“I don't have confidence in my personality, but I do have absolute, total confidence in the Truth of who I am. And that is available for you because it is the same I Am.” Quieting or shutting down the voice of self-hatred running in our minds often brings us to the spiritual search, and in that, it can be an ally. We may fear thoughts or feelings of self-hatred, but if we don't want that merciless voice to rule our lives, we must question it, challenge it, and ultimately meet it directly. In this episode, Gangaji shares her own meeting with self-hatred and her great discovery.  Just in this episode: Gangaji joins host Barbara Denempont to introduce this potent monologue from the archives. She also announces a new six-part audio documentary, Finding Home, that traces her journey to realizing true freedom.

Papaji said, “It takes one twelfth of a second, and then your life is never the same.” Our spiritual search often begins with a causeless moment of true revelation that stops us in our tracks. In just a split second, what is whole and permanent is immediately recognized.  As the powerful feelings, insights and emotions connected to that sublime moment subside, we often begin our search again hoping for the impossible—to repeat that experience. As this exchange demonstrates, inquiry can show us the way out of that mental maze to discover what doesn't come and go.    Learn more about Gangaji, her calendar of events, and other programs at gangaji.org.

I'm so excited to share this transformative conversation on how to create everyday miracles in your life now!   I had the privilege of sitting down with Hakim Hamza, bestselling author of The Eternal Within, for a deep dive into practical techniques, mindset shifts, and daily practices inspired by A Course in Miracles.    Whether you're new to the Course or a seasoned student, this conversation will give you powerful tools to elevate your everyday experience and transform your reality.   And help you experience more miracles! ⚡️   About Hakim Hamza: Hakim was born in 1987 to a Swedish mother and an Egyptian father, and  grew up in Sweden. Growing up multiculturally fostered a deep awareness of the vastness of human experience. Hakim holds a bachelor's degree in social psychology.   Driven by a profound yearning for something eternal that transcends limitations, I immersed myself in diverse Eastern philosophies. I have explored the teachings of Osho (Rajneesh), Papaji, Ramana Maharshi, Jiddu Krishnamurti, Acharya Prashant, and Adyashanti, among others. Through this journey, he understood how spiritual truths can be applied to everyday life. Even though not Eastern, he finally found "A Course in Miracles" (ACIM) and the work of Dr. Kenneth Wapnick, who taught it. The Course has resonated with him more than any other teaching; hence, it has become his primary spiritual practice.

Do you often ask yourself questions like “Who am I?” or “Why am I here?” Today's guest is spiritual teacher and author Gangaji who discusses her book “The Diamond in Your Pocket – Discover Your True Radiance.” Gangaji talks about how we are naturally conditioned to look outside of ourselves for food and shelter, so we continue to look there for answers. Eventually we discover that we cannot find peace and fulfillment outside and we need to turn inward. We seek and acquire knowledge, but some things can only be found inside. We can stop looking outside for the next book, the next teacher, the next escape. It's so simple, yet revolutionary. Inside there's potential for great creativity. She explains that it's no longer “seeking” but “discovering.” It's impossible to find lasting happiness outside. All pleasure fades, but lasting fulfillment can be found inside. Growing up in Mississippi, with the given birthname Toni Roberson, she felt something was missing in her life. She shares the story of finding her spiritual teacher Papaji. She is a very Western woman and never thought she would seek out a guru. She reached a point in her life where she realized she needed a teacher. She prayed and intended for one, then found herself in India six months later. Papaji was very welcoming. She recognized that this was the answer to her prayer. She found grace and radiance in his teachings. He suggested that she stop seeking and look inside for the truth. She was fearful to stop, as she thought she may lose what she had gained. She didn't know what the outcome would be. He taught her to stop following the mind. If a thought arises, let it go. For a moment, turn your attention away from what you want. As she eventually did, she was overwhelmed with love and peace. She found peace and fulfillment exists already. She experienced stillness and it was scary at first. She learned to “see what is” and discover “what's already here.” It's our beingness. It's consciousness. Some dislike what they see when they look inside. That's all part of the process. Some people feel anguish or fear and other negative emotions. We suppress those feelings, or we can be in constant states of desire, looking for the next thing, and then the next. She suggests we just stop and take a moment. This takes vigilance, but then we can live life from that place. We can stop looking outside for satisfaction. So much energy is free. Gangaji also discusses the idea that “you are not who you think you are.” These thoughts continue and change. Stillness is beyond thought, but it's your real self, your true self. Everything else is a story which can cause negative feelings. This Presence of “All That Is” is not something we have to “do” to experience. It's crucial to realize we are in our thinking minds. We can experience this if we just “be.” It's natural. Our minds will help us with survival. Peace is the nature of your heart. When there's suffering, you must be present with the pain in your heart. She suggests that even though the whole body fights to survive, we can find peace in our hearts. We can discover it deeply after we get through the fear. It's counter-intuitive, but it will pass. We can recognize that states come and go but inner “knowing” and stillness are always there. We can experience this peace. Gangaji teaches the willingness to learn that we are all connected. Destructive global events are tragic yet offer a way for us to discover the limitlessness of our own hearts. She also discusses the work she does within the prison environment, teaching people to learn to experience peace. We can all support one another. If we are willing to care, we can learn greater levels of love. Info: Gangaji.org.

