¡Arrancamos! Hosted on Acast. On Saturday, AFC Bournemouth fans made the LONGEST trip of the Premier League to face Newcastle at St James Park. Andoni Iraola's Cherries hammered the Magpies in a phenomenal performance which saw them score FOUR, three of them coming from Justin Kluivert - his second hattrick of the season. We know the Cherries have had some big results in their recent history, but is that the best of the lot? We think it is, given the context of having the bare bones of a squad, with kids on the bench and Daniel Jebbison being the only senior outfield player outside of the eleven. Plus, on the pitch, Cherries had no right back - with our centre-midfielder deputising, no striker - with our winger plying his trade there, and add to that, the worrying form of Newcastle - who had won nine in a row, much of it inspired by the most in form striker in world football, as well as a powerful midfield that would be the envy of many Premier League sides. And Cherries beat them. But it wasn't a tight 1-0. We battered them. And it could have been worse for the Magpies. Sam and Tom go over the events of the day. Manchester City are unbeaten in the last 52 matches that Rodri has played in. They also lost 34 games last season, all 3 of which he was suspended for. They start by talking about the 0-0 draw away to Bradford, did Wimbledon do enough to win the game or was a draw a fair result, Also should the Bradford player had been sent off? The Newcastle game and Accrington games having to be postponed. Some good news, the Newcastle game being rearranged and now being played this coming Tuesday at St James Park. The Just Giving page set up by Wimbledon fan Graham Stacey, the money raised, what this maybe used for and some of the donators and comments. On this week's episode on The Overlap, brought to you by Sky Bet, we are joined by Newcastle United and England winger Anthony Gordon.Gary Neville meets Gordon along Whitley Bay beach. He starts with the first part of quick-fire questions, where the Liverpudlian opens up about the importance of psychology and meditation on his game.Gordon made a huge decision to move to Newcastle from Everton in January 2022 and talks about life at St James Park under Eddie Howe, his ambitions and the club's goals as he enjoys his most prolific spell in professional football to date. With the upcoming Euros and having made his senior England debut in March's international friendlies against Brazil and Belgium, the 23-year-old will be looking to replicate last summer's achievements that saw him named player of the tournament as England lifted the under-21 European trophy.Lastly, Quick-Fire Questions resume where Gordon reveals his best goal, who he'd want to take a last-minute penalty to save his life and which former-teammate Gordon reminds Gary of in terms of self-confidence.If you enjoyed the interview please hit subscribe to never miss an upload. Jack and Phil pick over the bones of the weekend's footballing action, starting with Aston Villa strengthening their grip on fourth place...and despite what this means for Tottenham's Champions League hopes, it takes Arsenal further away from winning the league, and, so, the lads can't help but celebrate. Speaking of celebrations, Tottenham's Women's team is also in the FA Cup final for the first time in their history, so Wembley awaits. Finally, the pair to move onto the men's debacle at St James Park, in what is annoyingly now becoming our annual battering in Newcastle. Is Ange right to write-off the top four, is this having an impact on the players? What is going wrong for Spurs at the moment with their indifferent form? James Maddison, Destiny Udogie, Yves Bissouma, all have put in questionable performances of late. Timo Werner, who once represented great value for money, is now also looking like he could be an awful move for the club. Plenty to discuss, enjoy!Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/ruletheroost. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Today in the latest Nottingham Forest News, we discuss the team prediction for Nottingham Forest match at the City Ground against Newcastle United in the Premier League. After the penalty victory over Bristol City in the FA Cup midweek, how tired will the Forest players be heading in this vital match. So how will NFFC boss Nuno Espirito Santo setup his team following the midweek game, well there is good news, as suspended Yates and Dominguez are available and fresh for the Newcastle United game. However with potential injuries sustained to both Morgan Gibbs White and Montiel during the Bristol City game, Nuno will have check the fitness of a number of players. Newcastle United head into the match off the back of a crazy 4-4 draw with Luton Town, and after twice having to come from behind to rescue a point, could Forest expose their leaky defence and claim a critical 3 points. In the reverse fixture at St James Park, is was the Chris Wood show as Forest ran out 3-1 victors, and a similar results at the City Ground would be very welcomed. It's The Grecians v The Gas! An obvious game for Footy on the Med. Why? Because The Grecians (that's Exeter City to non-locals) play in Exeter, which is on the River Exe, which flows down into The English Channel – and from there it's a hop, skip and a watery jump to the Med. The Gas (aka, Bristol Rovers, aka, The Pirates) can claim a similar maritime proximity to the Med. So Alex took himself to the other St James Park to see Exeter City 0 Bristol Rovers 1 on Saturday 3 February 2024. With him was a special guest: Rob Cox, boxer and father of Sonny (named after Liston), playing up front for The Grecians. Enjoy. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/footy-on-the-med/message

The Sam's open with the craziness at St James Park where Newcastle defeated Arsenal on the craziest of decisions, well three of them really. They turn their attention to the bottom of the table because Sheffield got their first win and Luton secured an unbelievable draw. Burnley's mistakes do them in and the cherries are just massacred by City and for the first time, Graham and Mel do shots of Malort while Big Sam doesn't. They all enjoy a big peaty offering from Laphriog on a night with a little chill. Joe Devine, JJ Bull and Reuben Pinder are here to talk about some football. Before we, eventually, get into the show proper. We have a bit of an announcement…Arsenal managed to draw another game, this time against relegation candidates Southampton. Newcastle Utd hammered Tottenham Hotspur 6-1 at St James Park. We recorded before Cristian Stellini left the club and they have, as Pinder predicted, “given it Mason” for the rest of the season.Man Utd are in the FA Cup final after knocking out Brighton on penalties. Wrexham have secured promotion from the National League and their “Hollywood” story, I know I know, continues. And, not at JJ's suggestion surprisingly, we talk about Aberdeen because they're doing real good right now.Tickets for the Tifo Football podcast live show can be bought at this link - https://www.leicestersquaretheatre.com/tifo-football-live/(The link will be live from 12:00 on Tuesday 25th April at 12:00 UK time)This episode of the Tifo football podcast is presented by Joe Devine and produced by Steve Hankey.
