's cabinet nominees, then those who vote no must be primaried and defeated. The GOP owes its majority to Trump and his landslide victory. Sen Chuck Schumer has made clear he wants to use the nomination process to weaken Trump and sabotage his entire agenda. Schumer and his thugs must be put in their place, they must be crushed, and their sickening character assassination tactics must be exposed and defeated. The Senate Democrats will go over the allegations against Pete Hegseth not because they believe them, but because it is what they do -- the Senate Democrats are perversely obsessed with sex as a weapon against GOP nominees. The goal is to smear, humiliate, destroy. Later, the Democrats are now starting – rather than change course and apologize for the wildfires in California, they whine about Trump. Gov Gavin Newsom should worry about his state, not Trump. Also, President Biden is taking credit for the achievements of others like Benjamin Netanyahu and the IDF. Biden undermined Israel every step of the way. If there is a hostage deal it's thanks to Trump and Netanyahu. Afterward, Florida's legislative leaders Daniel Perez and Ben Albritton are typical do-nothing Republicans. They are opposing Gov Ron DeSantis's call for a special session to deal with the deportation of illegal aliens and further hurricane relief. All Floridians should get involved on these two huge issues, call your state reps and state senators, call Perez and Albritton, and insist that they act immediately. Learn more about your ad choices. What do corporate communications leaders know about the businesses they serve? Chances are they know quite a lot. They know the stories, the narratives, and the CEO's various points of view; they know the strategies, the values, and the culture; they know the audiences and stakeholders and (should) how to calm them in times of crisis; sometimes they know where all the bodies are buried and which closets hold the most skeletons. Their job is, fundamentally, to know things. But do they understand The Business? Do they understand balance sheets? Do they speak the language of financial performance? Do they grasp everything in the Annual Report? Some do, but many still don't. How can they become the trusted advisors their companies and clients need, especially in these challenging and changing times? In this episode of The Trending Communicator, host Dan Nestle reconnects with David Albritton, the former Naval Intelligence officer who built a stunning career in Communications before becoming an executive coach and strategic advisor. Currently Managing Director at CRA, David may be the only person to have made the leap from PR flack to global CEO (at least according to Dan), giving him a unique perspective on the need for communicators to develop business acumen and leadership skills to build thriving careers. Even in the age of AI. As the world grapples with the implications of AI, misinformation, and shifting workplace dynamics, David shares his perspective on what it means to be a communicator today. He emphasizes the importance of building authentic relationships, understanding the business beyond the communications function, and the critical role of communicators as strategic advisors. David also discusses his journey to becoming a board member at Embecta and the unique skills communicators can bring to the table in these roles. He highlights the necessity for communicators to be business partners first, leveraging their unique position to influence and drive organizational success. He and Dan spend some time on the impact of AI on personal and professional development, revealing insights into how communicators can use these tools to enhance their understanding of business operations and improve their strategic influence. Whether you're a seasoned communications professional or just starting your career, this episode offers valuable lessons on leadership, the evolving role of communications, and the skills needed to thrive in today's fast-paced environment. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from one of the leading voices in strategic communications. Listen in and hear about... The evolving role of communications professionals in the face of AI, misinformation, and declining institutional trust. Insights into the unique challenges and opportunities for communicators seeking board positions. The importance of building authentic relationships in hybrid and remote work environments. Strategies for communicators to become trusted business partners and influence organizational success. How generative AI can enhance personal career growth and understanding of business operations. The enduring qualities of effective leadership amidst technological and societal changes. Notable Quotes "COVID changed the world in terms of what we accept in terms of how we engage with people. It all really comes down to relationships—who knows you, who do you know, do they trust you, do they have confidence in your abilities?" - David Albritton [10:34] "If we only think about our value proposition through the lens of communications, we are failing the organization and ourselves. We need to become business partners who by the way, do communications." - David Albritton [16:26] "If you aspire for greatness going forward, then how are you sharing your voice in that room when you have the opportunity? That's a critical skill for communicators that we don't develop." - David Albritton [21:05] "I've been that person who comes into the room and is reluctant to offer an opinion or advice because they're talking about finance now, and I don't want to get over my skis." - Dan Nestle [22:01] "The preparation you put in before you get to the meeting is going to make all the difference in the world because now you're educated, now you're confident, now you can raise your hand and ask a smart question." - David Albritton [28:29] "Managing what people are saying about you when you're not in the room is hugely important for career growth." - David Albritton [41:54] "I believe that corporate structure itself is obsolete and doesn't know it yet." - Dan Nestle [47:12] Resources and Links Dan Nestle The Trending Communicator | Website Daniel Nestle | LinkedIn Dan Nestle | Twitter/X David Albritton David Albritton | LinkedIn CRA | Admired Leadership ALEX, the Virtual Leadership Coach Timestamped key moments from this episode (as generated by Fireflies.ai)

