In a wide ranging podcast- recorded 36 hours after a heart-breaking All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Kerry- this is remarkable stuff from one of the best players in Gaelic football- in Gaelic games! Brendan Rodgers should pick-up an All star award in midfield later this year after a dramatic change of position in 2023. His performance against Kerry was scintillating. We reflect on that defeat, his move to midfield and who he believes will win Sam Maguire (and Liam MacCarthy) The podcast examines a season in red. The referee performance against Kerry, will Ciaran Meenagh remain as manager, the feeling within the camp when Rory Gallagher was replaced as coach 48 hours before the Ulster final- and its impact. Can you play both football and hurling and what's it like being a five-time world champion in Irish dancing. Brendan brings us into a world of pressure! All-star awards- will Brendan pick one up later this year? Does he care? He's an interesting response. Planning a wedding when you've just one free week per-year and his decision not to drink alcohol is interesting. His Sunday night was a cup of tea, a traybake (because it was earned) and off to bed. Different. What's vibrant about this podcast is the brilliant personality of Brendan Rogers. Devoted to Slaughtneil and Derry and an absolute belief he will climb the steps of the Hogan stand for both club and county. He's also a healthy look on life, perspective and being level. A brilliant episode of the Multi-Award winning GAA Social as Brendan Rogers sits down with Thomas Niblock & Oisin McConville
In a revealing episode of the GAA social- Allstar and 2022 Ulster winning captain Chrissy McKaigue reveals he was going to walk away from the Derry squad- just weeks before a first championship title in almost a quarter of a century. In a personal and brilliant episode of the podcast, McKaigue believes Derry are good enough to win an All-Ireland, his relationship with other club players, how that's changed and relives 'that' point scored by Paddy McBrearty in 2021- dumping Derry out of the championship. McKaigue is no longer the captain, he explains his feelings towards that decision. There's Jim Gavin and the inside track on the real Mickey Moran. We dig into the real Rory Gallagher and what he's really like behind the scenes. Perhaps not what you'd expect. It's a fascinating insight. Professionally, Chrissy has quit his job as a teacher and is now a full-time GPO for Slaughtneil. How did that come about? Who pays for it? It's a model that other clubs will develop. Raw, deep and uncut. Chrissy McKaigue, like you've never heard him before, in the GAA Social with Thomas Niblock & Oisin McConville.
Plenty to cover in this weekend's pod on the back of a big news story during the week about Mickey Harte going to Slaughtneil. Cooley bowed out of Leinster to a team I think will win the All-Ireland and then a HUGE managerial what if. Thanks for listening sign up now. www.patreon.com/louthandproud

Recorded in front of a live studio audience in Slaughtneil's wonderful An Carn theatre- this podcast is different. Mark McHugh was coached by rory Gallagher at donegal, in Kilcar and speak weekly (Mark called Rory for directions to Slaughtneil) it's an utterly facinating insight into a coach- that's mellowed? Tony Scullion believes people should support Tyrone- but gets caught about 1995 and Oisin has backed Logan & Dooher to win Sam Maguire (Yes that's the team who Armagh play next) The podcast focuses on the Ulster final, how it will be won and lost- and who will lift Sam Maguire in July (That's right, it's July) Tony & Mark provide a brilliant insight into Michael Murphy. Plenty of craic & laughs- it's your one-stop podcast ahead of Sunday's Ulster final. This episode will also be available on BBC iplayer, with questions from the audience on Tuesday 24th May 2022 PS- Tony Scullion has the best voice of any individual on earth, apart from the great American singer Barry White

Eighteen are taking place on the Sunday with two on the Saturday and also on Saturday, a double header in Club Football with both semifinals airing back to back on RTE. I also focus on the Ulster Club Championship. Club weekends don't get much bigger than this one coming up. Sunday is the busiest day of the season on the county final front with eighteen on the schedule across all four provinces - many of them high-profile fixtures. Add in two more on Saturday. Back-to-back All-Ireland champions Corofin will be bidding for a remarkable seventh successive Galway SFC title at Tuam Stadium, where they face the local Stars. Clontribret are looking to steer Scotstown's 'drive for five' off course in Monaghan while Ballymacnab and Crossmaglen cross swords in the Armagh SFC final once again. Naomh Conaill will be keen to avoid their third successive Donegal SFC final defeat when they face holders Gaoth Dobhair in a repeat of last year's decider at MacCumhaill Park (live, TG4). In