For this week's commentary, The Blind Rage Podcast takes a look at Adam Wingard's 2011 home invasion thriller YOU'RE NEXT, starring the legendary Barbara Crampton as matriarch of a dysfunctional family who reunites for a sit-down dinner. Soon enough, bickering between the siblings commences—as does the slaughter of various guests by masked assailants sporting crossbows. Not a very original premise, but contains some decent performances, particularly by Australian actress Sharni Vinson. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/blindragepod/message

Welcome to the Season 3 Premiere of Whine and a Movie! It's gonna be great. We're kicking it off with the only home invasion movie we can stomach, "You're Next." It's a twisty trip that gets you cheering for the hero, and not in an underdog way. She's like, legit. We pair the movie with a red blend called 2017 Daring Escape Red. It really fit the bill. The wine is good and the label is perf.Metacritic Score: 66/100Movie Sync Notes: We watched the movie for free on Hulu. We start "You're Next" 6:41 into the pod, and push play on part two 59:16 into the pod.
One of the best home invasion movies ever - Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett, the creative team from THE GUEST, bring their trademark dark humor, biting edge, and genre thrills to a movie that is as much a great slasher as it is a great dark comedy. Featuring an ensemble cast of other genre filmmakers and actors (Barbara Crampton, Larry Fessenden, Ti West, Joe Swanberg), and a star turn by Sharni Vinson, this is genre fun for genre enthusiasts. Dean Movshovitz, author of an Amazon bestselling book, PIXAR STORYTELLING, joins the show to discuss this film. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/dan-benamor/support

These podcasters have been on the move between Minki going to LA for sketch writing classes and Tracy going to NYC again where she bumped into the never aging Matthew Broderick at a Broadway show. But, never fear...they’re back to discuss this South African demonic possession film which, while much better than the last South African film covered (EP12), Minki has decided South African films kind of suck. Between the 75 jump scares and the weak character development, you kind of don’t care when the cast of kidnappers begin losing their souls to a diamond heiress they’ve kidnapped for ransom possessed by a demon who has been preying on people who carry grief over dead loved ones. Surprise! Worst kidnapping ever… Best part of the movie is the creepy tentacle-like tongue the demon uses to convert souls to the dark side. Pucker up.
