If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. Colossians3:1-2 ESV

Out with the old, in with the new! Our new life in Christ changes our perspective on life in a fundamental way
As we continue through Colossians, we see how serious our sin is, and how serious God is about loving His people by giving them hope in Jesus. Jesus is life, and life is Jesus. Put your sin to death and put on life with Jesus!

The 7th sermon in a series on Colossians: Christ the King Now that Paul has denounced the Colossian Heresy (that we are saved by legalism or paganism), he reflects on how Christians are to live out their day-to-day lives, specifically by calling Christians to turn from sins of sex and speech (their old humanity), and instead be united in Christ's resurrection and love for one another (their new humanity). Are you naturally wired to be a rule breaker or a rule follower? We know that all of us are sinners, but our personalities tend towards one or the other. Either way, COVID has brought out the worst for both rule breakers and rule followers. There are have never been more rules to follow, or break! But, how do you understand obedience to God? Is obedience meaningless rules to either follow or break? Pastor Chris Kipp teaches a message entitled "Obey What You Learn" from Colossians 3:1-11 and it has something to say to all of us. This recording is taken from the Renaissance Church livestream that aired on April 18th, 2021. www.ren-church.org #alloflifealltheearth

Set Your Mind Above / Put Self to Death / Embrace Transformation If you are a person whose faith is in Christ, then your old life is dead and your new life, which is secure in Christ, should reflect His Kingdom by the way you live it.

Som kristne, når vi tager imod Jesus, er der en mængde af ting vi er frelst FRA. I denne første prædiken i det nye år, opmuntrer Christian os til at søge det himmelske, i stedet for det vi er frelst fra.
Are you "brand loyal"? Are you into fashion? What is your fashion style? Our fashion is an avenue of self-expression, and the brands we choose send a message about our lifestyle. Scripture uses the metaphor of fashion and what we wear to communicate spiritual truth. In this sermon, we look at the sins we are to "cast off" like old clothes in exchange for the new garments of righteousness.

The focus of Pentecost is on spiritual growth. Christians grow in their stewardship through a better understanding of what Jesus taught as well as teachings about Him. We finish our series on St. Paul's letter to us as he writes to the Colossian Church. Today's text, as well as the service hymns bring to mind an Easter celebration and rightfully so, In fact, the first four verses of Colossians 3 are the Epistle reading for Easter 2020. Paul encourages his readers to see all things through the lens of God's plan of salvation in Jesus Christ. From the perspective of Christ's unconditional sacrifice, we are able to confront false teaching and experience comfort during times of suffering under the leadership of our resurrected Savior.

There are many kinds of ‘makeovers,’ but the one we need most is a spiritual makeover.
Our Identity should be in Christ
After arguing that keeping man-made rules and denying yourself things that the Bible does not forbid (Asceticism) are not the way to godliness, Paul goes on to tell the Colossians how to win the battle against sin. He mentions that we have died with Christ in the past (3:1), are hidden with Christ in the present (3:3) and will be revealed with Christ in the future (3:4).

As we begin Colossians 3 we look at two of the great principles in the Word of God. If we could get these down and make them a natural part of our life, our lives will never be the same.

The responsibility you and I as believers to live a life of purity and morality is sacrificed at the altar of worship preferences, attendance records, public perception and keeping fight to keep up with other churches. For those who are Christians here today, I have news for you. When you became a Christian, you were reborn. Now it is time to live that way. Sermon Notes @ http://bible.com/e/2DIC