He said, “The Ganga now will flow in the West.”Today, as a teacher and author, Gangaji speaks to people from all walks of life inviting them to fully recognize the absolute freedom and unchanging peace that is the truth of one's being. She is the author of The Diamond in Your Pocket: Discovering Your True Radiance, Freedom and Resolve: The Living Edge of Surrender, Hidden Treasure: Uncovering the Truth in Your Life Story, and You are THAT. “This is an invitation to stop. To not create who you are. To simply be yourself with no idea or memory of who or what that is. Just to be. Then to see, how vast this just is.” Our lived experience in a human body gives rise to a wide range of phenomena that include thoughts, feelings, and images of ourselves. Thoughts, feelings, sensations, or memories are not a problem unless that is how we define or identify who we are. In this potent inquiry, Gangaji points to the complex subtleties of ego that perpetuate human suffering. She invites us to stop overlooking the source of all phenomena to discover our true face and “the absolute simplicity of peace.”   Learn more about how to support prisoners in their spiritual inquiry by donating to the Gangaji's prison program here.  Learn more about Gangaji and all of her events and programs on gangaji.org.

Hello. Welcome to Inviting Calm. This week has been a rollercoaster ride . Needing to ground myself and take a time out several times a day. Focusing on my breathing as stress levels increased and riding the waves to calmness. Weaving in breathing practices throughout the day allowing me short meditation practices. I often hear people stay “ I have tried to meditate but do it wrong”. Or my mind is too busy. I used to think that too. As I furthered and further my studies and practice I realize that for me it's about accepting and not judging. Leaning into my breath which serves as an anchor and brings me into the presence. Papaji said, "The ocean doesn't complain about the dance of ten million waves; so don't be concerned with the rise and fall of thoughts." I invite you to get into a comfortable position and join me in this short guided meditation using our breath to anchor and “invite calm” into our life.

How To Die Happy

Amidst her travels some years ago, Soma Temple visited India, where she met the sage and guru, Papaji. From her first meeting with the spiritual leader, she knew there was something extraordinary about this man. She travelled between the US, Bali, and India for some time to visit with him. On one such visit, Papaji asked to meet with Soma, and at that meeting, he tasked her with a profoundly life-changing mission - to share Rudraksha beads with the world. Rudraksha is a fruit, the dried stones of which are used as prayer beads (mala beads) by Hindus, Buddhists and Sikhs. The stones are commonly worn for protection and use when chanting mantras. Rudraksha seeds can be found all over the world, but the most powerful (containing the most prana (lifeforce energy)) come from Java, right here in Indonesia. And so, tasked with the dharma outlined by Papaji, Soma returned to her home in Indonesia and created what would later become Aum Rudraksha, a global brand designing and distributing mala beads worldwide. Soma's been in Bali for 38 years now and, as you might expect, has some incredible stories and a unique understanding of Balinese culture. Having attended a Rudraksha bead mala workshop hosted by Aum Rudraksha, Martin and Jules visited Soma at her home in central Bali to learn more about this incredible woman, Rudraksha beads and their importance in spiritual practice. This conversation covers the magic surrounding malas, the spellcasting power of mantras, how to incorporate Rudraksha mala beads into meditation, and Bali's fascinating and richly spiritual Hindu culture. Some people have a special kind of energy, immediately putting you at ease, allowing you to feel centred even if they're a total stranger to you. Soma Temple's one such being - a beautiful soul to whom we are grateful for inviting us into her home and taking the time to sit and talk to us about her passion and dharma - to introduce Rudraksha beads to the world, just as Papaji requested. This lively exchange offers great insight into what it means to be absolutely ordinary and still discover what is truly extraordinary.

