Dr. Potter is a leading holistic doctor supporting mothers in their healing process after birth. After the birth of her first baby, she came face-to-face with the hardships mothers frequently experience after giving birth. She was amazed at how much pressure is put on mothers and how little support is given for whole-body wellness in this very unique time in a woman’s life. From there she developed her Postpartum Wellness Protocol that she uses with mothers nationally. Dr. Potter has been interviewed for Healthline.com for postpartum-specific articles. She is a nutritionist as well as a doctor. Her office is located in Portland, Oregon where she lives with her husband and two toddlers. Her passion for serving women throughout pregnancy and postpartum are so evident in our conversation. Not to mention she was a wealth of knowledge and so much fun to talk with. Have you felt more tired, stressed, negative, or ineffective since you started working remotely? If so, you may be burnt out. But you’re not alone. Work-from-home burnout is quickly becoming the next societal health crisis. A reported 70% of Americans have experienced burnout since the pandemic started, up from 52% in May. Rather than a medical condition, the World Health Organization (WHO) describes burnout as an “occupational phenomenon” or “syndrome” stemming from chronic, unaddressed work stress. Working remotely offers the potential for more flexibility and work-life balance. Unfortunately, most people are replacing their daily commutes with more time at their desks. I'm no doctor, but I've experienced burnout multiple times in my career - including last week - when I had to call 911 from my home. An engaging and passionate presenter and facilitator, Rowdy is also the director of Paradise Valley Community College’s Diversity, Incorporated, and he is an active member of the Healing Racism Public Dialogue Series. He co-wrote the proposal for Paradise Valley Community College’s Leadership Certificate. He also sits on the Desperado LGBT film festivals screening committee. He produces and delivers his Inclusive Activism Podcast bi-weekly to his thousands of listeners about how the intersections of Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity work are a form of Personal Leadership. How do you build the kind of community you want to live in? It turns out there are a slew of ways to go about it and this week’s guest is putting them all in play. Breeanya uses her platform as a magazine publisher to champion other people, businesses, and projects. In her “spare” time she uses her leadership skills to support important arts and youth nonprofits. And, in the course of this friendly, light-hearted interview, she convinced us that getting outside for a hike is another important way to build community. Breeanya was born & raised in Prescott, AZ and is a true “Prescott Woman.” She has been the designer and editor of Prescott Woman Magazine since 2008. In 2018 she took the bold step of purchasing the business. Breeanya also owns a graphic design business, BJH Designs, serves on the board for Prescott Center for the Arts, and is a member of the Prescott Valley Economic Development Foundation, and Prescott Women Who Care. FF: Recognizing Workout Burnout And How To Stop It Motherhood comes with a lot of responsibilities, which can leave you feeling drained. And for a lot of moms, it gets worse when you decide to get fit. Even when you’re sticking to your workouts and you’re seeing results you may start to lose motivation, which is normal to a point. If you are at a point where you feel totally unmotivated and so tired of exercise that you’re ready to hang up your gym shoes for good, then it’s time to re-evaluate. This is known as fitness burnout and there are a lot of reasons why you might be feeling that way.
