Life can feel overwhelming when the future seems uncertain or when comfort feels like the safer choice. But what if Jesus is inviting us into a life full of adventure, purpose, and trust in Him? In this message, Pastor Gentry shares how stepping out in faith, even when it feels risky, leads to deeper joy and transformation. Join us as we explore how God uses ordinary moments to do extraordinary things through us.
In Luke chapter 18 we read of the parable of the persistent widow and the unjust judge and the question Jesus posed at the end of the parable about whether He will really find faith on the earth when He returns. The sermon will include a review of the parable and the answer to that question.

SUMMARY The importance of managing your finances and being a faithful steward of the resources God has entrusted to you. The biblical principles of budgeting, avoiding debt, and prioritizing God over money. How our finances and spending habits reveal the true condition of our hearts and relationship with God. The temporary nature of earthly possessions and the need to focus on eternal, spiritual riches. The danger of loving money and the need to choose to serve God rather than money. The call to examine our own financial practices and align them with God's principles. The need for repentance and a fresh start in managing our finances according to God's will. The connection between how we handle money and the trust God will place in us for eternity. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS To what extent would you say your personal finances are in line with biblical principles? Where do you see room for improvement? The speaker mentions that budgeting is a biblical principle. How regularly do you create and stick to a budget? What challenges do you face in budgeting effectively? The speaker discusses the concept of debt, noting that some debt is unwise while other debt may be necessary. How do you view debt in your own life? Are there steps you could take to reduce unhealthy debt? The speaker suggests that how we handle money is an indicator of the condition of our hearts. Do you agree with this perspective? How does your financial stewardship reflect your relationship with God? The speaker emphasizes that everything we have ultimately belongs to God, not to us. How does this truth impact the way you view and manage your possessions and resources? What specific action steps could you take to align your finances more closely with biblical principles? Where do you need to grow in financial faithfulness?
In these last two months of the year we need to remain faithful no matter what
How do you expect the story to go, once you begin following Jesus? Do you anticipate bigger and better realities for your life? Have you considered suffering might be part of the equation? Amy is a student at Asbury Theological Seminary studying Biblical and Theological Foundations. She and her husband of 33 years, David, live in the high Rocky Mountains of Colorado and on the Nature Coast of Florida. Can I Borrow A Cup of Hope? When the pain and problems of life barge in, hopes and dreams run out. In these uncertain seasons of personal crisis, national chaos, and global catastrophe, it's easy to wonder if life will ever be anything but sorrow and despair. The apostle Peter knows exactly what it's like when hope is gone. He watched as the Messiah was arrested, crucified, and buried. And Peter himself failed almost every test of his faith, even with Christ right in front of him. But he also knows that God is faithful and true, carrying us through our harshest suffering and redeeming our heaviest regrets. Bible teacher, author, and speaker Amy Lively dives into Peter's first epistle, a short letter with a lot of power, to light the way for today's struggling Christian. In this daily Bible study, she guides readers through the beautiful story of Peter and shows how he embodies the way to set our hope fully in Christ alone. With gentle honesty and a touch of helpful humor, Amy helps readers understand that when it feels like the end of the world to them, it's just the beginning of the power of Jesus.Connect with Amy:WebsiteInstagramFacebook Check out the Context and Color of the Bible Podcast! When negotiating, tensions may arise, but they often can be diffused, bringing harmony and agreement to an otherwise adversarial situation. Understanding the "love-fear" dynamic can make your life more peaceful and your business relationships more rewarding. Join your host, Cindy Watson, as she engages Dr. John Sottosanti in a discussion of successful negotiating in an atmosphere of cooperation and mutual understanding. Dr. Sottosanti is an acclaimed surgeon, scientist, entrepreneur, educator, and the author of the Amazon bestselling book Mortal Adhesions, in which adhesions are a metaphor for the negatives in our lives that prevent us from realizing our dreams and goals. Together, they explore how transformative thinking can produce win-win situations. John not only performed surgery but also formed three businesses, licensed his patents to a large biotech company, and represented the western region of the United States on the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Periodontology. For twenty-seven consecutive years, his negotiating skills involving speakers with controversial opinions brought the Annual Periodontal Symposium at the University of Southern California national acclaim. In this episode, we will discover: Why is the achievement of "inner peace" so important? How to negotiate your mindset to show up powerfully what role does fear play in sabotaging negotiations How does pride hurt our ability to negotiate? Author Faith Doerr joins this episode of The Concordia Publishing House Podcast to discuss how we can turn to the Bible to find comfort, rather than modern self-help phrases. She also talks about how she addresses these issues in her new book, God's Encouraging Word: True Comforts When Worldly Advice Fails, which will release on July 23 and is available for pre-order now. Show Notes"Just be positive!" "God only gives you what you can handle." "Others have it harder." People mean well when they say these phrases. They intend to offer comfort and help during difficult times. Yet, ask yourself, do these self-help phrases actually offer comfort to you, or do they make things feel worse?Author Faith Doerr has heard her fair share of these phrases during struggles in her life. And she knows first-hand how they feel like "nails on a chalkboard" from the receiving end. If these phrases don't offer comfort, then is there something that can? Scripture. God's Word is full of true comfort that can help you in times of trouble and distress. In her new book, Faith takes a look at eight self-help phrases to see how they can actually do the opposite of their intentions, then turns to the Bible to find real words of comfort you can offer to those who need it. As the sun sets on battlefields, the hearts and minds of those who've served often linger in a space where faith and duty collide. Air Force veteran Leola McNeill, alongside other brave service members, opens up about the spiritual odyssey they've embarked on through their time in combat. From the internal tug-of-war between military values and religious beliefs to the profound moments where the divine seemed to intervene, our guests share stories that reveal the depths of the human spirit when tested by war.Navigating through the murky waters of conflict and conscience, our conversation takes a turn into the realm of the personal and the universal. Warriors, who have undergone profound personal growth, grapple with the commandment 'thou shalt not kill' as they recount the moments where their roles in combat forced them to confront their core beliefs. These narratives stretch beyond the battlefield, touching on the search for truth and peace in a world that reveals its complexities at every corner—be it through the political machinations behind wars or the government disclosures about extraterrestrial life. Such discussions underscore how personal faith and a broader worldview can evolve dramatically in the aftermath of war.We wrap up our heartfelt dialogue with reflections on the passage of time and the evolution of self. Memories of missile attacks in youth contrast sharply with the mature gratitude expressed by our guests for the journey they've undergone, shaped immensely by their military experiences. The support of loved ones, the lessons learned, and the unwavering faith that has persisted through trials and tribulations are woven together, painting a picture of resilience and hope. Join us for this powerful exchange that honors the voices of veterans like Sister McNeill, Brother Bynum, Brother Curry, Brother Hart, and Brother McDonald and resonates with anyone seeking to understand the complex tapestry of life, faith, and duty. #DesertStormVeterans #Combat #OperationDesertStorm
