Their father, Julius, is allowed to bring Carter to visit Sadie for two days once a year. When they visit this time, some serious craziness ensues. The British Museum gets rocked by Julius, stirring up all kinds of Egyptian god-related chaos. Uncle Amos gets the kids safe as best he can, but it doesn't last long! The Kane family traces back to two very powerful royal lines. Demon Days start soon, and that is not some sale at Spirit Halloween. Sadie's cat, Muffin, is keeping a secret. Jeff also talked about a new show he's watching and loving on Netflix called The Residence, and I may be three years late but I finally started watching season 1 of Severance on Apple TV+... cuz season 2 wrapped up last week - Brett

On Prophecy Radio episode #132, Karen and Kristen discuss the final two chapters of Percy Jackson and the Chalice of the Gods! They also talk about the brand new Nico di Angelo novel, The Court of the Dead. New episodes of Prophecy Radio will air every other week. All discussions are PG-13. News and Updates (00:06:47) Karen's officiating a wedding, which means you get this episode early! Leah won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Performance by a Youth (for Percy Jackson)! A Touch of Blood by Sajni Patel is out now. The Court of the Dead: A Nico di Angelo Adventure releases in the US and the UK on September 25, 2023. We go through the synopsis and it sounds fantastic. Khadijah Khatib once again did the cover, and we're obsessed with it! We look at the cover pretty closely and see if we can find any clues about the story. The Cosmopolitan interview with Rick and Mark about the new book is a lot of fun. We love that this was Mark's idea and that they keep describing the book as “bonkers.” Will we see Bob and Small Bob again? Could there be a third Nico di Angelo book?? There IS a new character we can expect in Book 2. We also love the three words each of them use to describe this book. Check out Rick's blog for a few more details. We go through all the special editions that Read Riordan announced on their Instagram. Are you planning on getting any of the special editions? Would you spring for more than one? Chalice of the Gods discussion (00:33:03) We kick off our discussion with Chalice of the Gods chapter 34. “Delete, Delete” is the best running joke. Did you remember when the spaghetti situation took place? Is Paul basically Rick? The art of the one-star review is something to be revered. Is Sally's one-star review really a review that Rick got? We're so interested in Sally's book! What genre is it?? Callie once again shows up to share her opinions. The scene where Percy has to write his letter is SO FANTASTIC. We go looking for the recommendation letter we thought we remembered being in one of the special editions and get a surprise. As always, we get into our favorite lines and favorite scenes. Lastly, we jump into chapter 35, “Pretty Much the Best Good-Night Kiss Ever.” Percy gets Annabeth's special smile! Annabeth is very chill about giving out her autograph. It's so interesting that we learned something new about the cap. Annabeth is speechless over the fact that Athena has maybe, sort of, kind of accepted Percy as her boyfriend? We love visions of Percabeth's future! Easy-queasy has a lot of potential. The “I love you” felt significant, but it's not the first time they said it, right? The goodnight kiss through the Iris Message was SO CUTE. Favorite lines and favorite scenes! Feedback (00:00:00) There is no feedback this week! Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 133, where we'll review what we've already discussed in The Red Pyramid before we pick it back up again. Doink da doink! Brad from the Pop Culture Yearbook Podcast returns to Soundtrack Your Life to talk to Nicole and Ryan about the Lonely Island 2016 film, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. It flamed out when it was released back in 2016 but it's reached cult status with it's joke-dense comedy, super talented cast, and songs that are equally brilliant and catchy. What happens when competition goes way too far? In this episode, we dive into Battle Royale—the cult classic that makes The Hunger Games look like a friendly school fundraiser—to uncover any connections to education. Joined by TikTok movie reviewers BrandonToksMovies and Ben Treadway, we break down the film's themes of competition, authority, and survival—and how they (thankfully, in a less deadly way) mirror the struggles students face in real life. Can we actually learn anything from this extreme scenario to improve schools? How does this dystopian scenario reflect the pressures