On the Origins of Modern-day Sant Mat: In the beginning there was one Sant Mat Path founded by Sant Tulsi Sahib of Hathras with Satsang centers in Hathras, Agra, and Lucknow. Sant Tulsi Sahib sent Girdhari Sahib to the city of Lucknow a few years prior to his passing in 1843. During the period of time between the passing of Sant Tulsi Sahib in 1843 and the passing of Maharaj Girdhari Sahib of Lucknow in August of 1860 -- that seventeen year period -- in addition to doing much meditation, Soamiji Maharaj also was affiliated with, attended and supported the Satsang of Sant Girdhari Sahib in the city of Lucknow. Girdhari earlier had spent some time in Agra and gave Satsang talks at Soamiji's home. According to Seth Pratap's Biography of Soamiji Maharaj, after the passing of Tulsi Sahib, Soamiji Maharaj had Girdhari move into his (Swamiji's) other house, located in the city of Lucknow. This became a new base of operations, a headquarters for the Lucknow Satsang, very much like the family home at Panni Gali, Agra had served as the place of Satsang for the Tulsi Sahib Sangat there since Soamiji was a small child and even earlier. Another reason for Swami Ji to have a house in Lucknow was that sometimes Swami Ji traveled to Lucknow to attend the Satsangs of Girdhari Sahib. Soamiji Maharaj, Sar Bachan Radhasoami Poetry, Hidayat Namah section: "For a long time the spirit of this faqir (i.e. Soamiji Maharaj Himself) sauntered and stayed there [Maha-Sunn, Great Dark Void] and then under instructions from the Teachers and Guides, moved ahead." Sant Garib Das commenting on the above verse: "Soamiji in his Discourses has said that his surat descended into the dark regions of Maha-Sunn but could neither locate the bottom or the end of it nor did it feel it worthwhile to go down any further. Thereafter, his surat adhering to the signs as revealed to him by his Gurus ascended upwards. Here Soamiji says that it was the inner Mercy of his Satguru Tulsi Saheb and that of Maharaj Girdhari Das Ji whose Satsang he attended for a very long period of time." (Anmol Vachan) Soamiji viewed Girdhari Sahib as Tulsi Sahib's successor, supported him, and attended his Satsang. Soami Ji Maharaj treated Girdhari Das as his Guru, as well as donated and "gave substantial material support" to his spiritual mission for "a number of years" according to, The Biography of Soamiji Maharaj, and according to Daniel Gold in, The Lord As Guru: Hindi Sants in the North Indian Tradition. Professor Mark Juergensmeyer in, Radhasoami Reality observed: "Girdhari Das is described as being the 'chief disciple' of Tulsi Sahib, a term that would usually imply he was understood as his designated successor (Pratap Singh Seth, Biography of Soami Ji Maharaj, p. 108). After Tulsi Sahib's death, Swami Shiv Dayal brought Girdhari Das into his house, treated him with love, and accorded him respect due to a pious Mahatma.'" (Pratap Singh Seth, Biography of Soami Ji Maharaj, p. 37). RUMI's Ode to the Unknown Mursheeds, Sages and Guides "In every age, God's mercy and pleasure graces their (Saints') pure spirit and breath. The names of lakhs of (cloistered, secluded, hidden) majestic spiritual personages (Saints) whose heads are adorned and distinguished by His grace have remained unknown and unsung because they were the cynosure of God who (must have) felt envious of their spiritual grandeur (and chose to keep them obscure and unhonoured as obscure heroes are unsung)." Maharishikaa's teachings resonate with John after he's attended a couple of Satsangs. He asks the Maharishikaa which spiritual leaders he can follow in order to stay on the path, once Maharishikaa takes a break from Satsangs after March 5, 2020. He mentions overlaps of the Maharishikaa's teachings with Ken Wilber's and Sri Aurobindo's among other spiritual leaders, and asks if their teachings would help him. #Maharishikaa #SpiritualMasters #SelfRealization Aaryaa Maharishikaa Preeti Maiyaa, is a revolutionary female mystic who fearlessly dares to demystify spirituality in her unrelenting call to realize Self, and act from Source. Eu me esqueço. Ajahn Chah. In our third interview with Alaya, we dive more deeply into the difference of the apparent functioning from separation or the opening and yes into what is always here. Join us for a Satsang, (truth gathering), with Alaya. Presence heals all suffering. Satsang invites us to meet what is here so deeply that nothing is left to keep us apart. With inquiry and tenderness, with curiosity and truth, and with your deepest prayer we find what is real. Our natural ground of being is calling us into this moment to heal, to end separation, calling you home.Alaya's invitation is to meet what is here so deeply that separation cannot be maintained. When separation falls away, what remains is our true nature: open, loving, and free. But first we are invited to meet what is here, whatever it is.“You are my very Self; your suffering is my suffering. We are the same.Your awakening is my awakening; I am at your feet. Our deepest desire is truth, and I can only bow to that. How may I be of service to you, my Beloved?” - AlayaAlaya lives in Asheville, NC with her husband and two daughters. She began teaching in 2011 giving small local Satsangs with the support from her teacher and friend Adyashanti. In our second interview with Alaya, we dive into an experience of Satsang, (truth gathering). “Presence heals all suffering. Satsang invites us to meet what is here so deeply that nothing is left to keep us apart. With inquiry and tenderness, with curiosity and truth, and with your deepest prayer we find what is real. Our natural ground of being is calling us into this moment to heal, to end separation, calling you home.