Kildare, there will be an eight all-Newbridge SFC final in nineteen years as fierce rivals Moorefield and Sarsfields prepare to do battle. Slaughtneil slayers Watty Grahams are set to contest their first-ever Derry SFC final, against a Magherafelt side who are appearing in their first in 36 years. The Waterford SFC final is between Ballinacourty and Rathgormack after the latter reached their first Conway Cup showpiece in 19 years. Miltown-Malbay (Clare), Tir Chonaill Gaels (London), Newtown Blues (Louth) and Tourlestrane (Sligo) are set to defend their respective championship crowns. Also on Sunday, the opening game of the provincial club SFC takes places at Corrigan Park, where Antrim winners Cargin face Fermanagh's five-in-a-row champions Derrygonnelly. On Saturday evening, all eyes will be on the Mayo SFC final as reigning champions Ballintubber and Ballaghaderreen go head-to-head for the Moclair Cup. Yes, a weekend of mixed fortunes on the sporting front: United lose again, to Newcastle! Ole Gunnar Solskjaer faced fresh calls to bring the curtain down on his Old Trafford tenure during Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Newcastle. The Red Devils traveled to the north east desperate to get back to winning ways having failed to secure victory in 90 minutes since September 19. But, as much as they huffed and puffed at St James' Park, they failed to make a breakthrough and get themselves on the scoresheet. United's woes were compounded in the second half when Newcastle debutant Matty Longstaff finished off a flowing move to put Newcastle 1-0 up. The goal, which proved to be the winner, opened the door for a wave of criticism to be directed towards Solskjaer, with fans venting their fury towards the Norwegian on social media. "Solskjaer is clearly out of his depth at this level, but not a single pundit or former teammate will say it though," said one fan on Twitter. "It’ll all be the players and boards fault.” Semi-final time in GAA Club football and I take in Armagh and Derry semi-finals. In Armagh a double header semi-final spectactular ended up as a rather damp affair particularly in the 2nd game as the first between Ballymacnab & Granemore proved enthralling despite atrocious conditions with an injury time equaliser from Granemore ensuring the 'Nab had to work really hard in extra time to ensure a repeat of the 2018 final against Crossmaglen who eased past Maghery in conditions that were more akin to a swimming gala than anything that could have been conducive to good football. Final scores for both games: Ballymacnab Round Towers 0-16 v 0-13 Granemore AET Crossmaglen Rangers 2-9 (15) v 0-8 Maghery Sean MacDiarmada In Derry, I travelled to Owenbeg, Dungiven on Sunday where I was delighted to witness Glen, Maghera deservedly deny Slaughtneil a return to the Derry Senior club decider in a game of goals and goal chances, holding on for a famous victory, that saw the Watty Graham's appear in their 1st Senior football final, in a finish that was more nerve-wracking than it needed to be.Glen would have been happy to win an awful game – they were delighted to edge this enthralling encounter by a score of Watty Graham's, Glen 3-7 (16) Robert Emmet's, Slaughtneil 1-11 (14). They will now face another local neighbour as Magherafelt O'Donovan Rossa who have qualified for their first senior county final in 36 years by beating Banagher on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-9 in the other semi which was played on Saturday in equally atrociuos conditions the the Armagh double header. The 19th typhoon of the season which has been named Typhoon Hagibis has formed just south of Japan and forecasters say it is rapidly making its way towards the mainland, could quite literally blow Ireland's QFinal qualification away. Ireland are due to play Samoa on Saturday in Fukuoka, which is in southern Japan. World Rugby have already confirmed that if any World Cup games are cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, the result will go down as a 0-0 draw. If the worst case scenario was to unfold, it could leave Ireland on the brink of elimination, if Scotland were to win their remaining two games against Russia on Wednesday and Japan on Sunday. Is violence at Gaelic football getting out of control? Brawls at a string of recent GAA matches have led to concerns the game's reputation is being tarnished by violence. One former GAA star has described some of the recent fights as thuggery in the Irish News this week. Recently there were scenes of fighting just off the pitch between players and others at Sunday's match between Downpatrick Russell Gaelic Union and Ballyholland Harps. This followed an on pitch brawl on Thursday between Slaughtneil and Ballinderry reserves. So does Gaelic football have a problem with on-field violence? Is it any worse than soccer or rugby? And if so, what's the solution? Vinny spoke to sports journalist Steven Beacom and commentator Daithi McKay.