students face today? Tune in as we try reading between the lines and figure out what Battle Royale can teach us. Prophecy Radio episode #131 brings Karen and Kristen to discussing the penultimate two chapters of Percy Jackson and the Chalice of the Gods. They also highlight some upcoming YA/Middle Grade books from RRP authors and talk some exciting other news, too. New episodes of Prophecy Radio will air every other week. All discussions are PG-13. News and Updates (00:18:28) Check out this article about where Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 1 ranked on Disney+ last year! Karen compiled a list of current releases and upcoming releases from all of our favorite RRP authors. You can see that list here on Insta! While you're on the Insta, make sure to check out all the Dreamslinger swag that Karen received after signing up on Graci Kim's website a couple weeks ago! Chalice of the Gods discussion (00:24:55) Time to jump into chapter 32! Which is more upsetting: The gods treating their kids like pets or NOT BRINGING THEM LEFTOVERS?! Easy exit from Olympus Percy specifically mentions not telling anyone at camp about this, which explains why we never heard anything about this adventure before. Grover was the second-most stressed out he's ever been. Grover offers to run Annabeth's hat back to her so Percy can get to school ASAP. Godly parents can call you in late, too. We all love Paul Blofis. Poseidon keeps an eye on Percy… for better or for worse. It's time to talk about our favorite lines and favorite moments from this chapter! And now its chapter 33 time! Eudora stops Percy on his way to class. She is not a Poseidon fan, but Percy talks her off the ledge. Do-it-yourself recommendation letters (AKA blank godly paper) are all the rage. She expects some credit for her work in Percy's letter when he writes it. Blue jolly ranchers are the best, clearly. Percy hasn't done the reading, but he's still happy to be in class. It's nice to have a moment to appreciate the mundane. Time for our favorite lines and favorite moments from this chapter. Feedback (00:54:34) Email from Caoimhe, who shared some pics of her ADORABLE pup with us! Prophecy Radio episode #130 sees Karen and Kristen discussing the next two chapters of Percy Jackson and the Chalice of the Gods. They also discuss Walker Scobell's comments about the upcoming Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2. New episodes of Prophecy Radio will air every other week. All discussions are PG-13. News and Updates (00:09:14) We kick off the episode talking about our anticipation (or lack thereof) for the Super Bowl, plus our excitement for Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros. Have you ever listened to a graphic audio before? Do you have a spreadsheet for all the books you're reading this year? Happy belated birthday to Walker Scobell! Filming for season 2 has officially wrapped, and we speculate about the possible release date. Walker won the Rising Star Award at the 2025 SCAD TVfest! Speaking with TV Insider, Walker says the beginning of Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 will start in a slightly different place from the book—but we're not worried. We're so ready for more action in season 2, and we're excited to see what more they add to the show that isn't in the books. Sometimes we forget how long it takes for Annabeth and Percy to actually get together. They have a looooong road ahead of them. Tyson is SO important to this series, and it sounds like Daniel Diemer has impressed Diehard Percy Jackson Fan Walker Scobell. We're also excited there will be more practical sets, and we're curious how the Volume will come into play this season. Could we see Director Walker Scobell some day!? Rick answered some questions on Goodreads recently, and he's said Clarisse will have a sizeable role in season 2 and that Dior is bringing her A game! Chalice of the Gods discussion (00:22:05) Okay, let's jump into Chalice of the Gods chapter 30. Where did we last leave Percy and where is he headed now? Percy takes in the sights as he heads toward the kitchen. Did we see the street-cleaning rhinoceros in the TV show? We're obsessed with the fact that satyrs give botanical directions. Percy is smart to question why the gods have kitchens full of staff, and the reason makes SO MUCH SENSE. Did you catch the Ghostbusters reference!? It must be so uncomfortable to sweat Greek Fire. There was A LOT of detailed description in this chapter. How many of you knew what a conversation pit was? We play a pretty easy game of Two Truths and a Lie. It's time to talk about our favorite lines