Bruce discusses his great passion for the ancient wisdom traditions and how they have informed his understanding of the nature of consciousness. We hear of his travels to India as a young seeker after finding disenchantment with the western, materialistic worldview, and tales of renowned teachers and adepts such as Osho, S.N. Goenka, Papaji, Satya Sai Baba and Vanamali Mataji. Bruce shares the philosophy of Samkhya, where the cause of suffering is ignorance of our own inherent divinity, and how knowledge or realization of the self is the balm for this suffering. He emphasizes the essential role of therapeutic presence in healing work, and how trauma can be resolved when sacred space is held for us to be safe and present in our body. He explains how everything that exists is a self-organising and self-correcting field of polarities, and reminds us of the ecstasy of embodiment, the inherent joy that comes with this human experience if we can only tap into it.Liked what you heard? In a Zoom meeting with ‘Yo Soy Tu Mismo' (a group of Spanish devotees of Bhagavan Sri Ramana) on 27th February 2022, Michael James first answers the questions: ----more---- I would like you to elaborate on what are the effects of not focusing on a single path and how you suggest to deal with the usual urge to be reading here and there. What are the main differences between this path and the proposals of Nisargadatta and other lines of Advaita, including those that seem to be the same like Papaji, Mooji, etc.? and then answers more questions about this and other aspects of Bhagavan's teachings, particularly the practice of self-investigation and self-surrender. While answering these questions, Michael discusses the meaning and implications of various passages from Bhagavan's writings, including Nāṉ Ār?, Uḷḷadu Nāṟpadu, Uḷḷadu Nāṟpadu Anubandham, Upadēśa Undiyār and Āṉma-Viddai, Śrī Aruṇācala Padigam, the note he wrote for his mother in December 1898, Śrī Aruṇācala Aṣṭakam, Uḷḷadu Nāṟpadu and Upadēśa Undiyār. This episode can also be watched as a video, 2022-02-27 Yo Soy Tu Mismo: Michael James discusses the need to go deep in following a single path, and a more compressed audio copy in Opus format (which can be listened to in the VLC media player and some other apps) can be downloaded from here.

Not being able to differentiate between the christian bible stories and her childhood storybooks such as Hansel and Gretel, Alaya grew up intuitively. Even the things she was learning in school seemed to her to be very fishy and by high school her internal world became very painful as she was yearning for light and love and openness. By College even though Alaya was living a somewhat ‘normal' life, she realized that she was not a repeat offender and moved through things quickly.Alaya's next Turning Point came  while she was bartending in Atlanta where in a moment there was a recognition that ‘now it's time to get to work.' Dramatic changes happened as she left her job, stopped drinking and partying and started shifting into reading spiritual books. A dramatic diet change helped her become more clear headed. Shortly after that she awoke from a nap and her ego was no longer present and she felt she was a part of everything. Then her real spiritual journey begins. Listen in to the awakening story of Alaya. "If you pick it up, you are going to have to drop it." Alaya as she explains that her path has been the path of life. “You are the dream maker and you are the dreamers in the dream” - paraphrased by Alaya from Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.Celestine ProphecyConversations with God by Neale Donald WalshAlaya lives in Asheville, NC with her husband and two daughters. She began teaching in 2011 giving small local Satsangs with the support from her teacher and friend Adyashanti.  Alaya currently holds Satsang over Zoom on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. Particularly among baby boomers, many people have had relationships to a spiritual teacher, joined a community (or Sangha) and subscribed to a particular philosophical orientation. A relationship with a teacher can be many things. It can lead to dependency on things outside yourself. It can lead to a craving for approval, fitting in, and a fear of missing out. A relationship with a teacher can easily become a way to make up for what we didn't get with mommy and daddy. Also (sadly, not always) a relationship with a great teacher can become a catalyst for real freedom. Until his death in 1997, thousands of people came into contact with H.W.L. Poonja. Many met a sweet old man (or sometimes a very abrupt and confronting lion), and then moved on. Many had strong peak spiritual experiences which then dissipated, and they also moved on. A few people, experienced a deep and abiding shift into freedom: into knowing their true nature beyond discursive thought and reactive feeling. Please enjoy this very warmhearted conversation with Isaac Shapiro. 5:35 -- New ways of seeing, new ways of being (Isaac meets Papaji) 18:03 -- New ways of seeing, new ways of being (Arjuna meets Papaji) 30:25 -- The service of being present -- the journey of teaching 39:31 -- How discomfort leads evolution and the importance of leaning in 60:15 -- Keys to awakening for the sake of contribution