Florida's chapter of the Republican Party rallied together at its annual assembly last Friday, culminating in an endorsement for former President Donald Trump as their candidate of choice in the 2024 elections. This action can be seen as an echo of the growing support for Trump among Republicans who are looking forward to the impending 2024 primary. State party Chairman Evan Power, assessing the outcome of the caucuses and the primary in Iowa and New Hampshire, urged Republicans to unite, with the aim of thwarting President Joe Biden, whom Power perceives as leading a faltering administration. After thorough evaluation of the preliminary political scenarios in both Iowa and New Hampshire, Power opines that the Republican party's most likely nominee is Donald Trump. Several noteworthy figures, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Senator Marco Rubio, and Senator Rick Scott, have intervened with their individual entreaties to consolidate the support behind Trump. Their call for unity came in January. The heads of the Republican Party in Duval County, led by Chairman and Representative Dean Black, took the pivotal action of filing an endorsement for Trump. Dean Black declared that the Florida GOP has overcome the internal competition of primaries and is now presenting a consolidated front with Donald Trump as its supported candidate. In a clear critique of the current administration, Black states that the citizens of Florida cannot endure the purported uncertainty and ineffective governance under President Biden for another four years. Black made a stern call to halt what he perceives as the national downward spiral. This, he believes, necessitates the return of a powerful leader at the helm of the nation. Black further emphasized the need for a firm leader with a strong 'America First' approach, and in his view, that leader is unquestionably former President Trump. Trump celebrated a substantial win in the Iowa caucuses, championing with about 51% of votes, a clear dominating lead of nearly 30 percentage points. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, after a surprising second-place finish in the caucus that was higher than initially expected, withdrew his candidacy. DeSantis then officially endorsed Trump in his dropout speech. Notably, receiving about 21% of the vote was a significant accomplishment that further emphasized the preferences of Republican voters. DeSantis extended support towards Trump because, in his words, the party cannot revert to the politics of the old Republican guard. DeSantis publicly conveyed his endorsement to an eager public, emphasizing the need for a strong leader within the Republican Party. Trump held a gathering in New Hampshire only a few hours after DeSantis's decision to step down. There, the former president publicly acknowledged the Florida governor's contributions and extended warm congratulations, describing him as a 'terrific person'. Following the Florida Governor's withdrawal, Evan Power, the newly appointed chairman, corroborated the prevalent sentiment within the Republican party leadership by endorsing Donald Trump. Trump indeed seems to be consolidating his power base, drawing in endorsements from eminent figures not just in Florida, but potentially across the nation. Trump has also been able to gain the support of other high-ranking Republican figures of Florida. This includes Florida Cabinet members like Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson, Attorney General Ashley Moody and Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, prominent figures in Florida's political scene. Florida House Speaker Paul Renner, known for his conservative stands, has also announced his endorsement for Trump. Renner, an influential figure from Palm Coast, has been a longtime member of the Republican party and his backing adds to Trump's growing list of supporters. Adding to the momentum, Kathleen Passidomo, the current President of Florida Senate and a Republican from Naples, has also announced her support for Trump's candidacy. Passidomo's endorsement is quite significant, reflecting the broad array of support Trump has garnered within the party. Florida House Speaker-Designate, Daniel Perez, an emerging Republican leader from Miami, is another prominent figure to publicly endorse Trump. Perez's endorsement showcases the intrigue of younger Republicans in aligning with Trump's vision for America's future. Another valuable endorsement comes from the Florida Senate President-Designate Ben Albritton, a representative from Bartow. Albritton's public endorsement of Trump underscores the common sentiment in Florida's Republican leadership seeking a return to traditional conservative governing principles. RELATED:Nikki Haley Calls Nevada ‘A Scam' and Claims ‘Trump Rigged It' In essence, Florida's Republican Party seems to be aligning behind Trump as the potential Republican candidate for the 2024 presidential election. Widespread endorsement from influential figures across Florida's Republican sphere further underscores Trump's significant stand within the party. This is particularly reflective of the Party's aim to push against the Biden administration in the bid to restore traditional conservative governance. Professors Albritton Jonsson and Wennerlind's recently published book, “Scarcity” by Harvard University Press, offers interpretations of a key concept in economic theory: scarcity, or the belief we live in a world of limited resources and therefore must master the natural world to meet desired needs. The authors state, “the book does not offer a