and favorite moments from this chapter! Next up, Chalice of the Gods chapter 31. It might be cliché, but hiding under the pastry cart as his new BFF Barbara wheels him into the banquet hall works wonders. And in exchange, all Percy has to do is provide Barbara with an Annabeth Chase meet-and-greet opportunity. Do nymphs and dryads see demigods as celebrities? What's scarier—facing down a lion or Percy's future mother-in-law? Really, Athena spotting him is best-case scenario because any of the others might've caused trouble for Percy. We appreciate that Rick doesn't shy away from how gross Zeus actually is. Imagine what TOO MUCH praise would mean to Ganymede? Did you figure out what a demi-bag was? Did we want more of a scene in the banquet? Would it have worked out for Percy if there was more of a confrontation? Sometimes Percy is a little lucky! Time for our favorite lines and favorite moments from this chapter. Feedback (00:57:06) Solomon wonders if Annabeth could give Percy his third quest. It's an interesting question, and we have a theory of our own! Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 131, where we'll discuss the latest Percy Jackson news, along with Chalice of the Gods chapters 32 and 33. Prophecy Radio episode #129 brings Karen and Kristen back together again to discuss the next two chapters of Percy Jackson and the Chalice of the Gods. They also dip into a quick look at the brand new Percy Jackson cookbook, full of some truly unique recipes. New episodes of Prophecy Radio will air every other week. All discussions are PG-13. News and Updates (00:06:59) Check out this fun Reel for a better glimpse at the PJO premiere last year Check out Graci Kim's website to sign up for the Dreamslinger league. Karen got a copy of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Official Cookbook as a late Christmas present. It's a perfect gift for Percy Jackson fans, especially if they like to throw parties for premiere weeks or in celebration of new books. Chalice of the Gods discussion (00:21:21) Let's start off our Chalice of the Gods discussion with chapter 28, "It Starts Raining Toys" Gary is more than a little shell-shocked at Percy's choices. Percy takes a moment to reflect on his mom's parents, and what it would be like if they had survived. Gary wants to know why Percy offered hugs instead of muscle. We are grateful that Gary has agreed that Percy has more life to live. Gary has one more thing to ask Percy before he excuses himself in a poof! Not everyone is like the gods, and Percy gives Gary hope. Annabeth and Grover congratulate Percy on his brilliant gamble. A hula hoop falls from the sky, which means Ganymede has a message for our trio. Zeus has invited his mom over, which means, the chalice needs to find its way home... now. Our favorite lines and moments We also get to discuss Chalice of the Gods chapter 29, "I Teeter on the Precipice of Mount Brunch" Percy hates brunch. Like HATES it. What the heck do gods eat for brunch, anyway? No, Percy cannot FEDEx the chalice back to Ganymede. Major bummer. Annabeth heads to school, while Percy and Grover head to the Empire State Building. Grover knows someone who can get them into the brunch, as long as they find the side door to the Olympus kitchens. Percy tries on Annabeth's Yankees cap of invisibility. It makes him feel fuzzy and weird. We brainstorm better names for a satyr dating app. Satyr-er leave a bit to be desired. Grover shakes his woolmaker to distract the Empire State security guards so Percy can sneak onto the elevator. Percy worries the chalice may have a "one ring" thing going on. Our favorite lines and moments Feedback (00:53:35) Maria Steinmetz reached out on Instagram to let us know she signed up for a class with Roshani Chokshi. We hope its as amazing as we imagine! Check out our Spotify playlists if you're looking for certain episodes that correlate with certain chapter discussions. My guest today is Kenneth Watson. He is a military vet, an author, and recently a father, but still insists his primary identifying marker is as an alcoholic. He had his first drink at about 6 years old, and remembers the first time he was drunk,.Kenneth was only 12 years old. Alcohol surrounded most of his life in high school, college and the military. While it would have been easy to become a statistic, he sobered up, wrote a book and is sharing his story with the world with the intention of letting people know there is hope and help. He recently had a son whom he shamelessly brags about – don't we all! It is a wonderful, touching, hopeful story of overcoming adversity and standing for something.

