The Connacht Wheelchair Camogie Hurling club are holding a unique event in Clarin College Athenry on Sunday, 7th December. A number of teams will play a blitz on the day (from 10am to 2pm), including the Connacht and Munster wheelchair teams, Galway senior hurling and camogie teams, Limerick senior hurling and camogie teams, and All-Star recipients from GAA and camogie sides, and present All-Stars in wheelchair camogie and hurling. It's a fun event with a different twist on a competitive fun sport.  The idea is to promote awareness of wheelchair hurling and camogie. Éire Óg boss Gerry O'Connor says his side deserve huge credit for handling the emotion of a tough week and claiming the county title. The Townies ended a 35 year wait between drinks with a five point defeat of Clooney Quin. The victory also sees Éire Óg into the Munster Club Championship, which they'll begin by facing the winners of the Tipperary championship. O'Connor says winning the battle around the middle third was pivotal to their success. Meanwhile, 2024 Hurler of the Year, Shane O'Donnell, says it's incredibly special to witness the outpouring of relief from Éire Óg supporters.

A former Clare senior hurling captain claims the timing of the loss of Shane O'Donnell gives Brian Lohan's squad time to adapt ahead of the Munster Championship. The Clare boss confirmed yesterday that the reigning Hurler of the Year, Shane O'Donnell, will undergo surgery on a shoulder issue, ruling him out for the entirety of the 2025 intercounty season. The Banner's Munster campaign is edging ever closer, with Cork making the visit to Cusack Park on April 20th. Clare FM hurling analyst, Tommy Guilfoyle, says the injury would be much more detrimental to the squad, had it occurred later in the year.