critique of the usefulness of the neoclassical concept of scarcity, instead, the problem we highlight is that it has been far too successful,” that is “by promoting optimal use of resources and maximum economic growth, it has fostered a world in which the economy and nature are on a collision course.” As a result our economic success has endangered both our health and survival via the use of fossil fuels to power our economy. This 37-minute interview begins with brief descriptions of two umbrella categories of scarcity the authors define: Cornucopian; and, Finitarian. They identify subcategories within these two categories and thinkers throughout history who can be categorized into sub-categories of scarcity of, e.g., enlightened, capitalist and neoclassical and neo-Aristotelian, Utopian, Malthusian, Romantic, Socialist and Planetary. The authors comment on Diamandis and Kotler's argument regarding negativity bias. They discuss the benefit of taking a long view, here 500 years, to free today's thinkers of taking alternative views of the world to challenge current dominate neoclassical view of scarcity and economics and discuss the book concluding on the the concept of repair. Frederik Albritton Jonsson is an Associate Professor of History at the University of Chicago and Carl Wennerlind is a Professor of History and Chair of the History Department at Barnard College at Columbia University. In the latest episode of the "Power Kid Podcast," host Phil Albritton of Power Kid Design welcomes Leah Ringelstein, Director of Impact at Zigazoo to the show. Ringelstein is on the front lines of the world's biggest social media network for kids and leverages her background in classroom education and curriculum building in her work. Zigazoo has been designed to be a safe, positive, empowering online community where kids can create videos, enter challenges and win prizes. On the show, Ringelstein discusses the early stages of creating Zigazoo and shares how positivity and safety are built into the core of everything the company does. Scarcity: A History from the Origins of Capitalism to the Climate Crisis (Harvard UP, 2023) is a sweeping intellectual history of the concept of economic scarcity—its development across five hundred years of European thought and its decisive role in fostering the climate crisis. Modern economics presumes a particular view of scarcity, in which human beings are innately possessed of infinite desires and society must therefore facilitate endless growth and consumption irrespective of nature's limits. Yet as Fredrik Albritton Jonsson and Carl Wennerlind show, this vision of scarcity is historically novel and was not inevitable even in the age of capitalism. Rather, it reflects the costly triumph of infinite-growth ideologies across centuries of European economic thought—at the expense of traditions that sought to live within nature's constraints. The dominant conception of scarcity today holds that, rather than master our desires, humans must master nature to meet those desires. Albritton Jonsson and Wennerlind argue that this idea was developed by thinkers such as Francis Bacon, Samuel Hartlib, Alfred Marshall, and Paul Samuelson, who laid the groundwork for today's hegemonic politics of growth. Yet proponents of infinite growth have long faced resistance from agrarian radicals, romantic poets, revolutionary socialists, ecofeminists, and others. These critics—including the likes of Gerrard Winstanley, Dorothy Wordsworth, Karl Marx, and Hannah Arendt—embraced conceptions of scarcity in which our desires, rather than nature, must be mastered to achieve the social good. In so doing, they dramatically reenvisioned how humans might interact with both nature and the economy. Following these conflicts into the twenty-first century, Albritton Jonsson and Wennerlind insist that we need new, sustainable models of economic thinking to address the climate crisis. Scarcity is not only a critique of infinite growth, but also a timely invitation to imagine alternative ways of flourishing on Earth. Fredrik Albritton Jonsson is the Associate Professor of British History at the University of Chicago. His current research deals with a set of closely related themes in environmental history, history of science, and political economy. Carl Wennerlind is the Professor of History and Chair at Barnard College, Columbia University. He specializes in the history of early modern Europe, with a focus on intellectual history and political economy. He is particularly interested in the historical development of ideas about money and credit; ideas on the relationship between economy and nature; and ideas about "improvement" and "modernization." Thomas Edward Kingston is a Berkeley Fellow in South and Southeast Asian Studies and PhD Student with a designated emphasis in Political Economy at the University of California, Berkeley Learn more about your ad choices. A Bigger Life Prayer and Bible Devotionals with Pastor Dave Cover
In Christian meditation, we are re-aligning ourselves vertically. We're remapping our horizontal realities with a vertical view/perspective. Enabling us to embody that vertical perspective replaces anxiety and tension with a calm confidence. If your podcast app is set to skip the silent sections, disable that in your podcast app for this podcast. Grace Albritton is on our staff at the church where I am a pastor. She's on our database team. But she also from time to time has led breathing meditations with some of our staff teams and they have really loved it. I got a chance to participate in one and my first thought was to have her do a breathing meditation for this podcast. So that is what this is. I think you'll benefit from Grace's voice and her obvious deep relationship with God. Of course like with any episode of a bigger life, if this episode is too long for the time you have you can just stop whenever you need to and pick up again when you have time. I think you're gonna like this one. Who can you share this podcast with?