Prophecy Radio episode #128 brings Karen and Kristen back together again to discuss the next two chapters of Percy Jackson and the Chalice of the Gods. They also discuss a couple small snippets of news before diving into a fun fatal flaw quiz. Finally, they discuss chapters 26 and 27 of Chalice of the Gods. New episodes of Prophecy Radio will air every other week. All discussions are PG-13. News and Updates (00:08:50) Make sure you're keeping up with the @PercySeries Instagram for some fun posts! Have you gotten Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Official Cookbook yet? Have you taken the Camp Half-Pod fatal flaw quiz yet? We had a great time taking it, but maybe not such a great time being read for filth by our results. Since we were split on some of our answers, we decided to take it a second time to see if our results changed! Chalice of the Gods discussion (00:32:26) Let's start off our Chalice of the Gods discussion with chapter 26, “I Negotiate the Terms of My Disintegration.” It's time to wrestle a god! If we had a nickel every time we heard that one… Really, Percy has no good choice here. On the plus side, we love how introspective Percy is in this book. (Thanks, Mark!) We totally understand why the gods are superfans of Geras. There are so many amazing quotes in this chapter. Percy has been through this a time or two, so he knows to clarify the terms of the deal. He also has conditions! Very important conditions. Annabeth is the brains of this operation. And Grover is the doughnut man. “I love you…but you're not Hercules.” Why is it SO FUNNY that Percy hates Hercules so much? It's really interesting that Percy considers giving up on his quest but just can't do it. And therein lies his fatal flaw. Thank goodness for plot armor! Grover's offer of doughnuts almostttt changes Geras' mind. Geras is pretty quick for an old guy! As always, we discuss our favorite lines and favorite moments. Now it's time to get into chapter 27, “My Dying Words Are Super Embarrassing.” The fight has begun! Percy barely got away from Geras' first move. We love the comments from the peanut gallery. Percy's got some great initial ideas for how to defeat old age. Eat your fiber! Why didn't Percy's water powers work on Geras? Once again, we see what kind of connection Percy and Annabeth have—and we are LIVING for it! Geras really isn't someone you want to mess with. The dude is STRONG. Why does Rick have to bring up Jason so casually!? There's a reason we still read Rick Riordan books—not just for the humor but also because of the deeper meanings. We lament about our age a little bit, but in reality, we still feel in development and not like a real person—and that's okay! Let's not forget about our favorite lines and favorite moments. Feedback (01:10:16) Solomon writes in with a suggestion for a new board game we might enjoy. Check out our Spotify playlists if you're looking for certain episodes that correlate with certain chapter discussions. Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 129, where we'll discuss the latest Percy Jackson news, along with Chalice of the Gods chapters 28 & 29. Prophecy Radio episode #127 finds Karen and Kristen back to discuss the next two chapters of Percy Jackson and the Chalice of the Gods. We catch up on the board games we've played and loved recently (and tell a traumatic board game memory) before discussing the latest news from Rick Riordan and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Finally, we discuss chapters 24 and 25 of Chalice of the Gods. New episodes of Prophecy Radio will air every other week. All discussions are PG-13. News and Updates (00:09:37) We decide not to worry about the D23 trailer since it has so little new footage for Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2. We are ready and waiting for a real Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 trailer, though. We do have some minor casting announcements to talk about. You can take a look at all the info on the minor casting right here. Timothy Simons as Tantalus, who keeps an eye on activities in Chiron's absence. Kevin Chacon has been recast as Chris Rodriguez We take issue with the article calling him a villain, though. Rosemarie DeWitt will be our C.C. (AKA Circe) Who is not to be confused with Calypso or any other water-related C-named goddesses Aleks Paunovic will be our Polyphemus, although we're not sure to what degree. If they had only cast him for his voice, they would have mentioned that in the announcement, right? Last, but certainly not least, we have our new non-book character played by Beatrice Kitsos … or is she?! Chalice of the Gods discussion (00:29:00) Chapter 24 starts with Percy waking up from a good old regular dream where all the gods were pregnant. And of course it was Annabeth sneaking in his window that woke him. She has a lot to tell him about