“You are my very Self; your suffering is my suffering. We are the same.Your awakening is my awakening; I am at your feet. Our deepest desire is truth, and I can only bow to that. How may I be of service to you, my Beloved?” - AlayaAlayaAlaya lives in Asheville, NC with her husband and two daughters. She began teaching in 2011 giving small local Satsangs with the support from her teacher and friend Adyashanti. Alaya currently holds Satsang over Zoom on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. In our first Satsang with Gautam on Club house, we first discuss the important leela from chapter 27 of the Sai Satcharita where Baba corrects the Ramdasi. Gautam sheds light on important pointers Baba has given all of us through this leela. Devotees also asked Gautam some important questions, which he took following the talk. We welcome you to be part of the next Satsangs, join us at Clubhouse here --> http://Sai.fm/Clubhouse
These recordings are from live Satsangs at Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi Centre in Melbourne, Australia. Satsang is a Sanskrit term derived from two roots: sat meaning "true'"and sangha meaning community, company or association. It can be translated as "associating with good people" or simply "being in the company of truth," and refers to the act of gathering with Sattvic-minded, uplifting beings, especially spiritual seekers. Satsang is different to any course or lecture because the energy field in it allows for clarity, stillness, and expanded awareness to be experienced by those who seek it. Whenever something increases your awareness of the Truth, it opens your Heart and quiets your mind. Satsang is one of the most effective means of transcending your mind and staying in egoless state which can be called enlightenment, liberation, freedom, moksha, nirvana or simply abiding in Self. We call our satsang lovingly as Bhagavan Satsang as they are all due to his grace, Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi. According to Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi Satsang means only Atma Sang(Association with Self). Those who are trying to be in Self can come in the company of realized beings/Sadhus/Saints/Sages and that is also Satsang. Those who come in the company of Jivanmuktas also become Jivanmuktas. Bhagavan explained the importance of Satsang by quoting Tayumanuvar, Suta Samhita, and Kaivalya Navanitam. Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi is widely thought of as one of the most outstanding Indian spiritual teachers of recent times. Having attained enlightenment at the age of 16, he was drawn to the holy mountain of Arunachala in southern India and remained there for the rest of his life. Arunachala mountain itself is considered to be self manifested Lingam, incarnation of Lord Shiva. Just by looking at it with reverence liberation will happen. Attracted by his stillness, quietness, and teachings, thousands sought his guidance on issues ranging from the nature of God to daily life. The philosophy of Advaita or Non-Duality has become, along with Buddhism, one of the most popular spiritual paths being pursued by those interested in enlightenment today. During the past three decades, Advaita has become more widely recognized in the West through the ever-growing popularity of Ramana Maharshi. His point of view has for its aim Self-realization. The central path taught in this philosophy is the inquiry into the nature of Self, the content of the notional 'I-thought'. Carl Jung wrote of Ramana: “Sri Ramana is a true son of the Indian earth. He is genuine and, in addition to that, something quite phenomenal. In India, he is the whitest spot in a white space. What we find in the life and teachings of Sri Ramana is the purest of India; with its breath of world-liberated and liberating humanity, it is a chant of millenniums.” Om Peace Peace Peace. Not being able to differentiate between the christian bible stories and her childhood storybooks such as Hansel and Gretel, Alaya grew up intuitively. Even the things she was learning in school seemed to her to be very fishy and by high school her internal world became very painful as she was yearning for light and love and openness. By College even though Alaya was living a somewhat ‘normal' life, she realized that she was not a repeat offender and moved through things quickly.Alaya's next Turning Point came while she was bartending in Atlanta where in a moment there was a recognition that ‘now it's time to get to work.' Dramatic changes happened as she left her job, stopped drinking and partying and started shifting into reading spiritual books. A dramatic diet change helped her become more clear headed. Shortly after that she awoke from a nap and her ego was no longer present and she felt she was a part of everything. Then her real spiritual journey begins. Listen in to the awakening story of Alaya. "If you pick it up, you are going to have to drop it." Alaya as she explains that her path has been the path of life. “You are the dream maker and you are the dreamers in the dream” - paraphrased by Alaya from Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.Celestine ProphecyConversations with God by Neale Donald WalshAlaya lives in Asheville, NC with her husband and two daughters.
