He has been active in long distance endurance cycling -- including twice completing the "Death Ride" -- and has cycled in at least five different countries. He is a golfer as well. As a youth he participated in basketball, baseball, and football. He is the author of a book called, "Mortal Adhesions: A Surgeon Battles the Seven Deadly Sins to Find Faith, Happiness, and Inner Peace." He is also active as a speaker, giving lectures at parishes about the Camino de Santiago and the Shroud of Turin. We cannot believe anything that we read or see anymore. Reality and fantasy are becoming indistinguishable. There is a quote that is attributed to a woman from Germany who lived in the 20th century that goes like this: "If everybody always lies to you, the consequence is not that you believe the lies, but rather that nobody believes anything any longer." This is the snare that we find ourselves in now. Very few people believe anything anymore. This is why there is so much apathy, lack of commitment, and skepticism and cynicism among those who profess to be believers in Christ and his Word. Generally, modern professing Christians do no believe anything enough to die for. Their so-called faith will not even get them to church or deliver them from their sinful lifestyle. That is not the kind of faith that saves.

SUMMARY The importance of managing your finances and being a faithful steward of the resources God has entrusted to you. The biblical principles of budgeting, avoiding debt, and prioritizing God over money.  How our finances and spending habits reveal the true condition of our hearts and relationship with God. The temporary nature of earthly possessions and the need to focus on eternal, spiritual riches. The danger of loving money and the need to choose to serve God rather than money. The call to examine our own financial practices and align them with God's principles. The need for repentance and a fresh start in managing our finances according to God's will. The connection between how we handle money and the trust God will place in us for eternity.
