Shea and Jason salute the Atlanta Hawks for taking down the league-leading Cleveland Cavaliers on their way to clinching their NBA Cup group, and make a case that Trae Young is playing the best basketball of his career right now. Meanwhile, the Wizards go winless in November (aka No-win-ber), the Rockets play themselves back into the spotlight, Jazz coach Will Hardy calls an ill-advised timeout, and New York Knickerbocker Mikal Bridges finds his jumper. Plus, the guys say “no” to NBA Cup point differential rules, say “yes” to Dyson Daniels' new nickname (“The Great Barrier Thief”), and give LeBron James a Nipsey Hussle tribute for grinding out a 1,243-game double digit scoring streak. Elsewhere, Jason and Shea reflect on Deadpool & Wolverine and Friday Night Lights. "Texas Forever!"Be the first to know about Wondery's newest podcasts, curated recommendations, and more! On this week's solo episode we're breaking down what went down at Martinsville last Sunday on track, the aftermath and how we did with the bets we placed leading up. With short track season settling down, NASCAR moves to second 1.5 mile track this year with Texas Motor Speedway. A track that's been ripped on for years, can we make money off of it? We damn well try to starting with the Moneyline segment and another manufacturers bet to get the ball rolling. Then, we talk Finishing Position bets, with some over/unders and Top 10s to wet the whistle. We wrap things up in the Head to Head segment with a nice variety of bets from underdog to heavy favorite!

We're trying to shake off a rough week of bets at Bristol from last week. Can we get that bad taste out of our mouths? We start off talking a little about the silly season news that was announced last week, and a weird interaction from a former driver. Then we recap Bristol and talk the bets the hit, and all the bets that missed. After going through the Texas stats and data sets, we talk about the drivers that stand out the most, as well as a NEW type of bet that is being offered this week on one book.

This week's episode, the fifth in the Hometown Stories series, takes us to Texas. We'll blow up a gas station in the Panhandle. We'll check out some tumbleweeds in West Texas. We'll pop over to Bryan Texas, to wonder how and why Bryan made somebody's best-of list, and why a big-city reporter would want to deny them their moment of glory. And finally, we'll go squirrel hunting in tiny Bluff Dale Texas. Haddock's diligent nature mixed with his traditional, authentic style of country music has quickly solidified his spot as a staple in the Red Dirt Country scene. Gearing up to release a string of new singles with hit producer/songwriter and Haddock's manager Trent Willmon (Cody Johnson, Eric Church, Randy Houser, Little Big Town) at the helm, the young talent is on an unprecedented path. Haddock recently released the first taste of new music in nearly 2 years with “Wind It Down” and “Better Than Your Memory”, and is slated to release a collaboration with Jon Wolfe in the coming months. The new project follows Haddock's early 2020 Red Dirt Texas album release which has produced 3 Top 15 Texas Country singles. The Texas A&M Senior clocks more than 150 tour dates a year and has recently opened for artists including Randall King, Steve Wariner, Kevin Fowler, Casey Donahew, Roger Creager and more.Currently boasting more than 3 million streams, Haddock has tracks featured on Spotify's Texas Music Now, Apple Music's Don't Mess With Texas and Amazon Music's Texas Forever playlists. Haddock further solidified his trajectory when he was awarded New Male Vocalist of the Year at the leading Texas award show, the 2020 T3R Awards.Haddock's 10-track, sophomore album entitled Red Dirt Texas, features five songs co-written by Haddock and chart-topping songwriters including Willmon, Kevin Fowler, David Lee Murphy, Terry McBride, Tommy Karlas, John Pierce, Jim Collins and more. Upon its January 2020 release, Red Dirt Texas reached No. 39 on the iTunes Country albums chart. The “Red Dirt Texas” music video made its world premiere on Billboard and has racked up more than 450K views across all platforms. Staying true to his Texas roots, Haddock recently announced a partnership with award-winning Texas based distillery, Texas Ranger Whiskey. Some may be surprised to find out that Haddock is only 22-years-old as he has a musical instinct well beyond his years and sites influences from George Strait, Eric Church, Cody Johnson, Jon Pardi and Clay Walker. When Haddock is not juggling classes and tour