what she learned about concetrated nectar from Juniper. Is this book influencing the show? Or is the show influencing this book? Percy gave good advice to Grover. Sally would not have a problem with Annabeth in Percy's room. She'd probably just make tea. Trusting moms are some of the best parts of supernatural-being-living-in-a-human-world stories. Annabeth Chase: Scheduler Extraordinaire! We share our favorite lines and moments. Time for chapter 25! And its a big one. Doughnuts to start the day, then time to plug noses and get to work. The menthol to koala/eucalyptus thing took a minute to process. Our trio gets split up by the drops of nectar. Of course Percy is in trouble the minute he's off on his own. Time to meet Gary! He has a very specific look, and its not a flattering one. The god of old age stole the chalice that stops people from getting old. It goes against the natural order of things. Since Percy is the only human to turn down immortality, Geras wanted to give him a chance to understand why this god would steal from Ganymede. Karen reminds us of that reference last week that makes a lot more sense now that we're in the know. Gary is not happy with Percy's reaction and is totally ready to turn him to gravedust. Percy wants to see if there's a deal to be struck. The challenge Geras throws down is not exactly what you would expect… Time to close things out with more favorite lines and favorite moments! Feedback No feedback this week, but we look forward to hearing all your board game recs for next week's episode! Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 128, where we'll discuss the latest Percy Jackson news, along with Chalice of the Gods chapters 26 & 27. Prophecy Radio episode #126 finds Karen and Kristen back for a third week in a row (even though it's a little behind schedule). We share what we've been watching lately before discussing the latest news from Rick Riordan and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Finally, we discuss chapters 22 and 23 of Chalice of the Gods. New episodes of Prophecy Radio will air every other week. All discussions are PG-13. News and Updates (00:06:51) The 3rd Annual Children's & Family Emmy Nominees are out, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians scored a bunch of them! Isn't it exciting that Leah Jeffries has been nominated for an Emmy!? What exactly is a show open? They've got a great chance of getting an award for set dressing. It's great to see a nomination for stunt coordination! Out of all the nominees, Percy Jackson and the Olympians is definitely one of the biggest and most popular shows. Here's the Variety article Kristen was referencing. In case you missed it like we did, we discuss the November blog update on Rick's website. Wrath of the Triple Goddess by Rick Riordan, Pahua and the Dragon's Secret by Lori M. Lee, and The Dark Becomes Her by Judy I. Lin are all available now. A Touch of Blood, the Drop of Venom companion novel, by Sajni Patel is out on February 25 We're also getting a new Nico and Will novel! What could Book 2 possibly be about?? We have a few ideas. There will be another Senior Year Adventure Book, but it won't be out in 2025. We try to figure out a timeline for when his next books will be coming out. We're so excited he said Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 is “better, bigger, funnier, faster and wilder” than the first season. What other adaptations is Rick working on at the moment? Walker has gotten SO BIG in the last year or so. Chalice of the Gods discussion (00:31:05) Let's kick off our Chalice of the Gods discussion with chapter 22 today. We love a woman who hyphenates her last name. Annabeth taking up a culinary class and building famous landmarks out of cake makes SO MUCH SENSE. Karen has a theory as to why Annabeth chose to make green and purple cupcakes. Percy is a little shocked, but he takes Sally's surprise news very well and is super happy for his mom. We discuss whether Sally is relieved that her second child is not a demi-god. It's so cute that Percy wants to stick around to see his sibling grow up. We make sure to do our favorite lines and favorite moments. Next up is Chalice of the Gods chapter 23! Ho-Ho-Kus is a real place in New Jersey with a trade school. Is Rick making a statement on high school guidance counselors and how useless they are!? Turns out everyone wants updates from Percy today. We love all the timely references in this book and a lot of Rick's other works. Percy visits the library even though he really doesn't want to. Favorite lines and moments, as always! The reason Percy wants to help Ganymede is really sweet, actually. Feedback (00:58:40) Wings of Legends left us some comments on Spotify. Kyle left us an email back in March that we're just getting to, but it was WELL worth the wait because he had an awesome idea for a discussion.
