On Episode 45 of the Duffel Shuffle Podcast, Sam and Adrian head to the bottom of the world and discuss the Vinson Massif. This is the 5th in the series covering each of the Seven Summits, and while Vinson lacks some of the culture of previous mountains discussed, it makes up for that in the uniqueness of the adventure. First climbed in 1966, Vinson is known by Seven Summit climbers as "The Last Great Challenge" as it was the final peak conquered by the first to complete the seven tallest summits on each continent. While not particularly challenging, Vinson is notable for its logistical complexity as well as incredibly cold temperatures. - While a Vinson expedition can be easily completed in just a matter of days, due to it's relatively low altitude of 4,892m (16,050'), most expeditions last 2-3 weeks to allow for the logistics to fall into place, which can be severely delayed by weather and other factors. - All Vinson logistics are managed by Antarctic Logistics and Expeditions (ALE). As such, their strict risk management practices have led to an incredibly high safety and success rate. - A Vinson expedition requires a high level of mountain independence, primarily to manage the challenges of cold. As such, it's a great peak to potentially follow Everest, or at the very least Denali, and can also be easily combined with climbing Aconcagua. Episode 306 is the nineteenth  episode of our mini-series on the Tippit murder.  David Belin, the celebrated Warren Commission attorney called  it the "Rosetta Stone" of the JFK assassination. It may very well be just that...but for other reasons! In  this nineteenth  episode, we tell the story of Air Force Sergeant Robert Vinson. On the morning of November 22, 1963 Vinson boarded a flight at Andrews Air Force Base bound for Lowry Airforce Base in  Colorado.  He was hitching a ride to his duty station at Ent Air Force Base and the plane was empty with the exception of Sergeant Vinson, the pilot and the copilot. Shortly after take off, the crew announced president Kennedy's shooting in Dallas and the plane made an immediate detour south. It was not long before they were over Dallas, a city that Vinson recognized as he peered out the window. They would soon land on a sandy strip of land along the Trinity River in Dallas, and without shutting down the aircraft engines, would take on two passengers. From there they would fly to Roswell Air Force Base in New Mexico. The purported landing area would have put the plane close to  Oak Cliff.  One of the men who boarded in Dallas was Latino. The other was a taller Caucasian man. The pilots and the two men would hastily depart the aircraft upon landing at Roswell. A departure from the original flight plan, Vinson was forced to stay overnight at Roswell and catch a plane the next day to Colorado. But that night he would see pictures of Lee Harvey Oswald on television and feel certain that one of the passengers on the plane, the Caucasian, bore a striking resemblance  to Oswald. Vinson would keep this information private until after he retired from the Airforce.  Could it have been Oswald's double?  Yes…there is a grave possibility that the true "Rosetta Stone" of November 22nd, 1963, might just lie in the quiet Dallas suburb of Oak Cliff, waiting for us to finally put the pieces together. This is a wander I've created especially for you…and of all the wanders you have taken with me, this Tippit series  may be the most thrilling of all! And don't worry, as the fall winds turn cooler, we will all be vacationing once again, in Mexico…I think  you know what I mean by that. But our new wander takes precedent.  As we wind down the Tippit series, I hope that you will enjoy these last few episodes of what is one of the most riveting aspects of the JFK assassination story.

Years later, Michelle  recollected the story of the Chinese restaurant dinner with the Washington Post…in her own words…she said… ‘I don't want to go to bed with you,' And he says, ‘Just like I hired you, I'll fire you. Just like I made you, I'll break you, and if you don't do what I say then I'll have you killed.' … And that's how it started.”As we continue our HR Stories of Court Cases and Laws that made HR today we look at the very first case that eventually reaching the U.S. Supreme Court on June 19, 1986, Meritor Savings Bank v. Vinson. It was the first of its kind to redefine sexual harassment in the workplace. It established the standards for analyzing whether conduct was unlawful and when an employer would be liable.The court, ruled unanimously (9–0) that sexual harassment that results in a hostile work environment is a violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which bans sex discrimination by employers. Florida Mom, Rachiel Moore Gets Life Without Parole for Hiring Ex-Stepdad to Take Out Father In Custody Battle A 27-year-old Florida mother will die in prison for orchestrating the murder of her 4-year-old daughter's father—an ambush carried out in front of the child only hours after a judge granted the victim shared custody. On Thursday, Santa Rosa Circuit Judge Clifton Drake sentenced Rachiel Moore to life without the possibility of parole for the March 2023 slaying of 24-year-old Colby Vinson. A jury had convicted Moore of first-degree murder and evidence tampering, finding she enlisted her former stepfather, 55-year-old Jason Curtis, to pull the trigger. Curtis was convicted of the same murder in May and also received life without parole. Prosecutors said phone and social-media records showed Moore and Curtis traded messages “all week” plotting the hit. Moore wired gas money and provided Vinson's home and work addresses, physical description, and daily routine so Curtis—nicknamed “Booger”—could identify and kill him. Deputies were dispatched just after 10 p.m. on March 19 to an apartment complex on Navarre Parkway, about 170 miles west of Tallahassee. They found Vinson on his back outside his doorway, shot once in the face, as his preschool-aged daughter stood beside his body unharmed. Moore's godmother told detectives the shooting came the very night Vinson first exercised overnight visitation in nearly a year. Hours earlier, a family-court judge had awarded him split custody after a contentious legal fight with Moore. When investigators questioned Moore, she admitted venting to Curtis about the ruling. She said Curtis responded by sending Facebook Messenger photos of guns and knives. Moore thanked him “for making her feel better” and then deleted the app, later claiming she had not believed Curtis would act on his threats. According to the probable-cause affidavit, Curtis phoned Moore around 10 p.m. on the night of the murder and told her, “You don't have to worry about it—everything is fine. I have to put my a-- in the wind.” Moore described his tone as “excited” and promised to reimburse him $50 for gas. License-plate readers and cellphone data placed Curtis's vehicle on a northbound route to Alabama, where state troopers arrested him the next day. Inside the car, officers recovered a handgun believed to be the murder weapon and a handwritten note listing Vinson's appearance and both residential and workplace addresses. During trial, jurors heard that Moore deleted messages, removed apps from her phone, and asked acquaintances to lie about her whereabouts in an effort to hide her involvement. The tampering conviction stems from those attempts to erase digital evidence. After Thursday's sentencing, State Attorney Ginger Bowden Madden praised local, state, and federal agencies that “worked seamlessly to secure justice for Colby Vinson and his daughter, who witnessed an unimaginable crime.” Moore showed little emotion as she was led from the courtroom in shackles.