dates, the avid outdoorsman spends time hunting, fishing and experimenting on his Traeger grill. Having been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at a young age, Haddock works with several organizations to help spread awareness of the disease and is an advocate/speaker for JDRF.This is episode may or may not contain adult content such as strong language, references to smoking, alcohol, sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll. We don't always talk about products on our show because that isn't the point for us, but when I love something, I talk about it. EveryPlate is just another meal delivery service but it's the most affordable one and it's actually super good quality. You cook it yourself, but the portioned are accurate. Order of operations on today's episode: Intro and podcast updates > TikTok says they don't give US data to China > Random Actor supposed a ration plan to buy products for holidays due to the "Climate Crisis" > More local news and politics for Texas > 2022 Elections (Nov 8, 2022), who's running and who to watch for > Redistricting of House Reps in Texas and Gerrymandering > Latinos are suing because of the redistrict > Minneapolis homicide rate has doubled > Daughter raped in Virginia school; full story > Who represents Tarrant County in Texas > Austin is getting very big and may sway Texas to more of a left side > Matty B's prediction for 2024 and potential candidate rankings > NBA, Taiwan, Nike and China > What happens if we protect Taiwan? It's no secret China is scaring people. What seems to be more apparent, though, is the lack of knowledge about how the CCP operates. The fact is, you won't know what's really going on in China even if news outlets pretend to know. That's how it's designed. Recently, in the middle of a Celtics game that was being aired in China (they love NBA...for some reason), CCP cut the live feed. I'm not sure what they changed it to, but they didn't want to watch basketball anymore and it needed to change right then and there! They did this as retaliation to an NBA player speaking out against NBA's involvement with China and Nike's involvement with it as well. This player is mentioned in the podcast and is a hero among greedy, selfish executives that run Nike and NBA. These are only a few of the organizations that participate in China's slave-labor out of dozens.
Does Houston have a problem? With dating, that is. Well this week, we'll find out! We have guest Amy joining us sharing her experiences living and dating in this southern city. Despite her parents meeting in Houston, Amy shares her culture shock moving from a more liberal city in Ohio down to this more conservative area who's biggest event of the year is the rodeo. She learns that everyone, even transplants, take on a "Texas Forever," type of mentality, and there is a strong focus on relationships over hook-up culture. With that, some of the men who are born and raised in the area take on the role of a true Southern gentleman, which can actually lead to trouble in relationships. Though Houston is a diverse city, attracting a mix of intellectuals who like to hunt, Amy also shares dating horror stories with some men who did not have some Southern charm - including an ex co-worker with some racist tendencies. If you didn't hear, there were mass flight-cancellations across the country this week. Guess who has two thumbs and got caught up in all of it!? Why is it always thumbs? I have 2 of each of my fingers... Anywho, I was forced to cancel the scheduled recording I had ready for this week because my travel arrangements were so screwed up after a bachelor party in Texas. You can imagine how PSYCHED we all were to have to change plans on the tail end. Still, the show must go on one way or another, so chill with me for a half hour as I just rant over a couple things. This episode definitely has the most rant-based content of all our episodes so far. We'd like to say you could just skip past those parts to get to the joy, but since most streaming services *apparently* haven't been able to master that basic functionality, you're probably outta luck. On the brighter side, Matt & Yuna share a rare overlap in their joyful things. Texas Forever. More than 20% of Houston GDP relates to activities in the traditional energy industry – a sector that is being disrupted by innovation in low-carbon energies. How will the effects of this disruption compare to the economic decline observed in 1990s Detroit, whose GDP was heavily reliant on an evolving automobile industry?
